Buffet was amazingly tasty. Best Indian restaurant in St. Louis. Inside ambience is very nice, parking space is sufficient, staffs were very courteous. I was skeptical when I had chosen House of india for team lunch but all of the very happy with food and ambience. We will come again!!!

If your looking for awesome authentic Indian cuisine then look no further. I could tell right off the bat that it was good with the aroma of spices when we walked in the door. I had the chicken makhani dish. It did not disappoint. We also indulged in an appetizer before our food came out. I don’t think you could go wrong anyway you go.

Yesterday, It was our first time in this restaurant. I rate 5***** for service. I rate 5***** for Cleaning and staff. But Food is okey. You have to tell him each and every details about spiciness Nd all. We order parathas but no oil, no butter on it. Is that thing that we should mention them. I don't think so. Secondly you have to make sure about quantity. Sabji quantity is very less compared to prices. Check my photos for their food and prices.

Excellent Indian food for when you don't want to go the buffet route. Consistent...rock solid every time. Great Central location. Definitely belongs in your rotation!

House of India is our FAVORITE Indian restaurant. The food is authentic/tastes homemade, delicious, fairly priced and always fresh. My late father was from Goa, India and we celebrated many of his birthdays at HOI. Recently, were so lucky to have HOI cater my father’s Celebration of Life Memorial Dinner. We were blown away by the customer service, and of course, by the amazing food. Kumar, the owner, was in direct contact with me and went above and beyond to make our event perfect and even shared kind words as he remembered my Dad. I can’t recommend this family owned, quality restaurant enough. Thank you again HOI!

The food was really good! I will definitely come back. Service was a bit slow, but they also had a full room and seemed to be a bit short-handed.

First time ever having Indian food and I must say, it was fire! I didn't even know what to order but the menu wasn't intimidating. Chicken platter Kabob and chicken masala. Some Naan. I'm a full, happy man. 😂 I will be back for more!

This place was delicious. The servers were awesome. Everyone was nice and it was so peaceful to dine in. My favorite meal was the jasmine rice with the Butter chicken And garlic nan bread with the samosas‼️‼️‼️‼️ I gave this place five stars.

This was the first of many visits. The service was wonderful, the waiter and staff were very attentive and polite! The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing. The food was amazing, I had Chicken Curry and Garlic Nan, my sister had Chicken Tandoori and we finished off with the Mango ice cream. I would definitely recommend House of India and will be returning.

House of India is simply the best Indian dining experience in St. Louis. The décor is modest and understated and the attentiveness, friendliness, and eagerness of the staff to serve you well make it a very relaxed and welcoming environment for casual dining. The food is mainly Northern Indian cuisine and the dishes are perfectly spiced but with the heat turned down just a hint to appeal to the majority of local diners tastes (with the exception of the vindaloo dishes…).

This indian restaurant has the best samosas. Spice levels are serious here. It's easy to order online right now and their anticipated wait time is accurate.

I moved away six years ago so coming back I was hoping it was as good as I remembered. The service was outstanding, restaurant was spotless as always, but the chicken tikka masala wasn't very tender. The diet coke tasted a bit bland and flat too (was it Pepsi?). The rice has changed as well; I dont know if it's because they stopped using butter. Still the best garlic naan bread I've ever had. The flavors are still generally there but the methods have declined a bit. I'll give it another chance before finding a new spot.

The buffet was alright, came here with a friend who did not like the food as much as other Indian restaurants we've tried. I thought it was good but nothing stands out.

Got my go to Indian meal of chicken vindaloo and Naan to go. Vindaloo was okay, not spicy at all and it's vindaloo come on! Naan was okay. I'd go back again because close to downtown Clayton. Been to way better places in loop and chesterfield Valley.

We love this place! Just a great dining experience. Haven’t been out much with COVID so went here and felt right at home. Makes the dining experience feel like family. Started with a generous combo plate appetizer. For entrees I wanted anything with lamb off the menu. Decided on Rogan Josh and the lamb was cooked perfect. Mixed grill with Tikka Masala was my wife’s go to favorite. Of course the fresh garlic Naan was perfect for scooping up every bit of leftover sauce. Until next time!

