So glad we did not cancel our reservation as we were going to based on reviews. I'm going to guess peoples standards are ridiculous or they're they kind of folks you just can't please. After a week of being here we finally had a fabulous, tasty, well prepared meal. The drinks were just as good. Serving sizes were on the large side and prices were more than fair. Peyton was great too!! He offered great service and was knowledgeable about the menu and the area. I can't wait to go back.

Great experience here. The fresh baked sourdough bread 🍞 was warm and delicious served with their own seasoning and oil for dipping. The lobster 🦞 tail was cooked to perfection. The stone crab 🦀 claws were decadent. Wonderful service. David took great care of us. Someone at our table got sushi 🍣and loved it.

Salt Rock Grill is our favorite place to grab a celebratory seafood meal in the area. Seafood is not hard to find in Indian Shores but if you want to sit down, have a glass of wine, and spend a little more money - Salt Rock Grill is one of the best spots. They have a very large restaurant with views of the water from both inside and out. The back of the restaurant has an outdoor bar and seating area that is very lively. Music is a little bit loud but so are the patrons on a busy night. If you want a quieter experience, try to get an indoor window table. We had the mussels which don't come in a red sauce but rather topped with some stewed tomatoes. Still tho, the mussels were perfectly executed. Pictured here is the grilled grouper. It was light and flavorful. Very obviously fresh and well complimented by the veggie medley. Save room for dessert. We recommend the key lime pie or the chocolate cake. We will definitely be dining here again. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful anniversary date at the Salt Rock Grill in Indian Shores today! We got coconut shrimp & key lime oysters appetizers, bread with herbaceous oil, salad and a mini 2 bite dessert (apple crumble). The key lime oysters came with two mini buttery garlic toasts- the appetizer really needs 6 of them to pair wirh each the 1/2 doz oysters if desired because they were fantastic on the bread! The shrimp were some of the best and most tender I have ever had. My husband got the Mile High Meatloaf for his entree and I got "Rock the Boat" (fresh catch of the day- red snapper, shrimp, crab, and scallops in a cream sauce). He thought that the meatloaf was a tad salty, but good. I enjoyed the seafood in cream sauce but be prepared for a rich dish and to take some home! It pairs well with the mashed potatoes. My husband saw a dolphin in his view and we both saw 3 manatee swimming together from where we ate! Our waitress, Taylor, was fantastic and even offered to take a picture of us out on the deck. We then walked out to look at the boats that they use to catch their "fresh catch" each day! Overall it was a wonderful dining experience & time together ❤.

We went for our anniversary dinner and it was great food. Really didn't feel expensive for the quality. Everything was great we had the MUSSELS PROVENÇALE, SURF & TURF, AND CROWN STYLE SNAPPER WITH CAULIFLOWER GRATIN AND POTATOES AUGUSTIN. I highly recommend if you want a great meal on the water. Our serve was Christine and she was really helpful with the menu and her attention to detail is top notch

Beautiful view A bit chilly inside, bring a jacket. Happy hour 5$ sangria (very soft) Happy hour 16$ a dinner which includes a very little salad , one scoop of ice cream for dessert and a small portion of the main course. Actually meatloaf was big. Service was just ok.

This was the most phenomenal dining experience! Frank was our server and he was exceptional! Super attentive and accommodating and professional. The food was outstanding, delicious and unique. We had the stone crab and oysters, salmon salad and scallop & sea-bass as well as lobster. The outdoor is super cozy with warmers and overheat lights. What’s really cool is they have several of their own boats and fish fresh every day! Just amazing experience! We loved it so much

The early dinner option is a great deal. Bread, salad, entree, side and small dessert. There are some upgrades available too. The food was all very good and the portions were good. The Grouper Chowder is an upgrade, but worth it. It might be a nice option to offer a small cup of soup instead of upgrade to the bowl to replace the salad. The daily catch was tuna. It was served with a creamy sauce with shrimp and crab? Nice flavor. The dessert was just the right amount and it was delicious. Small criticism on the salad croutons being not so fresh. Also the Mojito was not good. The mint was not muddled so no real flavor. I wouldn't recommend it.

Googled best steakhouse in Tampa and this came up and let me tell you..... THE FOOD WAS ABSOLUTELY DIVINE. The experience from start to finish was just first class. Ordered a variety of things and nothing disappointed. Expensive but TOTALLY worth it. Shout out to our server 'Hell yeah Heather', she was a blast. 10/10 would recommend!

