Recently visited this place and trust me, it was worth every penny. The ambiance was great. We had Mutton Chello Kebab. The kebabs were very juicy and tender, I couldn't stop drooling! The egg yolk was runny and just perfect. The rice portion had a nice fresh smell and all together it was magical in taste. I can feel the kebabs in my mouth.. so soft and melting.. The portion was satisfactory for a person. Second dish we ordered was Mutton Hamburger steak. The steak was heavenly tasted, soft & juicy inside.. Probably one of the best mutton sizzler i have had till date. Totally amazed with the food.

I had the pleasure of dining at Restaurant Peter Cat recently, and it's undoubtedly the best in its class. This venerable old restaurant has managed to remain relevant and exceptional over the years. The food quality here is top-notch, and it lives up to its well-deserved reputation. The old, dimly lit decor adds a wonderful nostalgic vibe to the dining experience. While I had heard some local friends and family complain about changes, my personal experience was different. I absolutely loved the food, especially the original Chello Kebab, which was a standout dish. However, I did encounter a hiccup with the chicken steak sizzler, which wasn't prepared as well as expected. On a positive note, I appreciated the unique way they serve drinks, adding an interesting twist to the overall experience. The staff at Peter Cat is attentive and adds to the overall satisfaction of the visit. Besides the slight letdown with the sizzler, I had an amazing dining experience at Restaurant Peter Cat. It's a must-visit for those looking to savor classic flavors in an iconic setting.

Recently visited this amazing place. The hot seller- chelo kebab is a must try when you visit this place. It filling and delicious. The meat is not super succulent but goes well with the butter rice . The sizzlers here is a hot seller. The portion is good and the meat is cooked perfectly. The cocktails here are a bit disappointing both in taste and presentation. It looks almost similar. Was highly disappointed with the appearance. The food was good. Would highly recommend everyone to pay a visit.

I was lucky enough to get seated as soon as I arrived on a Saturday night! The ambiance and servers were as usual very good! We didn't think twice before placing our order. We had Mutton Chello Kebab. The kebabs were so juicy and tender, I couldn't stop drooling! the egg yolk was runny, just how I like it! Oh can't wait to go back and try it again!

Nice ambience... But waiters are all seniors but refinement is not there, table manners are not there.... Too crowded... Foods were alright... Quality has detiorated...kebabs were dry and too small in size in contrast to the price...But what is remaining is good... All staffs wear masks.... Drinks costly

We waited for 45 mins to enter the restaurant. No prior reservation allowed. Its first come first serve. The original chelo kebab was phenomenal. We love the mutton shikar kebab. The browniw vanilla ice cream hot chocolate desert was absolutely amazing. It costed us Rs. 1208 They don't charge service charge. Gave one rating less due to wait timing

Nice ambience, good service, heard that it's really packed on weekends and waiting lines are expected. Chelo Kebab and Chicken Steak are the recommended dishes. Taste and quantity are good, rates are a bit on the higher side. Beer is served in a metal mug which I felt was a nice aspect. Overall a worthy visit in Kolkata.

Peter Cat, renowned for its iconic Chelo Kebabs, was one of the first dining spots we visited on arriving in Kolkata, and it also happened to be the first day of the New Year. Despite the anticipated crowd, we braved a 2-hour wait (no reservations, sigh). Yet, our determination paid off. Once seated, the service was swift and courteous. The Chelo Kabab delivered pure comfort and delight, and the Grilled Bhetki fish held its own. Amidst the festive buzz and vintage old school diner vibes, we savored the experience. A definite go-to for those craving simple, soul-satisfying comfort food. Highly recommend!

Ambience: pretty good. The waiters are managers are dressed pretty smartly and add to the old English/Indian decor Food: Pretty good. The kebabs and steaks are good but i swear Hard Rock cafe has better steaks ngl. Service: Fast, as expected from a fine dining experience. Nothing exceptional here. All in all, a decent place to dine. Go for it.

The restaurant has won a number of awards and obviously well deserved. A very very busy place and be ready to wait for a while to get your seat. It has sufficient seating space with a double storeyed setup. We ordered Prawn Golden fry, chelo kebab.. Food was good.. It runs very busy but once on table the service is good and very fast.

Nice cozy ambience. Hit up the joint early so there wasn't much of a wait time, but the line was massive when we left. The food was really tasty. I can't see enough people recommending the Dum ki Rani, which is just perfect. Chelo Kebab was nice. Their mutton biryani was great. The mutton was cooked perfectly and the flavour was something on another level. The fish sizzler was okay. Really tasty and cooked correctly. Cocktails were alright. I cannot recommend their signature dessert item. The service was professional. Their pricing is justified. The good things you will hear about this place are real.

