What a great place for delicious Indian food. The staffs were friendly and attentive. Food are meeting our standards. We ordered Chicken masala and Korma in “hot”, and they’re surely spicy and tasty. Tandoori chicken had bone-in and boneless both on the hot plate. Overall, it was great dining experience. We will be coming back again! Highly recommended. (Ps. A friendly suggestion: the entire restaurant smelled like chlorine cleaning products... I appreciate they clean the place thoroughly, but I also hope they can ventilate more and more so when people walk in, it smell like a restaurant/food instead of a hospital)

We can’t stop thinking about this food! We had the lamb kababs which were full of taste. I had the lamb rogan Josh and the lamb just melted in my mouth. My husband had achari chicken and loved it. We appreciated that the menu was so well labeled for gluten-free and vegan options. I didn’t have to worry about asking our waitress or getting something I shouldn’t. We will be back for sure because there are so many options to try.

What a pleasant surprise to find such good Indian food that’s not overpriced or made only for tourist palettes. This place has a great menu, so if you are looking for the typical Indian dishes, you’ll find them here. The magic is in trying out some of their other dishes! This time we tried the Goat curry and this is a can’t miss if you are dining here. The appetizers were good but comparable to other places (special mention to their delicious mint and tamarind chutneys) The Tikka was buttery and the spice level we chose (medium/hot) was great for those who like spicy food. Can’t wait to come back and try additional items!

A very good Indian restaurant which is worth testing and tasting! We tested several dishes and all of them were fresh made and tasty. If you are asked if you line hot food, keep in mind that what hot means for a truly Indian restaurant 😂. I did not cry but the food really was hot. The sauce of the chicken meat was both delicate and delicious. The only thing that did not match my best other Indian restaurant place was the nan. A special notice for the service: very good! Food quality: 5* Food taste: 5* Service: 5* Ambiance: 4* Quality/price ratio: 5*

This place is good. Like REALLY good. My friends and I tried the lunch combos and some momo, we were all raving about our food. My rogan josh was delicious, and the sides were tasty. I’d give them 6 stars, but we couldn’t dine-in so I’ll just give them 5 stars instead.

I love it!! The mango yogurt is super creamy and the yogurt is homemade by themselves🤩 The goat curry also tastes great, maybe I’ll fall into love with Indian curry owing to this store.

The food here is all homemade with family recipes that are tasty and unique. For instance the lamb kebobs were amazing and unlike any I've had before. But what really stood out for me was the service. They were so kind and attentive. This restaurant has a warm, lovely family vibe.

We ordered takeout lunch from Saffron. The food was ready on time and the online order process was very straight forward. We got Chicken Tikka Masala with Garlic naan and rice was very delicious. I will definitely comeback to this restaurant.

OMG! The Gobi Manchurian was the BEST Gobi! Every dish we ordered was so delicious that now we don't have to go to downtown Austin! I'm from Long Island, NY and I wish Saffron would open a location near me in Port Jefferson.

Great portion sizes. The service was incredible and the staff was gracious and accomodating. I went with 2 of my friends and we highly recommend the garlic naan, samosas, salmon korma, chicken korma, and chicken tiki marsala. Easily our new favorite Indian Fusion restaurant.

Get the Malai-Kofta - that's my favorite. The Saag Paneer is also good. Don't forget the Rosemary Cheese Naan. That's what I always get but the other things I've tried were great as well!

The food was absolutely delicious, but would have happily given Saffron five stars before I even tried it. I was lucky enough to talk to Veena during my wait for naan bread that I forgot to order online and I felt so valued by the wonderful conversation we were able to have. When I brought home the food to my friends, they thought it was incredible and immediately wanted to know where I got it, and one had never tried Indian food before and she is an absolute convert. I cannot recommend the Saffron at Far West enough!

Right now, Saffron is taking care during Covid, but still bringing the best food to its customers every day. We try to order 1x a week because their food is literally the tastiest we've had in the city, and we try a lot of places for Indian food. The Tikka Masala will keep you coming back. It's creamy and rich without being overwhelming or heavy. And their customer service is top not.

Went here the other day to try it out and am glad I did! I got biryani and it was delicious. The wait time was rather long. (I ordered 30 mins ahead, but still had to wait another 15 or so for my food). But they were very busy with many orders and a place that is that popular even during COVID is definitely doing something right.

