The bridge is one of 4 bridges linking Howrah and Kolkata. It is a multispan steel bridge and was built to provide road and rail links between Howrah and Kolkata...This is one of the oldest bridges of India, near Dakshineswar. It has both railway track and road for bus, car etc. Goods vehicles are not allowed over this age old bridge. View of Dakshineswar Kali temple and the Ganges is great!

Nice and a good place for morning walks along with the cool wind of the Ganges flowing below it. Also this bridge is very very important because it helps in shortening the route from Howrah station to Kolkata airport which is a very long journey. But now, passengers can go easily to airport by first going to Bally station and then going directly to the airport in a short period of time. Thanks to this bridge. Not only this but also, the very famous Dakhinashwar temple is also very close to it. Lots of devotees come here for the 'darshan' of Goddess Kali.

If you want to cross Ganges by road before howrah this is the only option. If you are traveling from dankuni - sealdah and vice versa you can cross this bridge by train. On the evenings and mornings many people go there for walks you can see a lot of people just enjoying the view.

New bridge that has a train track and also road connectivity with the Holy Dakhineswar Mandir on one side and Uttarapara on the other. Train station right across from the bridge. Great scenic views. Safe broad pedestrian path too. Good work done by Mamta Banerjee govt with this bridge.

Walk, drive or take the train across the impressive Vivekananda Setu(also known as Bally Bridge or Willingdon Bridge),one of several bridges on the Hooghly that straddles the Hooghly River. This multi-span crossing links Dakshineswar in Kolkata with Bally in the Howrah district. This striking-looking steel bridge provides a great vantage point to view life on the Hooghly River, the body of water that flows along the western edge of Kolkata. You can also pass under the bridge by renting a boat from one of the river’s jetties or by taking a cruise from Kolkata. To admire this impressive engineering feat up close, stroll along the walkway and pause to study the network of girders. Take your time to enjoy the views of river life. See dozens of boats making their way downstream and upstream and observe the bathing ghats, which are steps that lead down into the river. At night, the Bally Bridge presents an even more stunning site when its latticework of beams, struts and girders is illuminated.

It's an age old bridge connecting kolkata with Hooghly and Howrah. Besides the road bridge it also has a railway bridge. Importantly, this is the only railway bridge connecting kolkata with the other side of the river Ganges. When one passing the bridge, can visualize the 'Bhavatarini temple ' on the left side. At tidal wave the river looks very beautiful from the bridge. The modern 'Nivedita setu' ( bridge) is constructed beside the old bridge.

The Nivedita Setu or Bridge is known by so many names..The Bally Bridge , The second Vivekananda Setu and so on. This is a cable stayed bridge and has been constructed to ease the pressure of the actual Vivekananda Setu ,which is about 50 meters away .It is very new and around 48000 vehicles are expected to use this bridge everyday. However, as of now there's hardly any traffic so driving down is a pleasurable experience and the reason is the toll which you have to pay. People prefer using the Vivekananda Setu, where there's no toll collection.

Vivekananda Bridge also known as Bally Bridge is a combined road and rail bridge over Hooghly River to connect Bally, Howrah and Dakshineswar, North 24 Parganas. It is a great piece of architecture in West Bengal. This bridge is complete on 1932. For old age of the bridge heavy vehicles are restricted on the bridge.
