Absolutely enchanting. Beautiful place that brings peace and calm to anyone. I visited the Math with my friends, early in the morning, in soft sunlight, and the place looked absolutely magnificent. There's also a lot of things that are historically significant, as well as religiously. If you're in the vicinity and have time, do try and visit this place.

A beautiful and peaceful place . People can usually hang out with friends , family in the evening.Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission are worldwide, non-political, non-sectarian spiritual organizations which have been engaged in various forms of humanitarian, social service activities for more than a century. Inspired by the ideals of renunciation and service, the monks and lay devotees of the Math and Mission serve millions of men, women and children, without any distinction of caste, religion or race, because they see the living God in them.

A Monumental landmark and the headquarters of Ramakrishna Math. The main temple is imposing and pleases everyone with its exquisite architecture. Wow! Marvellous edifice...surrounded by lush greenary, supremely clean and huge space. Then there is the park adjacent to The Howrah River. The ambience will blow you away. Overall, a visit to Belur Math is always sublime & divine.

(Translated by Google) Belur Monastery is a beautiful place in the Ganges. From the temple of Dakshineshwar Mai, the Ganges had to come to Belur Math by boat over the Ganges. Here it is to go down to Belur Math founded by Swami Vivekananda. The place was excellent . But why is photography prohibited outside. If it is prohibited then what is the use of constructing such a beautiful math . Prohibiting photos inside is fine but outside and also in the surroundings is not . Even inside the museum it is not allowed . Apart from that , a scenic place which gives you peace of mind !. They are grabbing the phones if we try to take pictures . Somehow I managed to click a couple of shots .

This stunning Ramakrishna Math complex on the Hooghly combines Eastern and Western influences in a temple that's equal parts architectural marvel and spiritual place. Soak in the teachings of Ramakrishna and Vivekananda, and leave feeling centered and connected. Recommended visit in the city.

Belur Math is a place for spiritual reflection and cultural exploration. It is well-decorated, well-maintained, and well-organized. Its architectural beauty and silent ambiance will mesmerize you. What is particularly significant is that a separate ramp has been created at the back of the main temple for physically challenged individuals. Last week, I went with my mother, who uses a wheelchair, and we successfully visited the temple premises, including the main temple area. We were highly satisfied.

There is nothing at this place. Don’t waste your time and energy. It’s just an open ground at the place marked. In fact, Google should take it down for the time being, till it’s actually built, from Google maps. Don’t follow the reviews telling it’s good, they are just misleading. I went myself there, but found nothing.

A wonderful place if you are planning to spend some time in peace and reflect on your spirituality. It is peaceful and special on a spiritual level. Definitely recommended to visit. The "Prasad" they provide at a very low cost or even without any cost is really delicious. The whole complex is very well maintained. The place is very clean and is surrounded by trees some of which are more than a couple hundred years old. The place is very calm and inviting. The staff are very nice and helpful. The priests are warm and welcoming. The riverside temples and the riverside deck as a whole are maintained very well. There is no clutter or foul smells like in many places. Many buildings are still under construction. Only problem is the time limit. If you are planning to spend much time here, I will recommend you to start your journey early and reach here as early as possible as the place closes at about 11:00 and remains closed till the evening. The main temple is really beautiful and peaceful. There is a policy of strict silence. The floors are very clean and perfect for meditation. In conclusion, Belur is the perfect place to visit atleast once in a lifetime for everyone. It is perfect to reflect on yourself and your spirituality.

Great place to visit... Holly place with holly deeds... Everyday the workers there are feeding 5000+ people... Also the place is well maintained and pollution free. There are small temples inside along with the main one. Attraction for photographers, peace seekers, dayouts with family and loved ones... One can willingly opt for Sewa for a day or half and donations in person or through online means. Also, one can become a member of regular donations. Receipts are provided for the same along with the projects they are working on, also, how they are helping the community with there contributions. Affordable ways to visit there are - 1. By local train - Belur Math is a station in Howrah local line with good frequencies of trains. 2. By Ferry, within every 10 to 15 minutes they have scheduled ferries for the same. Small food stalls are available just outside the place for minimal refreshments. Overall a good experience to visit this place.

