Best place to stay peacefully in weekend in this (1) Rupnarayan Tourists Lodge of West Bengal Government. (2) Meal system is there. And just great 💖😍🥰👌👍 (3) Rooms are nice rent was Rs:700/-+tax=732/- with river facing balcony. (4) Parks are there for children to play and seating arrangements are there beside the Rupnarayan River. (5) Can go in cars/CSTC buses. (6) Or from Diamond Harbour Rly Station take local bus to Noorpur Ferry Ghat. Then from there enjoying the steamer ride for 5-10mins (Fare was Rs:7/-) reach Gadiara Ferry Ghat. And from there it is a 3-5mins walking distance. (7)They have AC cottages/ build separately. (See my pictures) (8) Must visit during Rath Yatra the famous Mahisadal Raj Bari Mela & Rath Yatra 💖😍👍👌 (9) Their royal chariot is beautifully crafted and better to Mahesher Rath of Shrirampur, Hooghly. (10) Must see the Rajbari Rooms-2 & 3 specially ok. They are thrilling and chilling and I love them very much 💖😍👌 Entry ticket is just Rs:10/-.

    (Translated by Google) Located at the southernmost end of Howrah district (Shampur-1 block). The confluence of the Rupnarayan and Hooghly rivers. Well known as a winter tourist destination. Communication is good - there are bus services with Bagnan, Uluberia and Kolkata. Overnight arrangements are in place.

Gadiara is a small village at the confluence of the Hooghly and Rupnarayan rivers. Gadiara is one of the most beautiful and popular picnic spots in Howrah district. The ruins of Fort Mornington Point built by Lord Clive, and the lighthouse are the prominent attractions. Mayachar, a sprawling sandbank on the Rupnarayan River, is an interesting spot to idle on the secluded beach. Watching both the sunrise and sunset at the confluence of the rivers is a wonderful experience.

Excellent place to handout with friends & family, best view specious rooms, food quality is good(though you haven't an alternative options as it's interior location) Staff are not at all professional, they closed the restaurant by 9pm. It's a must visit place for a short trip

The place is very calm . Sound pollution is almost nil, the river flows so there is a cool wind blowing and there are very few settlements nearby. The villages are at a few minutes distance away. There are small stalls of tea and coconut water by the riverside. We went there for our college picnic and it was a very pleasant experience. It was winter and the temperature was perfect. We booked the tourist place . There were large fields inside , gardens, a pond, handmade crafts, hotel and resting places. One can take badminton or foortball, basketball etc to play. The place offers a peaceful experience. The people there are very well behaved. The place is accessible by buses and cars. So any mode of transportation is convenient. One can take a train also (please make sure of the route, I am not much aware of that). Overall, this place is suitable for a weekend trip with family, friends, close people etc. I am not sure of there are places for couple stay as there are not much hotels. Gadiara is well maintained and clean.

The actual place of attraction is the resort and not the riverside. The resort in itself is highly overrated, it just looks clean and hygienic from outside but neither the surroundings nor the food is hygienic. To sum up and describe the whole area in a few words is ‘all that glitters is not gold’ so think twice before planning a trip there. The road up to the resort is a narrow single lane road.

Nice place to visit over weekend... Comfortable hotel rooms with parking facilities... Children playing ground available... Location wise it's a very good position the bank of hooghly river but just junction of hooghly and rupnarayan. One can find scenic beauty of full moon at night by staying the hotel room or bank of river.

It's okay to stay here with family for a short trip. Good rooms available - more over that , good staffs are there. But - fooding cost here is too much. Like 1 PIECE OF ROTI COSTS 13RS (you read it right) , DAAL - 62 RS , 1 PIECE PARATHA - 23RS. Atleast I'll suggest you guys to have your lunch/dinner at the nearest bustand hotels. Very reasonable price and foods available there are very delicious

Food was average and charged too much. The rooms were okay-ish. Also the hygiene wasn't maintained although being a resort under West Bengal government. The road to this resort is also very narrow. Other than small cars, only rickshaws and toto.

  • 4/5 DrDebrup C. 6 years ago on Google
Beautiful place. I would really appreciate if WB government makes some effort to upgrade the road which is presently pretty narrow and without proper illumination. It is pretty risky to drive in it if a bus or a truck comes from the opposite side.. Atleast the connecting roads from the high way should be broadmed

It's a large stretch of land with buildings right on the bank of Rupnarayan River near to jetty. Location wise very good. Food is also good & homely. However the property requires urgent renovation work. Seems that Cyclone Aila had damaged this beautiful property of WBTDCL which is yet to be restored by the tourism department, GoWB.

I gave one star only because i cannot put zero star. Worst experience ever. The place is like dustbin. Zero maintenance. Stagnant water creates mosquitoes. Food of the resturant is over priced. 1 plate egg pakora( containing 2 eggs and plain besan/ gram flour coating) costs 100 rupees and over it takes 5% gst. In case of gst they are just looting. They separate the gst as per norms 2.5% cgst and 2.5% sgst and then they charge 3 rupee each as 50 paisa is invalid. Instead of taking 5 rupees gst they are taking 6 rupees gst for 100 rupees platter.

Food was good, location was last among all hotels. More maintenance is required as I can see some place color was damaged. Amenities excellent and scenic beauty awesome.

  • 4/5 Sourav M. 5 years ago on Google
Beautiful place at the junction of river Hooghly & Rupnarayan. Also a popular picnic spot in winter. Both riverway and roadway transport facilities available. One can enjoy the serene beauty of the Ganges here. Every now & then boats are passing by. Also cargo ships use this river to go to Budge Budge & Khidderpore dock. Also lodging facility is available nearby. All in all it's a nice place to hangout. Direct bus service from Kolkata is also available.

Nice place for weekend tour. But you should have to stay at your hotel or lodge from the evening b'caus there is no lighting along the bank of the river. I don't know why !
