This restaurant rotates which part of the world the cuisine is and I came here while the Italian menu was on. The food portions were small but they were extremely delicious. The service was also really good and they have an extensive wine menu. Docking 1 star from this review as they tried to give less change than required and pretended like they didn’t charge the surcharge.

I love the concept of the ever changing menu to display the broad range and uniqueness of various culinary styles around the world. I went in Feb 2023 while they had a Cuban menu, because it’s hard finding good Caribbean food in Melbourne. The waitress was really knowledgeable and approachable through the experience. The dishes were diverse and really aimed to sample many aspects of Cuban food, with a twist. I’d love to attend again when the menu has changed!

Very interesting combination of ingredients and flavours, combined with theme of the the menu, brought a lot of surprises. Everything was fun to enjoy. The service was quite slow as the night was fully booked out. It took quite a while to get seated even though we arrive on time. The fist snack came after we were seated for 30 minutes.

Thai Menu (2) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Had the Thai menu and must say it was very well done. 1 dish seemed off, couldn’t quite understand the “Thai-ness” in it, but everything else was exceptional. Plates and portions were excellent and the price was very reasonable. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Was told that their menu changes during each of the countries which means I could visit twice and get 2 experiences for each country which was a great surprise. Overall a great experience and would definitely return. Especially loved how the cutlery was set. It’s one of those little things that make a huge impact. China Menu (1) ⭐️⭐️ The experience began with an incorrect foot as the chopsticks provided were inappropriate. The chopsticks are Korean ones which are very thin and flat whereas Chinese ones are rounded or squarish. This posed a problem through the meal as it was very tough to lift the food. First dish was a cold starter of noodles with fish. The fish was one large uncut slice, so hard to enjoy proportionate with the noodles. Second dish was dumplings that whilst tasty I felt that the filling to skin ratio was bad. It ended up being very chewy as there was too much dumpling skin. Either the dumpling size should have been reduced or the filling increased. Next it was a small serve of congee and a separate serve of scallops. The congee was a amazing and I relayed the message to the server who actually gave me another serve which was great. However the scallop whilst fresh, was lacking flavour. Following that was a braised lamb neck which was absolutely amazing. However the condiments that it came to enjoy with was questionable. The vegetables were also tough to cut with the knife provided. Once again a great dish but not sure about the China flavour. The dish was served with rice that was mediocre. It was definitely missing a gravy/sauce which is a very Chinese thing. The meal ended expected greatly with a Devine dessert. A very innovative use of tofu skin. The bill was provided to me inclusive of a card surcharge however I paid in cash. The serve did not check and returned me completely incorrect change which wasn’t correct even with the surcharge. Understandably it was busy but I feel a little more care be taken in this regard. Will possibly return for their next cuisine but might stay away from the second China menu.

Paid almost $300 for 2pax for their Spain tasting course menu. My partner is vegetarian and all they got was substantial rather than a 5 course meal. They seated us near the kitchen pass and all you can hear is the chefs shouting and updating orders. For my fourth course, I had the beef brisket and it was so hard and chewy. Portion sizes are so much like canapes. It was our first time here and it was rather disappointing

I had an amazing experience at Atlas! The restaurant serves changing menus, and I was lucky enough to try their Spain menu - every dish was explained to me and it felt like a truly immersive experience. The people serving us were friendly and welcoming too, answering all our questions graciously. I loved the fact that they give out passports and boarding passes - such a unique and fun touch! I also visited during a Taiwanese food appreciation menu, which was a wonderful interpretation of Taiwanese cuisine. Finally, the Italian menu and wine pairing was phenomenal and I felt really well taken care of by the Atlas team. I highly recommend this restaurant for a unique and tasty experience!

Just WOW. I love the concept of seasonal menu based on countries. They gave you little passport and boarding pass when you arrived. Food was spot on, cocktail was beautiful. Love the staff and the way they explain the dish. Better book early to secure your spot.