Its the main temple of belur math . Sri ramakrishna paramhansha is worshiped here. This is one of the calm & peaceful place in Kolkata. The place is made by Swami Vivekananda. The concept of Ramakrishna Mission. The Mission works on the vision of Shri Ramakrishna Paramhansha Dev. The best philosopher in Bengal . Ramakrishna was the guru of the Swami Vivekananda. He was the priest of the temple of Dakshineswar Kali. The Belur Math is situated just opposite of the Dakshineswar Kali temple. The two temples are divided by river Bhagirathi (basically a part of river Ganges). Belur Math place is very clean & well maintained .People go there for meditation and internal peace.

Gorgeous temple, you can’t take photos as is standard, but the grounds are very accessible to walk around and observe the religious ceremonies, particularly the chanting ceremony is humbling to witness. Such devotion and reverence. Took the Vivada Tours boat trip to get up here, I think in hindsight, I’d go in a taxi and spend more time, but the boat ride was fantastic.

Belur Math has a sense of peace and tranquility. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, with lush gardens and meandering pathways. There is a sense of calm and serenity that permeates the entire complex, and it is easy to forget about the hustle and bustle of the city outside. I spent a few hours wandering around Belur Math, visiting the different temples, reading about the history of the Ramakrishna movement, and simply enjoying the peace and quiet. It was a truly unforgettable experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a place to relax and connect with their spiritual side.

Revive the Spirit at Belur Math: A Journey of Spiritual Renewal and Service Belur Math, the spiritual heart of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, offers a unique opportunity for revival – of the spirit, of the mind, and even of the body. Here are some ways you can revive yourself at Belur Math: Spiritual Renewal: Immerse yourself in the serene atmosphere: The sprawling campus with its lush greenery, the chanting of devotees, and the peaceful riverbank setting create a conducive environment for introspection and spiritual growth. Explore the teachings of Ramakrishna and Vivekananda: Attend lectures, discourses, and exhibitions to gain deeper insights into their philosophies of Vedanta and service to humanity. Meditate in the sacred spaces: The Ramakrishna temple, the Vivekananda temple, and the various meditation halls offer quiet spaces to practice mindfulness and connect with your inner self. Participate in devotional rituals: Witnessing the daily rituals like arati, puja, and chanting can be a deeply moving and uplifting experience. Mental and Physical Rejuvenation: Enjoy the natural beauty: Take a stroll along the Ganges riverbank, breathe in the fresh air, and appreciate the serene landscape. Engage in mindful activities: Participate in yoga sessions or meditation workshops offered by the Math to find inner peace and clarity. Volunteer for service: The Math offers various opportunities to volunteer for social service activities, which can be deeply rewarding and bring a sense of purpose. Explore the local area: Visit nearby historical sites, museums, and cultural centers to learn about the rich heritage of Bengal. Maintain silence and respect: Be mindful of other visitors who are seeking peace and contemplation. Stay hydrated and bring sun protection: The weather in Kolkata can be hot and humid, so be prepared accordingly. Remember, revival at Belur Math is a personal journey. Take your time, explore what resonates with you, and open yourself to the transformative power of this sacred space. Bonus: For a truly unforgettable experience, consider attending one of the major festivals celebrated at Belur Math, such as Durga Puja or Ramakrishna's birthday. A very peaceful place I must say. Do visit if you are new to Kolkata, you will surely love the place as a whole. The scenic beauty around, with the River Ganga beside, and the pleasant environment with so many trees and birds. It is so much more relaxing and calming in the evening, to sit in the open green fields, enjoying the view of the river on one side and the view of sunset on the other side. It is an ideal location for you, even if you are travelling alone or with your loved ones.

