I had a good experience visiting St Paul cathedral with my family. The place maintains the sanctity of the cathedral at the same time open for Everyone to come and witness the beautiful building structures and the architecture. Outside the church there is small stall where you can buy some souvenirs and take. There is also small children park and a place to burn candles and offer prayers. Entrance fee was only 10rs per person which I feel was good because it's a place of worship. Overall my experience 9/10.

For starters, it’s a place for worship and it should be respected as such. Like any religious place, the universal decorum is expected. Pointers: 1) It’s right next to Birla Planetarium. 2) As far as I remember, the entry ticket is 20₹ per head. 3) Renovations are ongoing so expect out of bounds places. 4) There is a nice lady who has a small kiosk at the exit of cathedral. You can get coffee or tea there. 5) It’s a place for reflection. Reflect more than taking pictures. Enjoy. Peace Out!

Religious place for Christian people. Very clean and nice ambience. I attended diocesan festival. It takes place every year on 1st Sunday of December month. So many food stalls are set up temporarily in ground. Children perform cultural activities. People offer prayers. There is souvenir shop just opposite main door of church. If you want you can buy various types of souvenir

I have been wanting to visit St Paul's cathedral for a while and managed to visit this weekend. As it was Christmas it was super crowded. But the church is beautiful, inside and outside. But I want to visit again on a less crowded day to fully savor the beauty. The stained glass windows are beautiful and the exterior still a well maintained white.

A very beautiful and peaceful place to spend your day alone or with family or friends. I personally loved this place. I have been there many times. It's one of the "Must-visit" place of Kolkata. This architecture is always under protection and it's well looked after by the Government. The inside view of this place is really amazing and beautiful. I really love this place.

Being there for the very first time, it felt very soothing, the ambience inside and outside is way too pleasing... It has the power to takes all your sadness. Apart from all this, the architecture is an eye catching master piece. All the sculptures and geometry used are too evenly done. The marble, glass and wooden works are at its most. Walking out the Church, the surroundings are cool and well maintained. At the back, you could just enjoy the eve with your loved ones and can end up your day in the best way. Lastly, entry fee 10 INR / 0.13 $

The building follows Indo-Gothic style. It is a must-visit place for history and architecture lovers. It becomes very lovely during the Christmas season when the cathedral, garden, and streets are all flooded with light and celebrations. There are paintings depicting great moments of Christianity. The nave is so beautiful and huge. Buses connect the cathedral to Kolkata's major destinations. Travel by metro or taxi. No smoking zone. Restrooms are available on request. Has Parking area. This church is very well maintained and its white colour and architecture makes it look stunning and beautiful. Must to visit place in kolkata. Their prayer hall is so calm that makes you feel very good and relax. Its near to Victoria memorial. So if you have some hours of time then theses places are a good combo to be visited.

St. Paul's Cathedral in Kolkata is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. The architecture is stunning, and the atmosphere is serene. However, there are a few things that could be improved. First, cameras are not allowed inside the church. This is a bit of a shame, as the interior is just as beautiful as the exterior. It would be great if the church would consider allowing cameras inside, at least on certain days or times. Second, the church grounds could be better maintained. The grass is a bit overgrown, and there are a few weeds here and there. A little bit of TLC would go a long way in making the church grounds even more inviting.

St. Paul's Cathedral is the largest Church in Kolkata. It's cornerstone laid in 1939 and building completed in 1947. This cathedral renovation and restored in 1992-1994 generous contribution from visitors and worshipper. A substantial portion of which came from The Williamson Magor group of Companies.

Beautiful church with full white colour. Saint Paul’s Cathedral is an Anglican Church & was the first of its kind within the erstwhile British territory, outside of Great Britain. Located to the east of the Victoria Memorial and at the southern edge of the maidan. Earlier there was no entry fee, but from few months back they are charging rs. 10 as entry fee.A big prayer room with a magnificent architecture view is available where christian people still can pray. The place covers a great amount of area and most of the places are greenery . The atmosphere and surroundings are very pleasant and you will get lot of peace inside the church. Photography was prohibited inside. This place will boost you to a different level.

To visit inside the Cathedral there is an entry fee of Rs. 10 per head and the visiting hours end at 6pm. I prefer visiting at sunset to capture its glory when lit with Christmas lights. The Architecture is awe-inspiring and marvelous inside out.

Beautiful place to go with your friends and family and for spending a nice day. This place will give you the nostalgic feeling of Kolkata. Inside the church you will get to see some old memories. You can relax your mind by only sitting there and praying to the Jesus. Outside view of the church is also great. Kids will also enjoy here.

This place needs no introduction to the residents of the City of Joy! Built more than a century ago, the Gothic architecture is bound to capture your attention. The ground on the rear side of the cathedral provides a serene place to sit an appreciate the sanctity of the place.

