Wow! The dhaba chicken was on another level. This is a very cute restaurant in Newtown, serving North Indian fare..Kadahi Chicken, Chicken sweet corn soup, Lahsooni Methi Paneer were all good but the star is Dhaba Chicken. Loved it!

Last two years we have been at Guru take out and in restaurants food and service was five star. Thinking we get the same we went for dinner completely disappointed on service and food. This is why: Promptly seated served drinks and appetizers that was only good part. For food we had to wait long time was serve lukewarm and most of them looked like came out of cans or frozen entry. All of them were watered down. Order bread basket with food never came to table until we were all finish eating dinners. No apology. During dining no one came to check if we need anything no refills on water or drink. Did not pick used dishes. Had to wait for check got surprise 20% mandatory tip. Had to find cashier to pay the bill was ask do you want to add tip. I think whole thing was messed up run by high school kids. Problem could be they have new owners or lost the chef. They do know how to bring star rating from 5 to 0. Will go again - NEVER

I’ll put it on the side as a local gem due to we don’t have as many India restaurants around. Servise is great but most important is food, I go to the restaurants to try new food, to get new expertise, to feel new tastes and this restaurant delivers. Every single appetizer that I tried gave absolutely something new that I never experienced before plus menu is huge, you can go there 20 times order absolutely new dishes. In addition huge vegetarian selection. Highly recommended.

The food is really good here. Review is based on pricing vs portion& food quality. Please disregard the bad reviews. I have dined in and ordered takeout from Guru's more than 20 times, and loved the food every single time. The food is also very authentic (to me, at least). I absolutely love the Lamb Makhani. The rice that comes with it is also very fragrant, very delicious. In December, I tried to dine in here but was turned away due to an overwhelming number of Grubhub orders, and only a few kitchen staff (but there were at least 4 host/hostess at the main entrance), so I didn't understand that. I felt bad that the bartenders and waiters/waitresses on that evening were just looking at the long line of Grubhub people while they did not get to earn tips from dine-in customers who were turned away. I wrote an email to suggest prioritizing dine-in customers & phone order customers over Grubhub customers (Grubhub deliveries eat into restaurant profits), and while i did not get a reply, I think the restaurant took my suggestions. When I popped in for dinner 2 days ago, the restaurant was able to accommodate. I noticed at least 12 other dine in customers on the same evening. **Please also disregard earlier reviews pertaining to Grubhub because those reviews are not about the quality of the food. Reviews pertaining to Grubhub should be posted on the Grubhub app. Please also observe that some of the 1star bad reviews written by nameless accounts may be fake reviews, and i suspect that those are written by competitors. (The reason i suspect so is because I have tried many Indian restaurant in Bucks county. In my opinion, Guru's is the best in Bucks county while other restaurants price higher for the either the same/less quality)

Went here expecting to have lunch, but it turned out there was no wait staff. I'd had Guru's via DoorDash once, so was really interested in eating in the restaurant. Offered to sit at the bar, which the owner was kind enough to agree upon. Not to discredit DoorDash, but the food was absolutely amazing right out of the kitchen. I liked it as take out, but this was significantly better. I had Tikka Masala with lamb and Kashmiri Naan. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys lamb. The Tikka Masala is also wonderful with chicken. Special shout out to the owner who was working essentially alone and let me indulge in eating at the bar. I am a big proponent of supporting local/small business and this place did not disappoint.

We picked this place on a whim n’ ratings and it didn’t disappoint - the maharaja, maharani and saffron martini were a good start, spinach chaat was light and tasty, chili paneer was good, and avocado chaat was creative. The entree Nawaabi Paneer was excellent with methi gravy alongside jeera rice and a sumptuous breadbasket. Ras malai, with house made paneer, rounded it off perfectly - we ate outside on a cool cloudy day, Sandesh took good care of us and his recommendations were perfect, excellent experience all round!

