Hmmm... i think zouk has had it's day, in terms of the food service. (Promise the review is worth its length) I visited with family a couple of months ago on a Sunday for the Sunday Roast. The place was packed, and after ordering the Roast, i could see no justification for the demand 🤔 and table traffic. (Pics are lost somewhere in my gallery of food images) The Okra fries were surprisingly pleasant, but that was definitely it. I visited with a friend today. Ordered a mixed grill, salmon, and chicken biryani. The Salmon disappointingly is served without anything, anything at all. Considering the price... i would say at least a salad is warranted, at the very minimum. I struggled to find pieces of chicken in the biryani, (my calories mean alot to me, and i wanted to make my meal count) and what i did find was missing flavour and tasted gamey 🤢. Nice portion size though. The mixed grill was mehh... do not order, not worth it. The only item on the menu that did not disappoint was the orange juice! 😁always comes through.. 👊 Btw, ordered mocktails last time, expecting a frozen puree (strawberry daiquiri- i have had enough in life to know what to expect) what appeared by my elbow was a glass of watery 🍓cordial, that was overspilling on the table and making a mess... I mean honestly, if my friend who is an out of towner hadn't insisted, i really wouldn't have gone there. I feel so sad 😭 that i wasted my time and calories here. My question is.... why do people still dine here? Oh. And they implement a service charge..

Long story short: We left unwelcomed and disgusted. Most of us are Malaysians and Ramadan plays a big part in our country but we were treated very differently to those who were breaking fast or simply for sisha. One staff was particularly rude to us, the service was below par and the food was average. The long story: Booked a table of 5 for the buffet (£20 per person) online at 8:20pm as it was the sunset time. Went there and the manager automatically put us on a la carte and sent us to sit outside. We told him that we booked for the buffet but the only available space even with a booking was outside. We were given 3 tables of 2 beside an indoor heater but the tables couldn't be moved together so our group had to split up. Massive queue for the buffet in a very tight space bumping into each one. No staff was there managing the queue and it was a mess. Majority of the people in the queue were offered medjool dates but not us? We waited 25 minutes in the queue to reach the buffet. Not everything was labelled and most had been emptied but we picked whatever we could as we were all starving. One of our friends was running late and we were unsure if he still wanted the buffet because of the massive queue. When a staff came over to confirm how many people in our group, we told him the situation and his response was that it was OUR MISTAKE FOR BOOKING 5 PEOPLE FOR BUFFET. Other staff who was on their food break had to intervene and spoke to the particular staff in their own language - probably to tell him off for being rude or leave us alone whilst we eat. Our friend did join us few minutes later and he did queue for the buffet. He tried to order a drink at the bar but was told to order from a waiter. Three different waiters passed by our area and each time our friend ordered the same drink but none came back with the drink. It was until the fourth time he made the order with a member of staff (neither a waiter or the rude one) and that was when the drink finally arrived. Whilst we were still eating, the rude staff was attending a group of ladies for sisha and HE TOLD US TO MOVE OUT OF OUR SEATS for the ladies because of the indoor heater. Even the ladies saw it was wrong so we didn't move and carried on eating. No apologies from the rude staff. Food was really average; quite limited despite the high price tag and some meat were overcooked. Desserts felt like were from the wholesale and not homemade. Nobody took drink orders even if it was tap water. There were mango lassi in the buffet and that's all. We queued up to pay. Both the manager and a staff were making conversations with the customers who were paying. When it was our turn to pay, neither bothered asking us how we were or how the food was. They simply shoved the card machine to us to pay asap. Honestly, never expected to experience all this in Manchester city centre where it's the most diverse place it can be. We'd be treated far better in Curry Mile. One to avoid for sure.

Well deco restaurant. Great ambience. We reached the restaurant on Sunday 1pm and no waiting time for the table. Serving within 15 minutes upon ordering. We ordered Sunday Roast, the mini lamb roast. It was so well done. The fat and meat portion was roasted perfectly. The Yorkshire pudding was also nicely done. Every combination comes to perfection. WOW. 5 stars We noticed some couples who ordered a platter for 2 cannot finish as the portion was quite big. Unless you are big eater or else advisable stick to single portion.

