Coming from the United States, I never had curry much before arriving in England. I tried Urban Tandoor once, and they have helped me gain a deep love and appreciation for this wonderful dish. The staff is amazing, the vibe is calming, and the food simply tops it off. I will be coming back for years to come!

Amazing restaurant!! Hidden away on a side street, you arrive to this busy quirky looking little spot split into to buildings. At first glance this place doesn’t appear to be much, but it was packed!!! And when we got in side we understood why. Staff were fantastic, attentive & genuinely wanted to speak with you. There was a gentleman there possibly the owner overlooking everything making sure it ran smooth, again asking our occasion, where we were from etc showed a real sense of care and interest. Food was soooo good!!! Amazing in fact, beautifully presented. Authentic, fresh, just perfect. As it was my birthday they gave me a complimentary drink and dessert, which was lovely! We were wowed from start to finish this place is obviously very popular but it’s great to see they still care so much about their customers and make such an effort!! We don’t live in Bristol but will certainly return when we come back!!! Thanks for a great night

I loved absolutely everything about this restaurant. The food was fantastic, the staff were really friendly (especially Carlos) and all made a big fuss about it being my birthday meal. The restaurant is also really cosy, it's got a really lovely atmosphere and aesthetic. Would 100% recommend

Great father's day meal at Urban Tandoor. The selection of options was not too big, so not too much option anxiety. once food order all delivered on time and in an appealing manner. Really tasty meals in a good size for all.

We walked in on a Friday evening without a reservation. Impeccable service from warm welcome, efficient order follow up , attentive and waiters were patient to explain the dishes to us. We were fortunate to have Carlos who served our table. They do not have a wide range of dishes in the menu like many other Indian restaurants but they cover major Indian authentic dishes, and the food were amazing especially the lamb shank. The vibe was wonderful, many guests were there to celebrate their special events. You will feel welcome and cheerful as soon as you step foot in the restaurant. The price was reasonable and the portion was generous. Don’t miss it when you visit Bristol. P. S. No complimentary services charge

Not from Bristol, but glad we found this hidden restaurant. Me and husband love their authentic butter chicken. Everything else we ate were super delicious too!! No other restaurant has beaten their flavours yet. Customer service was very quick and we were made to feel welcome by staff and management.

Urban Tandoor is probably one of the best curry places I've ever eaten at. Friendly staff, great food, and a great atmosphere. I have found the Goan Fish curry to be my favorite dish there, and would recommend it to anyone who is looking to go.

Visited here on one of the weekend evenings. Dimmed light atmosphere and packed seats. Food came out in less than 10 minutes of ordering. Great taste and enough portions. Would return there againz

Absolutely banging! The food was amazing definitely lives up to the hype... and tiktok. Everyone that served us was great and excellent turn around. Carlos was a great waiter and witty (especially in relation to my husbands icecream which he said was delicious). All in all a bloody great night... also 10 points on the decor.

One of our regular haunts. Food is beautiful. Tonight was bitterly cold, and the constant coming and going from delivery people was a distraction and let in the cold, which made the experience less wonderful than it usually is.

Very good curry house! The best I've had in Bristol. The food is unbelievably tasty. The staff are brilliant; helpful, welcoming and funny. Can be a bit noisy at peak times. Would 100% recommend this to anyone. One of my favourite spots to meet with old uni friends before heading off for a beer!! 10/10 🍛🌟

We went there for a late lunch on last Saturday. The place was very quiet and comfortable which we were looking for. We have ordered some papadum, mixed tandoori platter & chicken Biriyani. The food was delicious and their customer service was excellent. They served us a complimentary dessert knowing it was our wedding anniversary. The person in charge seemed really caring… I want to mention that he spontaneously brought water noticing that my little girl was coughing in her sleep. I was really pleased with their service… haven’t seen such customer service in a long time! Anyone in Bristol looking for good food in a peaceful environment should definitely go there

This place is really cozy and must visit for Indian Food Lovers. The ambiance makes you feel calm and nice Indian songs in the background makes you feel home. The chaat options are good. Samosa Chat and Onion Bhajia are the ones you can go for. The chatanis are also nice. They have limited options for veggies but plenty for non vegetarian. One bowl of Sabji will serve two people. They also have an to dogy bag in case of left over.