Amazing dinner experience! This definitely has to be one of my favourite places I’ve dined at in Melbourne. The menu is explained to you initially before any food comes out, and then every dish is explained when they bring them out. It feels very immersive in the culture of dishes served, I loved hearing the inspiration behind each one. We went when they were serving their Cuban menu, everything we had was delicious! Our favourite was the rum and pineapple cake. Service is amazing, very friendly and welcoming to any questions you may have. The passports and boarding passes are definitely a nice cherry on top of the night. Can’t wait to come back for their next menu!

Unreasonably expensive, you can see from the photos you would definitely want to eat at the kebab shop next door afterwards. Overall, the food was ok I wouldn’t say that it was amazing. Be aware if you are paying in cash be sure to double check that you aren’t being charged ‘surcharged’ We explained multiple times that we have been charged a credit surcharge the staff explained to us “No you haven’t, the system is just like that” why lie to our face? The numbers don’t lie. In the end we explained the maths and it was resolved. I’ll definitely wont be dining with Atlas again not a pleasant experience.

Had dinner here this evening, Singapore theme. Food was absolutely excellent. Service was wonderful and the cocktails were great also. Excellent wines and well priced also. The 5 course was delicious, food was 10/10 and well priced!!! Every dish was beautifully balanced, Great flavors, great textures and presentation. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great meal and night out. Can’t believe we hadn’t been here sooner! Thank you Atlas looking forward to visiting again soon.

Absolutely fantastic food and service. First time here and was very impressed with the food and the fact that they have a different country theme every few month. Loved the boarding pass and passport provided for the Sri Lankan theme this time round. I will be keen to come back and try out some other country theme in a few months time.

We had a mixed experience at Atlas. The food was fantastic. We dined during their French period. You would say the food is inspired by France - versus redoing classics, a new take French ingredients. The meals were balanced and was very delicate with the rich nature of French cuisine. We came on a Saturday night so had the seven course meal, in a group of four - at an earlier sitting. Two of us had the matching wine. Most matches were solid, but one or two I felt could have deserved choice of wine but maybe that's just my personal preferences. The timing of the courses became an issue We noticed that each food and wine course was served closer and closer to the next. Towards the latter courses it was too quick and we were having to speed through the wine. I thought this rush was because we were ten minutes late for our booking, but other tables were having similar experience. Two hours is not enough time for seven courses. It's a shame for the hurry up, as the food and service was great. I'm sure if we had later sitting we wouldn't encounter the issue.

Indian Street Snacks - Seared Scallops - Dal and Garlic Naan - Grilled John Dory - Lamb Chops - Mango Sorbet What an overall amazing experience this restaurant is. From the service to the food to the interior everything is absolute sensory perfection. This was our first ever fine dining experience and we were worried we may be hungry afterwards, but after many beautiful and flavour-packed courses were were completely satisfied. Chef and owner @charliesatlas even serves your dessert which is such a humble final touch. The 6 course menu goes for only $85. Atlas changes cuisine every four months. India ends 20th Feb and then Australia begins, so get in quick, run don’t walk!!

Would like to leave a good review but after the last 2 boxes we have had from here they clearly they are more after money than looking after their customers whom have supported them during these tough time’s. If they served the same food in the restaurant diners would walk out! Last box was 95% fat and 5% meat.

Insta: melbfoodie_mark YT: MelbFoodieMark ** Check them out for more food reviews in Melbourne! - Interesting concept restaurant offering a travel-inspired dining experience by the head chef, Charlie. Atlas presents different cuisines he encountered during his 8-month trip through 15 countries. The set menu changes every four month to the cuisine of a different country and this time, it was Indian. It went from Smoked Mackerel Bhelpuri, House-Made Paneer Cheese, Grilled Octopus, Duck Thali, and lastly, Gulab Jamun. My personal favourites were Mackerel Bhelpuri and Grilled Octopus. I was born and raised in Busan, Korea (Yes, Busan from Train to Busan. So you know I'm hard) so I might be a bit biased but I rather enjoyed distinctive flavours of the mackerel. Loved that smokey mackerel flavours which went beautifully together with sweet potatoe and yogurt. Great starter. Octopus was grilled with some sort of Indian seasoning - mildly spicy if I remember correctly. I was impressed how tender it was because I've been told that it requires a great deal of effort to cook it perfectly. Inside the panipuri, there was this minty sauce which you can pour over to give you that extra kick. Duck Thali was also delicious with the perfect amount of fat attached to each piece but kinda wished curry had more of that good ol'authentic Indian flavours. Overall, decent experience! Would love to try again in a few months.