Went to zoak for dinner all the way from 📍Peterborough and I wasn't disappointed. Food was absolutely delicious 😋. Atmosphere was nice and staffs were friendly. It's a bit pricey but I don't care if the food is good. I tried lamb Shank Biriyani, it was so flavourful. The presentation of the Biriyani was stunning. Must try 10/10. Prawns Biriyani was good as well. 9/10 Prawns curry with naan 9/10 Mixed grill 10/10 I loved Pina colada 10/10 Overall everything was good. (Poppadoms was finished before I took the picture 🤣) Will visit again when I'm in 📍Manchester..

We went for the Sunday roast of a whole chicken with a platter of sharing vegetables. The gravy was the highlight, rich with a mild spicy flavour. This is such great value and with an Indian twist on a classic English roast, can't wait to eat it again!

The service is very good. Food.. for an Indian palate.. is good. The veg biryani apparently 5/10. chicken biriyani was 7/10. Paneer 3/10 Lamb naan (calzone) 9/10. Long Island iced tea 8/10. Highlight. Will have to come back to try the remaining things. Parking payable before 8pm and is on the road adjacent.

We Went here last night. The presentation of the food was incredible, and the taste was outstanding. Not only is the restaurant stylish, but it's also obviously trendy. We didn't have any problems with the service, and at one point it seemed like we had four waiters attending to us! I would definitely recommend this place.

The place looks really nice, the staff very friendly however the food wasnt anything to shout about, decent food not worth the price tags thats for sure. Its highly rated but the food is just average they could do so much better, bit dissapointed by the whole experience tbh.

Calamari was rubbery, tandoori prawns were nice. Then we asked for a meat dish on the bone. They mentioned only the lamb sultani was on the bone. We assumed that at £12 it'd be enough for 2. Well, it wasn't even enough for one and bland. My vodka cocktail at £8 was fizzy water with a slice of lime. Decided to leave and decide what to order on ubereats while having shisha. Overheard the lady next to me asking the staff if her drink was sparkling water and that she ordered a cocktail. Staff were amazing though

I recently went to Zouk Tea Bar & Grill after a few days and was pleasantly surprised. I remembered not being impressed with the food during my previous visit, but this time around, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Despite the restaurant being busy, the service was efficient and our food arrived promptly. I have to say, the dishes were delicious and perfectly prepared. I would definitely recommend giving Zouk a try.

Came here for iftari, ordered from the menu, Chicken and meat mix khariy curry, chicken biryani, lamb chop starters and some chicken 65, the ambiance was great for the food was a massive let down. Starters were bland - the chicken was super tasteless which I was shocked and the biryani well let’s say uncles bens rice from a packet had more flavour. I will say the waiters were very nice. Don’t think I’ll be coming back anytime soon.

Heard good reviews but was disappointed when I went on Easter Sunday for Iftar. There wasn’t any dish that stood out. They were all mediocre. I probably need to go there on a normal day to see if they are any better…

Great service. Nice ambience. Food is alright. Enjoyed lamb chops and wagyu sliders. Chicken Biryani was decent and I would recommend medium or spicy. I saw other people order specialty items like stuffed lamb which looks intriguing!

Went here on Sunday for the popular roast! First impressions looking at the menu was - expensive!!! Mash potato is an additional side of £5 Cauliflower cheese is an additional side of £5 Therefore what you actually get for the price is not a lot. HOWEVER - I got the beef and it was good quality and a good amount, good gravy. My final let down was the Yorkshire puddings and the roast potatoes were from frozen, not home made which I didn’t expect for the price! They added service charge on themselves. I would go back though!

I recently dined at this restaurant with a large group of 10 and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and service. Each dish came out fresh and at the same time, which was quite impressive. I highly recommend starting off with the Tava Lamb - it was simply delicious and definitely worth trying! Additionally, the curry dishes were some of the best I've tasted, and I would easily place them in my top five. The team did an amazing job and provided great service throughout our visit. I'm already looking forward to returning and trying out more of the menu.

