DO NOT PARK IN THE WHOLE FOODS PARKING GARAGE NEARBY. THEY WILL NOT HONOR YOUR VALIDATION FROM THE RESTAURANT AS ADVERTISED. Now, into the restaurant itself. The service was prompt and courteous. The food was good. But, if I'm being honest we have had just as good at any Indian restaurant I've been to. My wife and I were hoping for something truly Indian fusion. At $70 (with tip) for shrimp moilee with rice and chicken korma with rice, plus an order of naan and two iced teas... it does rate as the most expensive Indian food we've eaten. Overall, we were a bit let-down. That's not to say we didn't enjoy our meal, but it definitely was nothing special and we feel no need to return. The icing on the cake was when we were warned before leaving about a possibility of the parking validation not working. She advised we press the Help button and we weren't to pay more than $12. Well, the parking garage refused to honor the validation so we got stuck with a $32 parking fee. So, in reality it was a $102 meal of typical Indian fare.

I travel often all over the world, Indian food is one of those that I am always cautious of trying however it had been a few weeks and I had a craving. The food is not only an beautifully executed but the food is truly an experience. The service was honestly the best I have ever experienced Dioela the server was not only a great server but a beautiful human outside and in. She did not only make the experience worth wild but warmed our souls with her smile. Her kindness and ability to just bring joy to a table is uniquely her own. Just a gem all around worth the trip from anywhere

I've been wanting to eat here for quite some time. We parked in the parking lot behind the building at first and then I saw the sign to park in Whole Foods which was good because it was just next door and was free as opposed to ummm $39 for the paid parking lot. ๐Ÿ˜ณ There was street parking but nothing available. I needed a few things from Whole Foods anyways so they validated our parking ticket and we parked for free. We did not have a reservation. We came spontaneously after church. It wasn't even half full so we didn't think there would be an issue getting seated. However, the host said he was expecting 5 tables in the next 10 minutes and only had 2 servers so we opted to sit at the bar. Bartender was nice and he made me a delicious, light and fruity, but not sweet or strong tasting, Blueberry Field champagne drink. I ordered the Tandoori Chicken Poutine. Guys, it was amazing! Crispy fries topped with yummy chicken and tandoori sauce with gooey cheese on top. So so delicious. My husband ordered the Ginger Garlic Shrimp Vindaloo. It had a great spice to it and the shrimps were huge. Very enjoyable meal! The bartender Mac was great too.

This is a joke of a restuarant. If I could give it 0 stars, I would. The food was BLAND, tiny portions, over priced, menu items made no sense and just an all around strange menu and experience. My food came out cold and the sauces were quite literally watered down. The only good thing I can say about this establishment is that the atmosphere was nice. If you are wanting good Indian food, ESPECIALLY at a fair price, please- go elsewhere. This food was extremely disappointing.

This used to be one of my favorite fusion Indian restaurant in Nashville and I had rated it 5/5 earlier. After my recent visit there however, I was slightly underwhelmed due to the changes in the menu. Thereโ€™re a ton of items I used to enjoy eating that were not available. The lunch menu does have limited options available, but even the dinner menu didnโ€™t have it. For many years, I used to frequent this place with a big smile on my face and now Iโ€™m less excited about going there again. I hope they update their menu again. That being said, the food is always of great quality and the creativity is on point. Tandoori Poutine has been a classic on the menu forever and always stays there. I love their seasonal chaat rotation. Cocktails are good. Portion size is not bad for a restaurant of this kind. Parking is a bit tricky in that area during peak hours or weekends however you should find nearby free street parking with somewhat difficulty on weekdays. Highly recommend!

Extremely disappointing. I was looking forward to trying this place as I am a big fan of chef Chauhan. We ordered a number of different dishes. The chicken tills masala lacked flavour. I mean I did not expect it to spicy but have you heard of salt? The so called naan was very dry and tasted like stale bread. And the cherry on top was that all the dishes were actually cold and we had to ask them to heat them up.

This was my second visit. The fist was about 4 years ago. What stood out then was how helpful the server was to one (me) who doesn't always enjoy Indian food. The server Monday night could not have been less interested in this even though I pointed it out immediately. His response was "oh I give everyone the same advise on what to order." Therein was the problem. He didn't listen to me. His casual attention all night to a fairly expensive dinner during a holiday week was so very disappointing. To be fair, my husband loved his meal. My daughter was just ok with hers. She was disappointed in the food not the overall experience. I'll probably try one more time when she comes back to town in the summer. If it's no better than this time, that will be our last visit.