The best fine dining restaurant I've visited in Melbourne. From the wait staff, chefs, and, of course, food, everything was a perfectly harmonized experience focusing on and paying homage to Indonesian cuisine. The 5 course meal was bursting with some new and some familiar flavors, textures, and color. Highlights for me included the "Snacks" second course, which consisted of 6 different bite-sized morsels (the betel nut leaf was my favorite), and the chicken-two-ways fourth course. The dessert course also left a wonderful lasting impression with the coconut cream with pandan lime gel, fermented glutinous rice ice cream, and grilled jackfruit. The meal was well-paced, and I enjoyed that the chefs presented each beautiful dish and explained the ingredients and cooking techniques. What is evident is that everyone who works at Atlas deeply cares about the luscious food and the restaurant as a whole, making this an exceptional dining experience.

Wow. My wife and I were here tonight for the opening of the Indonesian summer 2023 menu, and it was one of the best dining experiences I've had in my entire life. From pre-starter to desert, the 5 course taster menu is absolutely flawless. Boasting traditional Indonesian spices (half of which I'd never heard of, but was delighted to taste none the less), wide range of textures, and beautiful presentation, this is simply not one to miss. the atmosphere is classy, yet simple and comfortable. The staff are lovely, accommodating, and to top it all off, the chefs bring the dishes out themselves, running you through the flavour delight you're about to indulge. (bringing a very welcome personal feeling to the evening!) If not for the classy vibes, I would've been licking each plate clean, the flavours holding me captive, so much so, I didnt even want to sip my drink between dishes and wash away the symphony left in my mouth! LOVE LOVE LOVED it deserves 7 stars, but 5 will have to do. Until next time, my friends. I can't wait.

Atlas continues to be one of our favourite Melbourne restaurants that we return to again and again. No matter the cuisine, the quality of the meal and experience is always exceptional and great value for a meal of this standard! Make sure you get to try the Greek menu before it ends! One of my favourites thus far!! (Couple of photos attached - food was so good that in my excitement to eat I forgot to take more photos!)

The experience was quite impressive and so interesting! My friend and I had no idea what type of food would be served and we were blown away by the beautiful concept of “traveling around the world” with the set menu changing every 4 months (also very rare in Melbourne!) 🙏😊 Big thanks to Cyrille who made our night so enjoyable and fun! 🤣 we’ll be back for sure for the next trip ❤️

This is a lovely little restaurant on Commercial road that has a different nations cuisine each three months. Tonight we experienced wonderful examples of Lebanese food in a five course degustation. This included a Lebanese white wine Each course was beautifully presented and the blend of flavours and textures was exquisite.

Very disappointing, We ordered from the Masterclass series. Driver left the box in FULL sun. We are in the country, the food has come from Melbourne. It was left outside for over 4 hours. There was no insulation/ protection for the groceries, the meat wasn't cold - maybe room temp. I am so disappointed as this was a gift , we were looking forward to this. I have rung left messages, i have emailed them as well. I would have really appreciated a call or something.

Atlas is hands down the best degustation dining experience in Melbourne...and I've sat through many! Charlie's vision of bringing menu's from around the world into his restaurant is innovative and fun and just what Melbourne (let alone Australia) has been needing. It has become such a special place, that at least every few months a large group of girlfriends and I have booking to enjoy each Country/Menu twice! It's not pretentious fine dining, but it has class and sophistication without noses stuck in the air and that's what makes it all the better. They also stock the worlds best gin - Death Gin!