Would NOT recommend for “traditional Indian and Pakistani food” Visited Zouk for a special occasion a few days back coz had heard and seen a lot about it on the internet but the hype was definitely not worth it. The food lacked salt and taste, we asked them to make it spicy and looked like they only added chillies and forgot to balance the taste. Even the mocktails that we ordered were not of a good taste. On top of all this the price was on the higher side. The staff was also not really welcoming and just wanted to be done with their work for the day. I wish I could pick a better place for my day. If you’re looking for authentic Indian food then this definitely is not the place I’d recommend. You can get better taste at a way cheaper price than this. NOT worth the money I spent 🥲

We attended the vegetarian cooking class today and it was absolutely amazing! (I am vegan so they kindly adapted the menu for me) I would 100% recommend the experience, we had so much fun! We learned how to prepare two starters and three main courses, how to combine the spices to enhance the flavours, we saw how to prepare naan and roti in the traditional tandoori oven and in the end we ate what we prepared! We also had leftovers to bring home and no food was wasted, so we loved this experience even more!

My mum won a competition to visit Zouk tea bar and grill for a free dessert and milkshake each. We had never been down this area of Manchester before but was pleasantly surprised by what we found. The outside was adorned in a gorgeous flower wall and the inside was decorated very nice too. There were some delicious dessert choices and after a long deliberation I decided on the white and gold chocolate bauble and mum went for the crème brûlée. We both had chocolate milkshakes. Honestly everything was divine. My dessert was a white chocolate ball with caramel mousse inside and adorned with biscuit crumb and caramel sauce, one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. Mums crème brûlée was amazing too. And the milkshakes were decadent to say the least. Highly recommend this place! P.s if you visit, go to the toilets, I’ve never seen anything like them in my life!

Me and my husband visited zouk for our 5th year anniversary, food was incredible! Service was excellent , Tamara was so professional and she served with a beautiful smile throughout! Rama Jeyam makes the greatest cocktails, mocktails and drinks. Loved this place , decor was amazing! Owner himself so friendly! Deserts were unreal! Wouldn’t change anything about our whole experience at Zouk. YOU MUST GO!

Indian cuisine. Had the king prawns and samosa as starters - not bad. But expecting the king prawns to be bigger.. Mains - chicken masala, black pepper lamb and the chicken korma. Other than the chicken korma being way too sweet, the curries are tasty! Perfect with nan! -1 star for getting the food order wrong and forgetting to change it in the final bill. -1 star for dirty glass (see pic).. wonder if they even wash it... -1 star for waiter keep hitting my back getting across the aisles

Do not use this company for catering! They ripped us off and confirmed that there would be 15 staff at our wedding. There was only 4 in the kitchen and 4 waiting an entire wedding of 190 guests. Food was very slow and cold. Staff were caught smoking weed, drinking our drinks and videoing guests at our wedding. We paid a premium price for 5 lamb shanks per table and there were either 1 or 3 on each table and they were burnt! Alot of guests received no starters at all. The staff were completely ignorant and we will not be using them again and would not recommend them to anyone. We raised these concerns with one of the owners and they refused to give us a part refund! All the guests complained about the food and the service.

Loved our experience at Zouk tonight. The place was lovely and spacious. The service was top notch! Our waiter was fantastic and helpful, kept asking how everything was and if we needed anything. Food arrived hot and promptly. The lamb biryani was our favourite dish with plenty of meat. We also had the garlic & coriander naan with butter chicken which were good. There was a wide selection of foods and drinks to choose from. There were plenty of mocktail options which was considerate of those who don’t prefer alcohol. We had a shisha later outdoors that was also great; again the service was fantastic and the seating area well-designed with nice music in the background. We were checked on regularly with the coal pieces replaced & shisha fixed whenever it started to burn. Plenty of blankets and heaters outdoors to keep warm. We were treated with a complementary desi chai that was lovely. Honestly, I would recommend this place. You would get good value for the money spent as the service was excellent, making all the difference. The food was great quality & taste with plenty of options and the vibes/ambience was chill and fun 👍🏻

I would confidently rate this establishment a five-star for providing the best customer service experience I have ever received anywhere, without exception. From my initial phone call to meeting the ever-gracious Maria in person, as well as the attentive waitstaff, nothing was too much trouble for them. The ambiance of Zouk Tea Bar & Grill restaurant was pleasant, however, the food prices are slightly steep, which is to be expected when dining at a high-end establishment like this. Although, it is worth mentioning that there are other places in Manchester that offer better value for money with regards to food. Nonetheless, the impeccable service makes this place worth visiting.

