Be careful not to be fooled with a free room upgrade. Big metro works going on in front of hotel and they try to fill the front rooms with a “ free room upgrade” which road works starts at 7am and can be noisy. They should just be honest. My room was changed without a problem after the 1st night to a room at the back of the building and cannot hear anything from the roadworks now. The rest is perfect. Very nice staff, comfortable room and lovely breakfast.

It's a great location in the heart of Porto, great for exploring the city. The staff's genuine warmth and professionalism add a personal touch to the entire experience. The breakfast buffet is a solid start to each day. Overall this is a great value. The Portuguese hospitality is at its best at this hotel, making it an excellent choice for travelers seeking both comfort and convenience.

Beautiful hotel located in the heart of the city. There is ongoing city construction in front of the hotel, but we had no trouble finding the hotel. The valet immediately assisted us with parking our car and moving our luggage to our room. The staff was kind enough to upgrade us to a better room facing away from the construction. Hotel is located within walking distance to most tourist areas. All staff members from valet to reception to room service are amazing, extremely helpful, and polite. Turndown service was a surprise and much appreciated after a long day of walking in the city. Room and bathroom both were luxurious and very spacious. Overall, we are very delighted to have stayed here. Wouldn't hesitate to book it again. Thank you!

What a wonderful hotel . In keeping with all the IHG hotels I've stayed at . Extremely well positioned. We nearly cancelled because of works in front of hotel for the new underground. I'm glad we didn't, It had little impact if any. No noise at all, just a small detour 3 minute detour depending on where you went. If you used restaurant's back entrance it was easier than normal anyway ! The concierge service was exceptional- probably the best team I have ever come across. Well done !! I'm sure to come back soon!

If only there was a 4.5 rating possible. Fresh roses in the room are a nice touch, but for a good night of sleep during the construction period, we’ll recommend a room to the back and not the front. Staff is friendly and helpful, but the property itself is rather dated compared to other 5 stars in historic settings in the city center. Bar’s a destination, the restaurant offers a rather eclectic menu: side of sauerkraut?

The hotel has a great location. It’s in a historical building. Due to the construction around the hotel for the city’s subway extension project, the noise makes staying or sleeping in the room impossible. The noise starts 7:30am and stops 10:30pm. We would not stay at the hotel again until the construction is complete.

This was a special and once in a lifetime trip for our 10 year wedding anniversary and my 60th birthday. It was ruined by having to stay in this hotel. I was embarrassed in front of my wife for booking this hotel. This hotel is almost uninhabitable. This was the worst hotel stay I have had in hundreds of hotel stays in my life. The hotel website does not mention the incredibly loud and intrusive construction going on, right in front of the hotel. On top of the myriad issues the construction caused, there were other issues. There was little to no air conditioning. The room was very warm, and we could not get the AC to turn on most of the time. When it did, it did not cool the room down at all. A maintenance person explained something about how the outside temperature was overwhelming the ability of the AC to cool the rooms. All I know is the room was hard to sleep in due to the temperature, and we did not get one night of good sleep during a 5 night stay. The car traffic due to the construction right in front of the hotel makes taxi/Uber pickup and drop off dangerous and difficult. The foot traffic due to the construction right in front of the hotel is overwhelming, and unsafe. There were hordes of people near the front entry of the building due to the construction. Due to the construction in the front of the building we were told sometimes to exit in the back of the building to reach certain parts of the city. We'd walk through a maze of homeless and drug users in the back alley of the hotel. Very dangerous. The room was not very clean. Our safe broke with my passport locked inside! But it was fixed quickly. The bathroom sink backed up due to a clog. The shower stall had broken handles inside it. I could go on. When I complained after our stay, they did not reply. When I followed up, 8 days later, they said a manager would contact me, and they added 20,000 points to my IHG account. According to NerdWallet's analysis, 20,000 IHG points are worth about $140. That is an offensive offer after they destroyed 6 days/5 nights of vacation. Those are important memories lost and ruined. This hotel should be closed until the construction is completed. A manager did call me eventually, and left me a voicemail. At that point I was already back in the U.S. and a phone call would be diffcult, and I was too busy catching up on work to waste time on a phone call. I asked them to email me if they had any reply or solution, but I never heard back. I am going to write off my 5 nights in Porto. Bottom line is DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL UNTIL CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETE! I hear that may not be until 2025! If you want to enjoy Porto, and a have safe and quiet stay, pick another hotel.