Had a nice dinner at Peter Cat after anticipating it for months. It is one of the most popular restaurants in the city and I totally understand the hype. The food was really unique and the servers were dressed in traditional attire which felt very different. The place is lit very artistically and although it might get a little cramped up with there are too many people but they have a nice system of managing it. Coming to the food, the chelo kebab platter with sufficient for a medium eater like me and the chicken was really yummy and delicious, topped with a dollop of fresh butter. I would not go again in the next few months, but it is really great for a first try.

Located on a prime location in Park Street area, a very old and prestigious food joint to gather with family and friends. They have a variety of food and bar menus. The staff is very welcoming and courteous. They will try to help in every aspect. Coming to the food, in spite of having a wide variety, it's famous for its Chelo Kebab platter. It's a one plate complete meal for one. It contains, butter rice, two types of kebab and salad. Apart from this, a diet lover must try their "cold chicken salad" under appetizer. Coming to the price, to me the price is a bit high and overpriced. But if you want to enjoy the old Calcutta dining with a sober crowd, this place is a must visit.

This is on a busy street near Bandra. Tried their chats which is well known for. Dahi Puri was fairly sweet with a ton of curd but could have been more tangy. Rest assured it's as crowded as the Bandra train station.

I think the best time to visit Peter Cat is during unlock or post lockdown if you don't want to queue up for long as usual. They are taking care of hygiene and maintaining social distancing between two operational tables. They are offering contactless service currently. Must try item is of course The Original Chelo Kabab. It is so drool-worthy. Absolutely delicious. Prices are upscale but the quality of food justifies it. I firmly recommend a visit to this restaurant.

I have been to Peter Cat two times I really love the ambience and the staff. It is usually crowded during holidays around 30 minutes of wait time. The staff is generally really helpful, well I do like the Chello Kabab, the taste is good, the portion can be more but sufficient for one. I didn't like the cocktails there, I ordered Bloody Mary but it was average. During my second time visit the card payments were not working. Other dishes are also good. You will find mix of appetizers and main course. You can try it once.

If you are traveling Kolkata, This is the place you must visit in the city. Peter Cat is old legacy restaurant in the heart of the city. Food served here is one of a kind. Well, I have been here multiple times since my childhood, but now I feel the quality of food has degraded over years. Even after this, the rush for dining into this restaurant is enormous. In peak Lunch/Dinner hours, you have to atleast wait for 40-50mins to get a seat here. Long queue of lines will be there every weekend, so plan your visit accordingly. My favourite cuisine from their menu is 1. Chelo Kebab Platter (That's their Signature dish and best in Kolkata) 2. Any kind of Sizzler platter You have multiple options for soft/hard drinks. Desserts are great as well. All the staffs maintain proper hygiene and have gloves in their hands always. Overall a good experience. Only that, the food I was served in the year 2008 is not same as served in 2022. 4/5 :)

I recently dined at Peter Cat restaurant in Kolkata and unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. The food was served to the table very cold, which was a major letdown cause the butter was not even melting on the rice. The restaurant itself appeared quite old and in need of some renovation. One of the dishes I ordered was the chelo kabab, which was claimed to be Persian, but it lacked the authentic flavors I was expecting. As an Iranian myself let me tell you that it was not the actual Chelo Kabab at all. It was mutton seekh kabab with a cold rice. Moreover, the prices of the dishes were quite high in comparison to the quality of both the food and the service. Overall, it was not the enjoyable dining experience I had hoped for. People giving it 5 stars either never had a good meal or never been to a better price and I cannot care less how iconic the place is as long as they’re not aiming to improve.

Located at 18 A, Stephen Court, Park St, opposite KFC Restaurant, Kolkata, West Bengal 700016, Peter Cat is an immensely popular restaurant, best known for its Iranian style chelo kebabs (barbequed fingers of spiced, minced meat on buttered rice). Other than the chelo kabab, do try out the fried bekti with tartare sauce, tandoori mixed grill, beef carpaccio and of course the place is always sizzling with sizzlers which are always worth trying out. Order for beer, since they serve beer in metallic mugs which take you back to the colonial period.

Peter Cat is a must visit place for foodies. They serve amazing kebabs. The flavor will burst into your mouth and will give you so many flavours of different taste. Unfortunately I couldn't take pics of all the foods which we had, but it was only because we were so indulged in eating the food. Even over weekdays you get waiting time to enter, so you can imagine the scene of weekends.

It's a amazing place in Park Street, also a very old and authentic place for continental dishes. Ambiance also good. Their Chello Kebab is truely amazing and sufficient for 1 person. Sizzler is also their authentic item, they served with fried potatoes and boiled veggies. Except these 2 items steaks items also good.