This establishment has a fantastic ambiance that sets the perfect tone for a memorable dining experience. You won't have to wait excessively long for your meal, and when it arrives, you'll be pleased to discover that the food quality is top-notch. The meats are exceptionally tender and cooked to perfection. However, their steak menus are priced slightly higher than some other comparable steakhouses. Nevertheless, this is an excellent option for groups who want to indulge in large platters and share a meal together.

I had the pleasure of dining at this exceptional restaurant, offering a superb atmosphere for a delightful dining experience. Their menu features delectable Halal cuisine from both Indian and Pakistani cultures, and it was my inaugural experience trying this type of food. I must say, the flavors were outstanding and left me wanting more.

The ambience is pretty nice. We ordered biryani, butter chicken bao buns, tandoori prawns and mixed grill. Tandoori prawns and lamb chops were my absolute favourite. The flavour is amazing. Overall food is good but quite expensive. Don’t recommend getting the butter chicken bao buns.

Lovely side spot in Manchester just out of the way enough to not be overpopulated. Very friendly staff with beautiful seasonal decor and a grand facade (great for photos). Food arrived fast, beef steak was a little tough to cut but nothing to mark down on, table was a little small for the platter sizes however. Overall happy with the service and food, slightly pricey but still a good visit for a gathering meal or event.

We went to this restaurant with high expectations due to the decor and recommendations. The food was nothing special although the presentation was excellent. Staff was pleasant and helpful and the atmosphere was chilled. We ordered a Platter for 2 along with Nihari and Garlic Nan Bread. The Nihari was tasty and has a rich texture although the Garlic Nan Bread was too oily. The Lamb, Chicken and vegetables in the Platter dish was cooked to perfection and tasty. There was plenty of sauces available and the Popodoms were fantastic! The prices were of course on the high side as we were in Manchester City Centre. Parking is limited directly outside the restaurant but you can wait a short while as the spaces do free up constantly. Give this place a try as it's a great place to visit with friends and family as the menu has a lot to offer 😋

We had a Sunday roast (1 x lamb 1 x beef) £25 each. Presentation was good and portion size was more than enough, you can get a shared platter for 2 which is £30 (£15 each) but we wanted different meats. Cocktails was very good and we both enjoyed our deserts. Atmosphere was nice chilled and relaxed even though every table was full, service was good but be expected to be asked if you want anything of every waiter that passes. We are booking again for the curry and would definitely recommend yo family and friends.

Very good food and very friendly staff indeed. The interior is tired and looks dated anymore, it has not been refurbished in many years but is still clean. The food is very good indeed and the service was good. Prices for the steaks are high but everything is very expensive in England at the moment and prices are not extortionate. We have been coming to this place for a very long time and the food is pretty much always consistently good. Recommended place for Indian and Pakistani cuisine. Regards

Fabulous place with delicious Indian food. Service was great. We came at 4pm for pre-theatre menu where you pay £20 for 2 courses or £25 for 3 courses (menu available daily 4-7pm). Our group of 4 was delighted with lamb dishes and desserts. Took a bit longer than expected to wait for food to come out but was worth it. Full and happy bellies, thank you!

A lovely Sunday roast (Halal) - the chicken was flavoursome and love that the roast comes with two gravys!! One had a lovely kick to it which added the extra flavour to the lamb which was soft and tender. Great service from Swarmy - made sure everything was okay from our drinks, mains and to tea and dessert.

Great food can't fault it. Service is excellent staff are great. Only 2 reasons I'm giving this a 4 star and not 5 is because they take a tad too long making food & it is kinda pricey. But then again us northerners are kinda stingy so each to their own.

