Choosing Govinda’s to cater our wedding was the best decision I made. They drove 4 long hours to San Antonio, TX to deliver food for 60 people. The driver was so kind and helpful. He didn’t appear to be one bit of tired. The food was the best part of the wedding. There was plenty of food for second and thirds. The samosas were a big hit! Everything came out so wonderful. I highly recommend them for any occasion. Job well done!

I can’t describe Exactly How Amazing this restaurant is!!! WOW aside from great healthy food, it looks like a temple. And I love the food. It’s very affordable too! I would probably describe it as my most favorite restaurant in Houston!

This restaurant is cheating! Don't go! Today, when I ask for the bill, the waiter was ready to charge us two adults and three children. Me: How much for the children? Waiter: Seven dollars per kids. Me: How old will be charge? Waiter: 3-11 years old. Me: My two little boys are under three.(They are two and half now) Waiter: $7 except for the baby . Me: I thought you said 3-11? Why do my boys need to chaeged? Waiter: Well, there's $7 for ages 0-11. Me: I don't know what to say. (Then my husband told me to pay for it, never come again.) Then my children usually like themselves to insert the credit card, I hold their hands to insert the card, the waiter thinks they are too slow, directly grab the credit card and swipe it... Then the two-year-old cried, and the receipt was not ready to give me, so I asked for it then he typed again. Don't come if you don't want to get ripped off!

One of the best Indian vegetarian buffet I ever had. Great list of items for lunch along with plenty salad options. Desserts were real yumm. Tastes awesome as cooked by temple. I really recommend this to you all. Parking is not on the premises, it’s next to the restaurant.

I love this place! We came for all vegan buffet night (Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays) and the options available were absolutely delicious. Everything was fresh and the staff was incredibly friendly. The prices are affordable as well. I love that's it's also connected to the ISKCON of Houston so there's a beautiful temple nearby. We will definitely be coming back for the vegan buffet!

The food was delicious! I prefer a little more spice personally but that can always be added. The special sauces available added the spice I needed. The people were so lovely and friendly. The service and smiles were awesome. Everything was authentically delightful, enjoyable and pleasing. I was told that the buffet menu changes everyday. I look forward to coming again soon! Excellent!

We were looking for something light and vegetarian not far from the airport and we lucked into this place. The restaurant is in the ISKON temple complex with. parking right across the street from the temple complex (so you can get 'Darshan' too before you eat). There was a vegetarian buffet at lunchtime (on the day we came it was vegan day), and every item on the buffet was light, flavorful, and delicious. No onion or garlic as per norms, but that did not hamper the taste at all. Excellent food. The ambiance and decor was very inviting and colorful. Overall a very fulfilling experience.

Exceptional healthy vegetarian food. One serving is great for lunch. Two servings will swell you up like a balloon. While everything was good, I enjoyed the basil dressing for the salad and the ginger lemonade the most.

Hidden Gem on 34th. Best Indian food in the area. Authentic, clean and the service is nice. It’s a plus that you get to walk through the beautiful garden of this Hindi temple to get in. Everything here is vegetarian and every dish is delicious! They also offer dessert. Can’t recommend this place enough!

This place was great! First time here and it did not disappoint. Authentic vegetarian Indian food in a buffet style. $12.95/person for any weekday dine-in meal. We also got a Mango Lassi and Hibiscus Tea, both of which were great. Also, I got a nice surprise from Yelp when I checked in that offered me 10% off. I was being ditzy *facepalm* and forgot to use it but still worth every penny! If you're new to Indian cuisine, don't be scared to go in. I personally love Tamarind Chutney with Papadam so I get excited when I see it. The Basmati Rice and Lentils scooped into some Chapati (think flour tortilla) is also always a favorite of mine too. The decor was beautiful and simple with lots of murals, the staff were extremely respectful and attentive, and there was lovely wind instrument music playing. Definitely will add Govinda's on my list of Houston favorites!

We enjoy the days that Govinda's has their 100% vegan buffet. Every Wednesday and Sunday, but many holidays are included as well. We just had an amazing Christmas lunch. We've been her for New Year's, Easter, Mother's Day, many occasions and the do not disappoint. Today we enjoyed the most amazing vegan roast with mashed potatoes smoking with some Indian flavors. We are ready to go back for New Years Day!

The food was amazing. I came on a vegan Wednesday and the taste of the food transcended my expectations. The food was organic so you could not taste any pesticides or anything like that. The service was extreme friendly. The gentleman was there to answer any questions regarding the food. The establishment was extremely clean and the atmosphere was also a good one. I will definitely come back to this place.