A fantastic place to chill out with friends or family, the star at this place is the food and excellent service. Truly lived up to all the hype around food. What adds to this place is the location- Park Street, which makes the place even more memorable. If you do not have food here, then your visit to Kolkata is not complete.

On the extremely crowded street, I found a comfortable cafe to rest and dine. Thanks to the difficult entrance, there are so many people here, and the environment is spacious and comfortable. There are tea, coffee and snacks to choose from. The service staff are very friendly and the food is above par. In fact, it is not that important whether the food is delicious or not. I am content to have this space to take a breath

The place was way too crowded; waited for an agonizing 1.5 hours. Finally got in, and they seated us in this super dim area. The chelo kabab was insanely tasty and satisfying in terms of quantity. However, the shrimp cocktail was a major letdown...felt like we'd cry after tasting it. The sauce was overly tomato-y, and the shrimp size was disappointingly small. Thinking of going back, but definitely skipping the shrimp cocktail and opting for something more filling.

This restaurant is Not at all worth the hype in terms of food they serve.. Slightly over priced, quantity was not sufficient. We tried Chicken tikka kebab was kinda okayish but quantity wasn't sufficient enough for even 2 people. Chicken Bharta was not cooked properly, it was very very low on spices and salt. Chicken butter masala was nice, juicy and tender. Ambience of this restaurant was quite nice. Coming to the staff they were super friendly, helpful, cooperative & well behaved. But their service was quite slow. The restaurant was clean, hygienic and well maintained.

Heard a lot of hype about Peter Cat but was disappointed when I actually went there for a meal. The waiting time can be anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes. We had to wait 40 minutes until we got a table. Then we ordered the overhyped chelo kebab, chilli potato and a chicken starter. All three were quite bland and undercooked. There was a weird smell to the food that was really unappetizing too. Service was slow for main course. We had to remind them of what we ordered and decided to get it packed instead because of the delay. Ordered veg biryani and chicken biryani. Both were really bland again.

Good Place. But be aware of water price as they cost 75/- for 1L of Kinley whose actual price is 20/-. And they prefer to take breads with sizzler which almost cost 70/- without letting you know. Otherwise the place is perfect for dinner.

The first and foremost is the food. You won't go at a place with huge ambience but literally not unworthy food. Peter cat no matter how pretentious the place sounds but it is really standing tall on it's food. It's worth every penny of yours. My recommendation please try their chello kebab and screwdriver The ambience just as soothing as it can be. Staffs are super welcoming and helpful. No hygiene issue what so ever. At the time of my visit everyone was following covid protocols. One thing is if you are visiting it on holidays or weekends please keep in mind you will have to wait for minimum½ hour to 2 hour. But the patience won't be in vain.

I came here for the second time, came here after a few years, I really missed the chelo kebab there so suddenly decided to have lunch here. You must come here before 1.15 pm after which you will have to wait in a long queue. Now coming to the food, I ordered the Chicken Chello Kebab, the rice tasted so good and was cooked perfectly, and the kebabs were so yummy but the Seekh Kebab was dry for me.I am non alcoholic so order a chocolate milkshake and strawberry mocktail, taste was really bad. But yes this is the perfect place to try the perfect tasting Chello Kebab in Kolkata ❤️

We went on Christmas Eve for a lunch date. Huge queue were there before us which is kind of obvious cause this is the scene in every restaurant in Park Street during this time. We ordered a soup, lime soda, chicken steak and fried fish. Food quality was finger licking awesome, ambience was too cozy with red dim lights, each sit were separated by a glass would give you privacy. Social distance were maintained properly, hygienic, temperature checked at the gate. Will surely go back again. And next time for the famous Chelo Kebab. Happy Fooding. 🍱

I am very disappointed with this restaurant. We ordered their famous Chello kebab but when served it was so cold that the butter didn't event melt a little over rice. Also the kebabs were hard, we have to chew & chew & chew to swallow it. When we told them about this, they said that's how it was served. The cloth napkins we're also torn in places. Not ever going.

We ordered the one and only famous Chelo Kebab. One portion of the kebab was too much salty, we couldn't eat. Also the portion is a lot less than expected. One plate is not enough for one person. Service was good, though we had to wait a lot.