We visited Zouk 24.07.20 after spending the day at Chester Oaks. After waiting in the queue to eat in our first choice restaurant "Etçi Mehmet" and being 4th in the queue and realising after 30 minutes that it hadn't moved, I decided to try next door and eat at Zouk. It'd been a long day and my Wife, Son, pregnant Daughter and Grandson were hungry....."Big mistake" Where do I start. Alarm bells should've sounded when I walked through what could only be described as 2 airport style metal detectors forming a tunnel with "butchers fridge" style polycarbonate perspex sheets hanging down at each end. After walking through the sheets like a contestant on cilla blacks "surprise surprise" I was greeted by the sight of a school hall style kitchen layout with the kitchen open plan behind a 3 foot dwarf wall. The seating areas opposite were configured in one long row facing the kitchens with cubicles at the far end. We were seated in the cubicles directly underneath an ice cold aircon unit that looking up, i noticed i wasn't the only one as there were at least 20 within the restaurant. We ordered the food via an app that we had to download....weird! And at no point did we know what size the food serving would be and neither were the staff able to tell us. It was just hand gestures gesturing, "It's about that big" This is fundamental as you need to know you've ordered enough or too much. We eventually ordered:- Starters 2 poppadoms Mixed grill Portion of lamb chops. Main Boneless Lamb Karahi Chicken Karahi Boiled rice 2 Tandoori Rotis 4 Portions of fries Half Peri Peri chicken Drinks 4 cokes The bill came to £75 The starters evetually arrived after waiting 45 minutes and asking the waitiers 3 times "How long" only to be told "sorry but its a queue system and we don't know" The Lamb chops and mixed grill arrived....finally less the poppadoms. We also had to ask for plates Did they expect us to pick from Lamb chops £4.99 3 lamb chops, not the best but passable as ok. The salad consisted of 10 strings of carrot and a couple of very small green leaves, with a small metal container half filled with mint sauce. Mixed grill £8.95 1 lamb chop 1 chicken sheesh 1 chicken drum stick 1 chicken tikka piece Garnish 3 Green leaves Not too bad but for £8.95?, In the immortal words of Macaulay Culkin, "I don't think so" This wasn't a high class restaurant but yet the portion size for cost was set up to make ypu think you were. Pity the quality was no where near. Main course arrived 15 minutes after we'd finished the starters (approximately 1.25hrs after arriving) Main course Lamb Karahi Not bad at all to be fair Quite flavoursome and a portion size you'd expect. Price was a little too high again at £11.95 Also there was some bone in there, so much for boneless. Chicken Karahi I cant really comment too much as the wife didn't really eat it which is usually bad sign as that's her favourite. My son did eat it and he's 17, his reply was, "its alright, I've had better" It looked OK but that doesn't say much but my wife did say it wasn't very flavoursome and quite bland. The boiled rice was then used as filler and she wasn't happy. Fries Home-made and cut chips presented in small representations of frying baskets which was a nice touch with grease proof paper but the chips themselves were very greasey and very average in flavour with a number that were burnt to a crisp. Still no poppadoms and we had to mention it again to the waiter who then finally bought them over. My sons words were, "Dad I dare you to eat the poppadoms" According to my wife and son they were awful. My daughter didn't risk eating them and neither did I The drinks 4 cokes in small bottles with straws and very large glass with ice. After we finished and left via another restaurant in Birmingham to get something for my wife Rather than being CONDESCENDING to criticism of your food if you'd focused on the issues raised by my family and clearly others maybe you'd find fewer poor reviews? Maybe address the 10% service charge? Food Quality? Cost?

Great service. Waited for a table downstairs for 45 minutes after our 9pm booking time. The food was okay, not worth the price or the 1 hour wait after ordering. Loved the naan, the mocktails were okay. The starters and mains weren't particularly tasty. The lamb karahi and the black pepper lamb was the same, the only difference was the black pepper sprinkled on top of the other dish. Chicken steak was a bit dry. The chicken shwarma was empty, have had a better shwarma from a local takeaway. We learnt that most dishes are pre-made as we requested no nuts in the dishes, but was not possible for most of them. The tandoori roti didn't arrive until after we all nearly finished the mains. Left the restaurant fairly disappointed in the food.

My friends and I dine here often but our recent visit left us feeling upset and frustrated. The service was appalling. 1. The waiter dropped dirty cutlery on one of us as he decided to pile all the cutlery on a small starter plate. Another waiter had to come rushing over to help. 2. We had to wait 50 minutes for the mains. 3. Our drinks order was wrong twice after a long wait. 4. The sea bass that I ordered (my usual order) was soggy and overcooked. 4. During sheesha, a hot coal was dropped on my friends leg and bounced across on the seat. This happens as the waiter came to sort the coals out. Rather than taking the sheesha off the table and sorting the coals, he decided to pick them whilst on the table. He did not seem bothered at all. We quoted the decent thing to do was to at least apologise. He denied that the coal hit my friends leg and was very argumentative. He basically just said, ‘Go, Bye.’ The waiter did not apologise and here we decided to leave. The customers sat opposite were absolutely shocked by his reaction. Couldn’t believe the attitude of this particular staff member. Will be telling family and friends not to visit this restaurant.