Guru’s is a great restaurant. I was here with a group of 18 people including kids. Usually not all restaurants accept this big groups. They were kind enough to accept same day booking. The food was great. We tried Paneer tikka (delicious), Vegetarian sampler (ordered 3 and they missed 1) and Gobi manchurian (was a little sweet). They all tasted good. For main course we tried Methi Paneer (5/5), Dal tadka, Paneer Makhni, and Malai Kofta. We also ordered bread basket. Chilli garlic naan was amazing. Everything tasted good. The service was not upto the mark. The waiters who were serving joined the same day and didn’t know what food they were serving. They had to call chef and it was confusing for a while. But hey we were cool with that. Just wish they had more help that day. Coming to drinks, they tasted average. The server was making the drinks while serving everyone. So wouldn’t complain on that. I would love to come back again with a smaller group to try other menu items and review them again. Location-5/5 Food- 4/5 Service- 2/5 Drinks- 2/5

We LOVE Guru’s. They have been so amazing to myself and my family, and not to mention literally the BEST Indian cuisine I’ve ever had, far and wide! It’s so fresh, they make everything from scratch! We love Guru’s so much we even had them cater our wedding. People are STILL raving about the food months later!!!

Ordered takeout today and spoke with Priya to give her my order. First off I wanted to say that Priya’s personality was delightful and she answered all my questions making the ordering process so easy. I ordered their Malai Kofta, Paneer Lachha, and Kadai Chicken. The quantity of food was perfect and Priya was nice to thrown in complementary Daal tadka and onion pakora. The aroma of the food made me feel like I was roaming the streets of Amritsar. The taste of the food was exceptional as well. Perfectly spiced, leaving each bite taste even more enjoyable! If you have not been to Gurus you need to check them out! They have really nice outdoor dining and the indoor dining is really large as well! Thank you for making our dinner enjoyable! 😊

Service and food were awesome. They have different spice levels, so it is no problem if you don't like spicy food. It is also a good place to eat, if you have dietary restrictions. There are various vegetarian as well as some vegan options. The menue clearly marks relevant product ingredients for allergics (e.g. milk).

We went there for dinner, we ordered chicken seekh kebab and lasooni gobi in appetizers. Taste of chicken seekh kebab was fine but they were stretchy and lasooni gobi was like gobi manchurian only. In entree we had, dhaba chicken and dal tadka, dhaba chicken was good but dal tadka was nothing like dal tadka and average in taste. Rice which came with entree were rubbery, not good quality. Also, we ordered Indian salad which had onion and green chillies and they were not fresh. Chillies were turning yellow. Their service was good and place is nice. Overall, I would not recommend this place as I believe food is not worth it.

Wow What a fantastic experience! Every dish was wonderful And they are beyond accommodating! Our family likes different levels of spice and they did exactly what we asked them to do with no issues The brown sugar naan is beyond amazing as is the shrimp korma What a wonderful flavor The server made us feel like we were the only table there! I recently went here for an anniversary dinner and then took my family. I have never seen cocktails like these and I got to have a Scotch that I haven't had since I visited Scotland. The food was absolutely delicious and the ability to change the spice levels made everyone in our party happy and full. We had a great time and even got to meet the chef/owner.

The ambiance and staff were both warm and inviting, but the lunch buffet was underwhelming. They feature a broad spread including fresh vegetables, chutneys, chaat, and vegetarian and meat dishes. However, everything lacks the aroma and spice of true Desi food. This may appeal to those who want to try Indian cuisine but can’t tolerate spice. For example, there were a few families with young kids, and the value for them was apparent. Ultimately, if you’re in search of truly delicious, authentic Indian food keep looking.

I can't say it enough about how good the food was here and the service. I'm already planning on what I'm going to get next. We got the Chicken Tikka Masada, shrimp tandoori, garlic Naan bread and Somosas and it was all amazing.

This food was nothing short of amazing. I got chicken korma and butter chicken (Makhani). Perfectly tender chicken and top notch sauce.