The most famous and Hyped restaurant in Kolkata and true to its fame for the Chelo Kebab we did try it. The Non Veg was For around 450 and the Vegetarian Chelo Kebab was for 400 with tax. We Started off with Asparagus Soup and to the Chelo Kebabs finishing off with Cream Caramal and Chocolate Mousse. We were super full as the Chelo Kebab is a complete packed meal. The Service was super quick and all staffs polite. The place is always packed and busy. We were the last one to enter the place had to wait around 15-20 mins at the last entry time which is 9.30pm due to Covid Restrictions. Some had to wait over an hour. Overall a wonderful experience. Must recommended place to visit if you're in Kolkata.

One of the famous restaurant of Kolkata, located on the busy Park Street. The menu consists of India and Continental dishes. The restaurant is dimly lit and has seating on the ground floor and mezzanine floor. They serve alcohol inside. This place is usually crowded and one will have to wait outside for a table. MUST TRY - CHELO KEBAB ( MUTTON/ CHICKEN)

I had visited this place multiple times but I must say this time I am totally satisfied this time. Though today is weekday still crowd was there as always ☺️ but management was quite good. Service is also fast compared to past time. No comments regarding food quality I'm always a big fan of Peter cat chelo kebab. We have ordered fish and chips today. This is also very good 😊

Visited Peter Cat restaurant in Kolkata for the first time today to try their much-written-about Chelo Kabab. Thoroughly underwhelming experience as both the mutton and chicken kababs were average (in taste) at best. Worse, some of the chicken pieces were undercooked and pink in the middle. Disappointing experience overall. The saving grace was the customer service, where the restaurant supervisor/manager immediately apologized and offered to replace the entire plate when we showed them the undercooked kabab pieces. We politely declined the offer, and left the restaurant after paying the bill. If you are looking for delicious kababs, look elsewhere. An overrated restaurant, for sure!

Amazing experience, delicious food. The staff is polite, fast, and courteous; they know how to make the customers comfortable and suggest what to order if you are visiting for the first time. The same was true in my case, and they suggested their signature dishes, Chelo Kabab and Sizzler. Chelo Kababs are very delicious, and the presentation is also good. Sizzlers, too, are good. The ambience of the restaurant gives you a relaxed feeling with moderate lighting and dine-in decor. The restaurant is one of the oldest restaurants on Park Street and will take you down memory lane if you have visited the place earlier. Great experience.

The restaurant is too dark for my taste. Doesn't create a good ambience. The food is okay however the quantity of food is very less for each dish. The taste is also not the great as compared to the price of the dishes. Its too pricey only as its in park street. The mojito ordered also just felt like sugar water. Overall just an okay experience.

Peter Cat is a renowned restaurant located on Park Street in Kolkata, India. It has been a fixture in the city's culinary scene for decades. The restaurant is known for its iconic dish, the "Chelo Kebab," which is a delectable combination of skewered meat and buttered rice. The ambiance of Peter Cat is unique, featuring dim lighting and a classic decor that adds to the overall dining experience. It's a popular choice for both locals and visitors seeking a taste of Kolkata's culinary delights.

Been to peter cat today. Ordered 1 Chicken Butter Masala ( Average) 1 Chicken Shahi Korma ( which was not good. The spices the taste nothing was good.) Chicken Reshmi Kebab was good. We had it with Butter Roti. The management was not good. We entered we ordered and the kitchen was about to close. And when we wanted to order dessert they said the kitchen is closed. They should have said it before-hand.

It's a place for the famous "Chelo Kebaab". It is a must try item whenever you're planning to step into Peter Cat or wanna take away from. Ambience is decent, specially for familly dinner. Service is good but not that like the Peter Cat had in 90s. Other kebabs are good (you can try "Irani Kebab" if you're looking for different taste). Soups are quite good. Overall food quality is nice. To keeping in mind the recent trends and tastes of customers there are lots of things which Peter Cat need to develop at, from the menu and items point of view. ?

Absolute disappointment. Firstly, the floor managers of the restaurant are rude.Managers dont have minimum understanding of how to communicate courteously with guests. Secondly, the standard of food is below average. Certainly, wont recommend anyone. It boasts of being a north indian restaurant but irony is it doesnt offer anything spicy. We asked the manger to get us spicy chicken nd it seems the chef simply added chilli powder.Overall pathetic experience.

So first things first..How to reach here !? Basically during lockdown only way which is a bit more safe is ola or uber ..The location is very much decent just beside Flurys and opposite to KFC. Make sure if you are going from North Kolkata, reach as early as possible cause no ola and uber would agree to come to North after its 6pm. I had a very bad experience about this. Try to book a table as it's gonna save your time. You don't have to wait outside the restaurant. The food is pretty descent. The only famous item is chelo kabab., So it's a must try and speaking about hospitality and staff behaviour , then it's not upto the mark. But it's a good place for a date. Try it out guys..