Hi, me and a group of friends visited Zouks Bbar today, we were completely appalled with the service and products we received. We booked from beforehand for 6 people, when we arrived, the table was not ready and had to wait, in the end we were seated, sorry squeezed in* on a bench which apparently the staff had to move previously seated customers for us when there was a completely spacey enough booth which would’ve been perfect for the party and only one person sat on that booth. I don’t understand how when we had booked yet that booth was not reserved for us? Once we mentioned to the staff to move us to that booth they informed that it was in fact reserved for another party who was coming in soon! Not only this, we had to wait for at least 15 minutes for a drink, normal service procedures in restaurants is that you receive drinks, then shisha and then the food but unfortunately that was reversed with your customer services where we received food then shisha and then drinks. Food was not up to your standards. We only ordered two portions of lamb chops which should be simple enough to make. The shisha was disgustingly bad, I mentioned this multiple times to your staff their response was “oh that’s the flavour”, I smoke shisha nearly on a daily basis and what I smoked was not what I’d accept as a shisha. The very least your staff can do is see if they can get someone to check if there’s anything wrong with the shisha or offer to change the head - we complained 5 minutes after we received it. And don’t get me started on the espresso martini it tasted very very watery and hands down the worst espresso martini I’ve drank. On top of all of this... my friend ordered a milkshake that he never received!! I made all these clear to one of your member of staff when getting the bill, she kindly apologised and said it’s not normally like this but at the same time it seemed like she didn’t know how to handle with our complaint. It is common courtesy that when a customer is not satisfied with the level of service, a manager is called over and would reimburse to compensate for the poor service. Unfortunately this has been a terrible experience at your tea bar and I will be highlighting this experience to any of my friends considering visiting your premises... I messaged your Instagram page highlighting all of these complaints however no response were given despite the fact that the page was active. It’s nice to see how much Zouk’s values their customers... In response to the owners comment below, I received a response from the owner on Instagram after I had posted this review. However as I mentioned through the Instagram account, the staff did not do enough and extend their courtesies as no managers dealt with our complaint apart from the lady taking our payment, and even then it was not satisfactory as she was only interested in taking the payment unfortunately.

First time visiting this place after hearing some good things about it. Unfortunately my experience was terrible. I booked for a large group on a Monday evening taking advantage of the help out to eat scheme. Between the group we ordered curries and burgers. The curries we ordered was ok. Nothing’s special, No complaints. A few of us ordered burgers. They all arrived at different times and all arrived burnt. After we complained, they were replaced. We had to chase these up several times with the staff to a point we decided to take them out because everyone else had finished eating. I ordered the ocean platter, sounds great at a whopping £18.95 but again, unfortunately this also arrived black and burnt. Very disappointed. Finally, when the bill arrived, we were surprised the prices didn’t match the website! The price difference is between £1-3 higher per item compared to the website. Overall, based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend this place. The service was substandard and everything off the grill was un-eatable. The staff that served our table seemed nice and it was obvious they were struggling to keep up. I didn’t see any additional cleaning regime as the owners state. Bit worrying during COVID. If the owners make one improvement, please open another door to let people and in and out as the the one you have has a bottle neck and people are brushing past each other as they come and go and there is no safety measure in place at all.

Good booking. Very welcoming. Food quality is quite good and would recommend to others. Clean. I’d visit again Areas of improvement: waiters customer service could do with improvement

  • 1/5 Anees B. 3 years ago on Google
Heavily under staffed. Even with bookings they will keep u waiting over an hour. Waiters will ignore you. Don't come during covid there are no measures in place. The worst part is the wait. To get a seat, for food, to pay.

Poor and expensive. Chicken was dry in the curry like it hadn't been cooked fresh and just add when someone orders. Curry was swimming in oil. Naan bread was cold and rice was just about warm. Overall very poor. I've had loads better for cheaper. I wouldn't go back.

One of my favourite restaurants ever. The roti and lamb nehari are incredible!!