A prime spot location. Serving good North Indian cuisine, there isn't a lot of choices in the menu but many enough to have a good meal with great wine choices. It's a quiet place out of the mainstream Indian places which is what I found unusual but not unwelcome. Great work people! But please do re-edit the menu cards just as to make two of them fit on a single table, also the font probably. This was the BEST dinner I have had in a very long time! I am vegan, but it doesn’t matter if you are or not, this food and service will blow you out of the water! Every bit of seasoning and every ingredient in the food was truly made with love and to call it perfect is an understatement! The service could not have been any nicer, you truly feel welcomed and as though they honest and truly care about every single customer that respects what they do! Guru has changed my entire perspective as to what an Indian restaurant or any restaurant for that matter should be like. The welcoming atmosphere, the wonderful ambiance, the marvelous and passionate staff, and the excellent food make each trip here a soul warming experience. Choose literally anything off the menu and it will be catered to your taste. It will be enhanced for your satisfaction. It will be something unique and inviting at the same time. Definitely try one of the soups with your appetizer and always ask their recommendations. The knowledgeable staff really has a true passion for the food and place. Guru is more than an Indian restaurant. It's a temple combined with a coffee shop mixed into a fine dining restaurant. This will be my forever go to place in Bucks County.

How have I not submitted a review already? The food is wonderful. The staff goes above and beyond. I have never had a bad meal here. It is a delightful restaurant. If you haven't tried it you are truly missing out!

We have been going to Guru's for about two or three years now, and it is always wonderful. The food is delicious and the staff truly goes above and beyond! They go out of their way to make dining in (and out) the best experience possible. If you are visiting Newtown, or are a resident and just haven't tried it yet, you should definitely check it out!

Really good indian food compared to other options around. Very nice ambiance. They customized my order with no onion and no garlic and still the taste was really nice. Spice level is like india only, so don’t ask for extra spicy though you like spicy food.

I'm very picky about my Indian food, and Guru's is always top notch in terms of flavor, ingredient quality, attention to detail and overall execution. The chef/owner is also very creative, outgoing and friendly, and his culinary inventions are great.

Best restaurant ever! I have eaten from here more times than I can count, and yet I have never had even a single bad experience. The staff are the kindest and most thoughtful people you will meet! The food is absolutely delightful, by far the best Indian food I have ever tried. I have tried nearly all of the vegetarian options and each one has been fantastic every time. If you are considering eating here and can’t decide— take this as a sign to go for it!!

Food was excellent and a good amount was served. We had enough for two nights. Service was also very good. App had a nice feature asking how spicy.

We order from here for the first time today and we were not disappointed! The food was fresh and delicious. The cashier was super friendly and that also goes a long way as well when ordering and picking up food. We have enjoyed the chicken Makhani and the Lamb Saag, mint chutney and the butter naan. The Vegetable Pakora is incredible as is Paneer Lacha (which is my new favorite!). And we still have samosa to eat. Can I also brag on the rice for a minute too? I mean you would think “rice is rice”, but it’s not! I was blown away by the deliciousness that we brought home today from Gurus.

Delicious food served attractively with excellent service. Outdoor seating is available. I especially loved the seasonal offerings. A fall twist on Saag passenger and Lamb Curry made for an overall delightful dining experience. I wish I lived closer!!

The customer service is constantly rapid, awesome ambience, nice employees. Will come back again when I arrive here.

Absolutely love Guru’s! Great food, not too spicy (if ordering mild), and they even have Gluten-free naan! Just ask them to make everything gluten free and they will make special accommodations and include it on the itemized receipt. Paneer Tika Masala is delicious!

Ive never gotten something from here that i didnt like, everything is delicious. Lots of vegi options too. Garlic cheese naan is magical.

The food is mostly very tasty. I get regular takeouts from here and some of their dishes like fish achari tastes really good. However the quantities are always very small. The biriyani is so expensive and comes in a small box. Also the desserts are rip off. $8 gulabjamun and kheer must be made of gold. The rice they sent with curries also very less in quantity. Considering the price they are charging Guru should increase their pack size so that customers doesn’t feel as if they were ripped off. The service is pretty good and the delivery is mostly on time.

After recently moving to this area I decided to try Guru's. The main's were well prepared and portions were generous. Why I deducted 1 star is because the naan was very doughy and thick unlike the lighter flakier variety that I prefer. Additionally, the vegetable samosa's had a good taste but also had an extremely thick wrapper which ultimately was undercooked on the interior. I will be sure to visit Guru's again in the future.

Food was really tasty here the both time we visited! We opted for a white meat tandoor chicken dish and 3 vegetable sides, plus garlic Naan (no butter.) - Delicious!

The food wasn’t that great and the service terrible. No water refills the entire time we dined. They came to check up on us a max of 2x.

