Shiraz has always been my go to place for biryani mostly, this is the revamped outlet just starkly opposite to the older outlet right at the juncture of Mullick Bazar crossing. The place is beautifully decked up perfect for a family dinner and the food I must say is of top notch quality. The Kebabs like Galawati, Tangdi Kebabs and Reshmi Kebabs just melts in your mouth and their Biryani is just the way I prefer, very light and non-greasy that doesn't leave you heavy afterwards. Also give their Mutton stew a try if you love a lighter version of Mutton Kassa. Coming to the dessert, I had one of the best Shahi Tukda hands down! Not very sweet and perfectly made. Their mishti doi prepared in-house is surely a killer!

Since my childhood I used to visit this place along with my parents. So whenever I feel like having biriyani even now I end up visiting Shiraz. The quality and the flavor of their biriyani is different and unique. I simply love it. They serve piping hot biriyani. This time before having biriyani we ordered Shiraz Special Kebabs and chicken reshmi kabab, both of the them were just lip smacking and we could stop eating them. Lastly i had their Firni and i loved it. We enjoyed our lunch to the fullest.

Atleast a dozen of waiters are standing on your head. Unless ask them to serve, they do not even serve water in glass, food in your plate. Does not even give a small bowl of raita complimentry along with veg pulao( it was not at all worth trying), also do not give 2-3 small pieces of onion along with paneer butter masala (not yummy, just ok ok in taste), one has to place orders separately for salad. Tandoori roti was very thick (a big no for this) infact roomali roti was still ok to have it with paneer butter masala. Will never visit again and won't even Recommend anyone for veg dishes as it is famous for non-veg dishes.

In 2016, the restaurant completed 75 years. Shiraz was founded in 1941. In 1972 Shamshuddin Bawarchi joined the restaurant as a cook, and introduced new recipes of preparing biryani. One of the ancestors of Shamsuddin was a cook of Wajid Ali Shah. Definitely try their mutton biryani, murg mussallam and firni.

Overall 4/5 ⭐Mutton boti, Mutton Reshmi kabab:The kababs are extremely soft and light spiced. Well accompanied with green chutney & salad.Must try. Overall 5/5 ⭐Phirni: lastly my favourite desert phirni. The biryani was very dry, and the mutton chaap was also not up to the mark, and also the gravy got solidified within 1-2 minutes, which clearly indicates the quality of oil used was not good, or else it might be dalda. Most importantly the price and the quality don't justify each other, prices are way higher than the quality. Overall, it was not a good experience at all, and it is not expected from such a popular brand

This is my 2nd visit to this iconic Mughlai restaurant in Kolkata. Currently, Shiraz has opened many of its outlets all over Kolkata. Moreover, this restaurant serves a variety of Mughlai dishes at a good price and is well known for it's Biryani that is subtle in flavour yet flavourful in its own way followed by yummilicious kebabs that are extremely flavourful, fresh and immediately melts in your mouth. Side dishes such as butter chicken, chicken rezala, chicken chap blends well with both Biryani, tandoori roti and naan. For dessert, one can try out their phirni and Shahi tukda. Furthermore, the service was also good. In short, I feel that the only shortcoming of this restaurant is the atmosphere that needs to be improved. Overall, i had a memorable dining experience at this iconic restaurant. The food was good, the service normal but we found a metal particle about 2 inches long in the biryani. Having brought to the notice of the staff and the manager, it elicited sorry faces ONLY. Being told about the probable fatal consequences if it were ingested elicited a 'chalta hai' response. So much for the so called Golden Restaurant !! My family and my friend's family will certainly not patronise Shiraz ever hereafter !

Looking at the current situation they are following strict hygiene norms so that you can have a lovely time here. Visited Shiraz's Wellesley outlet few days back and tried the following items: For starters we ordered Chicken Hariyali Kebab, Chicken Reshmi Kebab, Chicken Tangdi Kebab and Mutton Galauti kebab. Hariyali Murgh kababs were juicy, delectable, and spicy! I really liked the flavours of fresh green herbs, tasted heavenly with the mint Chutney. The Chicken Tangdi Kebabs were soft, juicy and tender at the same. The Silky texture and the succulence of the meat took the Chicken Reshmi Kebabs to a whole another level, this one also tasted delicious with the mint chutney. The Galauti Kebabs just melted in mouth and tasted heavenly with the mini Parathas. For Maincourse we tried Chicken Chaap and Shiraz Special Mutton Kassa with their famous Mutton Biryani. The Biryani was full of flavours with a big succulent Piece of Mutton & Aloo, tasted really good with the Mutton Kassa. The Mutton Kassa was totally lip smacking, I just loved the succulent pieces of Mutton and the flavourful thick gravy of this dish. The Chicken Chanp also tased great. We also Tried the Kadhai Chicken and Fish Kofta with Paneer & Peas Pulao. The pulao was loaded with Paneer. The Fish Kofta was avarage in taste but this pulao tasted amazing with the Kadhai Chicken. We ended this amazing gastronomic journey with Shiraz's signature dessert Shahi Tukda, Phirni and Misti Doi. The Phirni was creamy and perfectly aromatic, the Sahi Tukda was also very rich in taste but Im totally impressed with the Misti Doi they served us. If you visit this outlet dont forget to try their Misti doi, this one is highly recommended. Overall I had a great experience. From food to hospitality I loved everything about this place. The staffs were very courteous. Do drop here to experience some delectable Mughlai/Awadhi cuisine at an affordable price. I would love to recommend this outlet to everyone.m

