Popular on Yelp is an Ethiopian-owned coffee shop along Columbia Pike in Arlington, Virginia. It's within development so it feels a little commercial, but they make good use of the space given. Here's my experience visiting on a Friday morning: 1) Coffee: They have a full coffee menu, brewing Ethiopian beans. I ordered a large vanilla latte and it was strong and flavorful, not too sweet. For non-coffee drinkers, they have tea and two different kinds of smoothies. My five-year-old daughter loved their strawberry mango smoothie. 2) Food: They have a variety of pastries made fresh, cakes and other snacks. Seeing a blueberry scone and a cinnamon scone, made fresh daily. My cinnamon scone wasn't too dry and had a good cinnamon crunch. 3) Service: There was a line around 10 a.m. so expect to wait, but the service is so nice. The staff seem passionate about what they do and the joy is contagious. 4) Space: It's small, but there are two areas of seats and couches. An old map of D.C. decorates one of the walls. There's a restroom in the back. 5) Neighborhood: There are many shops and restaurants from around the world nearby along Columbia Pike. My favorite taco spot in the D.C. area (Tortas Y Tacos La Chiquita) is just a few minute walk north.

First of all, the staff is so friendly. Cute area to sit and hang out. Not space for a big group, but 1-2 people can hang out. The coffee is good and the milk art on top is adorable. I got the tiramisus and the carrot cake and they were both amazing!

Excellent service and food, I ordered a gluten-free avocado toast, and my partner ordered a pesto chicken sandwich, both of them delicious. The owner and staff are very kind. My only issue why I didn't give a 5 star review is because the tables are low and dogs are permitted inside the restaurant, and one large dog was moving his tail almost on top of my sandwich. But we will be back, and next time, we will sit in the bar-stool area.

The break sandwich was amazing and flakey and wonderful. The coffees were beautiful and tasted. The tables and decor are very nice. We didn’t personally speak to the owner but we watched him say hi and laugh with the locals. Big smile on his face. Great vibes

Nice location, good service and great coffee. Visited on a pleasant Sunday afternoon and enjoyed a hot lavender latte with oatmilk, alongside a cranberry orange cake slice. Recommend visiting!

Cute little coffee shop with a good atmosphere. It’s not a bad place to stay and work for a while, with comfortable chairs and seating. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Only downside is it’s pretty small, so the seating is somewhat limited and can be hard to get depending on the time of day.

Absolutely amazing customer service and quality of food. They are accommodating for dietary restrictions and were very helpful talking to me about gluten free options. They offer GF toast and are accommodating to warm it up separately from other bread and wearing gloves to avoid cross contamination. 10/10 experience here

Strong coffee, good selection of teas (black and herbal), TREATS! (gluten free and vegan available - yum!), convenient location with street parking, comfortable seating to work and relax, friendly customer service, and clean cafe. We'll be back! 👍😊

Excellent coffee. Nice place, nice people. A little cramped. One counter needs to extend out further to accommodate the fully legged. Great for conversing, but not computer.

This is a great local coffee shop right off of Columbia Pike! The americano is killer and the croissant breakfast sandwich was big and delicious! It gets a bit crowded in here on Sundays during the Farmer’s Market, but I’m always able to find a place to sit during the week when I come into work.

Great vibe & customer service. My ham, egg, cheese croissant was so delicious and my London fog was perfect. I didn’t get to try the desserts but I definitely will be coming back for some! They looked soo good (especially the cakes & coffee cake). They had a whole breakfast & lunch menu. Highly recommend coming here!

coffee was great, bacon egg and Cheese was great but their Toasted almond cake tasted like someone misted it with soap. I don’t know if they make their pastries in house or outsource them but my wife and I definitely tasted a soapy flavor (smelled possibly like fabulouso?). BUT still a pretty cool place.

Such a cute place with a wonderful menu of coffees and sandwiches, a full display of pastries like cakes and scones. The cappuccino was probably one of the smoothest I’ve ever had, I can tell the quality is top notch. The milks were also top quality and they had non dairy options like almond and oat. We orders a variety of sandwiches from the menu, including the vegan Italian sausage breakfast sandwich, which my son said was amazing! The owner was very welcoming and overall this cozy coffee shop is a gem of a place!

Great local coffee shop. Every drink I've had has been excellent - highly recommend the dirty chai or caramel macchiato! Their pastries are pretty tasty too. The people are always very friendly, and the service is reasonably fast.

I got a smoked salmon sandwich on rye with an iced mocha. Probably the best mocha I have has this year. This place is the perfect neighborhood cafe. The staff is friendly and quick on orders

Nice spot in a great location, next to CVS. Gluten free avocado toast is a good option. La Colombe coffe was medium roast, nice overall.

  • 4/5 Tom O. 1 year ago on Google
Very good coffee, La Colombe is one of my favorites and love that they serve it here. The owner seems passionate about his business and is super friendly. Only criticism I have is the price of the breakfast sandwich. Definitely not worth $9.00. $13.76 for a large coffee and breakfast sandwich is extremely steep, even in this economic climate. If the price wasn’t so crazy I’d give it 5 because it was a good sandwich. That said, I will come back for the coffee though. Place is definitely worth a shot if you’re in the area or close by.

I ordered the avocado toast for breakfast and requested my egg to be cooked medium. Let me say it was very savory, bread was not stale at all. I recommend!

Great place. I ordered afogato - espresso with ice cream and a piece of carrot cake. Clean and looks good. The barista is professional and nice. The cakes are delicious and fresh. Highly recommend.

One of my favorite coffee shops. The coffee is immaculate. The service is great - the owner tries to thank everyone personally for coming in. The location, the vibe, it’s all outstanding.

I heard a conversation about Chilli from this group of older guys and it was nice to know that many people were meeting in this store. It gave off super comfy vibes and the store had a very nice atmosphere, the coffee art was super pretty and the tiramasu was SUPER smooth. 10/10 would come again.