Well..... I suggest the leadership team read the book "Good To Great" by Jim Collins. Parking is challenging, allow extra time. Don't bring your conservative grandmother here. Drink/ bar pricing structure can be improved. Come here for the Food- it's worth a trip if you are in the area.

We eat at a lot of Indian in a lot of cities, and this is some of the very best we've ever had. The service is first rate. The space is pleasant and cheerful. We really enjoyed ourselves. But be warned: The serving sizes on everything are HUGE ! Park in the Whole Foods Parking lot and get your ticket stamped for 1/2 price parking.

Shoot! Really had high hopes for this place. First, the service was excellent. As for the food, we were underwhelmed. The masala was unfortunately basic. It was adequate, but for $20, had wished it to be more inspired. The taco was the highlight. The Naan tied it together. They charbroiled the bread very well. Overall, we found it expensive and the dishes less vibrant than we had hoped, especially at their rates.

Went to Chauhan on a Sunday afternoon with a couple friends. The food was excellent. Tasty and well prepared. While this is not an authentic Indian restaurant it does a great fusion. I think of a beautiful melody between Southern Soul food with modern but authentic Indian twist. Keep up the good food!

Iโ€™ve been meaning to express how in love I was with this restaurant when family members took my husband and I there awhile back. EVERYTHING was fantastic, including the cocktails and ambiance. There were also plenty of options for my diet restrictions which was even more appreciated. My husband and I enjoyed every bite. I canโ€™t wait to visit Nashville again and bring some family members to experience all the delicious food when we come back to visit. This will be our first stop!

Celebrity, Chef-Owned restaurant, one of 4 amazing restaurants in Nashville. This restaurant offers an ever-changing menu with vegetarian options available, fun cocktails, and has colorful ambiance. There is a fun peacock ๐Ÿฆš mural right outside the restaurant and more murals around the area. This restaurant is located next to Mockingbird and Tansuo, two other highly recommended restaurants to try! There is street parking as well as a paid parking lots around the corners.

Wow!! The food here is absolutely amazing!! Brought the family here for my momโ€™s birthday and we ate like kings!! Started out with Calamari, Whipped Paneer, Nashville Hot Chicken Pakoras. So so good!! For dinner we had Tandoori Chicken, Tamarind Lamb Chops, and the Hanger Steak. The hangar steak was ok, a little to charred but everything else was absolutely fantastic! We really loved it and canโ€™t wait to come back!

If u have Indian restaurant u have to represent India and its taste..which u don't. Pani puri is made with rice which feels like u r eating rice cakes. Not authentic. Made it all not spicy and with no masala for Americans.. But Americans do love to try new cusine and authentic recepices. So why not make it good impression of Indian food. Won't forget to mention prices were way to higher than quality of food.

Definitely not the Indian restaurants you may be used to. This is a fantastic twist and modern flair to Indian food. Excellent taste, friendly staff, clean facility with casual ambiance. Menu is simple and creative. We had lamb nachos, tandoori chicken, veggie korma, craft beer and desserts. Everything was yummy.

I give it five stars because everything tasted amazing. The service was absolutely excellent. The Mac and cheese and poutine were definitely highlights of the entire meal. The steak was a good cut and cooked to absolute perfection. Worth the trip and a place I would dine in again.

We loved this place. They have a lot of traditional Indian dishes to choose from, but a lot of fun and unique menu items. We tried the Poutine and the Lamb Nachos and both were amazing and full of flavor.