Excellent central location for Porto. Great restaurant and services. They surprised us with a fruits and chocolate plate, chocolate cake, and champagne. We also got voucher for free massages, drinks, and dinner.

This is one of the best hotels I've had the pleasure to stay at. Even with the construction in front of the hotel, it's one of the most convenient locations for visiting the city's major attractions. The rooms are elegant, comfortable and spacious and we especially loved the soaking tub! Very nice bar, excellent service and staff, and beautiful historic building.

Very friendly staffs and nice room and bed. Valet service was really good, location was very good too. Saturday bunch was nice but lunch wasn’t as expected, ordered a 79 euro seafood rice for two, it came with a small pot and few seafood, not even enough for one and the restaurant service was slow.

I booked this hotel for a special occasion. The team did such a good job on arranging the surprise for my partner. The breakfast was amazing (lots of variety). Staff very attentive and friendly. The hotel itself was stunning. Great location also.

The room was out of the world. It was one of the biggest rooms I have stayed in. Bathroom was excellent with all amenities and lots of space. Thee was both a tub and a separate shower area. Staff were very friendly. Although we did not use the restaurant there, it appeared very nice. I would definitely stay here again.

Service was good overall. Hotel needs to be updated. Rooms are big and comfy bed. For breakfast you have very simple options for 5 star hotel. Dinner at the restaurant was also regular. Location is superb.

The food is so gross and expensive. I ordered a beef carpaccio that was FROZEN. And a a picaña burger that was so GROSS. The waitress were very very nice and provided a very good service.

We had the most wonderful stay at intercontinental Porto, hands down one of the best hotels (if not the best) that I have stayed at in terms of service. Our daughter threw up at night, and the housekeeping came up during Christmas Eve to take it to clean overnight, free of charge! We also had a wonderful Christmas dinner at the bar and the service level is impeccable. Breakfast has a good spread (and has house champagne!) and again, super attentive service. Would come back again to stay in Porto!

Without warning about the construction and noise taking place by the hotel. Many complaints from guests as they were all talking about the noise at breakfast Work noise is 24/7..take note Each guest gets a complimentary pouch with eye patches , ear plugs and a small bottle of pillow potion to help you sleep Staffs at reception showed uninterested, cold, indifferent attitude. ---did not get a welcoming feeling I could put this visit comparable to 3*+ hotel Pro: it's the ONLY thing I like this occasion it is in a central location .,very convenient and near to metro ,train station and plenty of good eateries around.

Shocked to discover our room had a view of constructions that can work 24/7. Felt this was not made clear enough. As accomodating as the staff could have been, the hotel was booked and unable to provide what we had hoped. Would wait until constructions finished before returning to this hotel. One of the worst pasta dishes at a place recommended by concierge. Perhaps an off night.

Except for the construction which is still going to go on for another 2 years. Knowing this there’s some inconvenience like if you are driving or getting dropped off by Uber. But almost everywhere is within walking distance, just need to make sure you put on a good pair of shoes. Service was lovely, would definitely stay again for a return visit when all the constructions are hopefully done.

Stayed here for our visit to Porto. It’s very well located. I’d give it 3.5 stars if google let me. Unfortunately, Porto is undergoing a lot of construction on the metro and it has really disrupted the front of this hotel. Not the hotels fault but it soured our experience. The lobby and dining room are beautiful. The breakfast buffet was disappointing. The bread was stale and food was picked over by time we sat down for breakfast at 9 am. The rooms were very small. The shower was a bathtub that was tough to get in and out of. The bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and the place was clean. They gave us a coupon for free drinks at the bar to try and make up for the construction which was nice. I’d only consider staying here again if the construction was completed because the views from the rooms in the front of the hotel and location would make up for any other shortfalls.

What an amazing hotel! I loved every minute spent on it! Rooms were amazing and the service over there was incredible. My nephews loved it also, and the waiters always came with some small presents to make them happy. We arrived on the day the they started the barbeque season in the garden, and it was super nice! Planning to go back soon!