I recently had the the honour of visiting the lavish outlet of Shiraz Golden Restaurant, in Circus Avenue. The place stands bright and glorious right on the pavillion, and is easily noticeable by passer-bys. The interiors are broad and have a welcoming aura. It is ideal for a family dining setup, or any fine dining for that matter. The The ambiance resonates with the cuisine that is to say, it all has an Indian touch to it. That said, we undoubtedly tried some of the bests from the Indian Cuisine including lavish Indian Kebabs like : 🔹Chicken Reshmi Kebab 🔹Chicken Haryali Kebab 🔹Chicken Tangdi Kebab 🔹Muton Galouti Kebab served with Parathas were surely my favourite. The melt-in the mouth dum Kebabs were perfect in and out and served hot with the Paratha made it a wonder to devour. We went on to the Mains including Mutton Biryani, Chicken Kassa as well as the likes of Chicken Chaanp, Pulao and Mutton. The Biryani was light in flavours which made it even better to have. The mutton was Soft and succulent and the potato accompanying the flavours from the rice and the meat was neat. Desserts are a must-have at Shiraz. They make their own Phirni, Shahi Tukda, and Mishti doi and none can be missed. Special emphasis goes to the Mishti doi, as it unlike that of any other place, has a wonderful texture and lovely flavours accompanying it. Me and my friend visited here on a Friday, on reaching the place we were little confused because there was three restaurants of the same name, although one was very small and a holding board indicated that it was only for takeaways,. The other two made was confusing, one was a little bigger while the adjacent one was a little small, both had same name, later on asking one person we came to know that three restaurant have the same establishment, we can go on both of them, it doesn't matter. The interior ambiance is nice, they have AC, although it was not on maybe because of the weather, the waiters were attentive, took our order instantly and servered us in less than five minutes. We took a Mutton special biriyani and one chicken Rezala. The special biriyani is enough for two people's lunch. The Rezala was subtle, I wouldn't recommend it with biriyani, better go with chicken chaap. But it itself was good. Now coming to the negative points. The Biriyani was almost tasteless, it felt like aromatic rice, Little most to no spice, atleast our plate had almost 50 white rice. Also the biriyani was not warm let alone hot, it was in between cold and warm and white quickly got cold while eating. The mutton was the worst part, it was very hard, not juicy at all, very much fibrous, which made some part nonedible. It's very disappointing coming from a reputated restaurant like Shiraj. I'll give the Rezala a 4/5 and the biriyani 2/5. Overall a 3/5 experience.

For Starters we ordered : Chicken Hariyali Kebab Chicken Hariyali Kebab were juicy & full of fresh green herbs..mint chutney also tasted good.. For Maincourse we only tried with their Mutton Briyani.. Mutton Briyani was full of flavours having its big piece of Mutton & aloo..served with Raita... Lastly we ended with their Shahi Tukda...it was very rich in taste & creamy..do visit for Mughlai/Awadhi cuisine...highly recommended

Location of the restaurant is good. The quality of food is delicious. We tested the mutton biriyani. The taste of biriyani was awesome. Though it's not a big drawback, but comparatively the mutton was less soft. The behaviour and hospitality of the attendant was good enough.Without any doubt I will go there again. Went with great expectations to taste their very well known Biriyani but finally came with a great disappointment. The mutton biriyani was overpriced and consists only one piece of small size mutton. The potato had no flavor,just boiled,fried and put into it. Rice was dry and hard,less spicy. We were said that in mutton biriyani, there will be no egg. So, we tried a Chicken Biriyani also, but then we were again refused of getting any egg as they declared all eggs were finished!!!! Is it a professional behavior for such 'famous' Restaurant!

Very good kolkata biryani. Mutton piece was succulent and tender. Ordered mutton pasinda as well. Tasted good. But mutton pieces were a bit chewy. Boti kebab (mutton) was very well cooked and tender, bit of a smoky charcoal flavour in it. Firni was good also. On vegetarian option tried the paneer gravy item which tasted good.

Have been there to have biriyani on request of my better half. However I didn't find anything extraordinary regarding food or taste. It was nothing sort of great as described by her. Need improvement in terms of food quality and taste.

A restaurant is very basic in terms of sitting and ambience with conventional Indian Food Hotel arrangement with some enhancement offcourse. However, the food is bang for your buck. And most importantly, services are super fast plus very responsive. With a variety of North Indian dishes on offer, it can be your go to place when you are around Park Street area and don't wanna dig a hole in your pocket.