Great ambience, food and super crowded place. Long waiting time and lack of online table reservation is a big demerit to wait outside in a small/narrow road side area. Should become digitised and allow customers to book online seats. Rest food and ambience is good. Service levels can be improved too..

A great place to have the iconic Chelow Kebab platter but somehow I think that the quality has degraded. The kebabs were not really soft and the quantity is just good for one. The shami kebabs included in the platter could have been better. The quality was better 2-3 years back but still, one should just go if he or she is a foodie and has a knack for the iconic dishes of the city. During this lockdown, they are maintaining proper hygeine and sanitization. The tables are sanitized and so are the cutleries. Allover, ambience is nice and the dimmed lights are good for a great overall experience of dining. A good option for a lunch or dinner with family or friends. You should also try their sizzlers.

When I hear the name Peter Cat, the first thing that comes to my mind is, Chelo Kebab. I have tried Chelo Kebab in different restaurants in Kolkata, but Peter Cat serves the best one. They have another dish which is also very tasty, that is Prawn Cocktail. Other items like Sizzler and different kind of kebabs are also very good. The ambience is very good. The staffs are very professional and helpful. When I have visited here, I had to wait in a queue before entering the restaurant. This is a highly recommended restaurant in Kolkata. Visit and try their items. Thank you!

Peter Cat, popular in park street area has been a crowd favorite for many years. Be it weekdays or weekends, you will always find a long queue there. I have been an ardent fan of this place for many years, and their go to item is always Chelo Kebab. The meat is tender and moist. The stir fry makes it drool worthy and the presentation is top notch. Next time, go ahead and experience it, you will surely like it.

Since it was a wifi based card, the guy swiped it twice and I was charged 1,580 twice. I got to know about it only when I checked the statement. I have been asking them to refund the money from a long time and nearly 10 months now but the Manager is not responding. He is not even returning my calls now. Be careful when you pay with your card guys. Especially wifi based cards. Horrible experience though the food was good.

We went on a Monday evening around 8 pm and were seated instantaneously (something not many can say when visiting this restaurant). We observed that social distancing protocols were strictly followed and certain tables kept empty. The staff wore masks and face shields throughout. We ordered the staple Chelo Kebab and some coaktails. The service was quick and we loved the food. Probably the only downside is that I found the dish a bit overloaded with butter (for my liking). If you do not like so much butter, please inform the attendant right away (something we forgot to do). Peter Cat is one of those special places in Kolkata which every food lover must visit and Chelo Kebab is one of these dishes that makes Park Street standout.

Ambience is decent and beautifully maintained. Heavy crowd of people on weekdays also..if i talk about food then I can't rate this place for whole.. we had ordered chelo kebab, chicken sausage in cocktail sauce and Kashmiri ala chicken biryani. Chelo kebab platter was pretty well accept the seekh kebab..it was horribly dry and the crust was very thick and it was over smelled of Corriander which was really not tasting good. Chicken sausage in cocktail sauce was good enough.. still they can look after the pricing as per the quantity anyway the last dish we had ordered for kashmiri chicken biryani, it was too oily there was a distinct pungent smell might be everyone doesn't like that.. although it was well enough for me still I can't recommend other's to have the same as my sister didn't like the taste coz of that pungent smell. Eventually chicken was not cooked properly, meat was bit chewy and feel like it has been only put it in boil and then it has directly added to the biryani. Last but not least staffs were courteous and friendly.overall it was a okay wala experience.

A legendary place at park street with good food and nice ambience. In this covid situation they are taking utmost care in sanitization. They have separated the sitting areas with glass walls for precaution. We had gone their for dinner but we didn't have to wait in a long queue as there was a moderate crowd. We ordered the famous Chello kabab and chicken steak sizzler with sweet lime soda. The dishes were well cooked though the price is a bit higher but the experience is worthy of the price.

Accessibility: Easy accessible by Metro railway and road transport. Parking: Roadside parking only. Ambiance: Great for hanging out with friends and family. A bit crowded due to popularity of the place. Food: Great taste. Sufficient quantity. Price: A bit overpriced.

Once one of the most beloved haunts for our group of friends. This establishment has lost its edge in terms of food quality- the classic flavors not being what they used to be. Decor needs refurbishment and quality of the food needs improvement along with menu requiring to be streamlined.

  • 3/5 Jubran A. 3 years ago on Google
The food is definitely good, but what people don't notice because of the dim lights is that the place is not very clean. If u notice u will even find lots of web and dust on the lamps and walls. Moreover it's quite loud and the waiters literally stand on your head to make sure you tip them. Don't get me wrong, I like the food out there but a restaurant cannot be only about its food.

