Don't give any dog to Chhaya. They lied to me that doctor will see my dog..but there is no doctor at all. The staffs are rude. My dog lost lots of his weight in only 3 days. It is like prison for dogs...! They never told me properly what treatment they are doing, they did not try to feed my dog. He was very miserable dirty with urine and potty, they even did not clean my baby..I took back my dog in much worse condition. A request to all animal lovers, don't trust Chhaya.

A stray was sent from my area on 3rd July. On 5th when we called to know about his health, they said they didn’t start any treatment yet. I called back on 6th to know and they were extremely impolite to me and didn’t give out any information. On 7th morning when i called them, they said the dog has passed away. A healthy active dog of 2 years *died* due to negligence. They are nothing but very fraud people. I wish what they do to these poor animals to come back to them. They deserve every bad thing in the world.

I lost my pet, but you don't. My 5 months old dog had a car accident & can't move back legs probably due to spinal injury. They took it but without any x-ray the vet so expert concluded it is paralyzed fully and treating accordingly. After couple of day when I asked exact location, so that I can visit to look at it, after two days informed dog has expired. Although they told vet attendattended, highly believe no vet was present, they lied. They kept poor dog untreated and then killed somehow. I believe those illierate attended treated the dog. And didn't give adequate food also. Totally fake. Plz don't send your pet or recommend anyone here.

I called them on Sunday evening to rescue a poor stray mother, who was suffering badly from labor pain..continuously trying but unable to push her babies out. They said that they were closed their services for that day, and asked me to call again on next day morning at 8:30 am. Next day when I called , they just gave me a number of their ambulance and only asked to call in that number at 9:30am and hung up the call immediately without giving me the chance to ask what step they were going to take, or if someone can come and help the poor dog in our place to help her delivering her babies. I called the ambulance many times, but every time the number was coming busy. Didn't receive any call back . In the evening again I tried and this time someone picked the call. They said that i should have to call them before 11:30am., because they couldn't come in the evening and the next day also, because their ambulance would cover north Kolkata on next day. They could come on Thursday and not before that day. Our location is Bansdroni, Brahamapur which is not far from Garia. If they wish, they could at least send someone who can give the poor mother the basic treatment like saline /drips, or any medicine to ease her suffering. But nobody responded professionally. Although I managed to arrange someone who came that night, started giving her drips, but the poor baby gave up and succumbed to death. I got the number of "Chaya" from a friend, so tried their pathetic service. Very disheartening experience.

Wonderful experience visiting the home of over 500 dogs and various other animals like cows, horses, birds, bulls. It is heartbreaking to see people abandon such huge dogs that are expensive to buy as babies. I have not seen a more passionate bunch of people headed by Ma'am Sharda Radhakrishnan. It is the service to these animals that makes it evident that gems do exist among us humans. Humans can be so heartless in harming these animals by not only kicking them but even throwing acid on them. Kudos to the team at Chhaya.

This organisation should be closed permanently. Worst experience. Sent 5 healthy street dogs for sterilization in September and out of 5, 2 died till now and rest all are fighting for their life against distemper. It was my mistake take a chance there ever after reading reviews. The south Indian lady is just earning money from these poor souls. She gives veg food to them, when they need proper food after surgery. It would request every individuals who cares for dogs, to stop sending anyone there for any treatment. Boycott Chaya......

Send your baby at your own risk. Beware! This happened in 2021 January to March. I had a dog who was unlucky to have her front foot dislocated. She needed to have a simple plastering work done. I had tried my local animal hospital but they had no staff that could do it. I found Chhaya searching the web. Long story short; She was in Chhaya for almost 2 months. In that time her foot wasn't plastered, at all. I brought her back home skinny and malnourished. In the time I visited her once, but only because the staff here refuses to give updates over the phone. By the end her foot was still dislocated but I was just glad to have her back home. This place has some questionable policies. How come I couldn't ask about her health over the phone ? Why did I have to carry my baby back home ? Overall an unpleasant experience. I cannot explain how much I worried about my baby as she was in this literal prison for months!

Actually they don't deserve a star even..I rated it just to write my experience..now there was a stray dog Polo which was picked up from chetla petrol pump for the treatment of a fractured limb on 18th April,18. Since then it has been nearly a month and they have refrained from any proper information about her drop off. On enquiring about her health weekly they kept telling she is recovering..she is fine..we ll be delivering her shortly..this was informed even till last week that she is fine and will be delivered within 7 10days. Now today on calling them up again..I'm being told she is dead after suffering from gangrene. I still don't have any clue how she developed gangrene within a week, how she died overnight. N now on asking them about this they are avoiding my calls and giving me different times to call. I guess nothing worse could have happened to someone whom you literally see as your pet . Apart from this chaya is very reluctant, very impunctual regarding picking up n delivering of strays for normal sterilization. So this is my personal thoughts about this place. N for me I would never recommend this place to anyone .

