Good South Indian restaurant with less No of variety. Famous for its Dosa and vada. Not well maintained in terms of hygiene but famous for many years less South Indian option in south Calcutta. You can also try their filter coffee which is full of sugar . Do not drink their glass of water provided. Waiters are there to take tips from you only.

One of the oldest South Indian Cafe in Behala. Visiting this place since my childhood days. The best part is that they have maintained to keep the same taste for years & have not compromised on their food quality & tastes. Though few more South Indian restaurants have built up in Behala still people love to visit this place. Since childhood I've seen if one visit this place after 8/8:30 pm there is a high chance of not getting your desired food 😋 due to their huge sale. The behaviour of the staffs are really warm... Over all a good place for good food 🍛

A legend in Behala. We just love the food from this south Indian restaurant / cafe . My personal favorite is the sada vada abd the butter onion paper dosa. Other recommendations are the veg Pulao and uthappam.

This is perhaps the oldest south indian food joint in behala. I have been eating here since childhood. Though many years have passed but the quality of food they provide is still the same. This joint serves the best dosa. I am also very much fond of their sambar. The unique taste that it has can be found nowhere.

Fairly nondescript yet popular place for South Indian food in Behala. In a city that lacks variety in South Indian food, such places are welcome, notwithstanding the lack of authenticity. The food tastes good but one can make out that this is not the typical fare you will get in Chennai or Bangalore. Service is nice and friendly. Not the sort of place you go to for ambience so we will steer clear of making judgments on that. The Veg Pulao comes highly recommended here.

Being a Bengali, it's difficult to explain the richness of South Indian food. When my tongue had been fond of non-vegan food, I found this place. In simple words, the cafe is one of the finest South Indian Restaurants in Kolkata. Not only the food but also the customer-friendly service, is excellent. Its difficult to find such a cafe in such minimal charges ! The neat & clean atmosphere provides a wonderful experience and invokes to give a 5-star rating.

The food is very good but the only thing is that they uses too much oil. Other than that if you want to fulfill your south indian carving then must visit.

Whoever's living in behala for more than a decade, must know definitely about this age old eatery at the heart of Behala. Serving the best south Indian dishes. The best dosa is the town. They have the softest idlis, the strongest filter coffee, the best dahi vada, the tastiest veg pulao at pocket friendly price.

It's the best place to have South Indian food. The food quality is great and the amount is also good. I tried masala dosa-₹80 It's more than enough for one person and it tastes awesome. Previously, i have also tried dahi vada and sada vada. Which were also awesome. A must visit cafe if you are in this area .

As I live near this place, I've visited this place on multiple occasions and I can vouch for the fact that this place serves good food. However, the only downside is the sitting arrangement which can sometimes get a bit hectic but, other than that, it's a must visit. P.S. Do try their varieties of Dosa and Dahi Vada. Those are yum.

The quality of food has deteriorated considerably. Other than the bland taste of main dish, the chutney that I received had gone bad. You need to be extra vigilant if it's a takeout.

I think, this is the best south Indian restaurant in Kolkata. I love their paper onion masala dosa very much. I frequently go there to eat that but the price is quite high (it's 80/-). Actually I'm confused about giving rating. Food wise, it's got all my stars but they also don't mind to ask for tip everytime. That's why I cut one star from rating... Alas!!!?

This place has its own legacy. To Behala peeps, United cafe is a south-indian food haven. Great prices for great quality. Definitely try out this cafe if you're visiting Behala by any chance. Moreover the staff is excellent, they're sweet and helpful. The cooks are great. The ambience is that of a roadside inexpensive dhaba, but hey the food's great.

Old is Gold a very well known Restraunt in Behala located beside the Asoka Cinema Hall known for serving Dosas ,idlis and other South Indian dishes. The taste is just ideal and authentic. The old themed ambience isn't going to uplift your mood , but yaa tha taste is. The place is small and gets Very Crowded on weekends. A must visit with your friends and family to hit your tongue with the dosas served by one of the oldest Restraunt in the city. Must try - Butter onion masala Dosa Taste - 4/5 Ambience - 3/5 Quantity- Adequate Value for Money- very Pocket friendly

This is one of the cheapest places you can have a generic South Indian meal at. It's not the most hygienic but the food quality and service definitely make up for it. For the price it offers the meals at, it's decent. Honestly, quite nostalgic for the locals I'm sure.

One of the most popular South Indian food joints in Behala. Food is very tasty and pocket friendly. It offers both dine in and take away as well as online delivery. Seating arrangement is a bit clumsy and mostly remains crowded. One of the best options for healthy foods as breakfast, lunch/ brunch, dinner or even quick bites. Offers buttermilk, coffee and soft drinks too.

A place which I have visited ever since I gained my senses. The taste, even to this date, remains the same. It's not a fancy restaurant but just a small place where you can go and get a good south Indian meal for a reasonable price. I have always come back here for their chutney, which tastes different. It's definitely a nostalgic place for me, but you won't be disappointed to be here if you are in Behala and need a quick bite.

  • 4/5 Debasree B. 1 year ago on Google
Best South Indian Restaurant in Behala, also the oldest one running till date. As it is a non ac restaurant, during summer months it's a bit uncomfortable there. Pulao is very delicious .

Have been going to this cafe for the better half of my life. Would recommend anyone who wanna have some good south indian food. The quality of the food is as it was before good, just not giving the last star for the price, it's really not that expensive but yet at the same time it kinda is, like a masala dosa is 80rs. But the taste and the amount will make u feel it's ok to spend that much. Overall a good place.

  • 3/5 Bibhu Prasad A. 1 year ago on Google
They used to make excellent dosas and sambar during my childhood. The dosas are still decent but the sambar tastes like boiled water nowadays. Cost triumphs over quality and taste. Filter coffee is good and prices are quite reasonable. Overall, not a bad place to have South Indian food at Behala

  • 5/5 Adrija M. 1 year ago on Google
It's an amazing spot to get delicious comfort food. I have been going there since childhood and it's safe to say that I've never been disappointed with the quality of their food and service. I have tried many of their dishes but their Dahi Vada is just amazing. Overall New United Cafe is really nice spot to hangout with friends or eat out with family.

During my stay in Behala, Kolkata I had been to this café twice for lunch. Its a South Indian café with some awesome & delicious foods. The place is quite small and a bit congested with sitting arrangement for few number of customers. Service is fast and food is the best. And in my opinion it is the best South Indian Cafe you will find in Behala. I had tried Dahi Vada and Pulao served with chutney, sambar and raita. Dahi Vada has a sweet and chatpata taste here with sev and cashews garnished on it. The pulao has a completely balanced taste and goes well with the side dishes.

I have been having south Indian food here since I was a child. I wont say it's the best in Kolkata but it is the best south Indian restaurant in this entire behala region. Sometimes when the chef changes things don't taste the same but I visited a few days back and the food was really good.

😐 Simply come here for the atmosphere and history. Nothing should be eaten here. Cold coffee was a letdown. It was cold water that had been sweetened with a pinch of coffee.