We had an extraordinary experience last night at Salt Rock!! Our server *(Mike D) was superb. Very accommodating, recommendations were excellent!! We wanted to have about 95% of the items but couldn't eat them all so we will be going back today and Monday to continue to fulfill our culinary desires. Atmosphere was amazing, the smells tantalize all our senses!! Awesome job and would HIGHLY RECCOMEND checking these folks out!!! Great job!!!

First time coming here after hearing such great reviews over the years and left severely disappointed over the food for what we paid for and will probably not give it another chance. Ordered the grouper chowder and after a few bites I got a chunk of fish with the bones still inside. I understand it’s hard to get out the bones but for the price of this establishment I could of done it myself for cheaper. Server was amazing and gave me a salad instead with no issues. Then on the main course of the sea scallops with pasta it was so heavily sweet it was like eating a citrus soup. Almost like they added a bunch of sugar to sweeten it. No other flavor but the citrus came out. The bacon was undercooked as well. The only actual good food we had was the bread and oil they give to every table. And it was like that for both of our entrees. I guess this is how they do it there and somehow they make business. My recommendation is if you come here for scallops or chowder, be prepared to be disappointed like we were.

This was the best meal so far on my vacation. Vidal was our server. Not only was he knowledgeable about the offerings but was kind and answered all of our questions. I'm new to seafood and asked several questions about the fish and after talking to him, I decided on the blackened grouper. I have no regrets. To add to the delight of my meal, he asked about dessert. As a Celiac sufferer, desserts are usually not an option. Vidal shared the chocolate torte was gluten free. I ate tonight like it was my last meal and I have no regrets.

I have to admit that I wasn’t expecting much from this place simply because it’s part of a restaurant group in the Clear water area and I tend to stay away from that. As a foodie I have very high expectations. We were overnighting in CW for hubby’s birthday and didn’t want to drive 45 mins to Tampa as we already had lunch. This restaurant was recommended on a Facebook foodie forum so I decided to try it. First of all the greeting when you walk in was simply amazing! Everyone was all smiles even at 9pm on a Saturday night. Very impressive. But the best was yet to come. Our waiter BRENT set the bar so high with his big smile, enthusiasm and knowledge of the dishes. He made my husband feel very special through the night and we didn’t feel like a bother at all. We are a black family and we’ve had some pretty off putting experiences in our lifetime. The food was excellent with the exception of the spinach lemon risotto. A little more cream was needed and no hint of lemon. The key lime oysters were divine. Should have ordered two and my daughter inhaled the escargots. She’s 13 and has a very refined palate. She couldn’t get over the butter sauce.🤣 The sea bass was highly recommended by BRENT - buttery, fresh, texturally pleasing omg! We also had the pasta with scallops wrapped in bacon. Loved the flavor profile of the dish. A great balance of tomato and cream and fresh scallops that melted in your mouth. At the end BRENT surprised my hubby with a birthday candle on top of ice cream with chocolate drizzle. I didn’t even ask him and he did it. My kids said … Mom he definitely should get 20% tip! He is awesome. So to the management of Salt Rock Grill, please show your appreciation to BRENT because he made our dining experience exceptional! Thank you!!!

If I could give more than five stars, I would. The attention to detail at this place was unreal. Everything from the appetizers (get the escargot...just get it), to the fish, to the sides (that is the best damn loaded baked potato I have ever had in my life), and the dessert. So good. 10/10 recommend! If you are in the area...make sure this is one of your stops!

It was the first time we had ever been here as we received a gift card from my boss. We arrived early and the parking lot was already full. We had made reservations and were seated right away. Brent was our server and did an excellent job. We didn't wait long for him to take our drink order. When he came back with our drinks, we ordered apps and entrees. He advised he would hold off putting the entree order in until he saw us enjoying our appetizers. The appetizers came quickly and were delicious we had the Firecracker Tuna and Tuna Spread. The Tuna was cooked perfectly and the flavors were amazing. Our enteees came promptly after we finished our appetizers. We had the Thai Salmon and Stuffed Sea Bass with garlic masshed potatoes. Once again, the fish was cooked perfectly, nothing chewy or off. It tasted delicious. We barely had room for dessert, but decided to try Banana Rum Bread Pudding. It came out hot and fresh. Brent was an excellent server. He was attentive and prompt with our dishes, but never made us feel rushed. We will definitely go back and would ask for him on a future visit😊

Don’t really know what all the hype is about? Parking was almost full when we got there on a Monday at 5pm. The parking lot has faded lines so everyone was parked wherever they could squeeze in. Place looked almost closed from the outside. Dinner took a long time. Like 30 minutes between drinks, apps, and entrees each just waiting. Bread didn’t even get dropped until after we got apps. They have a new room up front with hard floors and the noise in my father’s words was “unbearable.” Could barely hear each other. Food was OK but small portions for the money and it was all lukewarm when we got it. Cesar salad was tasteless and desert apple cobble ice cream had basically uncooked apples in it. I got a burger and fries which was pretty tasteless given the tasty ingredients listed with the saddest side of fries ever. Maybe spare and extra half of potato next time for our $200 dinner. Expected more quality, we all agreed that was the last visit.

