Entry ticket cost is very less. The variety of fishes kept inside the aquariums are in significant numbers. The aquariums are extremely well maintained and properly lit. Do visit this place once you visit Alipur Zoological Gardens. It's situated just opposite to the zoo's main gate, adjacent to Taj Bengal Hotel.😊

Disappointed with Alipore Zoo Aquarium. Outdated exhibits, poor maintenance, and cramped enclosures. Limited variety, especially underwhelming fish displays. The entrance fee doesn't match the experience. Won't consider revisiting.

Wonderful place to refresh your mind and to go with your family and To see the creations of God. This place is really awesome for you if you love animals and want to see them directly. Lots of different kinds of animals and species are there i.e. there are Deer, elephant, crocodile, Lion, Tiger, peacock, different types of snakes and a many more animals. This zoo is big and world famous but has map so you will not be confused if you take a picture of the map on your phone. Lots of people from different countries come this place. So if you are Indian or lives near KOLKATA or West Bengal then you should go there. This place is well maintained and safe.

Aquarium zoo is best place for fish lovers.. 3 rooms and 30 different types of fishes available.... .. I saw some of the unique fishes.. but I was expecting more... I expected a very big area which could include a dolphin 🐬 or may b shark 🦈 or a mini 🐳 but their are only small fishes... that van also be kept in your home aquarium.. so.. I gave only 4 stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 Government should increase this area.. and should bring some more fishes.. into this aquarium.. I have posted some of photos here... I.e 50++ pics.. those all are stunning and will blow your mind... just have a look and give me review about my pics..... but again I would say I expected a very big area which could include a dolphin 🐬 or may b shark 🦈 or a mini 🐳 but their are only small fishes... that van also be kept in your home aquarium.. so.. I gave only 4 stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 Government should increase this area.. and should bring some more fishes.. into this aquarium..

Located at just opposite side of the alipore zoo. You need to cross the road. Not very large place. Entry ticket Rs 5 per head. Not well maintained and all fish tanks are not having fish. There are some big alligator jar and some small sharks are available. Other fishes are also present like gourami, tetra, berbs etc.

The aquarium on the opposite side of the read to the alipore zoo is no match for the actual zoo itself. The it you are already visiting the amazing alipore zoo it m8ght not hurt to cross the road and spend 20 rupees to visit this tiny public aquarium as well; however, note that you probably won't find any exotic species or stunning displays. Most of it is average fishtanks filled with common aquarium fish. There are a few larger fish like gars and arowanas but it is definitely a skippavle place if there is a lack if time or interest.

The Zoological Garden, Alipore (also informally called the Alipore Zoo or Calcutta Zoo) is India's oldest formally stated zoological park (as opposed to royal and British menageries) and a big tourist attraction in Kolkata, West Bengal. It has been open as a zoo since 1876, and covers 18.81 ha (46.5 acres). It is probably best known as the home of the now expired Aldabra giant tortoise Adwaita, who was reputed to have been over 250 years old when he died in 2006. It is also home to one of the few captive breeding projects involving the Manipur brow-antlered deer. One of the most popular tourist attractions in Kolkata, it draws huge crowds during the winter season, especially during December and January. The highest attendance till date was on January 1, 2018 with 110,000 visitors.

It contains a small room size area. Many types of fishes saw in the aquarium. Lots of hours spend in the aquarium because the fishes are swim in the water because very very small size of fishes are swim that the water. The aquarium enterance is thrilling because the crocodile statue is located. It is not original like as a big size toy. The enterance fee is 5 rupees per person. It is not inside the alipore zoo because it located in opposite side of alipore zoo.

Alipore Zoological park is an ideal destination for children due to its diverse collection of animals and birds. The park boasts of an impressive array of birds, which are a real treat for bird lovers. However, the tigers at the park seem to be elusive, as they seldom come out of their caves. The hippo and rhino also prefer to stay in the water, making it challenging to spot them. On the other hand, visitors can get a glimpse of the bear and the Kong, which are a delight to watch. Despite the lack of visibility of certain animals, the natural surroundings of the park are breathtakingly beautiful. The greenery and serene environment make it an ideal place to spend some quality time with family and friends. The zoo authorities have done an excellent job of creating a natural habitat for the animals, which is very impressive. However, the park's bathrooms are in poor condition and require immediate attention. It is essential to ensure that the basic amenities are well-maintained to provide visitors with a comfortable experience. In conclusion, Alipore Zoological park is an excellent place for children to learn and explore the diversity of animal life. Despite the challenges in spotting certain animals, the park's natural surroundings and beautiful landscape make it a worthwhile visit. However, the park authorities must take measures to maintain the basic amenities to provide visitors with a better experience.

The Alipore Zoo Aquarium provides a fascinating underwater journey with a variety of aquatic species. The well-maintained tanks offer clear views, showcasing the vibrant marine life. Educational displays enhance the experience, but some exhibits may benefit from additional information. Despite its compact size, the aquarium provides an engaging and educational visit, making it a worthwhile stop within Alipore Zoo.