This site is my number one restaurant. Of all restaurants I know I favor it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to this restaurant. Whenever I I need a special dinner, this is the place that comes right away to my head. very good and many types of food and a large menu.courteous team, and agreeable vibes. And very important, the price is fair. I sent my friends to this restaurant with great pleasure.

Definitely one of the best Indian restaurant in Bristol. After a tiring bike ride last weekend with my mates we headed to this restaurant as it was recommended by one of our mates. The restaurant looked quite busy but we were quickly offered a table by the waiter. The quality of the food was excellent, very friendly staff. I had the tiger prawns and Salmon moilee recommend by the waiter which was really delicious. I will definitely recommend and visit this restaurant again.

Outstanding. I consider myself something of an afficionado of Indian food. (Don't we all!). But this is a whole different level. Even the pickle tray and poppadoms were a culinary triumph! Calamari perfectly cooked in the lightest batter and Lamb Rogan Ghosht was the most tender, flavoursome meat I have had. Go. Just go there. Go there now.

The whole experience has been amazing. We order Calamari and chicken for starters. Both of them fresh and delicious. As a main we get the lamb curry and the fish curry. I don’t have words to explain how amazing was this!! Thanks to our waiter Matias and Sujit for make our first anniversary so special! We will be back soon! We highly recommend this restaurant if you like fresh, tasty and healthy food! 🙏🏼

Visited last night for the first time, absolutely amazing service! The vegan menu is seperate which was brilliant and made it much easier. You just tick what you want to order on the menu and they process it for you. Poppadoms and dip were fabulous, both curry's and side were flavourful and absolutely fantastic and we were given a free bucks fizz to celebrate England winning the euros match! Really reasonably priced and beautifully decorated too.

Found this place using the Happy Cow app as we wanted an Indian meal but I needed vegan options. Fantastic decor almost like a Greek taverna with vines, branches and fairy lights hanging from the ceilings. There are positive affirmations written on the walls and staff t-shirts. All the staff were really friendly and very attentive. The restaurant has a dedicated vegan menu. The food was really tasty and we shall definitely be returning.

Urban Tandoor is a must visit if you are in Bristol and love Indian food. The dishes are authentic, delicious and the portion sizes are generous. The staff are incredible, they go above and beyond and are so friendly and funny it really makes such a difference and is one of the reasons it's such a great place to go for dinner. I couldn't fault anything about the restaurant and would highly recommend it.

Good, muted atmosphere, but the people are too close and it ruins it, not completely but not as separated one would like. The food didn't have a lot of taste honestly. The starter was better than the curry! Very surprising indeed. Portions have taken a hit in weight... Paratha was good. Beer was good. Overall, may come for round two,or may go somewhere else to try the other restaurants. Still, good to v. good.

The Urban Tandoor is located on Small Street, Bristol. No prizes in guessing that this restaurant presents Indian cuisine. The food is great and affordable. This is a great Indian restaurant in the heart of Bristol. The food and service is outstanding. Booking is essential to guarantee a table. This is a pure Indian restaurant, in that if you fancy chicken and chips then you will not find it! Best Lamb and Tiger prawn dishes. The lamb kebabs are the best I have ever had. This is great place to splash out a bit with loved ones or a group of friends. My only negative is that the lighting is very low so it's hard to read the menu! Still, get your phone out, whack on the torch and enjoy the delights that makes Urban Tandoor so special.

Urban Tandoor and its sister restaurant Urban Kohinoor are some of my favourite restaurants in Bristol. I was so happy to see they had reopened for delivery/takeaway on the 1st May after closing due to the pandemic. I chose to collect my meal rather than get it delivered and the collection was done with all safety/social distancing measures in place and the staff were as friendly as always. The food was exceptional, so fresh and the flavour or quality wasn’t compromised at all. I had the butter chicken masala and my partner had the lamb karahi and neither of us were disappointed. Please help support this local business so they can continue to provide Bristol with their amazing Indian food. Thanks Urban Tandoor for the fantastic meal and we can’t wait to come back once your restaurants are open for dining again.

