Attentive service and very good Indian food. We had Murgh lal mirchi and Prawn Puri starter, Bagh chingri jhul for a main and it was all delicious. Quite expensive but worth it. Even got a drink on the house at the end of the meal. Top banana.

A little on the pricier side but maybe I'm just used to takeaways all the time! Really good food, always busy, staff very helpful and always up for a laugh. Great evening with the lads!

This is a lovely restaurant with friendly staff. The food was perfect, certainly one of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to. For a main course and a couple of drinks, it's about £30 per head so while not the cheapest, you will certainly receive your money's worth in quality. After the meal, the waiter's offered all of us complimentary drinks. Choices included Port, Sambuca and Whisky. For non drinkers, I'm sure they would offer a soft drink. Restaurant was busy so would advise booking a reservation before attending. I would certainly come back to this restaurant.

Well established restaurant on the Maidstone curry house scene. It's been here a long while for good reason - excellent service, very attentive but in no way intrusive. The standard of food is also great - well presented and very tasty. I did feel the food was pricey, but you do get an excellent all round dining experience.

Absolutely amazing Indian, very tasty, nice old building and friendly staff. Came because of the good reviews and they're not wrong. If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely visit again !

Been going to Shamrat for best part of 18years now...it gets better and better. Front of house staff always professional and prompt. Food is something else. In my opinion its by far the best Indian in Maidstone, easily. Keep up the standards and good work!!

They have updated the menu since we last visited, the food was excellent full of flavour and just the right amount. I had the lamb samosa to start then murgh Makhani, with a keema nam, very well presented and extremely tasty. The restaurant was fairly busy we did book a table in advance just to be on the safe side though. Will definitely be going back for another evening out there.

Kept waiting nearly half hour in overcrowded bar area without any acknowledgement from staff. Very poor service. Am shocked, used to be excellent there. Our group of 10 all said we wouldn't return. Only saving grace is that the food was excellent

Been coming to this restaurant for many years. The food is wonderful, the staff friendly, the restaurant is clean and has a great atmosphere. No wonder they’re so busy! Would definitely recommend.

I love asking the question “what do people rave about when they eat here?” When the staff answer with “everything” I feel lost. When the staff throw in “it depends how spicy, with sauce, from the tandoori.” I pause and stare blankly at my hosts. Thankfully, being Brummie, I can navigate my way around a Indian restaurant menu. Got help a person who does need assistance at Shamrat. What was I expecting? Given the reviews, a lot, but I do need to lower my expectations in this part of the world. BIRMINGHAM truly is the Mecca of the best Indian food in the U.K. Whereever else in the UK I eat, I should ready myself for disappointment. Rant aside, the food wasn’t that bad. The stuffed pepper with fish starter was surprisingly tasty. The prawn piri-piri main was beautifully presented, sumptuous, but really firey. A good Indian by Kent standards, but if you want the best, get on a few trains and enjoy inspirational Indian food of Birmingham. Amen.

A lovely meal here tonight. I used to be a regular but haven't been for years for one reason or another. Nothing has changed, the restaurant is cosy, staff are all extremely friendly and attentive and the food is awesome. I asked for a special dish not on the menu and they did it without question. I will be returning again very soon.

We've been there already a couple of times and we were never disappointed. The dishes are typical and very tasty; service is excellent (hot towels at the end of the meal even!); the biggest issue is to choose what you gonna eat. I definitely recommand this place id you like spicy food!

I love curry and Shamrat is amongst the best Indian Restaurants around. Service is excellent and attentive. We usually spend a bit more here - but mainly down to temptation (such as the Irish Coffee to finish).

Father's day at Shamrat with the children was amazing. Children could not stop laughing, the service and food was fantastic and at great competitive prices. The manager is one of the best front of house maitres I have come across even when dining in India which I have visited on many a business occasion. Absolutely the best Indian restaurant in Maidstone and definitely worth a visit. 5 stars all round and we should know as we own Stone Court House.

First visit to The Shamrat. Great little restaurant. Great staff, relaxed atmosphere and the meal we had was delicious. Great flavours, nicely presented and extremely reasonable, bearing in mind how good the food was. Highly recommended.

