I travel a lot with my job and used a lot of good Puregyms, but Brunswick falls far below basic standards. A messy studio with steppers slung to one side, poor class timetable, a faulty rickety shoulder press (first one as you go in) shows kit is not being tested properly, broken cov safety signage in changing rooms, broken sink unit in men's which people are chucking used tissues in side, changing room checks not being done which is evident in the check form (not checked for 6hrs when I looked), most locker doors open, treadmills filthy, rubbish on floors and I could go on. There's also black dumbbells scattered on the floor by the main set as apparently a rack won't be purchased for them so they're just thrown anywhere. The urine stained floor under the urinals is just disgusting too and the damaged wall pillars in the free weights are just being ignored. By far the worst Puregym I've used and will not be joining when I move to the area next week. I was going to speak to a member of staff about this, but could not find anyone so pressed the assistance button which no one responded to. I've uploaded photographic evidence. Manager get a grip.

Absolutely filthy showers, toilets and changing rooms. No cleaners in for 4 days. After approaching staff and manager over the past few days to suggest they might clean the area have been told they are waiting for cleaners. How ironic to hear the repeated messages on loop on tannoy about increased cleaning measures in PureGym. Pretty grim to need a shower at home after a shower in the gym....

This puregym is one of the best around liverpool if not the best! Staff are friendly and the standards of hygiene are very high. I tend to train of a night and often talk to the cleaner (Donna) she is also first aid trained too! You dont get that anywhere else! All i want to say is keep up with having a gym like this and cleaning staff like donna because they are what make the gym worth going to! Clean gym = Happy Gerrard Button

Little issues that could be rectified appear to be overlooked, the disabled toilet that is used of a night has been out of order for 10 days, all it needed was 2 screws tightened on the door handle and job done but it has now lead to a prolonged closing and no communication about what people are to do with the facility out of order. Overall the gym is very good and is spotless of a night (credit to the cleaning team) when I go but equipment at times when out of order takes an age to be fixed. Why not train some of the staff to fix minor issues and be more pro active?. Train staff on the basic maintenance it will save money in the long run. Back to my starting point about the disabled toilet, 10 days is not acceptable for any member who requires the use of this facility and this should have been treated as a priority.

Great gym, needs more weights. And a yoga class...

From the view point of a disabled person: Mediocre gym. They only have one machine per muscle group and there are no machines designed for disabled people. Anyone wishing to do weights and visits between 5pm-7pm will have to wait for turns which makes for a bad workout. Didabled people can not gain access after 8pm for safety (how patronising?!). There is one clearly labelled disabled toilet downstairs and able-bodied toilets upstairs but seemingly most of the people who work out here including some personal trainers use the disabled toilets due to it being convenient as they don't want to haul themselves upstairs. When asking the manager whether something will be done about able-bodied persons constantly using the toilets, they stated that they knew it happened but can't stop other people using it. 3 words. Radar door lock. Being disabled is hard enough without inconsiderate able-bodied persons making it harder. The disabled parking bays are also used by those that don't display a blue parking badge even though there's plenty of free road side parking if there aren't any spaces. For a gym that rants and raves about being inclusive. They're not. If you're disabled and want to look for a good gym, look elsewhere.

Im afraid I cant recommend this gym if you are interested in free weights. There is not enough machines, squat racks or benches. There were 2 proper squat racks, 2 bench press racks, 1 leg press and 1 pec deck. Pretty much 1 of everything else. Its really not enough for a gym of this scale. The space can easily sustain it, just needs more investment. There also needs to be more plates with proper policing of tidiness (I shouldn't have to search for 1.25kg plates!). There is a good amount of cable machines which was great; however, the range of attachments was barebones. Ive been to gyms with half the space with twice the equipment in the free weights section (no exaggeration) for similar prices in the South of England. I will be exploring the other PureGym in the city but if it is of similar quality, I will be cancelling my membership and staying at my current gym.

Love the fact that this place has a car park. It's the reason I chose this gym as the one in town would be a nightmare to get to. I go quite early so the equipment is always free. There's plenty of equipment to choose from, everything is clean and well maintained. There's usually a staff member wandering around if you need assistance and you need to scan your gym barcode in order to get into the gym. Very secure.