One of our new favorite restaurants. Everything we've ever had from here is expertly prepared and delicious. The mixed drinks are a bit on the sweet side, but they have lots of other options if that's not your speed. It's great to have a wonderful Indian place nearby. Leftovers, which we always have, are delicious the next day.

I’ve been going to Gurus for many years now. Way before they had their current big restaurant on Sycamore Street! Back when they had a tiny little place off the beaten path. The food here is outstanding. Made with a great deal of finesse, professionalism, and just plain love. Highly, highly recommend it. Particularly if you love good Indian food.

I love coming here. The staff is so sweet and friendly. With the labor shortage of restaurant staff lately, I really appreciate how hard they must be working when it gets busy here. Feels like a real family restaurant. Food is always cooked perfectly and delicious. I can’t say enough how sweet they are and how happy I am we have them in newtown! One of the few really good places to eat in town.

Guru’s was always a go to spot when we wanted a break from cooking and we were never disappointed - exceptional recipes combined with quality ingredients and accurately filling our order made us repeat customers. Last night was my first opportunity to dine in. Our server, Max, was polite, courteous and attentive. Specialty drinks ordered from the bar were fantastic and I can appreciate that Guru’s is reinvesting in their business as was evident by a new smoker to add that extra touch to their East India drink, among others I’m sure. Thanks for a great night out and for everything you bring the community!

Really cozy atmosphere! Attentive servers, big thanks to Anjali for making me feel welcomed. Even gave me some samosas on the house. :) Restroom was clean and tidy as well. Huge menu, definitely recommending if you're new to Indian cuisine. Lastly, of course the food was delicious and had great portioning. Thank you Guru's!

This place is AMAZING!... Every time I order something I am always happy with it. I order something new every time and always LOVE IT! The food is very consistent, always GREAT! I would highly recommend this place. I always tell people, I feel like my Indian grandmother is coming out and serving me her food, it feels like great home cooking. I really just can't say enough about Guru's... The people are great, the food is Great, nice place... No complaints, maybe just that too many people know about them 😄

What a great experience. When me and my wife walked in we were greeted by Naomi, the general manager. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and most importantly kind and patient. Our server, Tom, was amazing he answered all of our questions about what we were interested in and made it easy for us to order. The food came out fast and hot. It was absolutely delicious. I recommend getting the bread basket, you can never have enough naan.

Stopped by this place on a whim. A cute restaurant on the corner with plenty of parking. There were only about three other tables seated, so the place was fairly quiet. There's a nice bar area and plenty of tables, so I can see it being lively on a Saturday night. The food was excellent. If you enjoy Indian food, you should definitely give them a try! I don't think you will be disappointed. My only two criticisms would be that the handicap entrance is locked and blocked by a table. So, if you show up with someone in a wheelchair, I'm not sure how you would get in. It is also the first entrance you see if coming in from the street. The main entrance, which is in the back with the parking lot, was not obvious. Also, the women's restroom has two stalls. The handicap stall is fine, but the other stall is so tiny that when you sit, your knees hit the door and elbows hit the side walls 😂

Best Indian food I've ever had! I've been here quite a few times and they consistently deliver a great dining experience. The food is great and the staff is so helpful and patient. If weather permits, try to sit outside, I find that to be a nicer ambience than sitting inside. Oh, and get the naan bread... any naan! Delish.

My husband and I came here after hearing about it from our neighbors. He got the kadai (after our amazing server tim recommended it) and I got the korma. It was absolutely amazing! We also got the garlic butter naan (also recommended) and it was just as delicious! Our server was super helpful and friendly. As we were eating we were talking about how this is our new favorite place.

Stopped in for dinner last night. I'm not the greatest with trying new food. This was my first time trying Indian food. Had the garlic shrimp, shrimp tikka masala, garlic naan, and a future fashioned. Both were excellent! Nothing was left over by the time I was done. Great atmosphere and service. No photos, was too hungry. Will definitely dine here again.

What a lovely place! From the warm ambience making you feel like you are in someone s home, to the very welcoming and lovely staff of the restaurant to back that ambience up, the food is as if the cherry on the cake. The food was fantastic, very flavourful, and of great quality. Will love to go back as soon as I find the chance.