  • 1/5 Khyyber 3 years ago on Google
Food was below average and not flavourful at all. The prawn dynamite was a poor replication - we got a small portion of barely cooked prawns drowning in burger sauce.. for £8!! Overpriced and not authentic Asian food - no thanks

Visited on 12th July. Starter of tandoori mix was burnt and raw. Fried chicken you can make it better at home. Nehari was standard. Had to pay £ 8 service charge. Best was tandoori rotie loved it.

worst place I was, in terms of customer service ,no explanation I ordered twa they didn't explain they dont do teapots ,they brought me glass with tea bag and mint leaves inside for £.3.50 samr price as the teapot but less for the same price. Food prices are very similar as posh restaurants taking into account you need to order sides separate,it cost same as if you were to go to the ivy or 20 stories , waiters don't come to check on you or take the plates. The public who visits is awful too there were sitting group of guys who took their shoes of then started to argue and jump over the restaurant barrier. Never ever again and they charge service charge too waste of money

  • 1/5 Imran K. 3 years ago on Google
Very low value for money. The poor quality of the food doesn’t match the high prices.

Food was OK, they have been better. I requested the waiter to fill my 14 month old baby bottle up with water but he said they are not allowed just in case something happens (I am assuming covid) but on the other hand they could make us mojitos and other drinks which is bizarre. I guess it was there way of making money as we then had to buy a bottle of voss water.

  • 1/5 Dave E. 3 years ago on Google
Ordered from just eat. Took forever to attempt delivery and failed miserably. Whilst not directly the restaurants fault they also couldn't care in the slightest as when called just said "ring just eat not our problem we just cook it". Won't be cooking anything for me again!

Great food can't fault it. Service is excellent staff are great. Only 2 reasons I'm giving this a 4 star and not 5 is because they take a tad too long making food & it is kinda pricey. But then again us northerners are kinda stingy so each to their own.

Just bad. Seafood overcooked, tough and dry. Somehow managed to mess up poppadums, arrived with burned edges and almost certainly stale. The Jalfrezi, no exaggeration, was about 5% sauce / 95% oil; chicken was breaking up like it had been sitting in water for days and there.was.no.flavour.

Three of us had dinner here on Friday 20th March 2020. Long story short, we paid £56 for our food after asking for the service charge to be removed, and it was a complete waste of money. The food was not freshly made, seemed microwaved, luke warm and of a poor quality (cheapest rice grains used, not long grain). The worst part is, we were so hungry after such a long journey that we just ate the food without complaint, paid and left. It's now been 3 days since, we have spent the past 3 days severely ill with food poisoning, I suspect the chicken wasn't cooked all the way through. This is NOT due to Corona, this is vomiting, nausea, diarrhoea. The only reason we ate here was because I remember eating here years ago when it was under different ownership and it was world class. To the management at Zouk, I would like a response and a refund to be arranged ASAP, I do not want to quarrel with any arrogant men over this as this is the absolute least you can do. If I don't hear anything back, I shall be contacting the FSA and halal food guides on social media to let them know about our experience. Thank you.

Honestly a horrible experience. 10/10 would NOT recommend. We were asked to wait for a table and they served people that came after us. They literally disregarded us until we asked again about a table. Once we got a table, it took them forever to take our order. There is no professionalism within the customer service provided. We ended up staying at the restaurant for an hour and we left without even eating because it took so long.

Lovely set up and fantastic staff. I had the dynamite shrimp (which was to die for) and chicken shwarma (delish). The setting is lovely and the restaurant has a great atmosphere however food is 'okay' and is quite a busy place with hard to find parking outside (there is pay and display street parking but very tight) advise you come earlier than your reservation. It was a beautiful restaurant with Indian cuisines. Everywhere was well decorated and everything appealing. The food was good, I really enjoyed the mushroom rice and a sauce that's definitely got Zouk Special attached to its name as I can't remember what its called right now. However, you can't miss it in the menu and it's definitely worth a try. The mohitto's were delicious too. However the definition of steamed vegetables is literal because what you'll be served is steamed brocolli with stalks and whole unpeeled carrots. Unless you're down for things like that, don't ask for steamed veggies. I'll definitely go back again for the same thing I had. Would recommend.

The restaurant design is amazing, the staff is friendly. What I did like most is that the owner of restaurant himself checks with guests how was the food, place, and also friendly and welcoming to the guests. Definitely I will visit the restaurant again to try more main courses.