The atmosphere and service are on point! They serve bread and oil dip that is very good. I didn't think much of what I ordered. The filet was cold and rather tough. The scalloped potatoes were not seasoned properly and was just a blob of cheese. The Mac and cheese however was a good order. I enjoyed the server so much I would return just to be served by the gentleman again. We plan to return to the area next month, I will try again and hopefully I will be able to update this review.

A fantastic eatery that checks all the boxes with 5 stars!! The atmosphere is phenomenal; service is upscale and the food is beyond delicious!! Huge wine list, open kitchen and fresh food displayed before it's cooked for you. Indoor and outdoor seating, indoor and outdoor bar. Boat ramps. We couldn't have picked a better place to enjoy a spectacular dining experience. I'd definitely recommend Salt Rock to anyone looking for nice place to dine. We enjoyed lobster, oysters (I loved the Key lime oysters) and Mahi-Mahi with jalapeno potatoes. All food coming from kitchen looked yummy!

The Salt Rock Grille, simply put, is fantastic. Although it is on the more expensive side of dining, it's well worth it. The food is terrific (with a varied menu as well). The views are oustanding, the service is wonderful and it is a great place to celebrate a special occasion. We get there about 3 or 4 times a year, and we are always delighted. The only challenge at times can be parking. So get there early and have a drink at the bar until it's time for your reservation!

The menu offered a wide variety of choices! From steaks to sushi to freshly caught seafood, you could definitely find something to your liking. Our group ordered a couple of their pasta dishes, the key lime grilled oysters, the tuna collar, and desserts. Our server was attentive and had great recommendations. It’s great that they offer a parking lot but it was absolutely filled when we got there. There are metered spaces to the right of the restaurant though. Overall a great experience but the prices were kind of high for what we received. I would recommend trying it!

The best dining experience I’ve ever had!! First, the food was amazing. Everything cooked and prepared perfectly. The best fish i’ve ever had. Second, the customer service was splendid. Rain was coming and the staff immediately assisted us at bringing in all our food and guiding us to an indoor table. Beautiful waterfront seating and scenery. All this made for a perfect meal and evening! Our server Joshua was friendly, fast, and amazing.

The food was hands down the BEST! I love seafood & have had great & not so great. The lobster tails were prepared & tasted exactly the way they should, tasty, melts in your mouth, no butter needed. Everyone loved their meal. The Mac n cheese was great but a little heavy on the garlic, which I love. Coconut shrimp was perfect & not overly breaded like most places. However, the hostess was extremely rude b/c we were late, had a baby emergency & she was gonna make us wait another hour & 30 min. Also, didn’t have the best server but they weren’t awful. Make reservations, the food is worth every penny. 4 stars b/c of hostess, we almost left.

Salt Rock Grill was amazing! Blew my expectations away from our servers Adam and Charles providing the best service we had all week long eating out, to the food turning out amazing! (Good job chiefs much appreciated for the Maui Maui and New York Strip Steak) The Tartare was delicious. We will for sure be back to enjoy another meal when we are back in town.

We are visiting the area for the first time as an anniversary trip and I was so pleased to be able to obtain a reservation on New Year’s Day. We were promptly escorted to our indoor table where Maggie graciously explained the menu. On a warmer evening, I would love to eat outdoors, but they do have heaters. My husband enjoyed the blood orange margarita while I had a virgin rum runner. They make their drink mixes in house too! The bread was so fresh & went well with their herb & olive oil mix. THE APPETIZERS! In my opinion appetizers can be hit or miss at large restaurants BUT their firecracker tuna should not be missed! Both the calamari & tuna were tender fresh and not overly breaded. We consumed both immediately. Our salads arrived next; my husband thought they were appropriately sized as a side salad, but as a veggie eater I wished it was larger. By the end of the meal he was right, because we were stuffed! Our entrees were delicious; both the snapper and salmon were fresh, tender & flavorful. We missed out on their stuffed sweet potato but the garlic mashed potatoes were a pleasant addition. The chocolate torte that ended the meal perfectly. I highly recommend; whether you prefer seafood or steak, there’s something on the menu for you.

