Located next to the GPO, this is a fantastic museum for lovers of philately. Entry is free however they strictly don't permit any sort of photography which is a major bummer. From old stamps to how the postal department used to run a transportation service during the Raj era, I learnt a lot. The displays and staff were fantastic but I was so sad not to get to capture anymore for research.

This museum has recently been renovated and if you are in the city as a visitor or just living in this city then you should visit this museum. But it is not a large museum. It just consists of four rooms and is about 700 to 800 square feet for the whole museum. The small size of the museum is overshadowed by the amazing collection. It has some invaluable items like postal stamps, letters, rare postal insurance documents, medals, telegraph machine, coin invalidating machines and many other important artefacts in their collection. This is a must for any philately buff and heritage lover.

Not very popular and I think not a lot of people are aware that this museum exists. A pretty niche place hidden away amidst the office of Kolkata GPO. This museum has a lot of elements regarding the development of postal structure from British India to the modern times including a list of several post master tokens, lamps and dress codes used and even paintings depicting the tales of a distant past. Entry is free to all.

This recently renovated museum has a lot of invaluable postal items, medals, tools of runners, stamps etc. Recently, on 150th birth anniversary of Gandhiji, a new gallery had been opened. Also, the plaque in the site of "Black Hole of Calcutta" can be found here.