I called the lady to give up my Dog as I thought it is a animal loving shelter but clearly its not the case. She asked for money and talked very rudely! If you are demanding money then why call it animal shelter? Plus she also demands you to go and meet her face to face and not on call. Lady, your shelter is outside Kolkata in rural area. Why would anyone go 50 kms just to discuss money? Don't give any animal there, people! She seems very insensitive, arrogant and greedy lady. Read other reviews if you don't believe.

Just to raise an alert. I had sent my two babies ( female Indies) to Chhaya on November 2022 for spaying. They were perfectly healthy babies and agile . After coming back from there they were perfectly alright. After 7-10days one of them started showing symptoms of Distemper. We had started treatment and still she is fighting and the other one has started showing the symptoms too . I had gone through the reviews in Google and saw that 1 month before November someone had posted the same case about chaya . If I had checked the reviews before sending them there then my babies could be saved . Don't know when they will be fully fit. Now they are taking 1k per baby for spaying and this is the situation there. Please don't send ur babies there now as the place is infected by this virus and their sanitization process is zero for sure. It was not expected from Chaya at all.

I visited Chhaya hospital in 2018. It was heart wrenching to see so many animals( majority dogs) who were abused, tortured by humans. But I was so happy that they were all rescued by Sharda and her team of dedicated workers. I was extremely impressed by the excellent care provided to these animals. The shetler premises were extremely clean and was amazed that the food for these animals was cooked daily & they had fresh water in their bowls. My friend who took me to visit this shelter has visited many times and she confirms my impression of this shelter. I hope and pray that the divine power from above gives relentless strength to Sharda and finances to continue the selfless and unconditional work to help these innocent souls.

  • 5/5 Tanmoy S. 5 years ago on Google
They are very humble, polite and helpful. They try there best to save an animal's life. It is very appreciable for mankind.

  • 1/5 Anoushka G. 4 years ago on Google
I assumed that the NGO would be really supportive and efficient after the reviews I read online. However, I am quite disappointed with their conduct. They ask you to handle the animal directly as they do not have the required equipment to capture and carry the animal. It is really inconvenient as none of us are professionals and it is not always possible to get in direct contact with an animal that is infected with a disease that you have no idea about. Moreover, it would be of great help if the people dealing with the callers would be more polite. It was such an unpleasant experience for me to talk to someone who was more interested in my ability to touch the dog rather than treating her. At the end, the one to still suffer is the diseased dog. Really dejected with their service.

Very poor pick up facilities. Pick personnel are very unpolite and rough in their behaviour. Action should be taken against them as they are tarnishing the goodwill of your organisation.

Front desk lady was too rude. No one is ready to give answer in a proper way even if a dog get died. Ashamed of there behaviour and the way they treat a dog or the dog owner. Try once and understand the service quality. If you love your pet dont go there with the hope of treatment. I'm not gonna suggest that place ever to anyone.

My sick pet dog died here. Moreover the behaviour of the staffs is extremely impolite. If you want your pets to be safe, never admit here. Trust me, you will layer regret it. It's my worst year, 2018 seeing my dog died there helplessly. It's not a NGO, they are criminals.

  • 1/5 Sarani G. 5 years ago on Google
WORST EVER ngo. I didn't want to give this one star also to this ngo. DO NOT SEND ANY DOG IF NOT U WANT THE DOG TO DIE. Absolutely disgusting place. These people are incapable of doing any damn thing, rather they kill an almost perfectly fine dog and give 100 stupid excuses for that. They genuinely dont care for anything. This ngo should be shut down immediately. Just some incapable and lazy people. Also the Director is also a bogus lady. Such a shame on this ngo n the stupid director. All uneducated and good for nothing ppl. DISGUSTING. SHAME ON YOU CHAYA.

  • 5/5 Ankita D. 5 years ago on Google
My experience with chaaya has been excellent. Many of the dogs from our locality have been treated and sent back home safely by them. But the only problem is they don't pick up the dogs themselves and sometimes it's difficult for us to catch the dogs and put them in the van. Otherwise it's probably the best...