Ordered a takeaway due to all the good reviews. From the time I placed an order on Deliveroo to it arriving at my house was exactly 14 minutes (I think I live a 9 minute drive away). I think this just shows the curries are just made in bulk and reheated when needed. Very average curry. I have made better at home

Myself and my friend were gobsmacked by the rudeness of the waiter. Some of our party had not arrived and he uttered passive aggressive sentiments under his breath. The food was decidedly average and we were constantly asked when we could leave for the next booking, despite ordering an expensive bottle of red wine with our three meals. I was surprised to hear they'd won awards though overhype does happen in Bristol.

(Translated by Google) Cozy Indian restaurant and very well run by the Portuguese friend ... By the way there are several Spaniards working. I wrote them a while before an email and in 5 minutes I had reserved a table ... Good service. Kingfisher beer ... I prefer it to the Indian Cobra. We advise ourselves and try the baked lamb Nihari Gosht (16.95) ... of category with a very tasty meat and great color. Tb a chicken with Madras curry (10.95 euros) ... Apparently this curry has many awards but I did not like it much ... More for my tastes that I like sweeter Indian dishes than for the category of the dish. Before some spicy samosa dumplings. By the way you can order it more or less spicy dishes. We ordered the cheese nan (3 euros) .. finite and with the right amount of cheese. Total just under 50 pounds both.

Genuinely the best tikka I’ve ever had - chicken was perfect and the naan was also amazing

One of the nicest Indian meals I've had. They made a korma for one of my boys who prefers a milder flavour, even though it wasn't on the menu. Prawns were beautifully cooked, tasty coconut sauce. Goan fish curry lovely strong curry leaf flavour. Everything beautifully spiced. Even had a bottle of Indian Sauv Blanc which had a bit of a Riesling flavour, even slightly smokey like whisky. Loved it!

THE BEST Indian restaurant we have ever been to. We’ve eaten here several times and it has been faultless at each visit. From the warm and friendly greeting, amazing service to the best Indian cuisine around… 👌🏻The food is absolutely delicious. Thank you for making our special trip to Bristol just perfect. Absolutely amazing food, the staff are so so friendly they cannot do enough to make you feel welcome. Good knowledge of gluten free and cross contamination for coeliacs too. Will definitely be back!

I haven’t been to Urban Tandoor for a few years and it is still one of the best Indian restaurants in the whole city. They’ve expanded the restaurant so there’s more seating now and they’ve also re-decorated. Menu isn’t over-complicated, offering classic dishes and some Urban Tandoor specialities. We had lamb tikka, onion bahjis, Salmon Moille and Butter Chicken with lemon rice, tarka dal and naan breads. Every dish was fantastic, fresh, tender, not oily and the spicing well balanced. The food is also presented really nicely, something you never get from a takeout. The service is always extremely efficient there without being rushed and what I particularly appreciate is how they checked everything was to our liking during each course, something a lot of these more ‘casual’ dining places overlook. They’re known for their lamb dishes and the Salmon Moille is particularly special so try those with the obligatory pint of Cobra.

Delicious takeaway, delivered bang on time and piping hot. I cannot fault the food we ordered and service received. The lamb in both the biriyani and the rogan josh was beautifully tender and moist. Dishes were well spiced and not at all greasy. The breads were also delicious, chewy but light. You pay restaurant prices for a takeaway, but you get restaurant quality food. Cannot recommend enough.

Exciting ambience with elegant decoration and warm welcome from manager and the staff. Really nice restaurant, far beyond the typical Indian. The food was outstanding with a refined choice of dishes. The service was excellent too. Very helpful in advising on the choice of the dishes.

Quite expensive but the service was only okay with not enough staff and the food was a bit of a mixed bag. The Chicken Tikka Masala had too much cardamom. The Chicken Vindaloo only tasted of spiciness and nothing much else. The Naan was nice but a bit overcooked. The lachna paratha didn't have enough ghee so was a bit hard. The Chicken Tikka is nice and juicy. The Mango Lassi was a bit too thick and tasted of mango syrup, not fresh mangoes. The lamb Briyani was quite nice.

Booked to go here for my works leaving do as I'd heard really positive reviews. Disappointed to be honest. It was busy, dark and loud. Could not enjoy the company I was keeping for dinner (part of the whole experience of eating out). Service was not very welcoming. The food was bland and lacking in those strong 'authentic' flavours. Will not be returning or recommending -know of many better Indian restaurants in Bristol.