Great spot to eat. Construction in the area can make it a little unpleasant to visit, but I'm glad we made it through. We've always wanted to try chef Maneet's food after seeing her on so many Food Network shows, and this was a perfect opportunity, and she did not disappoint. The flavors were so balanced and not to overpowering. It almost tasted like an India/Thai fusion. We can't wait to try her other restaurants

We are in Nashville for a 4 day getaway for our anniversary. I wanted some place special for our anniversary night dinner and was excited to make reservations at Maneet Chauhanโ€™s restaurant; it was so well rated, the menu looked very creative, and we are big fans of Maneet from watching her on the cooking shows. We arrived 10 minutes early, and were seated promptly. I had noted that we were celebrating an anniversary on the Opentable reservation, and the hostess was kind enough to wish us. The waiter showed up promptly to take our drink orders, and was helpful in guiding us on what to order. We ordered the Golgappa shots, and the cauliflower pakoras for appetizers. Both were very good. We asked for the tamarind lamb chops, dal makhani, papadam, and a garlic parmesan naan for dinner. With the protein, you have to choose a curry, and we chose vindaloo. Here is where the disappointment set in. As you can see from the photos, the papad was burnt. The naan came cold, and we asked for it to be replaced, which they did promptly. The replacement was barely lukewarm. We (of Indian origin) have had much better naans at hole in the wall Indian places. There is no excuse for sending out burnt papadams or cold naans. The lamb chops were fine, but I think itโ€™s a mistake to ask the customer to pair them with a curry. It may work for chicken or paneer, but $42 chops should have a chef make that decision. The vindaloo curry was OK but in my opinion not a good match with the chops and overpowered the flavors. The dal a was good, but again lukewarm. The check showed up promptly - no one cared to ask if we wanted desert. We were full, so no harm done. It was a Wednesday night, and the restaurant was hopping. Perhaps we walked in with too high expectations, but this wasnโ€™t the 44th anniversary dinner we had hoped for.. We were still happy to experience this place, and wish we could have met Maneet. We hear she is often at the restaurant, but she was not in tonight.

The worst restaurant I have ever been to in my entire life. I have worked in high class food business for over 20 years. No free parking, expect to pay +$12.00 for parking. No prices on the menu. Food is not Indian, portions are very small and very expensive, food taste is horrible. Waiter assigned a table for us and said he needs the table after 45 minutes. Bottle of beer is $18.00. We paid $100.00 for 2 persons and we left hungry. With all respect to those who left good reviews, they don't know what Indian food taste like. Avoid...

We were very excited for this place as it was our last stop in Nashville before heading home. We all enjoyed the gol guppa shot it was pretty good. The chicken was undercooked in two of the chicken dishes we ordered.๐Ÿ˜’ Also the service wasnโ€™t the very best either.๐Ÿ˜• We had high hopes from this place but turns out to be disappointing.

Parking was not easy to figure out, but once I found the lot and paid $5 to park for an hour (price jumps to $22 for 2 hours) my wonderful restaurant experience began. The restaurant looks amazing, the food was authentic, and the portion sizes had me stuffed and taking home lots of leftovers. I will definitely be coming back with friends next time.

I always wanted to enjoy Indian fine dining and one day during the Labor Day weekend visiting Nashville, we discovered Chauhan's Ale and Masala House. My actual rating is 4.5/5. This is a great fusion Indian place where you will see Indian flavors with a twist Here is the review based on what I experienced there: - Ambiance 5/5: Great to see a packed house even at 9 PM considering that it is at a corner that is easy to miss. The decor looks chic and fab and you immediately feel that you are in an upscale place. The place was so packed that we had to sit at the bar and were served food there along with a couple more people - Service 5/5: The service was too quick and perfect. In fact, it was so perfect that even though the place was brimming with people we received our food within 5-7 min. - Food 4/5: The food taste was great but I am giving it 4/5 just because of how soon the food was delivered making me think if it was premade and not fresh. Here is what we ordered: 1. Whipped Paneer: It has a creamy, hummus-like texture and is very different from what I know paneer to be. It was served with naan. We loved the taste 2. Nashville hot cauliflower: We had another great take on the cauliflower Manchurian that I love to get a Nashville twist. I loved the flavors and wished there was more. One request is to add a little more quantity since they were both amazing dishes that left you wanting more. - Value for money 4/5: As for all fine dining restaurants, the bill is on the heavier side but for the taste and experience you have of seeing Indian cuisine in a different light, this was a great experience. Overall a great experience, I would recommend this place to people who are afraid of trying Indian food since it is too spicy and even for people who love Indian food to try something innovative. I hope I can soon visit it again for a more sumptuous meal.

