This place serves as a rich source of history of Moulana Abul Kalam Azad's life story and his achievements. Many of his personal belongings and awards, including the "Bharat Ratna" is displayed here. But, not so many people have a knowledge to this place on account of it's location, which is pretty inwards. Only one room is for display, which is quite a disappointment.

House of Maulana Azad , the house was basically rented from Nashkar family of Kolkata. Near to Bhawanipur. Very few people know about it. The crowd is very thin. There is just one room on display. The display includes the Bharat Ratna robe, scroll and the trademark hat of Maulana Azad. The staff is courtoeus. The museum is difficult to locate from the main road hence depend upon the google map for direction. Entry ₹10. Photography allowed.

Walking down the historical lanes... Let's explore the residence of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, one of the prominent national leaders of India. Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first Minister of Education and Culture of India stayed in this house between 1932-1947. He rented this house from freedom fighter Hem Naskar. In this house, Azad's wife Begum Zulekha breathed her last in 1943. The house treasures artifacts belonging to Maulana Azad and his family. This is a heritage building. In 2005, this house was undertaken by the West Bengal Government due to the initiative made by Gopalkrishna Gandhi, the then Governor of West Bengal. Finally, the museum was inaugurated in 2006. It is maintained under the supervision of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies. There are two galleries in the ground floor. 1. Main Gallery : It contains- I. Photographs II. Bharat Ratna- Awarded to Maulana Azad posthumously. III. Furnitures- Dressing table, corner table, round table. IV. Things used by Maulana Azad- Embroidered choga and shawl, cotton topi, woolen topi, black trouser, spectacles cover, spectacles, wooden walking stick. V. Personal belongings of Maulana Azad and his family- Ashtrays made of wood and ceramic, garland and locket made of zari, badges made of metal and zari, leather bag, tea box. 2. Corridor : It comprises wooden furnitures including almirah, dressing table, chairs, utensil box, writing table, book shelf, cash box, secretariat table, rahel, crockery box, tool, letter box, tray. There is another small gallery on the first floor which showcases cloths and utensils e.g., soup plate, curry bowl, saucer, egg serving bowl, Chinese tea cup, Chinese teapot. The museum is good, but not organised. The museum can be made more interesting to the visitors. I saw several cracks in the walls of the building. There is an immediate need of renovation of this house. Museum opening days : Monday-Friday Museum opening hours : 10:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. There is no entry fee.

Small museum in Honor of one of the first receipent of Bharat Ratna. The Bharat Scroll and the medallion is there. When you see the garments which Maulana wore or the leather bag he carried , you are amazed at the simplicity of our leaders who brought freedom to our country

The Maulana Azad Museum is a valuable repository of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad's life and accomplishments, providing a wealth of historical information. It showcases a range of personal items and prestigious awards, such as the "Bharat Ratna," bestowed upon him. However, due to its relatively remote location, not many people are aware of this museum. Additionally, visitors may be disappointed to find that only one room is dedicated to the displays, limiting the overall experience. There is no entry fee required to enter the museum. Additionally I must mention that the security personnel who are appointed here are very friendly in nature.

The meusem is so good. This is much better than those of Victoria memorial.it has all the personal items of maulana azad and the most important....you can see bharat Ratna.t There is no crowd at all and the guard is also very sweet and friendly. It is absolutely free of cost which is utopian for such a great museum. Pls come here to know about a place which witnessed many congree sessions.