I enjoy eating Indian food. When I do, we almost always get the Chicken Tikka Masala. Which is what we did this time. First time eating here. We ordered takeout. It was good. I also ordered a chai. I had to add some sugar, but I like it sweet. One thing of note regarding the chai, they microwaved it. Not sure if this is normal, but I am pretty sure most of them are made fresh on the stove. I would definitely go back here. I would also like to dine in to see how that experience is. The interior seemed nice.

Got the Rogan Josh, paneer makhani, palak paneer, chicken ginger kabob, dal makhani, tandoori chicken, chicken biryani, achar, paneer paratha, garlic naan, and chicken tikka masala. Absolutely loved the chicken ginger and tikka masala. Also enjoyed how light the curries were. Service was also wonderful! Would come again with a group of people to get a variety of entrees!

Ordered via Foodsbye. No utensils or Napkins were provided in the bag. I'm at work so had to walk to the cafeteria to get replacements. Tandoori chicken was so-so, but the bones were flaking and I nearly pierced the roof of my mouth with a bone splinter (scratched it for sure). After that had to very carefully sift and slice through the meat, and remove a dozen similar splinters and fragments. Likely the result of cooking too hot.

My recent visit to 'House of Biryani's and Kebabs' was a delightful experience. The front staff were attentive and courteous, ensuring that every aspect of our dining experience was enjoyable. The highlight, undoubtedly, was the biryanis - they were a burst of flavors, perfectly cooked and left me craving for more. This restaurant truly knows how to strike a balance between excellent service and exceptional food. I'll definitely be returning for more culinary delights!"

Ordered take out, chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. The naan was delicious, and the portion size of the chicken was very decent. It was also ready in 30 mins as they said so that was nice!

  • 5/5 R Y. 8 months ago on Google
the only reason i rated 4 of 5 stars on atmosphere is not even your fault. there was a table of 5 ungrateful people sitting across from me who just kept complaining about their food. how it was too spicy or had specific things or was wrong. the old lady was so rude along with the rest of her family. the main man was telling her the food is not spicy at all and that her order was correct. the old woman just admitted to just not liking it. people need to think before they go out to eat. and when they were asked how everything was they all said good. spineless. they are so annoying that i am tempted to ask to sit elsewhere. i LOVE indian food and have been to almost every restaurant in st louis area and House of India is the only place that meets expectations in every category. service is nice and friendly and knowledgeable, the food is always fresh never frozen. the decor and music is very much Indian. terribly sorry that HOI has to deal with customers such as that party of five.

Fantastic, authentic Indian food, lovely atmosphere. excellent service and very reasonable prices. The Shrimp Tikka Masala was outstanding. Their naan is unbelievably good! Best Indian I’ve ever had.

The chicken tikka masala kind of tasted like buffalo wing sauce. Ordered two, a mild one and a hot one-- provided in unlabeled containers, but readily identified them by taste.

Don't know much about Indian food but I think this particular food good!. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered, nobody complained and the amount of food per dish, was plenty. The beers are pretty average, nothing special but refreshing. I think the service is worth mention because he did a good job. They place was not full or anything so he focused on us. Although he took his time taking the order he made sure everything was correct. Never had my glass of water empty (sometime this was kinda overwhelming but in general I appreciate it). I feel I'd recommend this place.

As always, House of India did not disappoint. One of our favorite places. And the Tandoori chicken is always divine! It is moist and flavorful. We tried the vegetable appetizer for the first time today and it was delicious. The spinach/ potato appetizer is so tasty it does not need any sauce. It also included samosas, fried onions and fried cheese.Yum! Service was wonderful as usual too!

They do not have lunch buffet as shown on the photos on google. Lunch thali was offered instead, that came with very little food, cold nan wrapped in foil and high price, served without any sides and did not tasted good at all. Do not recommend this restaurant if you are visiting this city.

Friendly staff whom accommodated some of our party’s gluten free restrictions. Very good food and service. One added bonus is one of us forgot our wallet and our waiter ran outside to let us know. Highly recommend this establishment.