One of the oldest cathedral of Kolkata, this was built in a beautiful Gothic architecture in 1847. This was built on a large premises to replace to he iconic St. John's Church. The cathedral was built in Gothic revival style, but with modern construction elements, including an iron framework. It was built with a chancel, a sanctuary, chapels and a 201 feet tall spire; the cost of construction of the edifice was then Rs. 4,35,669. The cathedral can accommodate 800 to 1,000 people.

My visit to St. Paul's Cathedral in Kolkata was a somewhat mixed experience, leaving me with both positive and negative impressions. The cathedral's stunning Gothic architecture and historical significance were undeniably impressive, making it a must-visit landmark in the city. The soaring spires, intricate stained glass windows, and elegant interiors were captivating, evoking a sense of reverence and awe. The peaceful ambiance inside the cathedral offered a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. However, my overall experience was dampened by the lack of proper maintenance and upkeep. Some areas of the cathedral appeared worn and in need of restoration, which affected the overall grandeur of this iconic structure. Additionally, there was a noticeable lack of informational signage or guided tours to provide insights into the cathedral's history and architectural significance. More detailed explanations or guided tours would have enhanced the visitor's understanding and appreciation of this historical gem. In conclusion, St. Paul's Cathedral remains an essential cultural and historical landmark in Kolkata. While its architectural beauty and tranquility are captivating, improvements in maintenance and informational resources are needed to elevate the overall experience and justify a higher rating.

Merry Christmas Located in the heart of the City of Joy - Kolkata, St Paul's is an Anglican cathedral that operates under CNI ? Church of North India. It is a must-visit for those who seek enriching historical and architectural pleasure on their vacation trips. In the heart of the city, this colossal structure reminds you of the colonial times and takes you down the memory lane. Travellers keep this among the top few must-visit places when they come to Kolkata. It looks most beautiful during the Christmas holidays, when the cathedral, the garden around it as well as the surrounding streets are all bathed in light and festivities. Primarily built to accommodate the ever-increasing Christian community in Calcutta, it is the first Episcopalian church in Asia. The building follows Indo-Gothic style and its structure is complete with a cascading white edifice, towering spire and colourful tinted windows. Inside, it has a huge nave, majestic altar and chancel, along with carvings and paintings depicting great moments and events of Christian history. The cathedral complex also houses several memorabilia of past congregants and a library where books as old as the church's foundation time still exist donated by founding member Bishop Wilson.

Does it ever happen that you stand adoring an architecture so much so that you try to register every little detail, every minute beauty of it in your eyes? Well, if not then come to this St. Paul's Cathedral here in Kolkata, West Bengal and you will love it's ambience, it's architectural design, and the beautiful landscape around! Built in 1847, this gem is a rare one as it was the first to be built based on the climatic conditions of India. Painted in an off-white shade and a unique style of arch, it was done so to protect it from rains. Well, next time when you are at Cathedral Rd. in this ancient city of heritage called Kolkata in West Bengal, do not miss out adding this to your memory reels!

Need some peace of mind? Wanna be spiritual? Then, definitely visit St. Paul's Cathedral church, one of the top 10 must-visit places in Kolkata and it's one of the oldest churches in South Asia. The white walls, stained glass windows, the Gothic Revival architecture and the well-tended surrounding garden make this place an amazing tourist spot. During Christmas, the beauty of this place gets enhanced a lot. But during that time, it gets overcrowded. Entry is free of cost. An appropriate place for photo shoot lovers. But photography is not allowed inside the church building and do abide by such rules. You can pray inside the church as long as you want. A peaceful place to visit with near ones.

I would encourage anyone, of any faith, or none, to sit in the chapel and take a moment out of their busy lives to contemplate the world around them. A place to switch off from modern pressures amidst the beautiful architecture and quiet solace. A perfect escape from the frenetic city that lies beyond its gates. 10 rupees to enter, for any nationality, but donations can be made towards its upkeep inside the cathedral, no doubt appreciated if you're in a position to give. Plenty of shaded benches in the grounds too.

Let it be seen and shared and please put money in its upkeep. Paint this place. It may survive much more because nothing after the colonial times we made has survived, so at least make this survive as the foundations are great.

St. Paul’s Cathedral is one of the most iconic churches in Kolkata, which was built in 1847 for the European Christians living in the city at the time. Today, this cathedral is affiliated to the Church of North India and is the biggest church of all. What makes it one of the top historical places in Kolkata is its impeccable architecture which depicts Indo-Gothic style. It is also the first cathedral to have been constructed in the British Empire’s overseas territory. Location:Maidan, Kolkata Timings: Monday to Saturday: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday: 7:30 am to 6:00 pm

One of the best places to visit when in Kolkata. OMG, this church is so huge and beautiful. Never imagined that some beautiful churches do exist in India. This church is few meters away from the Victoria memorial and 100% worth visiting. I love the architecture of this church which is beyond words.

