By far the worst experience I had. We asked the food to be packed and had specifically told the waiter to keep the non-veg separate from veg food. I warm up the food and begin eating, only to realise that I ate non-veg food!! Seriously? I was told by the manager he will give me my money back. It then took 3 weeks waiting before I realised no refund was processed. I then speak to the owner by the name Mr J and ask to give my money back. The owner got bit cheeky telling me that he his doing me a favour and he normally wouldn't give 'free money'. I'm sorry but when you are a vegetarian and get served non-veg and the restaurant accept that they messed up your order, apparently they are doing you a 'favour' if you ask for your money back. It is a slap on any restaurant to not take customers diatry requirement into account. They should be happy I didn't post this on DevonLive. Such horrible customer service had left a bitter experience in the end. Will not recommend !!!!

Fantastic dinner for too at Denley’s. Always such a warm welcome upon arrival and despite not having a reservation, they were able to accommodate us. Definitely recommend booking in advance. Can highly recommend the chef’s specialities. The tamarind dish was divine! They have a good selection to suit all tastes with exquisite mild dishes and some spicy sounding ones for the more adventurous. We really enjoyed our meal and look forward to coming back again soon.

Quick search on Google Maps and found this place with very good reviews so decided to visit and they were definitely not wrong. Everything about this place is fantastic from the nice decor to the very friendly staff and most importantly the awesome food. Both my work mate and I thoroughly enjoyed it and if we are ever working around here again we will most definitely return.

Think I’ll have to look for another curry house. Takeaway tonight was bland and insipid. Small portions for the money and the naan breads looked and tasted like they were made yesterday. Shame really as in the past they’ve been quite good but tonight didn’t impress at all. I don’t feel they’re value for money on tonight’s showing.

I have been enjoying Indian Food for 55+ years. I travel all over the UK and usually have an Indian meal at least once a week. I stopped off at Denley's for the first time. I can honestly say out of the hundreds of different establishments that I've eaten Indian food at, this without doubt The Best. The food was beautifully presented and the Taste, God knows what miracle the chef performed but it was fantastic. Fresh herbs and spices, good portions I was overwhelmed and such excellent quality.

Great food, but couldn’t wait to get rid of us as the next guests were waiting to be seated. Evening felt rushed and not at all relaxing. Ask if they are very busy or not before booking as you will be hurried if they are.

Many years since I've been here and it has changed hands so wasn't sure what to expect. We had an amazing meal, couldn't fault it in any way, really fresh, authentic, flavoursome food and great service. Highly recommended it.

I love my Indian food to have lots of flavour and not be spicy or hot, I visited for the 1st time as it was recommended by a work colleague, I decided to go for the chicken tiger plain rice and a paswari nan, the tiger was very lovely full of a friuty flavor, it did have a little spice to it but I really enjoyed it and like I said before I do not eat spicy food, the nan was perfectly cooked, service was very good with the staff being very friendly, the prices were a little pricey compared to back home, the say a Chicken Korma being £13.95 compared to around £8 back home, highly recommend

Our first visit, an upmarket Indian restaurant with nicely presented and tasty food. If I could change anything it would be the music. After decades of Indian food in the UK, surely we don't need to listen to the music to put us in the mood. It somehow cheapened what is otherwise a classy restaurant.

Lovely venue and very friendly and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was mixed, though. The bhindi bhaji was rather tasteless and the tarka dal was just a dal without the tarka topping. It was nice enough but less than I expected. The biggest disappointment was the sticky toffee pudding, which simply wasn't anything of the sort. It was a chocolate sponge cake with chocolate sauce. No toffee sauce. No caramel. Nothing like we expected from the menu. We didn't eat it and we weren't charged for it, which was nice. Everything else was excellent.

Fantasic gluten free currys, being a ceoliac always concerned about eating out, was given confidents they knew what had gluten and what didnt and even gave a steer on what was safe through cooking methods. No sideeffects and was awesome to share in a takeaway with my family

I went here as part of a large group celebrating a colleagues leaving do. The service from the staff here was very good, very friendly and welcoming. The food was incredible. Very tasty. I had the chicken passanda with a cheese naan. Looking around at the others on my table, there were many empty plates in the end.

One of the best Indian takeaways in Devon. The flavours always taste fresh and fragrant. Lots of choice, including vegetarian options. Service is always impeccable. All the staff are always so polite, and they all work as a team. Very efficient. My one criticism is that they use a lot of single-use plastic in their takeaways. I wish they'd make the swap to using paper based or compostable containers. There are so many great products available now, there really is no reason not to switch. I'd happily pay another £1 or so on my order if needed. If dining in, avoid sitting at the two tables near the main entrance, on busy nights there are a lot of people queuing for takeaways and it gets very crowded. You'll have people standing all around you.