Belur Math is the Headquarters of the Ramkrishna Mission & Math , it was founded by Swami Vivekananda, the chief disciple of Sri Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansadev. It is the most popular Pilgrimage in kolkata & Howrah. Almost every day pilgrims flock here. It is situated on just the bank of Hooghly river popularly known as 'Ganga'. It is a very systematic and well disciplined place. It is very famous for Durga Puja and 'Kumari Puja' on Ashtami. This temple is notable for its architecture that fuses Christian, Islamic, Hindu & Buddhist art motifs as a symbol of unity of all religions. This beautiful temple was consecrated on 14th January, 1938. Peoples of all religions are allowed to visit this mesmerizing place. Overall it's a very peaceful, well mannered, well maintained area. Like it. 🙏🕉

Reaching Belur Math from the ferry is a delightful journey along the Hooghly River. After disembarking the ferry at the Belur Math Ghat, a short walk through lush gardens leads you to the main entrance. The scenic route provides glimpses of the iconic temple, creating a serene and anticipatory atmosphere. The proximity to the river and the well-maintained pathways enhance the overall experience, making the journey from the ferry an integral part of the visit to Belur Math.

Belur Math is a must visit place for a person who believes in Swami Vivekananda's ideology. Construction of Belur Math was started in 1936 to make Swami Vivekananda's dream a reality. It was inaugurated on 14 January 1938.There is a huge worship room inside the temple. There is a white marble statue of Sri Ramakrishna on the altar. Over time, the Ramakrishna Math and the headquarters of the mission were established here. This institution has occupied an important place in the life of Bengali society as a sacred center for spreading Swami Vivekananda's social thought and spiritual practice. A museum has also been set up here to display the history of Ramakrishna Math and Mission. Many tourists from abroad come here to see the beauty of this temple in memory of Ramakrishna.

But it's free of cost or what ever you want to give they will accept and give you a lunch coupon and the place of the lunch is very hygienic but the only thing is the taste of the food... The KMOMA had been estimated to cost about Rs 500 crore and is set to be built on a 10-acre plot in the nearby township of New Town by the state government, is designed by acclaimed Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, who created the Bird's Nest stadium for the Beijing Olympics. The Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee had laid the foundation stone for this project in November 2013. The KMOMA is located along the Major Arterial Road (part of Biswa Bangla Sarani) in Action Area - II of New Town at 22°35′55″N 88°28′03″E. The park will be surrounded by Akankha on the north, the New Town Eco Park and Kolkata International Convention Center on the south, the upcoming Central Business District and International Financial Hub on the east, and existing human settlement of Jatragachi/Hatiara on the west and south-west. I love this because i like history. And it is best.

This is such a beautiful spiritual place. The moment you step inside its premises you will feel a difference, a sudden feel of calmness in your mind. One is required to enter barefooted inside the premises. The main temple is a piece of art and is quite mesmerizing. I even meditated here for around 10 minutes and I felt so much relaxed, energysed and positive from inside and out. Moreover, this place has got a rich history.

Beluṛ Maṭh  is the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, founded by Swami Vivekananda, the chief disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. It is located on the west bank of Hooghly River, Belur, West Bengal, India and is one of the significant institutions in Kolkata. This temple is the heart of the Ramakrishna Movement. The temple is notable for its architecture that fuses Christian, Islamic, Hindu and Buddhist art motifs as a symbol of unity of all religions. In 2003 Belur Math railway station was also inaugurated which is dedicated to Belur Math Temple.

Located just beside Lake Kalibari and near to Deshapriya Park and Rabindra Sarowar Lake, it is a center of art and culture. It's a great place for holding exhibitions on art, photography, textiles etc. One can also do a courses in arts, sculpture and such subjects. Good location makes it accessible from any point and it has nice ambiance. There is a small auditorium for exhibition. Very peaceful place.

In summers, visit during early morning hours or late evening otherwise it gets too hot and humid in the sun. In winters, the weather is very pleasant. Apart from the main temple building, also visit the old shrine, old monastery, and Swami Vivekananda’s room. Try to visit Dakshineswar from there via ferry.

Headquarters of Ramakrishna mission. Belur math is a very popular tourist attraction situated right beside the mighty Ganga river. It is situated in belur and is a place fot attaining peace of mind. Everyday thousands of people are served food here. The garden inside the math is extraordinarily beautiful. It is also very beautiful to behold. There are hundreds of types of trees in here and each one is marked with an identification board. The math temple is also a piece of engineering marvel.