We had dinner on Thursday night and was not overly busy but steady flow. We ordered Gol guppy shots and quite good. I ordered shrimp moilee which was nice. My husband ordered chicken bhunna and flavor was good but hardly any heat. We also got the rainbow carrots as a side. I only gave a three because of the rice quantity. It was served in a small bowl with peas and tasty but so small I asked server to get more rice. Same size bowls came out for $10. Way too over priced for rice!

This is currently my new favorite restaurant in Tennessee. Iโ€™m still working my way around, but from the atmosphere to the food, the cocktails and the service, everything here was perfect!! The flavors were amazing and the presentation was beautiful. I got the vegetable korma and hubs got the chicken tikka masala and WHOA!! Perfection! The berry beet chaat (salad) was a great appetizer and I highly recommend the midnight chaat to drink. Perfect spot to dress up or go casual, very warm and inviting atmosphere! Thanks for a great night!!

Excellent food, great service & superb ambience. The fusion dishes are amazing. Being an Indian, I was quite surprised with the Indian + American cuisine being fused together and tasted so well. Try the Tikka masala appetizer and I promise it will never taste the same again.

Located in the Gulch, Maneet Chuahan's Indian fusion restaurant where Desi fare (pick a protein, pick a sauce) meets British, Mexican, Canadian and Southern cuisine. A group of us stopped in for lunch recently. Our table enjoyed the appetizers; the tandoori chicken poutine and the naan cheese bread (sorta like a spicy chz pizza). I ordered the Bhunna Chicken (spicy curry) with basmati rice. The texture of the curry seemed off to me plus the rice was not cooked evenly with some of it being crunchy. A couple of my friends really like this place, but I'm not sure the fusion concept works for me as I prefer more traditional Indian dishes like goat/lamb karahi, butter chicken, saag paneer, peshawari chole, biryani, etc.. Entrees $14-$34. For my money there are much better options nearby close to Vandy/West End. Should Try: Naan Cheese Bread, Lamb Burger Want to Try: Gol Guppa, Lamb Nachos, Tandoori Skirt Steak

I came here with my wife, sister, and brother-in on Dec 23rd around 6:30. Owned by food network Executive Chef Maneet Chauhan is the co-owner and executive chef of this restaurant, so I was really looking forward to eating here. We tried once in the past but my wife and I are from our of town and you have to book a reservation long in advance. Lucky my sis did. We got full off the apps and dessert. We really enjoy the Tandoor Chicken poutine and the Paneer Tandoor poutine. I would have preferred it to be hotter, because when it got to our table, it was only warm and the fries were a bit soggy. But overall still very good. We also ordered the Cermini Mushroom Toast, which was amazing! Really great flavors. Lastly we ordered the saag Mac and cheese. It was very creamy and delicious. Highly recommend it. Spinach undertone in the saag curry was great. For dessert we ate the chauhan Chocolate Cake and the Gulab Jamun Cheese Cake. The cake was delicious. All of the flavors really compliment each other and the Gulab Jamun Cheese was good as well. Personal note in my opinion, the cheese cake could use more Gulab Jamun in it, because otherwise it kinda of seems like a standard cheese cake. Still delicious though. Our drinks were good. I ordered the Taj Mule. Highly recommend it. Very light and refreshing. Will definitely go back for the main courses. Unfortunately we did not get to eat them as we got to full off the apps, but I really like how they let you mix and match their protein with their curries. Out server was very nice as. I don't recall her name but she was nice and attentive.

The restaurant had a nice vibe, each appetizer (mussels, cauliflower, and mushroom) was amazing, with excellent portions. The amount of food (main course) we were served was more than enough to enjoy in my next day's lunch box. Maybe irrelevant, but even the to-go boxes weren't flimsy styrofoam boxes that leak all over the place. Lastly, our server Mary!!! Thank you for honestly answering all of our questions, being cheerful, and just being kind.

Trusted Straight to the Point Reviews: -Wait time: No wait later at night -Atmosphere: Very cool and we loved the vibe -Cost: slightly above average but not bad -Alcohol: Beer, wine and Liquor -Food: 9/10 Lots of great, bold flavors -Server: 4/10 I legit think she forgot about us or went on break and nobody said anything to us. She got our drinks then we waited 30 minutes before we placed our order. One person in our party had to go ask where our server went because she disappeared. -Overall: 8/10 Would have been a slam dunk if our server didn't vanish for a real 30 minutes.