Attended Puregym Brunswick on Thursday evening and found inadequate cleaning facilities in the weights area on the lower ground floor - there was a single spray bottle with no tissues. The cleaning station in the fitness area has 4 tissue dispensers and 4 antibacterial sprays. They had a similar cleaning station to this in the weights area before they replaced it with loose bottles and tissue rolls. I would expect Puregym to invest in their cleaning facilities to safeguard the health and safety of their clients by mitigating the spread of bacteria and viruses, particularly as we approach flu season this Winter. Profits before safety??

Good amount of parking but the gym is lacking in equipment compared to other puregyms, even the other puregym in central has more. Needs hack squat machine, glute bridge machine, a defined track for lunges / sled pulls. I raised this with puregym they just told me to dance in the sun basically Showers are hit and miss, when managers are in, they're cleanish when no heads are in it's a state. You'd probably get cleaner by jumping into the sefton park lake Would advise gym staff to challenge people more for being scruffs and not putting weights away or have more signs on the walls. Also challenge people that park right outside the gym in the disable spots (that are not) There's also a weird spiral staircase, it's meant to be "one way up" but people and even staff use it to go down as they're lazy so it ends up in a Mexican stand off on the spiral stairs Overall it's a cheap and cheerful gym but has potential to be decent

This gym was great for me as a beginner and as I’ve become more experienced I wouldn’t move anywhere else at this price point. Everything you need is in here, the staff and customers are always friendly and respectful. I’m slowly becoming more confident with the range of equipment and I’ve always felt comfortable with the non-judgmental and inclusive atmosphere.

I don’t mind this gym it’s very affordable and convenient for me, I would like if they would invest in a few more mirrors around the gym so I can check my form and appreciate what I’m building πŸ˜‰

All the PTs are the friendliest of any PureGym I've been to across the whole country, first thing I ever did here was Saturday Circuits with Jade and have not missed a single week since, one of the best classes there is, please never get rid

Love this gym staff are very co operative and supportive and friendly they also have helped me with getting myself on track. The classes I attend 5 days a week are great but I'm very disappointed that they are stopping the Sunday circuit class for a yoga class can someone tell me why when something works well and has a great response of members attendance Puregym have decided to take the Sunday circuit of. I welcome the yoga class but could this not be put on at another time. Please re consider this change as I am aware members who attend this class are absoluty gutted. Shirley Jensen-Elliott

Lovely gym you will never have to wait for a cardio machine but will inevitably wait for a space in the weights room. Cardio space should be about a 1/3 smaller which would solve the problems of waiting for weight machines and benches.

  • 3/5 Adam 2 years ago on Google
Friendly staff, very clean. However, very busy which leads to a lot of the equipment not being available. Leg machines are always used up in mornings and afternoons especially the leg extension which you will struggle to find free even at 10pm never mind during peak hours. Other equipment should be available during peak hours but you may have to wait 5 minutes or so. I really recommend the gym purchases another unit of each of the current leg exercise machines.

I was going to join, but after buying a guest pass and reading the newest reviews it just isn't good enough. Management need to sort out that mess of a gym.

Subpar I'd say. Music is blaringly loud!! No incline or decline bench press. One deadlift platform. No seated military press. Quite small.

Good clean gym, plenty of equipment. Does get busy at peak times, 6pm-8pm but all gyms do. The app works great, so you can see how many people are in and how busy it is. The app also let's check classes, bookings and timetable. Overall a great gym.

No cable grips for cable machines. Poor use of space and equipment. Not enough dumbbells. Dumbbell rack is a mess. Showers and toilet facilities are not nice. Even compared to other Pure Gyms, this is not a good gym. Bromborough and Bidston PureGyms are so much better.

Love this gym, staff so polite, always wearing their PPE and always one of them cleaning, often the manager no less and not just emptying bins. They offered to help me put my weights away and find others and always asked if i was ok when i looked lost in a new gym. Absolutely put the one in Stretford to shame, where trainers stand in groups unmasked, and there’s rarely anyone walking the gym but occasionally the actual manager and only sometimes ask people not to hang about in groups. how are they the same company?

Not the biggest free weight area but that's not for everyone anyway, could do with a few extra bits of kit but there is limited space so its forgivable. Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is lots of people ignore the wipe down policy and it doesn't seem to be policed at all which is annoying. but you get what you pay for and it's decent value for money.