Have heard a lot about Peter Cat for many years and got to visit this weekend. 1. Ordered the extremely hyped Chello Kebab. It was OK. Nothing special. I have had better kebabs in other places. 2. Ordered Mixed Grill sizzler which had 2 medium pc of chicken and rest were potatoes. The dish was good but quantity could have been a bit more. 3. A friend recommended this place mentioning their special plates and glass but seems that too is no longer available. 4. While there were Dineout offers they straight away declined it. So if you are planning to benefit or use Dineout pay or Zomato pay check before you order. 5. Sanitization and cleanliness is very good. Overall, you can visit but for me it seems whatever I have heard about Peter Cat is more or less overhyped.

This is running on borrowed reputation. Long past it's era. It was an amazing restaurant when you didn't have continental restaurants in India 50 years back, but given the modern landscape of eateries in India, Peter Cat is a fossil. There are some great continental restaurants in Kolkata and Peter Cat doesn't make it into the top 10. Chelo Kebab? Well, very average.

Can't see any cat around the restaurant but mouse goes around the stomach for sure once you enter this place . Named after a cat once used to enter lord's cricket ground during 1950's is one of the city's main attraction since 1960. Mutton ran shredded is to die for . And the basic Chello kebab will remain the main attraction .

Overall : I had heard so much about this restaurant from my parents that the food quality has not changed over the years. Since then, I have visited multiple times and thier food is simply mouth watering specifically the following : a) Chello Kebab b) Tiger Prawn c) Sizzlers The history of the place coupled with their ambience and food gives you a strong reason to visit. However the service was slow, something which takes away the reason to give it a five rating. Pros : 1. Amazing Food 2. Nice Ambience 3. Professional Approach 4. Quick Turn Around Time once you order Cons : 1. Long queues specially during holidays (1-1.5 hrs). You would literally stand outside on the road 2. Service of Waiters have detoriated 3. Need new additions to the Food Menu

Nice food, nice ambience. But according to my friend who visited Peter Cat 4 times, it has reduced the quantity and quality of the food. They sell 1l water at 60 instead of 20. This really does not make sense.

  • 4/5 Soumi C. 2 years ago on Google
The food totally meets up with the expectations that Peter Cat has set for the Kolkata audience over the years. The classic Chello kebab was worth it and the food was overall great. The quality of meat was superb as well as that of the rest of the dishes. The staff service is something that can be worked upon a little more. All in ll, the place is a must visit.

  • 3/5 Kashish V. 2 years ago on Google
Decent ambience, fairly close to Park Street Metro. Covid protocols were followed religiously. Went there for the first time recently, maybe the next time the experience would be better. Their special Mutton Chelo Kebabs weren't anything special. Baaki if you're a regular, you'll eventually find out what suits you. Otherwise, don't eat that. You may have an unlimited meal at Barbeque for the price of that.

  • 4/5 Joyeeta B. 2 years ago on Google
The bottom line is I didn't like the chelo kebab. Now will you continue reading this? Yes. Then i have some suggestions for you. Go for today's special menu first. We tried one mutton huna curry and the taste was simply beyond words. Then the next sizzler fish oho yummy! But the next one chelo kebab in the main course. I didn't like it at all. It was oily. Too much butter based rice kebabs also were dried out same was the sausage c'mon it was waste of money if you don't like oily food much. If you're here first time then just order chelo kebab no starter no dessert side dish only main course and then Write a review on that. For me I enjoyed the starter and sweet lime virgin mohito more than chelo. So yeah. Here are the pictures!

Peter cat is a heritage restaurant situated in Central Kolkata. It is situated at Park Street beside flury's. You can reach in here by availing metro railway, the nearest metro station is Park Street. It is a continental restaurant serving all sorts of continental dishes. Sit and dine is allowed. I tried to enter the restaurant many times when I visit park Street but was not possible as there will be a long queue whenever I visit. The signature dish of Peter Cat is Chelo Kebab. It is a complete dish. It will cost you around 450. I would like to tell that the hype regarding the Chelo kebab makes your expectation higher. You make the dish if you like a buttery taste because the dish is full of butter. The kebabs given were not that soft as expected. The ambiance is just amazing and you will definitely love it. Another dish we took was fish makhmali which was really soft. Even the fish haters will love it. In desert, we had brownie with ice cream and melted chocolate which was great in taste and quantity. The service is fast. One thing which I didn't like is that the restaurant is not taking reservations of tables through Zomato pro or dine-in app . We cant book a table even by calling. Hated the part because of the long queue. The restaurant should take booking through app. It is also a family bar cum restaurant hence one can also drink in here.