I don't know what average is here in Bristol when it comes to a good curry but this certainly was not up to scratch by any standard I've come across. Delivered very quickly which just shows that it's reheated not made to order. Nothing super bad but wouldn't recommend at all.

Had a lamb curry and madras chicken both of which were tasty, not at all spicy (sadly for me) and service was fine. The food just didn't stand out as outstanding, sort of lacked depth to the taste. They had separating screens between tables, single use menus, staff face masks for Covid separation but totally negated by a rotating fan blowing across the tables, around the screens. We were in the upper level, would be hot otherwise, but ... . Our big problem was the noise. They have no sound absorbing surfaces, all hard so easily cleaned but reflect sound. Music was on loud. Then we had a group of men talking incredibly loudly next to us (OK, restaurant can't do much about this, but the loud music probably added to it). Made use leave as quickly as possible after eating, couldn't talk across our two person table, couldn't hear waters questions.

After reading such good reviews about this place and their sister restaurant in Clifton, my wife and I ordered from here 2 weeks back. Unfortunately none of the chicken had been marinated, both curries lacked any depth of flavour, the rice was bland and the whole meal disappointing. I thought we may have been unlucky so ordered again from here tonight. However again the chicken was bland having not been marinated, the rice bland, the curry sauce was very, very sweet and no depth of flavour, the naan bread bland and undercooked. Not sure if the old chefs are furloughed, but we will not be ordering from here again.

Went here for a friend's birthday I could not find a dish I wanted off the menu. what I did have was ok but not up to my normal high Street curry house standard had a lot better.

I placed my order on Deliveroo at 5PM(!!?) to get a delivery between 8:30PM and 9PM. I had my food delivered after 10PM and all my plans for Saturday night went up in the air. Decent Indian food, I would just strongly advice against any delivery over the weekend.

Had high hopes but was quite disappointed. The restaurant is drab and needs updating. Food was alright but was a bit basic. Staff were friendly.

We went there after a 12 miles hike and were really hungry. Service was fast - we had our food served within 15 mins of placing the order. For a Table of 6 with entres and mains all together within 15 mins I'd say a good job. Ordered Lamb Chops - this was good tasty and tender, Mains - Malabar curry with Prawns was disappointing. The cumin powder overpowered the whole dish. Apparently this is no 1 rated Indian restaurant in Bristol.. I'd say there is room for improvement.

FANTASTIC!!! Every dish was ridiculously good! From the Samosa, which was beautifully plated, to the Chicken Tikka, Butter Chicken, Tiger Prawns, Lamb Byriani, garlic naan and incredible desserts! Super cool ambiance and decor, very friendly/ accommodating staff and extremely affordable. All around, the quality was on point. Highly recommend.

First time a few weeks ago was great, this time the meat was absurdly dry and the mixed tandoori grind was pale with no colour. All curries were very bland and tasteless. Very disappointed as I've heard great things about this place and my first experience was so good so not sure if they were having an off day, but this food should not have been served.

Perfect indian taste. Authentic curries. The taste of each curry is authentic and they are consistent with their food taste and quality. Even on busy friday night the service was quick and friendly. For people who love spicy surely go for Goan Vindaloo curry or authentic madras curry with garlic naan. Starters naga chicken for sure.

Went as part of a stag group, as we had seen Urban Tandoor advertised through Instagram and TikTok. The food was amazing and the atmosphere of the place was great, with moments calling out birthdays and anniversaries as well as a rendition of Sweet Caroline. Our group was well accommodated for, with the waiter's routinely checking in on the food as well as any further drinks being needed. The food is well presented and tastes amazing and full of flavour, I would say that compared to most Indian takeaways, it did feel 'hotter'. I had the Guinea fowl Chattinadu as its something I hadn't had before, really great flavours and would recommend to others. I feel like we went in to Urband Tandoor, expecting a bit of a gimmick, but were blown away by just how good the food and service was. I'd highly recommend to anyone.

Really good food. The lamb shank was especially great. I've come from Leicester which has tonnes of Indian food and this compares really well to everything tried over there. Really worth a visit