Ramakrishna Temple, Belur Math, is a place of international pilgrimage significant due to the fact that Swami Vivekananda placed the relics of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa here and envisioned a unique temple to house them. Before his debut in the Parliament of Religions (1893) at Chicago, Swami Vivekananda had wandered about many historically important places of India looking for the signs of the greatness as well as for the reasons for the decline of her ancient culture.

Belur Math in Kolkata is an enchanting and spiritually serene location that beautifully blends architecture, tranquility, and a sense of divinity. The place boasts an ambiance that transcends mere sightseeing; it’s an experience that tugs at the heart. The architecture, an amalgamation of various styles, is captivating and carries a unique charm. Visitors can relish the calmness while taking a boat ride in the Hooghly River, allowing for a deeper connection with the surroundings. The journey by boat not only offers a picturesque view but also instills a sense of peace. The seamless blend of spirituality, architectural brilliance, and the opportunity to communicate with nature through the boat ride makes Belur Math a must-visit destination for those seeking solace and cultural enrichment.

The Birla Academy of Art & Culture was established in 1967 with the principal objective of fostering the growth of art and culture with emphasis on visual and performing arts. In this time, the Academy has established itself as a centre of cultural, artistic and educational activities. It all started when Sri & Smt B.K. Birla; foremost industrialists of India, had started collecting rare and valuable treasures of art out of their profound love for art & beauty. With a sizeable collection in place, it was decided that such veritable treasure troves of history should be accessible to all. A public Charitable Trust was created in 1962 with a view to collecting, preserving and exhibiting art objects for the public. For accommodating the proposed institute, the present eleven storied building was completed in 1966 and it was formally inaugurated under the name “Birla Academy of Art & Culture” by Karan Singh in 1967. It is now one of the premier museums and art galleries of the country. It consists of spacious display-halls, necessary for full-fledged cultural centre of modern importance. The main activities of the Academy consist of : Collecting, preserving and displaying museum objects Hosting exhibitions of Indian and International Art objects Organizing cultural performances Educational programmes of varied nature The museum of the Academy has a distinct character of its own and depicts the growth and development of Indian art from 1st century, B.C. till now. The museum houses works by many celebrated contemporary Indian artists as well as few fine specimens of modern western art. The Garden adjacent to the Academy is often used for open air expositions, art-fairs and cultural performances. In order to unearth hidden and young talent, the Academy organizes All India Annual Exhibitions, one man shows, Group shows and Kala melas at regular intervals. In the field of performing arts, a cultural performance is organized once in a month. The Academy is not only concerned about India’s glorious artistic past. It also promotes artistic activities and to help artists, the Academy lets out its 2nd and 4th floor Galleries including Auditorium to artists, art societies and cultural groups at a very nominal rent. The Academy also holds Educational programmes, lectures, seminars, film shows, workshops and art appreciation classes. The Academy maintains an impressive library with a fine and eclectic collection of art books, journals and periodicals for public use.

A peaceful place to visit on the banks of the Ganges river. It is usually crowded most of the time thanks to several hundreds of devotees, but somehow you will still find a book or corner of our own to sit for a while and meditate. There is a museum and a shop from where you can buy spiritual books and photos of the Swamis. The books are rich in devotional text pieces and also rare photographs. You can also attend Puja ceremonies inside the temple. It is a great experience for all. You can visit the room where Swami Vivekananda used to stay. It is excellently maintained and very neat and clean. There are trees all around making the area very airy and peaceful. Remember not to litter the place and carry paper bags to dispose of your food waste etc. in the allocated dustbins. Photography of the temples is not allowed in the premises. You may click photos of the garden and of the river bank.

I recently visited the Hindu Temple Belur Math and was absolutely amazed by its beauty and serenity. The architecture of the temple is simply breathtaking, with intricate carvings and designs that reflect the rich cultural heritage of India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna and houses a stunning idol of the deity, which is adorned with colorful flowers and offerings. The atmosphere inside the temple is calm and peaceful, with devotees offering their prayers and seeking blessings from the divine. What I loved the most about the temple was its location - it is situated on the banks of the river Hooghly, which adds to the charm and beauty of the temple. The river provides a stunning backdrop for the temple and adds to the overall ambiance of the place.Overall, I would highly recommend visiting the Hindu Temple Belur Math to anyone who is interested in experiencing the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of India. It is a must-visit destination for anyone who is interested in exploring the beauty and diversity of this wonderful country

The peaceful Ganges riverbank adds to the tranquility. Daily prayers and meditation sessions offer solace. Visitors can embrace the spiritual aura and learn about Ramakrishna Math's philosophy. The museum honors the lives of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Swami Vivekananda, providing insight into their teachings. A visit to Belur Math is an enlightening and serene experience.