We stayed here for only two nights and it was amazing, it is well located and walking distance of many important sites of Porto. Breakfast is a little disappointing but not too bad. Staff is really friendly and helpful.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights in July 2023. Our stay was truly top notch. We were treated with 5 star service the moment we arrived. Maria Pia at the front desk was so welcoming and kind. The room was very spacious and comfortable - with excellent amenities like a Nespresso machine and Byredo products in the bathroom. Charles at the bar was so friendly and made many great local recommendations. Yes, there is construction going on in front of the hotel, but the staff are doing everything they can to accommodate guests and make everything as convenient as possible. The breakfast buffet had a plethora of delicious options, the service was great, and the restaurant was very beautiful. We will definitely stay here each time we visit Porto!

We absolutely loved our stay at the InterContinental Porto. Staff were super friendly, professional, and courteous. They always had a big smile on their face and seem to enjoy working there, which is very important. They went above and beyond to assist us with tourism-related questions, restaurant bookings, and so on. Their concierges are phenomenal, and we loved their patio area. Very chic and great service. One downside is that their rooms are on a smaller side, however, we understand that this is a protected area and they are not allowed to change the layout. Well done to amazing staff and management.

I stayed here for 3 nights in mid-November and really enjoyed it. My room was very comfortable and the bathroom was large. Breakfast was excellent and I had dinner 2 nights in the restaurant which was also excellent. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. I would stay here again when I visit Porto.

We had an amazing time staying in the duplex suite. The 2 floors suite is spacious, beautiful, modern and clean. There is a bathroom, TV and sofa on both floors, which is our favourite part. Top services all the way, staffs are very friendly and helpful (especially the concierge kindly helped us to sort out a restaurant booking issue in Portuguese). We enjoyed the breakfast too, great selection with both the buffet and dishes on the special menu. Perfect location at the city center and right next to the train station/ metro. Great stay, highly recommend.

Loved it! From the time we were received until we left, the service was absolutely top notch. The room was very nice and super clean with a nice view to the station - a classic. There are construction next to the hotel, but it’s not bothersome. It is very conveniently located within walking distance of everything. They also have a very nice backyard with a wonderful casual setting. Would highly recommend.

We only stayed one night, the hotel is very central (although sadly work on the new tube station means it is not such a great view as before). The rooms were very nice and the service was also very good. The bar was very busy and the staff were helpful but had little time to clear tables. The breakfast was very nice as well and we were well looked after.

The hotel is beautiful. The room is larger than I expected. Bath room is easy to use. Breakfast dining room is gorgeous. Sadly the coffee is terribly bad and the pastry is not that crispy, but the rest are all good. The fresh juice is wonderfully tasty.

Visited Porto and decided to stay at the InterContinental Porto based on all the positive reviews and I'm very happy I did. The service was excellent, the room was spotless and the views to the city center beautiful. I left the hotel in a rush and left my watch in the room. Fortunately, hotel manegement informed me immediately and shipped the watch at the next location I visited in Lisbon. I wish I could give this hotel more than 5 stars for the amazing experience. THANK YOU SO MUCH InterContinental Porto!! I'm so happy to share this experience and well deserved review.

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely hotel. It's the first time we have stayed in an Intercontinental hotel in Europe so we were looking forward to comparing the services to their Asia hotels. It did not disappoint in room standards and the building is really very special. My wife is an IHG Ambassador and the hotel was kind enough to give us a free room upgrade. This was a very good start to our stay and much appreciated. We were very happy with all aspects of our stay apart from: We were disappointed that on returning to the hotel after a full day of sightseeing we just wanted to relax and have a couple of drinks and perhaps something off the bar snacks menu. This hotel does not have a separate bar so you have to go to the restaurant where there is a small area with a few tables. There was a bar snack menu on our table but when I tried to order from it I was told I would need to order room service and eat in my room. It was about 9pm and I did not want to go to my room. It made us feel like we were an inconvenience so the second evening we found a local hotel to have our evening food and drinks. Thankfully we went on to stay in the Intercontinental in Estoril and had none of these issues. In our opinion this hotel need to be more flexible about guests needs.

Stayed here in Dec 2021 and it was the perfect location while staying in Porto. We had some laundry for washing after a long trip prior which they took care of immediately. It was decorated in all holiday decor which was beautiful! I had got food poisoning before coming and the concierge sent tea, chocolates, soaps and a balloon to my room as he knew it was my birthday. They accommodated my need for some simple pasta as well. Perfect location and amazing staff!

A+ service. The staff are the most polite, welcoming and helpful group you could ask for. From check in, to concierge, to wait staff, perfect all around. Beautiful and clean rooms. Location is excellent, close to everything. Will never stay anywhere else in Porto.