The best Indian food i’ve had in a long time. Great quality ingredients and meat and cooked superbly. Staff service was also great, and complimentary baileys, hot refreshing clothes and chocolates are a nice touch. Decor in the restaurant also nice and a class above your usual Indian restaurant.

Had takeaway from here several times and the food is always excellent. As it says on the menu though Jal Frezi is very spicy would only recommend if you like it hot. Delivery is usually very good but also easy enough to collect from the restaurant have done both, usually always to the estimated time of delivery or collection.

We had a lovely lunch (31/05/23). Staff were very helpful and friendly, 4 people dining. Food was absolutely amazing, our starters of salmon del, tempura prawns and samosa (veg) were cooked to perfection and quite tasty. Our mains of chicken korma for 1 with plain rice was just the right heat for a 1st time diner, the duck and chicken jel frazie were quite heat hot, but totally enjoyed along with the lemon rice. Our dessert of banoffee and chocolate samosa finished off a lovely lunch. Brilliant portions too. Service was prompt, drink choices good. Waiters regularly checked to see if everything was okay with our courses. Must say the salad on the starters was absolutely fresh and very tasty (not like some establishments where they use pre-packed salad leaves yuk). Heated lemon towel a good addition after mains to freshen up our hands. Would I recommend dining here? Absolutely 💯 I would. Thank you everyone on duty on our visit 💯 Service from you all. Only gave 3 stars for atmosphere as we were the only diners for lunch. Can imagine a 4/5 star rating if busy, as our friends son regularly dines here and he recommended that we booked in advance due to how busy they normally are when he visits in the evening. Very glad he recommended dining here. The offer of a drink at the end of meal was very much appreciated but sadly we were driving so had to decline.

I’m not sure what these guys do to their food - whether they have some kind of magic elixir or something but it is incredible. Best Indian I have ever eaten by a million miles. It is a little bit pricier than your average but make no mistake the quality of food is one thousand percent worth it. Service is brilliant too - staff very friendly and accommodating and the restaurant is immaculately clean. I never want to go anywhere else for an Indian.

Possibly the best curry I have had in years. Chicken was succulent, chili rice was a new one on me and was lovely and the desert menu was excellent. Will be back soon.

  • 4/5 Martin V. 1 year ago on Google
It's on a busy road and the nearest parking is one of the paid parking spots around the corner. I arrived at about 7:30 pm and the restaurant was extremely busy. If you are going for a quiet place to have a chat with someone - forget it. The tables are very close to each other and it feels rammed. The food was nice and my pathia came hotter than hot. The toilets are upstairs and feel very shabby and and dated, almost dirty for a place that charges prices like that for curry. Staff were nice and polite. I probably would go back but it wouldn't be my first choice.

Lovely food, justifiable price. The atmosphere was lovely until the building filled out - the tables are WAY too close together making conversations a shouting match Can only recommend when it's not busy.

Don’t normally do a Saturday and it was as expected extremely busy , but the welcome was as warm as ever and the quality of the food didn’t disappoint . We bought friends that had never been before and they were able to see first hand why we rave about it so much .

Food is good but they are always running very late. Deliveries are always late, takeaways are always late (double the time they tell you) and booked tables are always very late. I have waited up to 45minutes for my booked table before.

  • 5/5 Paul W. 4 years ago on Google
Just about eveything has changed since I last ate at the Shamrat. The menu has been revamped, the decor has been updated, there is more choice and some new dishes to try that I haven't seen elsewhere (the brogobi bhaji and palak chicken were particularly tasty). One thing that hasn't changed is the service, which is, and has always been, attentive and extremely polite. Prices are very slightly higher than the competition, but given that the food was so good, it feels justified. Recommended!

I live in Scotland and came down to Maidstone for the night and saw the great reviews online for the Shamrat, so thought we would give it a try. We were not disappointed! One of the best curries I have had in a very long time, service was quick and the staff were so welcoming and friendly. Will definitely be back if in the area again