Belur Math is a popular temple with a notable design that exhibits different religions such as Christianity, Hindu, Buddhism, as well as Islam. The different exhibits symbolizes unity in terms of religion. Belur Math serves as the nerve-center of the Ramakrishna movement. The unique feature is that the place looks like a mosque, as well as a temple, and also a church, at the same time. Timing: 8:30AM to 5:30 pm. Best Time to Visit: Afternoon

Very advance in maintaining hygiene and comfort. You can visit Belur with elders as they have accommodated wheelchair, cold drinking water and clean bathrooms..I really felt very relaxed with my grandmother who is almost above 80yrs old and couldn't walk straight without support. She comfortably roamed, ate and enjoyed and seeing this we were very happy. Belur Math authority have thought about these elders and give us the opportunity to bring them here. We can keep their wish to visit Belur in such an old age.

History of Belur Math In January 1897, Swami Vivekananda arrived in Calcutta, Calcutta with his small group of Western disciples. Through this, two monasteries were established, one at Belur, which became the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Mission and the other in the Himalayas of Mayawati, Champawat district in Uttarakhand, Uttarakhand, called the Advaita Ashram. Both these monasteries were built to receive and train the young men who eventually became the saints of the Ram Krishna Mission and to train them in their work. In the same year, philanthropic activity was started and relief from famine was brought. Swami Vigyananda, brother-monk of Swami Vivekananda and one of the disciples of the monastery of Ramakrishna, who was in his pre-monastic life, a civil engineer, designed the temple according to the views of Vivekananda and Swami Sivananda, who were the then presidents. Were. The foundation stone of Belur Math was laid on 16 May 1935. The huge construction was handled by Martin Burn & Company. The mission declared Belur Math as "A Symphony in Architecture". Campus at Belurmath Temples dedicated to Ramakrishna, Sharda Devi, and Swami Vivekananda are included in the premises of Belur Math on the banks of Hooghly, their relics and the main monasteries of the Ramakrishna Order. There is a museum in the complex which contains articles related to the history of Ramakrishna Math and Mission. Many educational institutions associated with the Ramakrishna Mission are located in the huge campus adjacent to Belur Math. Belur Math is considered as a pilgrimage site near Kolkata by major tourist sites and devotees. Former President APJ Abdul Kalam considered Belur Math as "a place of heritage and national importance". Belur math: Sri Ramakrishna temple The design of the temple was designed by Swami Vivekananda and the architect was Swami Vigyanananda, a direct monastic disciple of Ramakrishna. Sri Ramakrishna Temple was accepted on January 14, Makar Sankranti Day 1938. The Ramakrishna Temple at Belur Math is designed to "celebrate the diversity of Indian religions" if viewed from different positions. A temple, a mosque, a church as shown. The architectural style and symbolism of many religions have been incorporated into the temple design at Belur Math, to convey the "universal belief" in which the movement believes. The temple is considered a prime example of the importance of the "physical dimension" of religion. Belur math : Swami Brahmanand's temple Another temple dedicated to Swami Brahmananda- a direct disciple of Ramakrishna and the first president of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, is located near the temple of the Holy Mother. The museum chronicles the movement and contemporary development of Bengalis. The center also celebrates the annual birthdays of Ramakrishna, Vivekananda, Sarada Devi and other monastic disciples. One of the main attractions is the annual celebration of Kumari Puja and Durga Puja. The tradition of Kumari Puja was started in 1901 by Vivekananda.