I’ve been dining at Atlas for every country they’ve been to thus far and now I’ve been twice to their take on Australia. Between the first and second time I’ve been to Australia was a gap of almost 2 months. During this time, almost the entire menu has been altered to some degree, save for the potato cakes and tartare sauce which has been the highlight both times I’ve been. To be honest, the first Australia experience I had was a bit disappointing. I found the service to be lacking, the food to be below par given my previous dining experiences here, and the heart of the place really gone. To Atlas’ credit, upon reading my initial review they were quick to follow up with a phone call. Genuinely wanting to know how they went wrong that evening and what they could do in the future to ensure an experience like that did not repeat itself. I finished the phone call impressed by their proactivity in trying to understand the situation and being entirely empathetic and authentic in their response. I’m pleased to say that my second dining experience for Australia was exceptional, and returned to the roots of what Atlas is all about. Service was excellent, attentive but not over bearing. You were never left wanting for more or less. The restaurant manager displayed great knowledge of the matched wines on offer. Also worth mentioning that there was a marked improvement in the cocktails on offer. The chilli margarita was fantastic. Probably some of the best cocktails that Atlas has put on their menu since I’ve been dining here. Onto the food, a huge improvement. It returned to the Atlas of old - creative, refined and delicious. Highlight was the mussel with XO sauce, potato cakes (of course) and their improved interpretation of the sausage sizzle (it was much more refined than the first iteration I had 2 months ago). A triumphant return indeed, improvements all across the board. But what I’m most impressed with is the genuine and authentic response from their restaurant manager - it’s really bloody nice when restaurants genuinely care about what customers are saying. Thumbs up Atlas, I will be back for Singapore.

The Atlas experience was more than worth it! We experienced Singapore and the menu did not disappoint. All 5 courses were top notch. Each dish was unique and complex in flavour. The service was great too. The menu also catered well for dietary requirements. We can’t wait to go back again!

Not super impressed by the food and experience. The starter that has the kingfish was great then it all went down. Kangaroo meat was chewy and tasteless. Some of the dishes were quite confusing yet don’t have the interesting characters. Did the matching wine menu as well but the wines didn’t really compliment the food. Overall, 3.5.

This season's theme was an adventure to Cuba with a set menu composed of 5 dishes. Each dish had a mixture of textures and were cooked to perfection with all flavours balancing perfectly. Hats off to the amazing chef. Small restaurant with delicious food and a great concept. The staff were friendly and explained the menu well. Smoked salmon with spices balanced perfectly. The take of the Cuban sandwich had a delicious sauce that brought all the components together. Octopus was well cooked and the corns cooked in diff ways with the guava bbq was delicious. Smoked chicken perfectly cooked and charred. Dessert rum and pineapple cake with coconut and caramelised pineapple sorbet has all the textures. Soft cake with cold sorbet and the crispy bits of pineapple and coconut.

Breaks my heart to say that all 8 of us were absolutely disappointed. Here’s the story: There were 8 of us and I was asked to join by a colleague. We got the Italian “Boarding Pass”, tiny proportions did not put me off at all as I’m on a diet. There were eternal intervals between infinitesimal amounts of appetisers and the Lilliputian main course. One of my friends asked that she wasn’t able to have milk, but she’d be okay with other dairy products. They served her dairy free. Unreasonably expensive, at about $100 per each, when 2 of our friends had to leave even though they had only had one appetiser, the restaurant took only $19 from the bill for each of them. The food wasn’t offering any competitive advantage, nothing to remember and even though my whole heart wants to say everything positive about our local businesses especially after covid and several lockdowns, if I recommend this to other diners, I have betrayed their trust. Sorry, won’t be back ever: high price for no discernible value, nothing special about the food, disappointing service. PS The staff was nice, friendly and polite, hardworking and worthy of every respect ❤️

Restaurants with changing menus, we were excited that they chose to serve Taiwanese food, given good Taiwanese food is very hard to come by in Melbourne. Although it is more of a "appreciation" or "interpretation" of the cuisine rather to mimic it entirely. You will not find authentic hearty big portion Taiwanese food, or the normal night market staples. Rather fine dining western style servings with flavours and elements in classical Taiwanese dishes. Overall its a good experience and the food was excellent, and i certainly commend the team for taking the leap to try something different.

