This place is absolutely amazing love the place. Been here many times and their lamb chops are fantastic. Their biryinai is amazing lovely absolutely tastes beautiful the decor is up to date and very classy. Will be going here again and again. Honestly it's a nice little lovely place in central London.

The lunch set menu is excellent value at £35. Gentle, non-pushy service, a smart understated dining room, and a wine list with a fair variety of price points. Staff were understanding about our timing and keen to be helpful. Really good experience all round.

Very elegant Indian restaurant with both traditional and fusion cuisine. Sampler and Gourmet tasting menus are definitely worth the price. We greatly appreciated the thoughtful service as well. May now be my favorite Indian in London.

One of the best restaurants we've been to. Superb menu, service, taste, portions and atmosphere. The 4 of us came in to try the weekend lunch set menu. Though it was quiet when we came in, it got busy very, very quickly. The way the weekend set lunch works is you pay the set price per person and they bring out every meal listed on the set menu. Which is a lot of food. It comes to around 4 or 5 courses per person. The food quality and taste were unreal, we had some fussy eaters but everyone had an amazing experience and tried new dishes. Not a single person walked out hungry which is a credit to the chefs. The venue is easy to reach and find, except there is zero parking nearby. Mostly residents' bays. Highly recommend for everyone and anyone.

Well well well, recent reviews show a lot of disappointment, my experience was amazing. We were seated very quickly (not given a menu for a while not sure why), menu was a little difficult to understand but the skilled waiting team were able to explain. Food looked good and tasted even better. Was a wonderful experience and will go again.

AMAZING!!! Wow what a meal!!! Best Indian food outside of India!! The sommelier was fantastic, the wine pairing was spot on and made the food taste even better. The wait staff were very attentive, I was well taken care of. I asked some questions about the food prep as I could see it all as I dined and I was offered a tour of the kitchen and the chef was delightful. If I could give it 10 stars I would!!! This is a must visit place in London if you like food food and good wine. Perfect dinner, bravo!!!

We had the private dining room for a work social event. Every dish on the gourmet tasting menu was delicious. Good selection of fabulous alcoholic and non alcoholic cocktails. We were very well looked after throughout the meal.

The tasting menu experience with wine pairing was terrific. Every course was delicious, with some familiar flavors as well as some more sophisticated ones. We will absolutely go back. Arrive hungry, because the portions are not small. Also not for those who can’t handle a little bit of spice. Super friendly wait staff.

From walking in to walking out I can't fault them one bit. The service was the best I've ever had and the food was AMAZING. It was my birthday and they did not disappoint they even provided me a birthday dessert without my partner having to ask them as it was written in the booking originally the reason for visit. The attention to detail even with what I drank previously as the barman came over and recommended a drink which I would like and he did not disappoint. Please thank all your staff for making my birthday so special. I will definitely visit again.

It was overall a nice experience. We wanted to try the tasting menu. One of us is vegetarian and other non vegetarian and we were informed we can’t order a veg and a non veg tasting menu on the same table which is a bit weird given it’s a fine dining restaurant and one of the best. So was a bit disappointed. Also it was our anniversary as well (which we mentioned on the booking) but there was no gesture not even a note from the team there. Which was again a bit of a bad service. I feel these small things are what which differentiates a good restaurant from a great restaurant.

Amazing food, the best service, and a really nice atmosphere. This restaurant will definitely remain as one of my favorites and as a go to spot in London. Truly the best Indian food I’ve ever eaten - my favorite dishes were the samosas and the naan bread, but everything else was also top notch.

Delicious one Michelin star experience! The food here was fantastic, the drinks were creative and delicious, and the service was great. My spouse is Indian and we were both pleasantly surprised with how delicious and authentic the cuisine was, I guess to be expected from a one Michelin star restaurant! We especially loved the cocktails. One of the cocktails we ordered was fat washed with ghee which lent the drink an incredibly complex flavor profile. We will definitely be back next time we’re in London.

VERY Deceptive !!! Restaurant only serves Islamic halal meat -Why is this owner pushing Islamic halal meat, when 94% of their customers are English, non-Muslims and Christians.? I would avoid this Restaurant. !! Indirectly Imposing Islamic Sharia on the English's Plate ? Halal food another ways to islamifying England & Wales.

Location is really nice, in Mayfair. Restaurant looks good from the outside. Staff are friendly. The food was really good, I believe it is Michelin star. Will definitely visit again, but will go during the day as the menu is much cheaper. We paid £850 for 10 people

Sublime mix of stunning cocktails and delicious food. It's very rare to find this perfect mix. The service is warm and on point. Starters with Rajasthani chaat, allahbadi samosas are so so unique and taste fantastic! The bhindi masala in mains is one of the best I've had. Highly recommend this one.