Belur Math is beautiful tourist place in Kolkata is the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission. Sprawling over forty acres of land on the west bank of the Hooghly River, it is visited by people from all over the world, irrespective of their religious beliefs. The temple is known for its distinctive architecture, which fuses Hindu, Christian and Islamic motifs as a symbol of unity of all religions. Founded by Swami Vivekananda, the chief disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahansa, the temple is at the heart of the Ramakrishna Movement. The temple complex also houses a museum and several other affiliated educational institutions. The evening Aarti takes place 5:30 OR 6:00 PM, at which an evening bell is rung to indicate that visitors are not allowed to loiter on the Math grounds and are also not allowed to visit any temple other than Sri Rama krishna temple. The Aarti songs sung are hymns of praise to Sri Ramakrishna and Sri Sarada Devi. The Aarti here is different from those at other places of worship since one is expected just to sit and meditate. There is no religious offering made. Flowers and sweets are not offered. You can visit this place and enjoy peace and joy

In the late 17th century, the three villages that predated Calcutta were ruled by the Nawab of Bengal under Mughal suzerainty. After the Nawab granted the East India Company a trading licence in 1690,[23] the area was developed by the Company into an increasingly fortified trading post. Nawab Siraj ud-Daulah occupied Calcutta in 1756, and the East India Company retook it the following year. In 1793 the East India company was strong enough to abolish rule, and assumed full sovereignty of the region. Under the company rule and later under the British Raj, Calcutta served as the capital of British-held territories in India until 1911, when its perceived geographical disadvantages, combined with growing nationalism in Bengal, led to a shift of the capital to New Delhi. Calcutta was the centre for the Indian independence movement. Following independence in 1947, Kolkata, which was once the centre of Indian commerce, culture, and politics, suffered many decades of political violence and economic stagnation.[24] A demographically diverse city, the culture of Kolkata features idiosyncrasies that include distinctively close-knit neighbourhoods (paras) and freestyle conversations (adda). Kolkata is home to West Bengal's film industry Tollywood, and cultural institutions, such as the Academy of Fine Arts, the Victoria Memorial, the Asiatic Society, the Indian Museum and the National Library of India. Among scientific institutions, Kolkata hosts the Agri Horticultural Society of India, the Geological Survey of India, the Botanical Survey of India, the Calcutta Mathematical Society, the Indian Science Congress Association, the Zoological Survey of India, the Institution of Engineers, the Anthropological Survey of India and the Indian Public Health Association. Four Nobel laureates and two Nobel Memorial Prize winners are associated with the city.[25] Though home to major cricketing venues and franchises, Kolkata differs from other Indian cities by focusing on association football and other sports.

Points reduce for their strict timing. If you are late even by 30 sec they won't entertain you. I got entrance in 3rd attempt. Plus connectivity from city is not good. There is no metro route. Can take bus and cab. Cab is high cost and will always tell the wrong timings. Talking about the place there are multiple math or temple to visit. Outside each temple no naming convention. You should know in advance about the Guru. Good time to visit either early morning or evening. In corona situation their timings are 8.30-11 am and 3.30 to 5.15 pm. After main gate entrance have to walk about 200m. Overall it's a beautiful place to visit of you plan well ahead. Nearby is Dakishneswar Kali temple for which you can get magic auto from Math(15rs per head) and it will be closed by 1pm and again reopen at 3.30 pm.

Went there for the second despite living so close to Belur math haven't gone there as much as I should have. Do visit it if ya have time not much crowding happens nice museum inside as well only con is you've to leave your shoes on the road inside the complex before entering the museum. Otherwise it's an excellent environment.

  • 5/5 Souvik P. 3 years ago on Google
Very good atmosphere. But the visitors are not allowed to take photographs inside the main ambit. Even they are not allowed to enter that special belur ghat due to recent circumstances. This is actually a very good place. But somehow in the recent circumstances it feels like the original beauty of the place has been restricted. Visit the place with right companions and enjoy.

Birla academy of art and culture and culture has been a brain child of shri BK Birla. This establishment was completed in 1966. His basic intention of promoting the visual and performing arts and preserving the artistic and cultural heritage of India. We find here an excellent museum of ancient and contemporary Indian and international art that includes artistic and historical objects from a period between the 2nd century B.C. to the 21st Century A.D. The Academy also undertakes a number of other activities such as workshops, seminars, lectures and national and international art exhibitions that have a contemporary relevance.

