Initially,
when
I
joined
the
gym
back
in
November,
I
thought
it
was
a
decent
place.
However,
after
six
months
of
training,
which
includes
three
months
of
personal
training,
I
have
come
to
the
conclusion
that
my
experience
at
Core
has
been
less
than
optimal.
First
of
all,
let
me
start
with
some
technical
difficulties
that
I
have
faced.
The
ratio
of
equipment
to
trainees
is
abysmal.
By
the
time
you
are
trying
to
move
on
to
your
third
set
three
more
people
are
in
line
to
use
the
same
equipment,
which
means
that
your
inter-set
rest
period
goes
beyond
the
optimal
1-2
min
mark,
which
results
in
a
sub-optimal
training
session.
The
equipment
available
is
also
pretty
basic.
The
most
notable
absence
in
the
roster
are
those
of
hip
abduction
and
hip
thrust
machines.
The
owners
of
the
gym
clearly
have
an
obsession
with
the
number
one
as
there
is
only
ONE
lats-pull
down
machine,
ONE
pec
dec
machine,
ONE
squat
rack,
ONE
bench-press,
ONE
incline
bench
press,
one
decline
bench
press,
etc.
It
is
quite
evident
that
space
is
an
issue
in
this
gym.
Treadmill
malfunctions
are
a
common
occurrence,
which
in
some
scenarios
can
be
fatal.
Now
let
me
analyse
the
staff.
This
Gym
is
heavily
under-staffed
in
terms
of
trainers.
There
is
only
one
general
trainer
for
on
the
floor
at
a
given
time,
and
the
rest
are
all
personal
trainers.
The
gym
clearly
gives
more
preference
to
clients
of
personal
trainers.
I
have
had
several
instances
where
mid
way
through
an
exercise,
a
personal
trainer
would
come
in,
completely
reconfigure
my
equipment
setup
and
start
training
their
clients
without
my
consent.
So
if
you
are
somebody
who
wants
to
embark
on
your
fitness
journey
on
your
own,
this
is
probably
not
the
place
for
you.
I
have
had
experiences
in
terms
of
training
on
my
own
as
well
as
training
under
a
personal
trainer.
I
did
not
observe
any
significant
difference
in
growth
either
in
my
physique
or
in
my
technique
while
I
was
training
under
a
personal
trainer.
This
is
by
no
means
a
reflection
on
all
personal
trainers
at
CORE
or
otherwise.
The
primary
reason
behind
this
lack
of
difference
has
got
to
do
with
lack
of
personalization.
I
was
given
the
most
generic
training
program,
and
the
most
generic
diet
plan
to
follow.
So
If
you
are
somebody
who
wants
to
blindly
follow
a
routine
and
a
diet
and
are
satisfied
with
sub-optimal
results,
then
a
personal
trainer
at
CORE
would
be
great.
However,
if
you
want
fitness
to
be
a
journey
and
expect
a
supportive
community
this
is
probably
not
the
place
for
you.
There
is
also
a
lack
of
general
professionalism
among
the
trainers.
They
make
up
these
arbitrary
rules
that
make
no
sense,
and
are
there
simply
to
stroke
their
egos
which
are
as
inflated
as
their
gym
muscles.
One
of
the
trainers
told
me
to
not
keep
bench
on
the
green
turf
area.
The
irony
of
the
situation
was
that
there
is
a
tire-flip
machine
that
has
been
on
the
turf
since
ages
and
gets
dragged
on
the
turf
on
a
regular
basis.
Overall,
I
found
CORE
gym
to
be
mediocre.
It
is
by
no
means
a
premium
gym,
neither
in
terms
of
training
facilities
nor
otherwise.
If
you
are
a
casual
fitness
enthusiast,
you
can
try
it
out,
but
if
you
are
serious
about
lifting
then
I
suggest
you
try
other
options.