Atlas Dining creates a new set menu every season with each season bringing you a different cuisine. Dined here near the end of Autumn when they had the Italy menu consisting of 5 courses. On the table you are provided with a dummy passport, boarding pass and a set cutlery for each course which was creative. The course started off with an antipasto board with a number of bite size snacks which were all tasty. This was followed by a tuna dish with orange and rocket; fresh but a little too citrusy. The rabbit and mushroom ravioli was the highlight of the menu; flavour was well balanced but unfortunately the portion size was very small. The mains was a pork belly sitting on a bed of risotto. Pork crackling was too crunchy and was hard to cut into; enjoyed the risotto more than the pork but again wish there was more of the risotto. The dessert was some chocolate mousse with mandarin and sponge fingers; tasted ok but quite underwhelming as it's literally a few ingredients placed onto a plate. Overall the Italy menu was ok (except the ravioli which was amazing) but expensive for the portion size. Staffs were friendly but had to wait 15min to pay the bill.

Atlas always provides excellent service and an incredible atmosphere. Seasonal cuisine helps with keeping the dining experience fresh and exciting. The food is always high quality and delicious. Although, the seasonality can also impact how it's enjoyed.

Excellent restaurant and more than that… an experience. Something different, interesting, so well thought through - every course of the Spanish theme was a delight. Would come back again and highly recommend it to others. Great service too, I had two dietary requirements (pregnancy and nut allergy) and all adjustments were made with ease & no fuss - so highly appreciative of this.

A lovely dining experience, we "visited" Colombia. The plane ticket, travel pack of silverware, and centerpiece of localized aromatics on the table were a nice touch. The setting was intimate, candlelit. We got a table in front of the kitchen and was fun to see some of the plating. Of the five courses, the second was a standout favorite (duck in soup). The first was also great (a play on ceviche with trout). The final course (steak and risotto with potatoes and salad to share) and dessert (peach empanada) were good. But the third course (a play on arepas) felt like a miss - it was a dry and lacked flavor. My partner did the wine pairing and enjoyed the picks. We tried all 3 cocktails and each was unique and delicious. The "mule" had an amazing cumin / pepper spice to it. The service was friendly and knowledgeable, e.g. great descriptions of the wine pairings. Overall, would recommend for a nice evening out.

Very glad I caught the Colombian menu before it finished up at the end of November. It was a 5/5 for me! It was so affordable for a delicious 5 course set menu. Dishes were well balanced and had so much texture. The flavours and ideas were not repetitive. We had both seafood and meat. The service was lovely with high attention to detail, loved the addition of the passport and boarding pass. Would definitely come back for a different country.

Lovely venue and a great concept, but unfortunately the Taiwanese menu did not hit all the right notes. The first two courses started strong, but unfortunately the heavier dishes lacked complexity and the dessert was also a little flat. The biggest disappointment was the three cup chicken inspired duck dish - the protein was well cooked enough but the sauce lacked depth and left us unsure of the connection to the original inspiration

My partner and I absolutely loved Atlas. It was our first time there and it was the Cuban experience. The staff were all so welcoming and friendly and they explained everything thoroughly. The food was amazing! The two highlights for us were cured snapper and the octopus. That being said, we enjoyed every dish. We also loved the idea of having a boarding pass, passport, and travel satchel for the cutlery on the table. It was a nice touch to add to the experience. Can’t wait to see what the next destination will be 🌏

Ate at Atlas dining as part of the Lebanese menu. It was a hot evening in Melbourne and the air conditioner totally could not keep up, the temperature inside the restaurant was sweltering and totally uncomfortable to dine in. The waiter was trying to be funny but was quite rude to one of our party which totally ruined the experience for me.

We got the cook at home Peruvian box for four. We found the result disappointing. The agreed favorite was the smoked cauliflower with quinoa. This was because the sauce really lifted the meal. On other nights the supplied sauce was lackluster or the dish had too much carbohydrates.

Amazing food and great service! The space isn't overly large so not too noisy, service is attentive and the food is fantastic. The menu is five courses but each course is portioned out really well so you don't feel overwhelmed with too much food but just enough. Highly recommend.