This temple is not only for hindus but also for all religions. As thakur always spoke about the togetherness of all religions. Its really something different from other religious temples. There are big gardens also within the campus . ♥️♥️♥️

Nice one very cleaned, but sitting around is currently prohibited due to the pandemic, but the monks behaviour was very presentable.

Serene and beautiful. But unfortunately we didn't get much time to explore in detail due to covid norms. Presently, they only allow the visitors to explore Belur math by walking in a line under strict supervision of the volunteers. Sitting and even gathering at a place for long time are not allowed. Most of the areas are closed for visitors. The measures taken are absolutely appreciable like they won't allow entry without double vaccination certificate and I was amazed to see the punctuality of the authority.

Awesome environs. Great for the soul, peace and disquiet. It is a institution that heals. This is a place with awesome vibrations. The only qualm is that because of Covid, some areas in the premise are out of bounds. Since photography inthis premise is prohibited, these pics were taken stealthily. I owe my apologies to the math for this transgression.

A place of tranquility. Clean, systematic, doing good work for society, not overly religious. A sharp contrast to the traditional Hindu temples that are rife with chaos and crowds

Very nice place to visit. Soothing natural ambience beside the Ganges. You'll love it most when it is not crowded. ✌️

Swami Vivekanda and his mentor Sri Ramakrishna are God Souls... They preached that all religions are same and to serving people is equivalent to serve God. Due to Covid restriction many rules have changed. But still the peace of mind I find coming here is second to none.

Every time I visit Belurmath I lose myself in its serene atmosphere. But mostly I tried to avoid weekend and afternoon rush. Try to visit on a weekday morning. It is a holy place for all religions.

In the Garbha Mandira (Sanctum Sanctorum) of the Temple, Sri Ramakrishna's marble image is enthroned on a marble lotus platform with Braahmi Hansa engraved on it. His sacred Relics are preserved inside the platform... One Bhandaar (store of sacred articles) is annexed behind the Garbha Mandira bearing above the Shayan Kaksha (recline chamber) of the deity. The kitchen for preparing the bhoga (cooked food for offering), however, is at a separate place behind the Garbha Mandira... The canopy above the deity was made by a carpenter from Salkia (4 kms South of Belur Math) with a special teak wood brought from Burma (Myanmar)... The Garbha Mandira rests on a concrete foundation slab of 27 square metres area and more than 1 metre thick... Thick stone slabs, bricks and concrete have been used in the walls of Garbha Mandira and only claddings have been done with chunar sand stone... Surki (brick dust) was prepared locally and sand was collected from Magra (near Panduah) of Hooghly District... Domes have been made of chunar stone, bricks and cement concrete. Galvanised iron strips have been used to resist tensile hoop stress... The floor of the Garbha Mandira and the Nat Mandira have been laid on with white and black marble stones respectively... The Nat Mandira and the Garbha Mandira are structurally separate. They are attached to each other by an expansion joint which is not easily visible to visitors... All the doors and windows of Garbha Mandira and the Nat Mandira are made up of choicest teak wood imported from Burma (Myanmar). The work was done by Chinese carpenters and the fittings were procured from a Bombay (Mumbai) based company at concessional rates.11. Lamp stands (made of copper) on the temple platform were cast by a local artisan.. The estimated cost of the temple was six lakh rupees (1935), but on completion (1938), the actual cost came to around eight lakh rupees.13. Almost the whole expenditure of construction of the temple was borne by the generous donations from two disciples from USA...

Belur Math is not just a place of worship; it is a sanctuary of peace and harmony. It provides solace to the weary souls seeking refuge from the chaos of everyday life. The teachings of Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda, which form the foundation of Belur Math, encourage self-realization and the pursuit of truth. The atmosphere resonates with their message, inspiring visitors to explore their inner selves and find a sense of purpose and fulfillment.

If you are planning to spend much time here, I will recommend you to start your journey early and reach here as early as possible as the place closes at about 11:40 and remains closed till the evening. The main temple is really beautiful and peaceful. There is a policy of strict silence. The floors are very clean and perfect for meditation. In conclusion, Belur is the perfect place to visit atleast once in a lifetime for everyone. It is perfect to reflect on yourself and your spirituality.
