The memorial is dedicated to the Komagata Maru incident martyrs. A beautiful quaint place located around 1.5 kms from the budge budge station. The memorial is located behind the oil and petroleum tankers and refineries. There's no auto services from the station and one has to book an auto if needed otherwise walk straight from the station to the level crossing and take the immediate left along the narrow road. The place is a must see for history buffs and lovers.

This place will serve as a Memorial Building and museum to the previously built Komagata Maru Shaheed Ganj, just ahead of this place. This building is built by Kolkata Port Trust and Komagata Maru Committee. This building took its inspiration from the famous "Komagata Maru" Ship of Japan, in which the Martyrs were there. Has all the basic amenities like bathrooms in every floor, an office, a museum and a library. It also has an elevator service to the 2nd floor.

Komagata Maru was a steamship owned by the Shinyei Kisen Goshi Kaisa of Japan. She was built as a cargo ship in 1890 and had previously been known as both SS Stubbenhuk and SS Sicilia while sailing for two different German owners. She was later renamed Heian Maru. She was wrecked at Cape Soyedomari, Hokkaido, Japan, on 11 February 1926. Komagata Maru has turned Budge Budge into an everlasting holy place of martyrs in the great expense of Indian Freedom struggle as significant as the Jalianwalabagh episode in Amritsar. The Komagata Maru episode is an important chapter of Indian resistance to British rule in India. This historical place is for the unfortunate killing of around 50 innocent Shiks on the morning of 29th September 1914 by the British Administration. It is about 1.5 km from komagatamaru budge budge railway station. No direct auto service.