We tried chelo kabab and fish(fried beckty) & chips. The chelo kabab was good, two people can eat it if they take extra rice! The fried fish wasn't great, the fish was not super fresh and the bread crumb coating had soaked too kuch oil, so it wasn't a good experience eating it.

First time I visited this place on a special occasion of my sister's aiburobhat. We ordered chelo kebab which was a must one to try and we had one fish starter. In drinks we had strawberry blossom. It was one of the nicest drinks i had in years.

1.5 hours of waiting. Was hoping to have lunch ended up having evening snacks. We all the know how good the food is at Peter Cat but lack of space and management is making things bad for me. By the time you get a table your appetite would already give up. But the food is still A1. Hoping to see a new branch serving Chelo Kebab and sizzlers.

If someone is interested to tast the original taste of "chello kabab" & the hot "sizzler", then this is the only place to visit in Kolkata, rather i should say in India. Highly recommended to all the food lovers👍 Must visit fine dining place in Kolkata... Really loved the way it carry it's tradition.

Went to this weekend. Post COVID 1st experience. As usual took 1.5 hours to get a table. Staffs are well maintained & Sanitise. Place is quite crowded. Ordered Chello Kebab & Chicken Sizzler. Vintage Peter Cat Taste. Parking is available in front of the restaurant.

Chelo Kabab... Do I need to write anything else? As dessert, try the mousse. It's delicious.

  • 3/5 Supriya S. 2 years ago on Google
I had "So So" experience there.. I tried their legendary chelo kebab and understood that people groove with hype. There's nothing extraordinary or lip smacking. I asked for their recommendation for soothing mocktails and they handed me over a glass of tomato juice and said this is the best.I mean really?that was disgusting! Though I loved the chicken kebab and house special sizzler. But the chela kebab was dry, cold and quality isn't up to the mark at all.

I personally love the experience at Peter Cat everytime I visit the place. It's a must visit whenever I'm in Kolkata. I love their signature dish, Chello Kabab. I also ordered shrimp cocktail which is my personal favourite. The place has a rustic vibe which is magnificent. The staff is really polite and the service is quick. They also maintain all the covid protocols.

  • 4/5 Sayan B. 2 years ago on Google
Well it's a popular restaurant no doubt. And somewhat expensive too...but then it's in Park Street. Anyway, food is great...but nothing extraordinary to keep coming back. Yes if you're close by for your work, you can drop in and satisfy your stomach...and taste buds.

This place is great! Atmosphere is great & the staff is also really hospitable. They know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about, and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. Food is pretty good, spl Chello Kebab and for their price it’s 100% worth it.

  • 3/5 Jagdeep 2 years ago on Google
We had tried there very popular dish known as chelo kebab which was very average (over rated infact) fish tikka(very common) lacked flavour and nalli ghost(did not enjoy the favours) very basic mutton curry but bread was little better out of all the food item which was afgani Naan(as explained by the server it had dry fruit which we could rarely see) over all experience 3/5. Very overrated place with nothing special better go to local resturant to explore Kolkata.

  • 4/5 Soumyadipto G. 1 year ago on Google
One of those oldest British and France era restuarants in park street. The menu s are still written in British English. Specialities are Chelo Kebabs, Sizzlers, Prawn Cocktail. In drinks personal favorites are whiskey sour, old fashioned. The service is a bit slow on holidays, also expect a wait time. On weekdays it's fantastic.

  • 4/5 Sneha R. 1 year ago on Google
A very old establishment serving up some wonderful Chalo Kebab for which they're widely known. Celow Kebab, is of Iranian origin, and extremely flavorful as served by Peter Cat. They have done quite some justice to the dish and the spices mixed are out of this world. Hospitality by managers are wholesome and friendly. Quite hygienic, interiors though appear aged. Parking is difficult. Rates have gone up over the years.

  • 5/5 Debdatta B. 1 year ago on Google
Both quality, quantity and price of the food is incompatible. It seems so cheap in respect to the quality and quantity of the food. Nice environment and location. Chicken cold salad is a must try item.

  • 4/5 Aishwarya M. 1 year ago on Google
Time stops still in Park street along with the food there. Peter cat still offers the exact same food. The chelo kabab hasn't changed in forever. The rice is still so soft. The kababs could be much softer, but it is in true Peter Cat style, not too hard also. The grilled fish is good too, but we weren't expecting them to put sauce over it. The mojito is okay.