This is my favorite place for Indian/Nepali cuisine in Austin. My wife and I have been going here since we first moved to Austin a few years ago. We moved farther out, and now happily make the trek of over an hour round trip to get the food here. Yes, it's that good. Here are our favorites: - Baigan Bhartha - Eggplant with peas, super delicious! - Lamb Pasanda - We love this so much that we usually order two so we have lots of leftovers - Gobi Manchurian - Cauliflower in a delicious sauce Really, everything we have tried is good. Most recently we tried their Mango Lassi and I can tell you I will never go back without getting one now. Do yourself a favor and give this a shot. Although dine-in is currently closed, I do recommend trying dine-in when they are back open as it's BYOB and there's a liquor store next door. It's also great to ask for recommendations from the staff. The only dish I didn't completely love had shrimp in it, and I think I was spoiled by the good coast shrimp from living in Mississippi for a few years.

I've been meaning to try some more Indian places to eat, so I came here after being referred by a friend! Walked in and you immediately can smell the delicious food fill the air. At that point, I knew this place was legit. Started off dinner with the Bombay Brussel Sprouts. These were delicious as they were covered in a creamy mustard sauce! For my entrees, I first tried the Chilly Chicken, which is an Indo-Chinese dish. This one was a perfect mix of sweet & sour, really enjoyed the flavor! Next I tried the Achari Chicken, which is a North Indian dish, which is covered in spices and soaked in a tomato-based curry. This dish had a lot of flavor and went really well with the garlic naan and white rice! My server, Anubhav was amazing! Very knowledgeable and provided great recommendations and overall provided great customer service. All in all, I had a great time. I will be back!!

This is an old review. We went there 2 years ago. This was on Thanksgiving and the only indian/pakistani halal restaurant that was open at that time. I remember it was the best experience and best food we had had. Initially, we drove to Austin from Houston for the oasis, but that was closed too, and not finding anything else, we found this open. And I was so happy at the end of it all. The lady who served us was very nice too. Overall, it was a great experience and great food.

This is my favorite Indian restaurant in Austin!! First of all, the food. My gosh, I could eat this stuff everyday. You really can't go wrong here—I've loved every dish I've ordered. They also have an extensive selection of breads/pastries (clearly made in-house)—the saffron-stuffed naan is my personal favorite! And as if the food isn't enough of a draw, the wait service here is also consistently excellent. Even on their busiest days, they are very attentive about water refills, checking in on you, etc. The modern but homey interior is also a nice touch. I can't say enough good things about this place.

This place treats customers really, really well. There was a hiccup with my pickup order which required me to wait a couple minutes in-store. No big deal at all, and yet the staff gave me an extra dessert to apologize for the (tiny) delay! It was a kind, neighborly gesture that totally won me over. Then I got back home and discovered that everything tasted absolutely delicious. The samosas... Y'all, the samosas. I'm officially a fan, and I'll definitely be coming back soon to explore the menu's multiple vegan options.

The place is clean and simplistic so that’s a good about this place. Other than that I don’t think it is any different than the other Indian food places - overpriced and the dishes aren’t really that authentic. I guess most of the Indian restaurants in the US get readymade sauces and make the cliche’ed chicken tikka, etc. I mean that’s now how Indian people make Indian dishes. They make them from scratch. Anyways, the taste was descent but paying a fortune ~ $50 for 2 curries, some naan and some appetizers hmmm.. not sure about that. You spend that money in India - you will get a whole 5 course meal and unlimited desserts. Now people will argue - this isn’t India, and obtaining spices and goods is costly, blah blah, well what about other Asian dishes like authentic Chinese foods - they don’t cost a fortune? You can’t just charge a premium for the food because it is exotic Indian food. My search for a decent Indian restaurant in Austin continues.

This was our first time visiting Austin and we really enjoyed our dining experience at Saffron far west! The food was amazing. We ordered appetizers and then had the lunch buffet. The food was so flavorful and fresh! Absolutely delicious! The service was really good and our waitress was so kind and friendly! We will definitely go to Saffron far west again!