Unique dining experience of Mexican street food elevated to modern fine dining experience. The first course was subtle and refreshing. Second course of taco was inspiring. Made me realized that authentic taco shells are soft, thick and could taste a strong tortilla flavor. The crispy tostada with octopus and the most amazing avocado was the best course of the night. Tasted intense mole as the fourth course. Sea bream with banana mole tasted really unique. Never had fish with banana sauce before. Dessert was fresh and sweet, really enjoyable. Overall, dining here really flew me over to the land of exploration and revelation about other cultural dishes.

A walk through my experience in Atlas: Walking in, the atmosphere was cozy and inviting without compromising elegance. The branding and interior was very consistent with the concept of travel, globe and ties in with the worldly menu. It’s a 5 set pre-fix menu which changes every 3months. We tried the southern America menu, which included a beautifully done king fish, corn meal bread with seafood and maple syrup, southern style fried chicken with mac&cheese, Texan BBQ wagyu and warm chocolate chip cookie with ice cream and strawberries. It’s definitely more delicious than I could ever convey in this review. If I had to fault the whole experience, it would be the wine pairing menu which although okay, doesn’t exactly elevate the whole experience. Overall, the food artistry takes centre stage and reinvention of simple well known ingredients/dishes makes Atlas one of the best restaurants in Melbourne. I can’t wait for my palette to experience a new country the next time I visit. Well done to the staff and chefs. ??

We had dinner on a Saturday night. The theme was Lebanese. From the minute we walked in to the restaurant till we left, the service was amazing and it was truly a Lebanese culinary experience. We love our food. Highly recommend this place. Can't wait for the next culinary experience at Atlas dining.

Wow. Food so amazing it's mind blowing. Food I didn't like the sound of and wouldn't normally eat (figs stuffed with smoked eel) was sensational. Dish of the night! Not cheap, but so worth it. Service is excellent. Make sure you opt for the extra 2 courses - you won't be sorry.

Had a really nice lunch at Atlas, last day of their Chinese menu. The dishes had some flavours I've never tried with Chinese food - so it was great! Surprising use of fish and fish stock too.

Has to be one of the best value degustations in Melbourne. They had just released the Thia menu when we went and it was excellent, not only was it extremely tasty but a well thought out menu, highly recommended

Fantastic! Was a great experience; the team were extremely friendly and professional, the courses were small but still just enough and the time between dishes was spot on. Only downside (and why it’s not a 5 star rating) was that we were pretty disappointed in the offerings on the wine/beverage list, and going from previous reviews, it appears that this is a common detractor. Otherwise, will probably come back when the menu changes

Below are that photos of the four savoury dishes we were served as part of the degustation menu. Some dishes were outstanding while the rest were very good. The wine menu was also good. No complaints. Ambiance was excellent with unobtrusive background music and indirect lighting. Seats were comfortable. Four sets of knives and forks were wrapped in a fold out leather pouch. Was a nice touch that I really liked. The cost was $75 per person. I think the food and service was great value for the money. To reach the toilet you had to walk through a courtyard. It was raining the night we went, so we got wet. Toilets were clean with individual small towels to dry your hands.

Honestly - you'll be better off looking at what region they're covering and then heading to a place that specialises in that cuisine. Was so excited to go here. The concept is brilliant. Unfortunately the execution not so much. The menu is set, so you'd think the waiters would know a little bit about what they're going to serve - let's just say it was a real opportunity to engage us in the storytelling of a region and its food, and instead we were left clueless and wondering 'what's the point'. Transport us - involve us - give us a reason to come back and explore corners of the world. As it stands, it just felt like it could've all been done a bit better tbh.

Our group of five took the trip to Atlas' Lebanon and were very impressed! Five tasty courses bursting with flavour, the mezze spread was the highlight as it was an all hands on deck affair like a feast should be. Our waiter was friendly, chill and had some interesting info about the pottery and Lebanese wine options. Perfect for a special occasion and we are looking forward to checking in to another destination on Charlie's global journey!

It was a birthday celebration and everything about it was perfect, from the service to the quality and creativity of the menu. We had paired wines which were a great complement and enjoyed the unusual wine selections. The theme was Lebanese and we loved the modern twist on traditional dishes. The ambience and decor was excellent too. We'll be back. Thank you!
