You'd be forgiven for thinking this building is a grand museum or something like that, but amazingly this building is a municipal government building. Featuring a clocktower and ornate details, it's a magnificent example neoclassical architecture.

The most impressive city hall I have seen. A must visit point in Porto. I recommend getting here early in the morning, otherwise there is a line to take a picture near the sign. Near the city hall there are a lot of nice cafes to sit in and start the day especially since most of the hotels and apartments are near or on the street of the city hall.

Great historical building. A must see in oporto. It sits at the top of the city main square. Its the best meeting point you can have. Take a 360 view around, all the buildings are of the same era, it is a post card of the city. Every major party is held here at the square.

Building with interesting architecture. Inside there’s a free really fascinating exhibit on Portugal during ww2, and spies/espionage. Definitely worth checking out.

Impressive city Hall, once you see it you see how much it dominates the view, even with huge buildings and apartments in the surrounding areas it captures your eyes.

A Porto must! This majestic building dates back to the early twentieth century and has an elegant facade. Already from a distance it shows its grandeur with the central tower, seventy metres high and on which you can admire a clock with a music box. At the height of the first floor, you can admire an oval plaster medallion, decorated with garlands of laurel leaves and with an inscription in tribute to the memory of Almeida Garrett, writer, diplomat, orator, reformer of the national theatre and pioneer of Romanticism in Portugal. A statue is also dedicated to him right in front of the Town Hall. In the path I followed to reach the building I noticed numerous other statues. In particular, I was struck by that of the “Menina Nua” (= naked girl) depicted sitting, which stands out with its white colour; it is considered a monument dedicated to young people and, in fact, is placed on the “Fontana della Giovinezza”. A must visit

Definitely worth a visit to Porto's City Hall. I love the architecture. Currently there is a large blue "Porto" sign. You have to jostle with other tourists to get your photo. Just a reminder to be respectful.

The construction of the monumental City Hall of Porto started in 1920. It was inaugurated in 1957. The architect is Correia da Silva. The building has on its facade important elements like the Coat of Arms of Porto, not the official one, which we see in the hall, but the one that carries the Heart of the greatest hero of the Invicta city and also of it's people: indomitable and immortal. It's definitely one of the most beautiful buildings in Porto.