There was not alot of parking for the amount of people the restaurant could hold. The parking lot was packed so I called to see how long the wait was while we found a parking spot and they said an hour and a half on the phone. However, immediately after when we went inside we were seated almost immediately on the back deck. Our server Adam, I believe was his name, was very informative. I got the new york strip steak and it was excellent. I also got a summer breeze cocktail that was so cool and delicious. We had a few issues with drinks but our server immediately fix the situation. We had a great time and great service. Definitely recommend but be prepared to spend some money.

This has been our "special occasion" go to since they opened. It used to be food and service that you could count on. After our visit yesterday and the 2 prior, we will move on. Food quality is not nearly what it used to be. Service is mediocre. We waiting a good 10-15 minutes before anyone even greeted us. Last time we were there our server was all sweaty (hair all wet), it was pretty disgusting. Everyone at the table yesterday had something different, 2 people has a fish sandwich. Quality of the sandwich was beach bar worthy. Disappointed that it has changed this much but we will not be back. Food and service does not justify the price.

Salt Rock is the perfect restaurant for any special occasion. My husband and I go here frequently for delicious meals. He usually sticks to the Seared Bacon Wrapped Scallop Pasta and it is perfect every time. I am a little more adventurous and usually try various specials. My favorite and almost anything served “Oscar”. I think you can order anything off of their menu and you will leave satisfied. Just make sure to book your reservation in advance.

  • 5/5 Jessica J. 9 months ago on Google
Salt Rock never disappoints! This time I ordered Parmesan encrusted mahi-mahi and it was fabulous. I love sitting outside and was pleased to see several fans in the outdoor dining area which helped us stay cool. Tip: Always make a reservation. They have a new early dining menu with tons of fantastic dinner options for $19. However, it’s bringing quite the crowd so reservations at least 48 hours in advance is recommended.

We had our anniversary dinner there, 8/7. The waiter could not have been friendlier or more helpful, I wish I remembered his name. I asked if they could cook my steak well done, sorry pink meat grosses me out, cuz if not I'd order chicken. He told me it will be prepared however I like. My steak was probably THE BEST steak I have had in a long time. Well done and I could cut it with a fork. I wanted to tell the Mgr to thank the chef but he was busy. Went to a seafood place in Bellair and they seriously took my steak back 4 times and still not cooked. I had auto gratin taters instead. :(

  • 5/5 Karl L. 9 months ago on Google
Well done atmosphere starting as you enter to smell and see the giant grill on display and the mini meat and seafood market surrounding it. The hostess stand was full of young women to seat you, but most of them were deadpan, truly uninterested. Our waiter was much more invested in a nearby table for 8 than in just the two of us on our anniversary dinner, but with the help of kitchen runners we eventually were served. Really, there was no interaction with him that couldn't have been done with a kiosk until the other table left. I wouldn't return for the service alone. Thankfully the food was very good. Steak tartar was some of the best. It's arrival so very quickly after ordering is suspicious for having been premade, but flavor and presentation were good. She got a single lobster tail and was happy with the result. I got a basic wood fired piece of mahi mahi that thankfully followed the appetizer because, while good, was pretty small. Yes, we would definitely return for the food and the fairly reasonable pricing, but hopefully someone finds a way to fix the dour looks on the faces of the majority of employees.

One of the best dinners we've had. The escargot was FANTASTIC, the New York strip steak was cooked perfectly, and the mashed potatoes were awesome. Our server Derek was probably the best server we've ever had, he never let our drinks go below half and checked on us frequently despite being busy. We had the peach cobbler cheesecake for dessert and it was to die for. We appreciated the great food and great service.

  • 5/5 Dave “Doodles” N. 7 months ago on Google
5 stars all around. All dishes were delicious. Everyone in my party was pleased with service, staff, drinks and entrées. The only thing, and maybe just that particular night, the lobster bisque was a bit on the salty side. Everything else done perfectly. Calamari, full rings, not chewy, crispy to perfection. Scallop crusted sees bass in pan sauce is flavorful, with side of garlic mashed, filling. Lobster and shrimp saute, light cream sauce, plenty of lobster and shrimp, pasta done right, not aldante or over cooked. A definite go to when in the area.