Stunning. Simply stunning. Gourmet menu was delicious and portions were great so do not be put off at the price. Some of the best cocktails we have ever had and the staff at Tamarind were fantastic and took great care of us. Flavours and variety of the food were brilliant combined with an attractive decor it was special evening for my wife and I. Special recognition to our waiter and the Canadian wine expert (sorry bad with names) whose attention to detail and service standards were a wonderful finishing touch

Absolutely incredible Indian food, I really recommend the Gourmet menu- no thinking requited and they bring you out some amazing tasting dishes. Highlights were the lobster, scallops and just how fluffy the rice was! The staff explain every dish and the seasonings as they serve the courses which is a great way to get excited about what you're about to eat. There is a shortlist of great sounding cocktails and mocktails, something for everyone.

We visited this restaurant on a week day for a business lunch. The restaurant captures you from the minute you are welcomed at the reception. The entrance itself is great and we were warmly welcomed by two lovely polite hostesses which showed us to the table. The interior is fabulous and well designed, natural light, warm earthy colours, comfortable seating. We took the set lunch menu, which was well designed and planned. Good choice despite the limited lunch set menu. The wine list was overwhelming. We choose a lovely bottle of French rose from the south of France which was just superb. The service was seamless and very good. The floor service staff was well trained and polite. Nothing was too much trouble. Tha k you for a great meal and service, we will be back again.

Was looking for a great Indian restaurant and landed on this. We were definitely not disappointed! Great atmosphere, exceptional food, and wonderful experience. We tried the tasting menu, both meat and vegetarian, and were not disappointed by any dish. Every one was singularly incredible with an array and explosion of flavor. Tried the wine pairing to go with and was very pleased with how each one complimented the dish. Definitely a great value and experience!

In a city that I’ve never been in love with the cuisine, Tamarind of Mayfair was recommended by a friend and was exceptional. I tend to eat family style (so that I can try a selection of “tastes” and experience a variety of what the restaurant offers) and with the assistance of our server, there wasn’t one dish that I would not reorder. The vibe, the ambiance, the servers and most importantly the food created a memorable eating experience. Highlights include Griddled Scottish Scallops, Crispy Lobster, Coconut & Chilli Seabass, Chicken Tikka Hasnu, Tandoori Chicken Wings Lollipop, and Lamb Kakori (and Garlic Naan obviously). At 9:00 PM it was crowded (always a good sign) and all of the staff were amazing. I’m looking forward to being back in London for the sole purpose of eating at Tamarind of Mayfair.

We went for the tasting menu with wine pairing and everything was delicious. The portions are surprisingly large for a fine dining restaurant, it wasn’t easy to finish the full menu. Nice atmosphere and friendly service. Make sure to visit the kitchen in the basement, it’s fun to see how naan is made in the tandoori oven. The freshly made garlic naan right from the oven was the unexpected highlight of our visit.

Tonight we enjoyed an exceptional meal at Tamarind. We ordered the Gourmet tasting menu and it did not disappoint in any way. The staff were friendly and professional and made special menu modifications for allergy where many restaurants will not alter their fixed course offerings. I strongly recommend Tamarind for lovers of Indian food and those who want to experience it at its best.

This was our first visit to the original Tamarind and follows shortly after its reopening. The food was good, some dishes were even great. Service faltered on a couple of occasions - our champagne glasses were cleared before the champagne had been served! It was also a little over fussy and dare I saw a bit intrusive at times. All in all we had a good time though.

Great food and friendly staff. I felt to some extent that they somewhat overcomplicated the concept a little bit, but still it was very nice. What could have been good would have been if the different dishes were presented a little bit more in detail.

Superb diner. Highly recommend. Great service friendly and attentive staff. Decor is modern chic yet cosy. Upstairs a little more formal. Downstairs (where the open kitchen is) more fun and lively. Most of all the food was incredible. Tasty great flavours with enough spices but not too hot. The small plates grills are the best (particularly loved the grilled prawns and lamp shops a MUST). A little pricey but it’s Mayfair and worth every penny.

Over all very good food and service. A couple things of note. We went as a group and when order starters they mixed them together. For example ordering 3 small portions of samosa we got two plates with the three portions in them. Not sure why which also cause some to not have their full starters. The naan bread once cold was a bit to crunchy. Other than that the food was well presented and tastes really good. I had a drink, one starter, a main rice and naan for approximately £60 each.

Very tasty Indian food and the Sommelier was the best!! He knew exactly what went with every part of the meal and stayed with in our budget! He is a local gem!!! The chef was amazing, we sat downstairs and we even got a tour of the open kitchen and saw how they make such great food!! Took a drink upstairs and it was a totally different atmosphere, lighter and airy. I would love to go back when it is sunny to see the room upstairs and I believe they even have a private patio. If on the rare chance you go on a sunny day, let me know how it is!! Excellent experience and the food is to die for. I’m saving up to go back to London, and when I do, I’ll be eating here again!!!

While the staff were friendly, we were extremely disappointed with the overall experience. The food is not at all worth the price. We ordered some grills which was served to us first but then it took about 30 minutes for them to serve our biryani by which time we had even lost our appetite.

