The erstwhile residence of Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose (renowned Bengali physicist, botanist and archaeologist), Acharya Bhavan was constructed in the year 1902 and known to have served as the hub of Bengal Renaissance. This is the building where Acharya and his wife Abala Bose played host to many renowned personalities of that time, including Tagore, G B Shaw, Vivekananda, Romain Rolland, Sister Nivedita, Prasanta Mahalanobis, PC Ray and Meghnad Saha. this 111-year-old building has been recently renovated into a museum.  For anyone interested in knowing about the inspirational life and works of Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose, a visit to this museum is an absolute must. Here, you can come up close and personal with many items and artefacts that belonged to J C Bose. His distinctive instruments, laboratory and priceless collections of art are well-preserved in this museum. Frescoes designed by Nandalal Bose and Abanindranath Tagore are among the museum's main highlights.

After my visit to this great place one line from Tagore is still resonating in my mind: আমার মাথা নত করে দাও হে তোমার চরণধুলার তলে। This is the place where the great scientist Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose, who was a renowned Bengali polymath and natural scientist (the scientific contributions of Acharya J.C. Bose in both physical and biological sciences are colossal), lived with his wife Abala Bose. This heritage building is also carrying the science vibes of many renowned personalities of that time such as Tagore, Vivekananda, Sister Nivedita, Prasanta Mahalanobis, PC Ray, Meghnad Saha and many others. This century old building has recently been opened to the public as a museum. The building is truly historic and one can truly feel the waves of scientific discoveries and life-events of this great scientist. This is a must visit place and highly inspiring. His Quote: "I dedicate today this Institute – not merely a Laboratory but a Temple" Sri J. C. Bose

Museum is opened only three days a week, that too for 4 hours. Satudays and Sundays are closed, which makes impossible for the school kids to come. The garden could have been more beautiful, lack of initiave to keep it nicer .

The house of Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose, the famous and great scientist of Bengal who was a polymath, physicist, biologist, biophysicist, botanist and archaeologist, and an early writer of science fiction. Living in British India, he pioneered the investigation of radio and microwave optics, made significant contributions to plant science, and laid the foundations of experimental science in the Indian subcontinent. This museum is still very much a work in progress. Artifacts have been exhibited, but plaques explaining their historic significance were absent, reducing the utility of the exhibits.

The place where Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose, Kabiguru Rabindranath Thakur and other stalwarts discussed science, philosophy and art, gives you goosebumps. The house has a collection of the original experimental equipment used in the famous experiments of Bose as well as paintings by the great Indian artists Nandalal Bose, Gaganendranath Thakur, Abanindranath Thakur.