Yeah so, a big no go for biryani. And the firni wasn't great either. Too crowded and staff does not pay attention to customers most of the time. Would happily avoid it for all my life. Two star because there's good provision of washing hands and they provide finger bowls. And yeah for a biryani that is not even average they surely charge a lot. Would not recommend to anyone.

Shiraz is well known for its authenticity and flavours. But these days biryani has no taste at all, simple rice mixed with spices-chicken-potato. I was disheartened by the biryani. The standard has fallen out like anything.

Waste of money, everything is overpriced, i ordered mutton biryani, chicken biryani, mutton chap, chicken chap, chicken tandoori, firni, Shahi tukda and tandoori roti. We ordered Mutton biriyani and Chicken rezala. No doubt in Mutton biriyani. It's really tasty and portion wise also good. Rezala has a sour taste, not recommended at all. There are some small bugs and insects in the dining area which are not at all acceptable.

I am a Biriyani Lover. I was suggested by my friend to go there and experience this. I won't lie. It was amazing!!! I mean, the Biriyani was so good. I completely fell in love with it! We ordered Shiraz Special Kebab, Chicken Biriyani, Mutton Pasinda, and Firni. It was a lot for two people. I woukd recommend this place highly to those people who love to eat biriyani.. Its a tough competition for Arsalan and Aminia.

You can't go wrong with a meal at Shiraz. Whether it's their Biryani or Chaap or their kebabs, you're always assured of premium quality. But my favourite item there is the boneless Mutton Pasinda Kebab, which is not really a Kebab but more of a gravy item that you can polish off with roti, naan or paratha. Shiraz also makes a fabulous Haleem during the Ramazan month.

Shiraz used to be my favorite restaurant since childhood. But since last year I've seen the quality going down which is really disappointing. What Shiraz can improve is: 1) Consistent quality: One time the biriyani was totally bland , the alu was not undercooked. However next time the biriyani Rice was extremely flavorful but the meat was stale and sour but the alu remains undercooked. 2) Meat quality: Mutton pieces are too small especially when you take parcel with low portion of meat,mostly fats and bones. 3) Too much use of dalda. This makes Biriyani and curries too dry with time. 4) Hygiene. Most important during pandemic. Staffs are not wearing masks, gloves or using sanitizers. This is unexpected from a reputed restaurant like Shiraz. Shiraz management if you are reading this then please bring back the quality which we used to have before.

Old restaurant famous for mughlai dishes. Tried mutton biriyani & tikka kabab. The second one is taste wise heavenly. Pure gem. Siraz has own signature in biriyani. Little bit on the dryer side but unique in taste. Ambience is not so good, ok type. Service is so so. Price wise too much & quantity wise too low. What we received is a small piece of mutton in which bone is occupied the maximum portion in both plate. One time try is ok. Overall moderate experience.

Nice place for authentic mughlai khana. We had mutton biriyani, reshmi kabab, sikh kabab and laccha paratha. All are well garnished & teast good.

There is nothing much to say anything about the food quality as all know the name is enough to explain. I have been there a few days back which is near park circus seven point. Food, ambience and most of all, the hospitality and care you received there is unmatched. Great place to hang out with family or friends.

I think my experience was good. However, I did expect a lot. It’s a very famous restaurant although the size of mutton was according to me a bit small as compared to many eateries. Also, one of the Morton piece was not that soft. The FIRNI I must say was the best🫣💖.

A sudden plan made to fullfill the craving for biriyani. I was not disappointed by the taste or the portion severed BUT I must say it was expensive. 1 aalu biriyani and 1 chicken chaap cost me 470 rupees.

Mughal delicacies at their best. Usage of minimum spices can actually turn the food into magic. Kebabs are the best even at the last hour of service, it tastes like fresh.

Their Biryani used to be very good, but recently, the size of the chicken has drastically reduced. The AC hall in the 1st floor has really low ceiling and one has to bow a little to walk without having his head bumped into the beams. Taste of the food is still good though.

We had chicken biryani, butter and plain naan, lachha Paratha, chicken tikka kabab, chicken bharta and chicken kadai.. Chicken bharta was good but I've had better bharta at other places. Chicken kadai was not very tasty. Other items were good. Chicken tikka kabab was super tasty, definitely one of the best that I've ever had. Service was good and the ambiance was also very nice.

The staff is hospital and wonderful atmosphere inside the restaurant. Beautiful decorations and full AC. I had double payment made by mistake but they returned the amount after four days after reporting the incident on same day. That's what I liked the most, they kept their words and I'm grateful for it. I will visit here again just for the delicious chicken biryani which is light, mouth watering and one of the best in Kolkata

Their kababs, resala and side dishes are always on point but recently we went and the mutton biriyani was too oily and full of dalda maybe, had very bad stomach pain the next day. Firni is also good. Otherwise service is good and price is also reasonable.

Certainly one of the best Biryani restaurants of Kolkata, a heritage establishment in terms of the number of years it has been serving the dish, the special biryani has a very good quantity with two pieces of mutton, 2 pieces of Aalu and one egg(make it two!!) good enough for a hardcore biryani lover like me, while it has the potential to suffice for 2 people too!
