Few friends and I had lunch today. The sitting outside is not as nice as inside. No proper table settings, felt like a picnic. I also like to suggest that Kadhai not to reuse their takeout menus for hygiene reason, because take out menus can not be disinfected. I loved the eggplant 🍆 curry and the goat kadhai…… but I did not realize the shrimp and chicken curries tasted actually the same… overall a nice 👍 place for northern Indian food.

Personally I feel it's not the restaurant to be visited more than once. Food was not of that great taste and felt not cooked perfectly. They don't have the proper menu also and they didn't suggest the dishes when we asked for. Overall we didn't enjoy much with the food served over here.

The Food is Rich and Dense. The food differentiates itself from the Indian food served in other Indian restaurants. The bread is fluffy and the dishes are plenty and rich. I haven’t had Gobi Manchurian like this anywhere in the neighborhood.

We tried this restaurant for the first time and it is the best around the bethesda downtown location. The food portion and the service is good. The Gobi Manchurian was delicious and the chicken kadhai was OK. The goat biryani and malai Kofta was good as well. The Mango Lassi was awesome too. We would definitely try more options in the future.

Now I have been to a lot off Indian restaurants but this happened to be the worst one I have tried. The food looks good but taste awful. The paneer that I ordered tasted as if the sauce was already made and they just threw in the paneer and served it, the rice was burnt, the vegetable breyani was cooked but the vegetables was still hard as if it wasn’t cooked at all, the dhall which suppose to be soft it was hard and seemed uncooked and the paratha would have been great if it was made with white flour instead of whole-wheat. It is my opinion on the restaurant and my experience based on the day that I went to eat there. I will not be returning to this restaurant again.

The food is really good here. We’ve been ordering takeout for about 7 years from here. Unfortunately, lately the portions have been much less. This time the containers were almost half empty .. disappointed

I called to place an order Over the phone for 5 adults and 4 children take out and asked them to recommend the amounts. After taking their recommendation I asked the price They said they didn’t have to time to ring it up. When I showed up it was over $200 and it was twice the amount I needed. I feel cheated.

I never write restaurant reviews. We ordered via DoorDash. But this was the strangest Indian food we have ever eaten. We ordered Bindi Marsala, Lamb Saag, Chicken Tiki Masala, Saffron Rice, Raita, and Naan. Spicing was off on everything. The Chicken Tiki Masala tasted like Campbell’s Tomato Soup. The Naan was like a large, flat dinner roll. The Raita was hard to describe. It was shocking considering the large number of stars this restaurant has received. I can only conclude that the vast majority of customers do not know what good, authentic Indian food tastes like. COVID-19 concession aside, we won’t be reordering.

Food was a bit too sweet for my taste. The dishes on the table were all filthy (had dried up food) we asked for new plates and those new plates were still dirty. There are also flies in the restaurant.

The goanese fish curry was a little rich, but still very tasty. The lamb sheekh kabab was quite good, but could have done with some more marination. But all, told, it was a nice dinner. The service was prompt and very helpful.

The food is dangerously delicious. Their chicken tikka masala is the best I’ve ever had on three continents. The Chicken Mughlai Biryani was extremely tender and well seasoned. Exceptionally succulent! Their handmade artisan breads were soft, sweet, salty, umami, savory, and everything else in between. Everything that they served was a flavor BOMB! My tastebuds can understand why the flavors are fit for a King.

I ordered delivery from here last night and it is the most delicious takeout I’ve had all pandemic. The saag paneer was perfect. The palak chaat was maybe better than Rasika’s. The naan was heavenly. And what’s better is that I ate three full grown lady meals from this delivery. These photos are just from the leftovers I had for lunch and dinner the day after I ordered and ate my fill! I strongly recommend ordering from here. I can’t wait to eat there after the pandemic!

Pathetic Food and very bad service . Food is never fresh and burnt breads were served. Rice looked like it was cooked one week before .

This restaurant usually has excellent food, but I will never be eating from there again. I am a strict vegetarian and found a piece of chicken in the all vegetarian food I had ordered. This place clearly has some severe cross contamination going on and IS NOT VEGETARIAN FRIENDLY. People who don’t eat meat, especially for religious reasons, should not risk eating here. I am extremely disappointed and disgusted.

I've tried most of the Indian restauants in Bethesda, this is probably the least tasty that I've eaten from. Saag Paneer and Chana Masala were both very bland and watery

Favorite Indian restaurant in Montgomery co. We used to come in person for indoor or outdoor buffet lunch or dinner now it’s all carry out. Very good dishes, lamb biryanis, tiki masala, naan, anything made in a clay pot is a winner. Great service.

I would give less than 1 star if i could . i ordered methi malai chicken. i was given a rubbery big chunks of chicken dipped in a salty sauce. worst part was i found a strand of hair in my food. yuck .. get your staff cleanliness trained and cook food better. i gave this restaurant many chances and it has consistently disappointed me. i would not recommend this restaurant for any meat related dishes. i would not be ordering from this restaurant again

Usually when go to a new Indian place, I get a dish and then ask myself… is this significantly better than the same dish frozen from Trader Joe’s … the answer was no… it could have been frozen… but the rice and naan were legit good… super chewy naan can really make you feel good .. so 4 stars instead of 3

So delicious! We ordered Chicken with fenugreek a little taste of heaven, complex flavor not overly sweet and nicely blended with aromatics. Paired with naan and mango chutney great warm comforting meal.