Went at about 8:30 on a Wednesday night and it was awesome. The service was amazing, the foods varied and beautiful looking, got a little bit of everything plus a salad for $12 plus tip so very affordable (I got my food to go) and when I sat down and tried everything? When I tell you the flavors are GOOD! I'm typing and eating because I don't want to stop stuffing my face! Best vegan meal I've had so far!

I've come to Govinda many times and honesty it has always been a positive experience. The atmosphere is calm, the place is clean and artwork is wonderful, the food is delicious even though sometimes it is a bit spicy for me and the workers are super nice and attentive. I'm also glad that I do not have to worry about finding parking as they have a dedicated parking area right next to the restaurant.

When it comes to food, what matters is how healthy it is. Gobinda's food is healthy, tasty and full of flavor. It is a vegetarian restaurant and offers buffet dine-in as well as takeaway options. They have a Vegan buffet on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The rest of the weekdays they offer vegetarian food

This is definitely a hidden gem of Houston! The food here is amazing and provides a unique experience not found anywhere else. I’ve never been to a vegan buffet before but it was so good. I would eat here regularly if I lived closer. Everything was delicious and the mango lassi was my absolute favorite. It has been so long since I had one. Great vegetarian and vegan options. I didn’t miss not having meat. I really want the tahini salad dressing recipe. I need a bottle in fridge everyday. There is plenty of seating available. The architecture is nice and the grounds are kept up well. A pleasant trip for all.

Visited the restaurant on my recent trip (October, 2023)to Houston. There are enough seating capacity and the interior will definitely take you by surprise, which is of superior cader and well thought of. The food was delicious, and the expensive was quite blissful with chants playing in the background. Highly recommend this place for a low calorie vegetarian buffet! They have Gluten free options Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. Do try out their indigenous Ginger Lemonade!!! The restaurant is connected to ISKCON Temple and Cultural center of Houston, so if you are visiting the temple during evening hours you can get the blessings of Shree Prabhu Ji as well.

I was looking for vegan restaurants that don't cook garlic or onions in the food. Govinda's was the excellent choice. We went there on Saturday for a buffet. The food were delicious and very healthy. The food were very fresh, and so was the service. The price was low. I would recommend anyone to come and try it yourself. You won't be disappointed!

Next to a temple, open for lunch and dinner, this is the most delicious vegetarian buffet restaurant in Houston. Plenty of dishes to choose from, all freshly made from scratch. Warm naan, tasty dessert choices. Great friendly service, twice a week is vegan and it is never crowded. Plenty of parking on site.

We arrived early for vegan dinner on a Wednesday, and there was no line. The food was fresh and delicious. Sundays and Wednesdays are vegan. ☺ The restaurant was clean and has updated decor. Plenty of free parking across the street.

Good vegetarian food, especially for people with Onion and Garlic dietary restrictions. The staff here can be a little more cheerful to get the 5th star. Menu selection for the day was decent for our dinner buffet. Wednesday is Vegan day so no Dairy products on that day. Overall a pleasant experience for us and our party of 22. Don't miss out clicking pictures here with beautifully painted walls as a backdrop.

I thought Govinda's was delicious, fresh, heartwarming, cozy and healthy. There are many options as it is a buffet. All dishes are described and you can see if it is vegan or not. It was quiet when I went and a nice day, the grounds make for a very comfortable lunch spot. I would recommend to vegetarians and vegans who like Indian cuisine.

  • 2/5 Fabio C. 4 years ago on Google
Vegetarian with a non-vegetarian surprise (a littlebug came crawling out of my food). Atmosphere is super. Buffet choice is okay. They don't cook with garlic and onion, so food tastes a little "meh". I would like to come back... but no bugs please

Wednesday and Sunday are vegan—and a carnivore would never know! We were greeted with a warm smile (behind a mask) and a squirt of hand sanitizer. We immediately made our way to the buffet—where they serve you (since COVID). Everything was very sanitary and felt safe. The chickpeas had too much of a kick to me, while my partner said the tofu had a kick for him. Everything was so delicious and if we had any room, we would’ve gone back for seconds. We normally can hit a buffet three or four times. The carrot cake was amazing. If this is vegan—sign me up! Pro tip—parking is in the other side of Golf Street. If we lived closer, we would get to-go, as there was a constant stream of customers. The temple grounds are temporarily closed due to Coronavirus.