Good food, decent ambience, the chai was the best and also was the roti, strangely the yoghurt was too sour (almost vinegar like). Staff is friendly but has limited knowledge of food, multiple spice levels of dishes which is great

This used to be my friend’s favorite Indian restaurant, however the quality has changed. The food is not bad, but it tastes too generic. They also charged us for a tea that we had not asked for. The interior has a comfy old feel to it. The music is odd as they play covers of popular English songs.

Got order for two last night take out dinner. Soup, curry, and mixed grill. Some chutney and Indian pickles plus 2 kinds of bread. Everything is pretty delicious, except for meat in mixed grill was dry and tough. Some pieces were literally hard as a rock.

Got the dinner for two with my partner and it was amazing!! We also ordered an appetizer which was great but totally unnecessary because they brought our the main course before we even finished them. Our server was very polite and friendly as well. Definitely get the chai tea! Absolutely coming back here again.

It's nice that for carry out they bring the food to your car. It's was just sad that for us, that was where the nice part of the meal ended. Everything tasted a bit reheated. The Naan was room temperature. The Mango Kulfi was good at least.

I ordered a variety of dishes, including Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Ginger Kabab, Shrimp-Do-Piaza, Roti and Chicken Pakora. The Tandoori was out of this world delicious, perfectly seasoned and tender. The addition of the onions and bell peppers added to the overall taste of the chicken. The Ginger Kabab was also very well seasoned. I could really taste the ginger but it didn't overwhelm my tastebuds. I'm partial to the Tandoori, but I hear the Chicken Ginger Kabab is a very popular dish. I felt like there wasn't enough shrimp in the Shrimp-Do-Piaza, although it was another tasteful entree, which was complimented perfectly by the Roti. The Roti, by the way, was exquisitely baked in the clay oven and had just the right texture and feel. Finally, the Chicken Pakoras were a delight. Overall, this was an amazing culinary experience and I will certainly be making frequent return visits to House of India.

Buffet during lunch! The flavors here are more subtle than other Indian food restaurants. The curries are lighter and less overpowering. I would guess it also is healthier. I left feeling satisfied but not stuffed, which I normally do. The quality of their chicken was very good. Slight knock for not having as many curries as l would like to see and bathroom not very clean or pleasant.

Tuesday February 25 was my first time eating at House of India and it is now my new favorite Restaurant with Indian cuisine. My King and I thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance, food and HUGE shout to our Akil. He knew exactly what we wanted and had Amazing energy and vibes. This used to be my favorite Indian place in STL, but my last two visits were pretty disappointing food wise. I love the classy, yet casual vibe: white tablecloths, candlelit tables, and suited waiters and ambiance here; you are treated well for sure. The garlic naan and samosas appetizer are still the best and by all means try their delicious mango lassi, a truly delicious smoothie yogurt drink. The daal was not hot and was thin and bland on our last visit and the little touches that made this place so special seemed to be gone. They no longer serve the little flatbread crisps and chutneys that used to be served to all tables as a little appetizer. The sauces don't taste the same. The meat was overcooked and dry in both our entrees and the spices could not be found. The food was not made with love anymore. Their lamb biriyani and chicken Tikka masala used to be so delectable, I requested this for my birthday dinner for over 15 years. I hope they fix it.

The portions are generous so we often skip appetizers but on occasion the onion bhajia and chane-ki-chat are tasty light starters. The dal and mulgatawny soup are nice openers for cool evenings and are rich in flavor. We haven’t found anything on the entrée menu we didn’t thoroughly enjoy but the tandoori dishes (especially the chicken ginger kabab..) really stand out. The goa fish is also a stand out and our vegetarian family members always find something they enjoy. The nan and kulcha are “must haves” for sopping up the delicious sauces that complement each dish. We always head there when we’re in the mood for Indian and always leave commenting on how much we’ve enjoyed the meal and service. Thanks to Kumar and his staff for a great job for over 25 years now!

If I may say, i have eaten at a variety of indian restaurants from most major cities in United States and the food from India House is one of the best food I had ! I have also tried all indian restaurants in St Louis as well, and House of India has the best food out of all. Their appetizer dishes are excellent, their daal is awesome and their chicken curry, chicken tikka masala were just perfect. If you are in St Louis and wanting the indian food, I would not waste your money and calories at anywhere else !