It is definitely Indian food but elevated. Not fusion, almost more comfort but nothing is a "standard" dish. It's been on our bucket list so now that we live here, we had to go. We will definitely be going back because there were so many other things we wanted to try. Maneet should expand so others can try her food. Love how seasonal the menu is for drinks and appetizers!

5 stars across the board!! The food was amazing!! I loved the fusion of Indian cuisine and Southern fare. We went for brunch. I had the Pakora Fried Chicken & Waffle. My friend had the Tandoori Chicken, tikka masala. We shared the Tandoori Chicken Poutine, and we had some Garlic Parmesan Naan which was incredible. Seriously, everything was delicious. Also, Kirstyn was the best! She was very friendly, and she provided stellar service.

Wow! First, let me give a big thanks to the cooks for the amazing food. From California to New York, this is by far the best curry chicken Iโ€™ve ever had. The service here is top tier. If this is your first time, Iโ€™ll recommend the chicken tikki masala over rice. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ. The garlic nan is a MUST and you canโ€™t forget about dessert. The cheese cake tastes freshly made and super flavorful. Iโ€™ll definitely be back.

Definitely a fresh interpretation of Indian cuisine. First of all, the restaurant is beautiful! Perfect for date night. The food is semi traditional. It pays just enough tribute to authentic dishes that it works! While it might not taste like the traditional version, it gives the feeling of โ€œwhat ifโ€ this dish had a different acid, or sweetness, or freshness, or type of meat. Overall a great experience and I plan to be back!

The food was fantastic. Not your normal Indian fare. The spice level was perfect. We sat in the bar area and we're waited on by Tess. She was knowledgeable about the bar menu and the food menu. We really enjoyed the food and ambiance at this restaurant. We love Indian food and weren't disappointed by this more modern take on traditional Indian food. The decor, lighting, and atmosphere were very soothing and relaxing. Not overly loud so could easily hold a conversation with my friend (LOL). We had appetizers earlier so wish we had ordered one meal to share because we were going to a show and could not take any leftovers with us. The portions were very generous, the huge chunks of lamb were perfectly cooked, and the sauces were moderately spiced and very enjoyable. Honestly, we nearly had an entire meal left and were disappointed to leave so much great food. All of the staff were friendly and engaging. Would highly recommend and look forward to returning and eating ALL of our food on our next trip to Nashville.

I would love to give this 5 stars because the food I did eat was quite tasty... but barely anything is made free of wheat. My favorite reason to dine Indian is usually I can eat everything safely. If you are gluten free like me you may have only 1 or 2 dishes to enjoy. Sad really.

Great food and service. The tandoori chicken with Moilee was wonderful. The naan delicious. This place is saved in my go again list.

Great appetizers and wonderful ideas about Indian fusion cuisine. The main courses were less than what we expected. Very mild, even sweet. Their duck was sweet, the meat & three was made up of sweet vegetables and just edible chicken. No need for dessert once you finish your meal. The staff was very nice and helpful.

Chauhanโ€™s is an upscale Indian Fusion restaurant. Go to Indian place in Nashville. Spacious parking place. I loved their moilee shrimp coconut curry

I've been wanting to try this for months, so my birthday seemed like the perfect time. The staff was so friendly and the service was great. When my husband made the reservation he informed them of my onion allergy and they accommodated me and took it seriously (rare).I had the lamb chops, so juicy and flavorful. All 5 of us loved our food and cocktails. The cheesecake was also fantastic. We will definitely be back!

Top notch Indian fusion. We went for brunch and had an amazing experience. The Indian-spiced poutine was out of this world.

This highly rated upscale Indian place was on my to do list when traveling to Nashville. The place was busy and would recommend table reservation in advance. Else they also give an option to use the bar space(first come first serve). We ordered gol gappa shorts for appetizer and they were very flavorful. For main course we ordered paneer tikka and dal Makhni side with garlic naan. Paneer was little on sweeter side but we liked it. Overall I would rate my experience as great and definitely worth the hype.

The Bhunna was decent, but if you go here for anything, get the garlic parmesan naan! It was amazing!

Good ambiance & creative menu. Had gone on a weeknight during Xmas week. Appetizers were great. However, the authentic Indian fare fell a bit short. Definitely try the Gulab Jamun Cheesecake.