  • 5/5 Nevia S. 3 years ago on Google
Very interesting experience. As expected from a place within this price range the service was without a complaint, from stepping into the door and all throughout dinner the staff was attentive and friendly. The menu displayed traditional indian classics. I was really excited to taste traditional indian dishes which would be elevated to a fine dining experience. And they absolutely succeeded. First we had samosas and some tandoori prawns which were just heavily, still true to its original flavours with creative twists and cheats. We also had two different curries which were both very delicious. If you want to try an indian michelin star restaurant this will be a worthy experience. Does have it’s price nonetheless.

Much to my surprise. they were extremely poor with not only quality of food but service as well. We were in a group of 6 and had a reservation weeks prior. not only did they not have the reservation even though we had a confirmation by email and they called to confirm - but they didn't even have space to seat us. Because they were so full. We had to wait an hour to get a table. Waiter forgot my order and I had to eat after everyone else. Manager apologised but owner Fateh was rude and arrogant. Will not return and did not even get any money of the bill. Not worth it.

Took a booking over the phone for quite an important date and then called a few days before to cancel as they had OVERBOOKED! How can a establishment which prides itself on high end service give such a lack of it? Insult to injury the woman who called to cancel didn’t seem apologetic at all! Having dinned at Tamrind on several occasions before I can confidently say I will never be returning.

We loved our lunch at Tamarind. The service was outstanding and we felt very welcomed. We came with a 7m old baby and everyone was so accomodating that we could just relax and enjoy our lunch. We liked the selection of wine per glass and found the curry portions to be generous however the grills were on the small side. We found everything to be fairly priced regardless the size. I was just a little disappointed with my Dahl dish that lacked a bit of a 'decisive taste' but loved all the other dishes with samosas being a real surprise...

Honestly, the best Indian I have tried so far on a global scale. The food and the perfection in the tendering of the meats are just rare art you can barely find nowadays. It trumps other restaurants like Dishoom (very over hyped & bland food), Veraswamy, & Amaya. The chef and the staff were very housewarming and accommodating. Honestly, I would come back over and over if they were to be consistent in their food and service hopefully.

The worst customer service ever, very uncooperative staff. I’ve called in advance asking if my kid is allowed and they assured me that’s okay! Imagine arriving there after a long ride only to meet the rudest staff and told us we are not welcomed and can’t get in because of my kid.

We had the most amazing experience as Tamarind. Our waiter Cliford was absolutely lovely and made sure that my partner had the most amazing birthday dinner. One point is only for dessert. It was a very disappointing experience. We ordered the tasting menu. The food was of low quality and wasn't delicious. We made reservation two days before the visit and when we came there, we were not allowed in because we had a baby. They told us we can’t take a table with a child under 7 years and that it was mentioned on their website. IT WAS NOT. At least in a noticeable way and not in the reservation window. I double checked. This is not the first michelin restaurant we visited and NEVER we were not let in with our child. What I also noticed, the enter is not equipped for strollers, which means for me they are not only unfriendly for their younger visitors, but also for disabled people. Hope to be wrong. Never ever gonna visit this place again even when my child is 47.

The food was surprisingly salty. It was well cooked and fresh, nice presentations and portions but they should use other spices and flavor and not rely on salt.

Food was okay, however was on the toilet the whole night, which I wouldn't expect given the price! Contacted Tamarind to complain but had no answer!

Rightly spiced , cooked to perfection & well presented . Deserves a Michelin star. Thank you for the surprise birthday cake ....

With discounted Menu and Eat out to Help out it made sense. Otherwise did not understand the concept.

Absolutely loved this place! It’s on the pricey side but 100% worth it. We ordered a lot of dishes but my favourites were bhindi masala and ghee old fashioned. A great spot for date night or corporate dinner!

One of the posh Indian restaurant (حلال) in the central London and food is like mixture of different ingredients of Indian spices. Taste is good but unfortunately portions are not satisfactory. Great ambiance, great location friendly staff, service is also good.

Simply outstanding. All the food we ordered was spot in and we did order a few. The two appetizers were very good while the chicken curry as well as the lamp chops were in a class of their own. The service was impeccable. Well done

I could say as One of the high posh Indian restaurant in the central London and food is like mixture of different ingredients of Indian spices. Taste is good, nice hygiene but unfortunately portions are not satisfactory. This could have been considered as per the cost. I feel that this is must and disappointed with that. Great and wonderful ambiance, great location friendly staff, service is also good.!! Nice restaurant

Delicious would be understatement, food is just fantastic. Naan were crisp you can just eat them no curries required. After ages I had such juicy and flavourful prawn. Biryani was too rich. So if you are two, take 1 starter and 1 main since the food is quite filling. Mutton seekh & chicken tikka were made to perfection. Cocktails can be avoided, go for straight drinks. I ordered gin based cocktail it was way sweet to my liking. I requested to change it, which they did.

Been here twice, lunch menu is good value. We wanted to book a special meal here for a group of around 20 people. The manager here is so uncompromising, they want you to pay a large deposit but can’t even guarantee where you’ll be seated. Taking our business elsewhere