Honest review: The place looked decent but im afraid it is very over hyped. The mixed grill was decent but sadly the rest not so much. Ordered the curry as extra hot but all came as bland. One even tasted sweet. It was like 2 in one. A curry and a dessert in one dish. The only thing with passion there was the fruit. Even the mocktail was shockingly sour. Felt like i just had an operation on my throat after having it.😬 Also ordered a cake for 23rd bday but by the time it would have come, it would have been the 25th bday so had to cancel.. Really over-rated and a let down.😐😔

After reading all of the reviews I was skeptical but decided to give it a go. The ambience was loud and cafe like. The tables were packed together like a school canteen. After ordering the roast platter I was pleased to find the food was very tasty and service was quick. The problem was the platter £100 was hugely overpriced for the amount of food you got. Bear in mind you can get a chicken for £3 there was a measley amount of roasties and enough veg for 1 person. Was supposed to feed 4 people. Total rip off. Dont waste your money

Amazing food and service. Restaurant was very busy but service and food quality was great. We got popadoms and pickles to start then Dum Bukht, Butter Chicken and Lamb Biryani and mango lassi. Everything was really good and quantity was very big except mango salad which was not good (too onion-y). Only thing is that it’s very loud in the restaurant so I wouldnt recommend it if you are looking for a quiet dinner.

Heard about this place through a friend, I was visiting UK, so I thought I would try it. Booking was online and easy enough to do. The Sunday roast was the main reason We went. It was ok. Full trimmings served with it. The menu itself had Asian food as well as the twist with English roast. The restrooms could do with some attention! Don't suit the rest of the decor! The servers were attentive and I would recommend Zouk and visit again.

Was recommended to go for lunch by a friend and was not disappointed. The Tiffin lunch menu was perfectly proportioned and priced. A delicious selection of small chicken (and a lamb) dishes with bread and rice. We couldn’t resist an additional plate of chargrilled King Prawns. It’s a big, smart space - although going through some refurbishment (this didn’t spoil the experience). Terrace space for shisha in the summer). Added the ‘photos at my last visit!

Good food, a little pricey may be ( I might be wrong ) but good food and good portions. Atmosphere nice too. Too long waiting times between starter and mains ( it took 50 minutes for us, cannot say anything about other customers ) booked via open table, sent message as couldn’t get hold of anyone. Requested certain Roast however message never reached to reception. May be something to work on. Would recommend on the basis of good food.

We are regulars at Zouks. On arrival we were treated decently. Once the server noticed us drinking he then brought us champagne on order. He brought us one we did not ask for and then proceeded to open it. We had a look at the bottle as it didn’t taste like Laurent Perrier and to be sure it wasn’t. We were brought a cheaper bottle. The waiter instead of apologising when we raised it, claimed he knew we would like it. We sent the bottle back and Adam, the server could see we did not drink it but proceeded to keep it on the bill. We were not made aware they did not have the correct champagne and were not offered the choice of other bottles but instead the wrong bottle was opened and we were charged. We were also charged for other stuff not required or made aware of but the champagne was £90 and entirely wasted. It’s outrageous

Not sure what happened when I visited (early evening, Sep 2023)- I was looking forward to it a lot as I used to come regularly back in 2015-16. Ordered popadoms, but strangely they got delivered to me with no pickle tray- this never happens- here, the pickle tray is excellent. Why did that happen? Nobody was around to ask while I sat there dumbfounded eating dry popadoms. I ordered the signature Jalfrezi, it used to be a work of culinary curry art with an egg in the middle- on this occasion it was a ghastly oily mess, with bits of chicken swimming in oil with no coherent sauce. Very disappointing. When the waiter came to ask if I had finished I showed him the oil and asked ‘is this ok to you?’ He just shrugged. Paid up and left. Zouk, what’s happened to you???

Very disappointed with our visit, we booked a reservation for 8 and paid £40 for it and were told to just grab a drink whilst we waited for the table. 15 mins in they then said itll be another 15 minutes. After this had passed we were told the table was getting ready now and were lied too. We waited again and the wait staff said they were coming back with an estimated time and they never did. We went back up after 50 minutes and were told it would be another 10 minutes. We cut our losses and left at this point. Very disappointed.