Some of the best Indian and Nepali I've had in Austin. The achari shrimp/chicken/lamb and the gobi manchurian are both excellent. Be wary of the music though, quite obnoxious and kinda killed the vibe. Overall fantastic experience, I would highly recommend

Food was excellent. But, the staff totally ignored us most of the time. It only takes my husband and I 1 hour to eat...no matter when or where we go. We were here for two hours because the staff kept looking past us. I noticed people who came in way after us leaving way before we could. I would have to consider very carefully before coming back here.

I was expecting the same experience based on the previous reviews and what a disappointment. The lamb was not succulent and the sauce did not taste authentic. If you have eaten really good Indian food outside the USA, don't get your hopes up at Saffron. I do not recommend this place for Indian cuisine.

We were visiting Austin for a short trip and it was the only Indian restaurant with exceptional service and quality of food. The flavors were spot on and most importantly the service was so warm and friendly. A must visit in Austin. The owner went out of the way to make us feel comfortable and ensured that our spice tolerance was taken into account. My 3 year old loved the food there too and that is quite rare !!! 5 starts all the way 🙌💫🙌

I wish I could give this restaurant 5 stars because the food was really good. The problem was that I felt such a huge disrespect when ordering my food. It was my first time going into this restaurant after speaking with lady at the desk. Horrible .. seems like she did not like my face.. straight rude and sort of felt raciest. So not sure if I am going back there again.

We are constant customers of Saffron and would generally give them 5 stars. Our last order however , disappointed : the mixed Tandori grill had dried out lamb , chicken that was not Tandori and 1 shrimp . And it was $24. Can’t recommend that dish 👎

I got food poisoning today from this location I’m not allergic to anything, 20 minutes after we left the restaurant, I immediately started feeling stomach pains. I’ve had Indian food before, and I had no problem with it. I called the restaurant and let them know my situation. I spoke to the manager and he told me to drink water. I’m writing a review. To warn Everyone that comes to this place. I would not risk it . I haven’t stopped throwing up ever since I got I’m on my way to the ER now I didn’t expect my Christmas to end like this legal action will be taken. Justice will be served.

Awesome Indian and Nepalese dishes. Their chicken tikka masala is really good and I enjoy their momos a lot. The chicken chow mein was surprisingly good as well! I haven't dined in but have ordered takeout a few times and I've always been satisfied. The portions are very generous as well.

They charged us for bottled waters that we didn't ask for or drink. One of the bottles was already opened. The guy kept trying to upsell the entire time. Really poor etiquette that ruined what otherwise would have been very good food.

My favorite Indian food in Austin so far! The hot is actually hot and the sauces are delicious. The entrees come with rice and the naan seems to be of comparable price to other Indian restaurants. Loved the creamy, smooth tikka masala sauce with the garlic naan. 100 percent would go back!

The good stuff is very *very* good. This tiny jewel of a BYOB serves some of the best Indian food in Austin. It's got a somewhat eclectic menu that doesn't really focus on a particular region, but does have the usual suspects (tandoori this, sag paneer that, etc.) The good stuff, as already mentioned, is very very good. The question tho' is "Which is the good stuff?", with the answer being "it varies". The only way to find out is to order a bunch-a things - some of which are most likely going to be great. Those items will continue to be great for a few weeks, when they mysteriously morph back into "ok, but not great", with something else taking over. Then again, this encourages experimenting, so maybe it's a feature?

  • 4/5 Saurav S. 5 years ago on Google
Most of the dishes were good, some were OK. My friends had a mixed opinion as well. But overall we had a good time. Staff is very friendly. If you want to experience some north indian food i would say that give this place a shot. I would definitely come back.

This is one of my favourite restaurants. They have the best Indian food in all of Texas here. Super spicy, so not great for people to have sensitive taste buds (not me!) Here they have a calm, quiet atmosphere with nice employees that can help with anything you want. They also refill water REALLY fast, so you can always drink water if things are too spicy. This place also serves Vegan and Vegetarian options.

  • 5/5 Debbie Z. 4 years ago on Google
Great food! Everything I've had here has been yummy! Last night, I had the Lamb Rogan Josh & it was as good as I remembered. My friend had the Coconut Mushroom Curry - I'm not vegetarian, but I would totally get that! And they have a lot of other vegetarian dishes. They are BYOB, so bring a bottle of wine & they will provide wine glasses.