  • 5/5 Susan K. 4 years ago on Google
Besides the fact that this one of the only places that serves food in Topsham after 10.00pm, the takeaway menu is delicious. I have used them twice now for biryani dishes and tandoori chicken and both have been really tasty. The service is quick and extremely polite and the food remains hot when you get it home. The restaurant has a modern look and a lovely atmosphere so we will definitely give a dine in experience a go in the near future.

  • 3/5 Jack S. 1 year ago on Google
The food was very good. The lamb was quite tender and the flavours/heat from the curry was exactly what I was looking for. However the reason for my 3 star review is because I ordered online to collect and chose 6:55PM. I received an automatic email straight after stating it will be ready to collect at 7:15PM. I was a bit confused as it gave me the option for 6:55 so I called and was told by the staff that it will be 7:15. I let this slide as I assumed they were very busy with it being a Saturday evening. I arrived at exactly 7:15PM and paid for my order and was asked to wait by the bar. I was waiting for 20 minutes and this was only because I chased the order up twice! I believe it would of been longer if I didn't do this. The staff were friendly and offered me a free drink while I waited, I got a sense they were trying to "keep me sweet" as the annoyed look on my face was clearly obvious to them. I wanted my order, not a drink. In the end I got home and ate my food nearly an hour later than expected. If you aren't able to keep up with online orders aswell as keeping the restaurant customers happy. Don't do it!! And don't allow us to choose a time if you aren't able to stick to it. Focus on the quality not the quantity. I would like to say I would eat here again but the thought of having to sit and wait in a busy restaurant with lots of people around puts me off.

Denleys was totally as per the expectations. The food, highlighted by the chicken biryani and chat, was truly delightful. The staff's politeness and helpfulness added to the positive experience. The ambience complemented the overall enjoyment, creating a pleasant dining atmosphere. A fantastic choice for those seeking a delicious blend of flavours in a welcoming setting.

I had almost given up hope of finding a decent Indian in Devon; now we drive up from Exmouth once a week for a take away and sit down at least once a month. Simply the best food, atmosphere, and service; a little dearer than your average, but absolutely miles ahead. Highly recommended and worth the journey.

The food was delicious! I contacted Denley's about organising a big banquet lunch at work and even though they don't do lunch the management team was kind enough to help put things together and deliver everything to us at the time I requested. Worth the price, great customer service and again.. the food was great!

Such a shame, we have always had nice meals here as an eat in. Due to covid we did our first take away. I was not impressed with there take away at all. The rice was the best part. Unfortunatly the king praws were over cooked and rubbery. We didn't eat all our dinner due to this which was upsetting. Such a shame but I will not go for a take away again...

The food here is good. The wine not so much and expensive for what it is, but that's the only minus. Finding genuinely good Indian food (as we call what is mostly a Pakistan and Kashmiri quisine) is hard in this part of the country. But if that's what you want, try here (albeit for westernized version, of course)

NOT DOING EAT OUT TO HELP OUT We travelled 30 mins to Denley’s as we saw that they were advertising Eat Out to Help Out on their social media, but this was sadly false. Instead they gave us 20% off our bill for food and drink, but the meal still cost 5 of us £30 more than anticipated. Regardless it was a delicious meal with very friendly service.

Great food, amazing service. It was a busy Saturday night, we were contacted twice to reassure us of our order and update delivery. Something which is overlooked by most delivery services when they get busy. All you want is “I’m sorry but we are busy and we haven’t forgotten you” All of this was still within 1 hour of placing the order. First class, personal service, thank you.

Totally let themselves down on NYE. Ordered a take out and were told to collect in 2 hours. Arrived 2 hours later to be told they were running half hour late. Finally got our food an hour and ten later. Be honest with your customers then they have the opportunity to cancel the order particularly on a night like NYE when most people (including us) have made plans. I ended up not even seeing the new year in I was so disgruntled! They were super busy and should have put a cap on the amount of take out orders they accepted as they just couldn't cope.

This was the first time I've ever been to an Indian restaurant. We went with friends from overseas. I was concerned about the food being too hot for my taste. But it was absolutely perfect. Right from poppadoms, to the onion bhajis to the curry and desert. Some of the tastiest food I've ever tasted. Service was great with a smile and a great sense of humour. Would recommend to anyone. We'll certainly be going again.