  • 5/5 Navanita Dutta C. 1 year ago on Google
The chelo kebab is one of the soul food that can surely make a day better. The prawn cocktail is must have for prawn lovers specially in summers. If you are going on weekends after 1pm be ready to wait patiently as they do not have a waiting area. Parking is a pain if you aren't lucky enough, prepare yourself to park a km or more, away and walk or ditch the car. 😀

Peter Cat’s Chelo Kebab is always our favourite. We tasted after 10 years, still it gives old flavour. Tasty food, quick service, crowded but not too long queue to get a table, friendly staff, nice ambience. Recommended to try this dish.

  • 4/5 Savvyy P. 1 year ago on Google
The food was worth the wait of 1 hr. It was too crowded as it was 31st. The chelo kebab holds it's reputation. The tandoori chicken was well cooked and soft. The brownie with ice-cream was lip smacking! Won't recommend the Bloody Mary (imported) as it was sweet.

  • 5/5 Suvangi S. 8 months ago on Google
The ambience is great! The place is a bit crowded but the warm golden lights are very soothing. Its one of the best Chinese restaurant in Park Street. Cuisines are bit costly! But tastes so good. Staffs are also nice. Perfect for spending time with family and friends.

Hands down for the Chelo Kabab (The Original!). Known as the national dish of Iran, Chelo Kabab is perfect for brunch on a weekend. The Chelo served with steamed rice with lumps of butter and half fried eggs on top, along with the Kababs; grilled with different meat and blended with different flavours of Persia. It was absolutely one of the best Persian dishes that I’ve ever tried!

So reputed restaurant. 3 years ago when I last visited Kolkata, I tried but couldn't get a seat. This time, I tried on a weekday evening, and still only 1 seat was available and I was able to get the only seat available. Tried their Original Chelo Kebab Platter along with Cream of Asparagus and Chicken Soup. The food was fabulous, awesome. The service was top notch. Chelo Kebab comes with chicken and mutton kebab with butter rice and egg. All the items were just superb. Will definitely visit again next time I visit Kolkata.

The whole restaurant is well decorated and the service was great and so was the food. Their special mutton biriyani was amazing and the price was reasonable. We cried chicken chelo kebab for the first time. It was amazing. Try fish sizzlers as well.

This place ambiance was awesome, but except that the foods are overpriced as well as overhyped. Quantity was so low that even a child will be hungry after eating. We took their Chicken Marrakesh and Chello kabab, and the test was okay. Hot chocolate brownie with Ice-cream was good. Overall not at all satisfied with the price we paid.

  • 1/5 Sneha B. 4 months ago on Google
Honestly, the food quality has degraded a lot. I don't recommend this place. We ordered Chicken Chelow kabab and Mutton Dum-ki-raan. Both the dishes tasted below average and the meat was not fresh. I had a very bad experience. They should really take care of the food quality.

This place is famous for their Chelo kebab, sizzler.. However, recently the taste of Chelo kebab is quite average.. Other dishes are delicious especially their fish makhmali kebab.. I'll never forget this taste.. Mutton biryani is up to the mark.. The taste of butter naan and chicken reshmi butter masala also too good..The quantity of food is good.. They also serve one of the best desserts.. The ambience is quite satisfactory.. The behavior of the staff is very good.. Overall, had a great experience..

I may not be old because I've hit the 50-year mark, but rather because it now takes me more than 12 minutes to savor my Chelo Kabab, a dish that once disappeared from my plate in a mere 2.5 minutes during my youthful days, alongside the beloved Kalami Kabab. I recently revisited a cherished establishment, one that was etched in my memory for its iconic Prawn Cocktail and these delectable dishes. To my chagrin, the waiter had no knowledge of the elusive Kalami Kabab. Although the Prawn Cocktail seems to have lost some of its enchantment over the years, the Chelo Kabab still manages to rekindle the nostalgia of bygone days. This venerable 48-year-old restaurant continues to serve over a hundred plates of Chelo Kabab daily. Established in 1975 by Mr. Nitin Kothari after completing his hotel management in Salzburg, Austria, Peter Cat has earned the 17th spot on the list of legendary restaurants around the world.

Another legendary place operating since pre independence, still one of the top rated places in Kolkata when checked online so gave it a try. It was weekdays evening and was solo ,no waiting was there and got the table instantly, though good number of tables were occupied. Staff were courteous, service was fast. Ordered there most famous Chelo kabab,it was good served with rice and butter, liked it. May visit again to try few more dishes.

It was my first time visiting this iconic eatery. I was a bit skeptical regarding the food, amongst all the hype. But after trying out first hand, I can confidently say, THE HYPE IS REAL !! We tried Chicken Irani Kebab and Original Chelo Kebab, both were outstanding. Hope to visit again and try some different things.

Food is good, Chelo Kababs-the in-house special was really tasty. Right now there is some renovation work going on because of which the whole place smells of paint so that was the only off putting thing. Rest all good!