This restaurant is okay, if you live within walking distance. The vindaloo was uninspired and expensive. Service was good. We came for lunch.

Ok Indian food, but not great. Got chicken vindaloo and chicken tikka masala. the vindaloo was pretty good, 4 of 5, but the tikka masala was pretty bland 2 of 5. Service was pretty good.

Lovely food, but terrible service that ruined my meal. I arrived 45 minutes before closing. The waiter was reluctant to provide service and then tried to rush me. While I was eating, the waiter stood over me watching me, told me that they were closing and brought a takeout box. I took the hint and packed up my food, only to have the waiter shove the check in my face, presumably because he wanted to get his tip before leaving?

The restaurant is delicious, the waiters are kind and very patient. Flavorful and memorable. It's a fantastic restaurant. Unfortunately, the outdoor atmosphere is not so much. I've been here three times, for the food. 1st time, we sat outside when they had outdoor seating. An angry homeless guy was wandering and throwing things amd running recklessly. 2nd time, we ate indoors, by the window, but a homeless guy was shooting up some kind of needle drug. That made me loose my appetite. I didnt tell the waiter, he was trying to keep up with the busy crowd. 3rd time, with co-workers. I told them it was great but maybe just go indoors. Didnt mention anything aboit the honelessness. Same thing with a guy by the window but this time somwthing more disgusting. I didn't think Bethesda was a homeless kind of place. As much as the restaurant puts its best foot forward, it cannot compete against urination, angry homlessness or drug use. Go to the restaurant, enjoy yourself inside. Preferably not near a window. Its a pitty. I hope the rest of Bethesda isn't like that. Definitely didntexoect that from this town. 😕

Regrettably, after my visit on 02.05.2024, I find myself compelled to advise against patronizing this establishment, especially for those in pursuit of authentic Indian culinary experiences. While the cuisine may pass muster, the establishment is significantly let down by its service and ambiance, both of which fall markedly short of acceptable standards. A particularly disconcerting practice is the insistence on ushering customers out precisely at their closing time of 9 PM, a gesture that starkly contrasts with the warm hospitality traditionally associated with Indian culture. Given the plethora of superior dining options available in the vicinity that honor the rich traditions of Indian hospitality and cuisine, I earnestly recommend exploring alternative venues to ensure a more gratifying dining experience.

Amazing. Great atmosphere. Great service. The items are meant to be shared. We had the naan (garlic) and the mango and plain Lassi drinks which are yogurt based. We also had enough food to take home and last two more meals. Will definitely be back!

Very disrespectful, walked in there to pick up my order and the guy didn’t even acknowledged my presence, kept on talking in his native language on the phone for almost 10min until I decided to walk out, he turned around and waved goodbye!

  • 5/5 Kristen M. 3 years ago on Google
Wonderful food! We recently ordered delivery via GrubHub and were impressed. It was very fresh, aromatic and well balanced and distinctive flavors. Might be the best Saag Paneer I've ever had- the cardamom pods gave it such a rich flavor. My daughters loved the Chicken Tikka Masala, and my husband enjoyed the Hariyali Tikka Tandoori very much- the first time we've seen this on a menu at and Indian restaurant.

I don't know much about Indian food, but this place is sooo tasty. The sauces are packed with flavor, the rice is always seasoned, and the biryani is perfection. The naan is really good, too. Just be aware that the rogan josh has a special yogurt sauce. I didn't read the fine print when I ordered it.

We have only order through GrubHub but the food was still hot when it arrived and delicious. The only problem was that our order was not correct. The good news is we had ordered one lamb and one chicken dish and received one of each, just different from our order. It was a great opportunity to try something new.

Delicious, delicately seasoned Indian food. Comfortable dining room (as well as take out). Friendly service and reasonable prices. The food comes in generous portions and is not too salty. Tends to be heavy on the cream, in a good way.

There are a lot of Indian restaurants in Bethesda and we've tried most of them. This is now our go-to spot for an Indian lunch buffet and we try to visit once a month. The quality of the food is top notch and they seem to have a larger selection than most buffets in the area. Service is always great too.

My wife and I dined here for the lunch buffet and thought the food was terrific! We thoroughly enjoyed the fried fare, which included the variety of pakora. The other fare is also creamy and dense; this will be a heavy meal :) During our visit, the naan was a bit variable -- the first serving seemed fresh, fluffy, whereas the second looked dry, brittle, overcooked. Still recommend visiting, but not our to-go place for Indian fare.

I find this to be a handsome restaurant, not flashy, not pretty, but good looking. So far, of the menu items I have tried, the butter chicken over the white rice is my favorite. Dipping their super soft naan into the the butter sauce is a delight.