Beautiful architecture, very colonial and well kept. They charge a fee of Rs 10 per person. Even if their closing time is 6pm they start closing everything by 5.40 pm, especially the main church and they will switch of the lights and everything even if you are inside the church and tell you to go out.

St. Paul's Cathedral is one of the largest and oldest churches in Kolkata. The high ceilings, quiet and cozy atmosphere inside make you feel absorbed. It's nice to sit quietly in the atmosphere. The architecture and decoration inside this church is very beautiful. The stained glass windows inside look fantastic. At first sight, a beautiful expression will be created by seeing its size and white-white color. It is forbidden to take pictures inside the church, but still I stole some pictures and videos. As I went on a Sunday, devotional music was playing inside the main prayer hall. I sat and listened for a while. It looked good. Mithali of Peono with combined vocals was creating beautiful tunes. The construction of this church started in 1839 and ended in 1847. The first bishop of this church lies in eternal sleep in the underground chamber. Tried to find the grave but found nowhere….

A historic place to visit where you cab enjoy the history by watching the potrait e hanging on the wall in its indoor rooms. A big sculpture is also available in the front gate when you enter in the church. A big prayer room with a magnificent architecture view is available where christian people still can pray. The place covers a great amount of area and most of the places are greenery .

If you are in Kolkata, don’t forget to visit this church. It is a gorgeous church which will take you back to the British era. It is situated near the Victoria Memorial (walking distance). The atmosphere and surroundings are charming and you will get a lot of peace inside the church. There is a garden as well in front of the church but it is prohibited to enter. Photography or videography is prohibited inside the church. There is a small entry fee to the church Rs.10.

The entry fee was 10 rupees. And it's a humongous structure which looked like a two storey building but it isn't. The the cathedral complex is beautiful and was not at all crowded. Worship area has seating arrangements with good and aesthetic seats... The inside looks very historical and feels like a place with good energy... People are supposed to switch off their mobile phones while entering and must maintain silence inside.

One must visit the church. It has a Gothic touch in the walls, roof. Photography is prohibited within the church. Outside all can take photos. Here, you get a additional advantage as it is situated near Victoria memorial Hall and Nandan, two other tourist attraction you can go here easily by walking. If you are travelling with your own car, you can park your car in the parking plot.

It is adjacent to Birla planetarium and very near to Victoria memorial. Not maintained properly with structure and walls are craving for maintenance. However they charged 10/- entry fee. Seating hall was sealed , I do not know if it is permanent or temporary but charging 10/- for just in and out does not make any sense. Building has unique architecture and can be a good tourist attraction if maintained.

I had a good experience visiting St Paul cathedral with my friend. It's well worth it. Just sit in the chairs and look up in wonderment! A massive, intricate example of Colonial or European Architecture. Tower is grand and the design very impressive. Went there on Good Friday and attended the service.Entrance fee was only 10rs per person which I feel was good because it's a place of worship.....This place is so much clam... Inside and outside ambience of the church is very much soothing... Can feel positive vibes inside the church❤❤

On of the best architecture is fantastic standing tall among the high-rises and the race track. Though I went before Christmas the people were busy making wrapping paper and floral decorations. I made some quick sketches of the front and back area. The church organ is melodious and well kept. Go and visit art lovers.

The environment is very serene. The sweet fragrance in the environment contributes exponentially to the happiness. A very religious place, you can feel the internal calmness the moment you enter. The architecture is amazing! The marble statues inside are very beautiful! Verses of the Holy Bible are posted for people to read. If you pass by the verses I highly recommend you stop and read them once. They are very insightful. The only disappointment for me was, that I had expected a large cross inside, but the cross is very small.

If Serene and Calm atmosphere can be found amidst a metropolitan hustle bustle it's definitely here....Located near the prettier landscape side of the city, St. Paul's Cathedral is a structure of old amazing architecture and history. Accompanying a sprawling lawn and boasting of a beautiful white church with heritage, it's sure to make your day. To Add... There's plenty of parking for your 2/4 wheelers so there's no tension of any sort. Enjoy cheers!!

Gorgeous church of the British era, situated near the gardens of Queen Victoria memorial. Part of the city that had the elite imperial occupancy before independence. I visit historical places for the story, for the great architecture and more!

A historical cathedral that was built exactly 100 years before Indian independence. Has a lot of memorial plaques inside placed by the British in memory of their British army men. Also has signages indicating seats that were reserved for Colombo, Lahore, Delhi, Dhaka, etc.

Ofcourse went multiple times and it's beautiful and quite as well but this year in the December got to witness something beautiful. A group of kids were practicing carols for 25th Dec hopefully. That was some beautiful melody. But one thing I don't like that since couple of years, they started 10rps ticket. It's a church so visiting there with ticket I didn't like that personally.