  • 5/5 Jay K. 3 years ago on Google
Simply the most amazing quality and service for Indian food you can get in Houston. Located in a quaint Hindu / Hare Krishna temple plaza, this place dazzles. The mouthwatering food is alway freshly cooked. My go-tos are the saag paner and mixed vegetables. They also always serve the roti or chapathi fresh. The service is unparalleled. I’ve ordered takeout (due to Covid-19) a few times and my other is perfect all the time. They are very attentive and polite on the phone and do curbside pick up. As a frequent Indian eater, this place tops my list. Try it out. You won’t regret it.

We absolutely love this place and it truly warms our hearts every time we go. The staff, atmosphere, and general comfort of the place is wonderful. Beautiful garden. They’ve done a great job with co-vid as well. My husband, son, and I are all vegan and we often come on Sundays/holidays. Have never once been let down on their revolving menu. You know you’re eating at the right place when the health facts of food are posted on the wall. They’re doing such a great thing and I’m happy to support them! :)

I showed up today for lunch on their patio as I have done several times since they re-opened - after Abbott gave Texas restaurants the go ahead. I was greeted at the door by a man with a large spray bottle of disinfectant in his hand who tried to spray me! I told him to BACK OFF that no one is getting sprayed today. He showed me a plastic covered paper that he said City of Houston left there which commanded him to spray customers at the door, then force them to wear a mask to walk to a table. He said we could take off mask in order to eat. My husband and I turned around and left. We will not go there again. The poor guy didn't have a single customer. Went to a restaurant 2 blocks away, no masks, no spray, no assault - just sit and eat . . . our kind of restaurant.

So good, and a great price!! The lunch buffet is about $10.95 for adults and the dinner price is $12.95. Here’s some info since I didn’t see it in other reviews: - The parking lot is right across the street from the restaurant entrance. - You go in and seat yourself, then it is a buffet. You pay on your way out. - The food options are clearly labeled gluten and dairy free! As someone with Celiac, I very much appreciate this. - It is run by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON)/Hare Krishnas.

This is within the ISKON temple premises. and serve a buffet lunch. The food is appropriately vegan. They did not serve any dairy products and I do not think they use any ghee (clarified butter) either in any of their cooking. They do serve chai. I am not sure if it is served with milk. Also, i don't think I tasted any onion, garlic either in their cooking. This is truly Saatvik Ahaara. Liked their curries and desserts like Rose Strawberry Chia pudding and chocolate flavoured halwa. Unlike a lot of other Indian food , this is light on oil and spices. A unique experience.

I have to say, I am not vegan, or even vegetarian so having Thanksgiving dinner here was not high on my bucket list yet it was such a wonderful experience I wouldn't have missed it for the world. The restaurant is located inside the Hara Krishna temple facility which I watched being built for what seemed like two decades. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, and the landscaping is gorgeous, you almost feel instantly at peace with mother earth, and nature, upon entering the gates and the feelings of peace and serenity are abundant. The restaurant was cafeteria style with the kitchen in open view right behind the serving line and I must say grandma only wished her kitchen was that clean on Thanksgiving day. The mustard vinaigrette salad dressing was unexpectedly amazing, and how it is they made that vegan cream gravy so incredibly good is mind boggling. I pride myself on making great gravy from scratch and this one put mine to shame, it left me speechless as to how they could achieve such a delicious white cream gravy with no meat or dairy product in it!?!? They had table service for the typically self serve drink station yet due to the pandemic they had ample staff, all of whom were in mask and clean gloves, and very friendly. They do not offer sodas, which was a refreshing idea in itself. They do however make a homemade ginger mint lemonade which will make you want to "kiss the chef" who came up with this incredibly simple, yet perfected, and mastered recipe. It was by far the best lemonade I have ever had. The entire experience was delightful and I look forward to returning there on a more regular basis in the future so if you're looking for a new experience I highly recommend Govindas!

The hamburger was served cold. I was told it was a buffet but later I was told that certain food was an extra $5 charge. I wasn’t offered a beverage and other customers were offered a beverage and the waiter never came to my table but told me to stay at my table. A little odd?

Stopped here for lunch one day. Everything here is vegan. Not my normal choice, but was looking for something different. Everything is served cafeteria style. The guy ask if you want everything I went with that. Not sure of the names, everything was good except the bbq. Was not a fan. The sauce reminded me of middle school cafeteria McRib rip-off flavor. Everything else was delicious. Had a salad with beets and tahini sauce. That was new for me and I liked it. Was disappointed because the website menu said they had tikka masala, but wasn’t an option. Guess I came on an off day.

Amazing food made with fresh ingredients and great recipes. Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday they serve only vegan dishes (so good! I'm not vegan but the dishes are great). The place is beautiful as well, very picturesque with a lovely open green space infront. It is a buffet, so you can try a little of everything if you wish. You can also take buffet to-go and order on their website. Support this beautiful local restaurant. They cook the food with their own ingredients from their garden. Wonderful community.