I had not been to Salt Rock Grill for some time, but it had always been a special place to go for an excellent meal and great atmosphere. I ordered dinner from the early menu for pickup and was greatly disappointed. While the fish was pretty good, the rest of the meal was not. The garlic mashed potatoes looked like they had been sitting in the container for quite some time. The desert, which I was told was "a surprise" when I asked what it would be, was not worthy of the Salt Rock Grill I remembered. The quality was very low. It was a cobbler, clearly a low-quality filling, flavorless, gelatinous, and just sad. I felt a bit hood-winked. The fact that my bread never hardened makes me wonder what kind of chemicals were in it (How hard is it for a restaurant to make or buy fresh bread?). Neither of us ate our house salad. Unappealing. I hope you guys pick your game up. Maybe it was because the meal was from the early menu, and you don't consider that important. My feeling is that every meal that comes out of the restaurant should be the same high quality. Charge more if you have to, but don't serve subpar food.

The main course portions aren't huge, but no one wants to take fresh fish home to reheat anyway, so its ok. Loved the bread and olive oil mixture and had room for the warm apple crisp for dessert. Great place to celebrate my birthday!!

Good as usual. Bit disapointed that several customers did not wear masks while walking around. Also, some staff were wearing only a face shield, no mask under it. That is not protective enough. Will be a while before I would feel comfortable going again.

A third of a star if possible! I am lost for words, what was one of my favorite restaurants provided me and a special guest who I wanted to experience one of the best and welcome her to Tampa Bay; one of the worst dinning experiences I have had. I do not know what happened but I never had a terrible meal their before.. i have taken family, talent and special love one to Salt Rock for years. Service was horrible! Wait staff did not know menu/specials, food that should of never made it to a table, did! An oyster that was not the oyster but the shell made it to us. Asked where these oysters were from we were told of some river up north. Won't go on to the main course, being consistent to the night ? is what I will share. Horrible dining experience, truly disappointed!

Great views, nice inside and outside bars. Some friendly and helpful servers and bartenders. Caution: its Crazy busy All the time. Reservations. Reall good food. Jave to watch out if you are gluten free. They are not on top of that. But very nice place.

Did not have a great experience for our dining tonight. 1. We didn't get greeted for 15 min after sitting down. We had to ask a guy filling up waters for a server. And he was even a bit rude when we asked. 2. Tried to order pinot grigio and they were out of our first 2 options (bin 78 & 77) We ordered 12 oysters, lobster bisque, lamb rack, "stuffed" sea bass, and hog snapper. The oysters are just OK. Not a lot of flavor. Came with 1 lemon for 12 oysters...had to ask for more lemon and tiny forks. Lamb rack was in the sous vide for too long and became mushy. (My husband always cooks with our sous vide and has lots of experience and knowledge about this particular cooking method.) My hog fish was only cooked on 1 side making the other side all soft and soggy. Got 2 desserts, cheesecake and creme Brulee. We do not have any desire to go back. The food very much lacked in experience. Sucks because it is a great location.

Beautiful spot on the water! We had our dinner outside and enjoyed the experience. One meal - bacon wrapped scallops - was too notch. Our other dinner not so good - avoid the lobster and shrimp in a cream sauce with pasta. Keith our server was excellent. We will for sure go back again!!

Annual tradition to dine here has yet to disappoint! Though it is noisier and brighter (less cozy) since the remodel a few years ago, the food remains amazing and so does the view. The grouper, steak K-bobs, and crab stuffed mushrooms were absolutely delicious. And we love their house vinaigrette as well. Staff is quick, knowledgeable, and unobtrusive. Highly recommend!

The bartenders were amazing. Try the shrimp cocktail!! Delicious. Very knowledgeable staff about my gluten allergy. The food was absolutely amazing! We love it and will definitely return when we visit the area again! Thank you for a lovely date night!

My boyfriend and I made the trip from Tampa to Salt Rock as I hadn't been in many years - very glad we did! What a great value and ambiance SRG still is, despite the pouring rain we encountered. We enjoyed all of our food, my boyfriend thought the Hog Fish was excellent. I am glad I splurged on the Mac N Cheese. Randall provided great service, we will back hopefully better weather next time!

Went here for a birthday celebration last night. Party of 16, impeccable service from beginning to end, thank you Chris. Now for the food, the fresh bread and oil could be a meal in itself, top notch Filet, meatloaf and everyone"s seafood was amazing. great ambiance and the manager paid us a visit to make sure everything was just right. this is the kind of place that deserves more then 5 stars. we will definitely be back!!

👍👍 Delish lobster roll! We split the Maine lobster roll with coleslaw and it was very good. Great customer service too. Friendly and went above and beyond to cut the lobster roll in half for us as well. Will make this spot a regular in our trips to Indian shores!