The food may be vegan, but I really can't excuse the service! This was an insult! Yesterday, I bought 2 $25 certificates and took my wife to dinner at Govinda's. The server accused me of not paying when I showed him the validation. He clicked the validate button THEN called the phone number after speaking with his manager (who showed him the printed validation instructions stored in his register!). I was made to listen to an "already validated today" recording, and they refused to give us the rest of the food which would make the value at $25. Instead, he started writing personal information of mine asking for name and phone number. In regards to the reply I called and they said a manager would call me back, which did not happen!

Vegetarian food and the setting at this spot is excellent. The food was tasty. Certainly worth going back to. Similar to a place in Denver I liked.

One of our favorite go to places for a quick lunch. Variety could be improved, but the current menu is great! It’s one of our go to places since we’re vegan.

The hospitality and quality of vegan food surpassed anything I had expected! Everything was so yummy! I was most impressed with their kindness. Thank you Govindas for feeding us so late!

I have had a lot of GREAT experiences dining at Govinda’s, the food is delicious & it has definitely been a gift on my journey. Food is truly thy medicine and I have enjoyed the bold flavors, spices & herbs infused in each dish. So Delicious! However, being a regular customer it’s easier to notice changes. I have been on two different occasions recently and noticed a shift. I can tell there is a change in the atmosphere, flavors have been greatly altered & the culture is not the same. I am still happy that there’s a place like this for many 🌱plant eaters to come… Peace.

What an amazing atmosphere. The people are exceptional, and the food somehow even better. All you can eat buffet for only 15 bucks. Even with only two trips, that's some of the most affordable vegan food in town. A literal can't miss.

The people working here are so incredibly kind, and the food is just as amazing. It is consistently something I get as comfort food, and the people working always make it a great experience. They only serve vegetarian food, and even offer a completely vegan menu on Sundays! Everything is made in house, and their samosas are crispy and well spiced. I never leave without at least one. Try their ginger lemonade! Not too sweet, and a strong ginger flavor that balances the tartness of lemon.

I eat here every week and every time I do I feel GREAT. The food never disappoints, and even the desserts are fantastic. The people working there treat you like family also. Highly recommend.

I really enjoyed this place for the food and aesthetics. It's a nice buffet-style Indian food spot and on certain days of the week it's all Vegan. The restaurant is really nice inside and out. It's located in this big beautiful area with plenty of space and also a lot of parking across the small road. It's connected to this large gorgeous temple and it has a small kid's playground just next to that. Super calm vibes, vegan indian food, pleasant staff, can recomend, will return.

The best vegetarian and vegan restaurant. No meat, eggs and no onions and garlic. Food with mode of goodness. Very sattvic. They always have vegan and non-vegan cheesecake. Very delicious. A nice place to sit down and eat and do your work/assignment here. Great atmosphere.

Govinda's is a well-known vegetarian and vegan restaurant chain that serves delicious and healthy food options. One of their most popular offerings is their vegan buffet, which has received rave reviews from customers. The buffet typically includes a wide range of dishes, including salads, soups, bread, rice, curries, and desserts. All of the food is vegetarian and vegan, and made from fresh and natural ingredients. The buffet also includes a variety of vegan-friendly options, such as tofu and tempeh, which are great sources of protein. Customers have praised Govinda's vegan buffet for its delicious flavors, high-quality ingredients, and reasonable pricing. Many have also noted that the restaurant has a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere, making it a great place to enjoy a meal with friends and family. Overall, if you're looking for a delicious and healthy vegan buffet, Govinda's is definitely worth a try. With its wide range of options and friendly atmosphere, it's no wonder that this restaurant chain has become a popular choice among vegans and non-vegans alike

Great buffet vegetarian food and awesome place. We went on Sunday which is a full of vegan line and have many choices for you to choose. The restaurant itself is so clean and peaceful. The food is perfect, not over spiced. I had a great experience here. I recommend to come try it yourself. For us, we will be back for sure ☺️

Really enjoyed this place, beautiful temple and surrounding and the food was priced really well for a buffet! The spice level was a little more mild than what I usually like but it was still delicious!! You can even get “to go” if you walk up to the counter and ask . They had drinks as well and spices you could buy inside. Everyone was really nice too.

Food was great and everything was flavorful. Wednesday, Friday and Sundays they have all vegan menu available. We went on a Wednesday for full vegan menu buffet. Lots of options. Only downside is that there were no vegan option available for Mango Lassi. Maybe plant based milk based one would have been great option especially on a vegan menu day instead of milk.