Aquatic lives are much different than normal terrestrial lives. Aquatic animals are those that live inside water. They have a provision in body to make their respiration. These aquatic animals are especially characterized as the one who don’t get a close contact with the world outside water. Fish is one good example of aquatic animal. There are many types of aquatic animals. If these animals are in contact with the outer world in the absence of water they can not breathe they die every soon within few minutes. Fish consumes oxygen from inside the water molecules. They can not breathe oxygen normally from the outside air. Many people use fish as their food, but this aquatic animal life is in danger because of continuous decline in their population. There are many factors that cause harm to the aquatic animal’s life. One main reason is the water pollution. Man is the only intelligent animal on earth blessed with the ability to think rationally. But this man has disturbed the life cycle of aquatic animals because of his indiscriminate activities. Many manufacturing companies spread their chemicals, wastages and experimental products inside water. This pollutes the water which is home to the aquatic life. As a result, fishes are unable to breathe even inside water. Polluted water lacks oxygen inside and thus many fishes die even inside water. It is necessary to think on this issue as the aquatic animals and their life are in danger because of man’s mistakes. Aquatic animals involve not only fishes but many other animals. There are many types of snakes also that live inside water. These snakes are also a part of aquatic life. These snakes can be categorized as the aquatic animal. Apart from snakes there are many types of turtles. But turtles, crocodiles and frogs are amphibians that can live inside water as well as on ground because they have got provision inside their body to be able to breathe both inside water as well as on ground. It is responsibility of every human being to take care of aquatic animal and their lives. These species are depleting day by day. If this decline is not stopped right away, soon they will vanish completely.

Its the oldest zoological park in India. The best thing about the place is that the Trees are also marked and labelled according to their names.

  • 4/5 Arn N. 3 years ago on Google
Open even on Thursday. Inside is very much crowded. So my best advice shall be to avoid the place for now. People are allowed to gather inside. Some groups are even celebrating picnic! Most of the species are there. Tiger, giraffe, birds and sloth bear are main attraction. Reptile section is not so good, but many crocodiles are there. Only reason I am deducting a star is for so much crowd and little to no security to control them. In CoVid situation it is not expected. So if you go please maintain proper safety.

I visited Alipore Zoo a long long time after. I found the Zoo is clean. The enclosures also changed and became clean. If I am not wrong formerly the animals name like babu , siba also reflected in front the enclosure, this time I missed those names. I enjoyed with my little boy who is very curious to see his friends. Hope see you soon again. One thing I am suggesting the authority to remain strict about the mask, I found many many of them roaming without mask inside zoological garden after security check. One more thing, that the personnel do great job.

  • 4/5 Rahul Bio B. 3 years ago on Google
There is no such animal as expected not much to see.... only there is different species of Deer, parrot, mexcan parrot, peacock, tiger etc.. apart from this no such species are present in this zoo right now in December 2020 next year might they bought some new one. How much guidelines were mentioned in the website of Alipore zoo regarding COVID-19 no such strict measures were taken..... it's public mass mistakes not the authority.... that's all.

But the cages have too much layers that sometimes it's very difficult to watch them specially the birds... Toiltes are clean.. Ticket are available online and offline as well as.. Please don't bring plastic. Keep it clean

I went there on 24 Dec 2020. It's a great palace for fun, entertainment and education. The animals were in good condition and were much energetic, although the open air enclosure tiger was a bit thin. The aquarium had less variants though. Still it was a great place and worth every penny. 😀

  • 3/5 Sattwik M. 3 years ago on Google
I have returned here again and again; the absolute enjoyment of watching animals have compelled me to return here. The zoo itself has huge potentials, but suffers due to a lack of proper maintenance and upkeep. The zoo could use better landscaping, better signs and better utilise and take advantage of its scale and heritage. The zoo should also make better facilities for older people, such as carts, for enjoying a full tour.

  • 4/5 Ayan C. 3 years ago on Google
A good place to spend the day with family and friends. Try to buy the ticket online as it will save the hassle of standing in long queues which would set you back by 15-20 minutes on a good day. The online ticket entry gate is just beside the main exit gate keep an eye for it as it is not prominently visible. Best time to visit the place is in winter when the weather is mellow. Tiger and lion enclosures and open air elephant and giraffe enclosures are a must watch. Food options inside the zoo is however limited so plan accordingly. Don't expect social distancing norms to be followed inside so it's better to keep your mask on at all times and sanitize often to ensure your own safety. If you don't exit from the main gate call up your cab and mention zeerut bridge as the pickup location.

One of the lovely place to visit in winter season. I have been visiting the zoo since childhood and there were some changes this time like leopard, tiger kept in glass open chambers.Ostrich, kangaroo, giraff, lion, white tiger, elephants are main attractions of the zoo. What I have understood that you have to 'lucky' to see the animals as animals themselves don't come out always in the open to give us 'darshan'. This time I stayed 'lucky' to see the animals which I missed last time. If you are in kolkata, it becomes almost mandatory to visit the zoo atleast once a year specially in December.😁

The zoo is not safe at all...the people who are visiting 70% of them are not wearing mask properly or not wearing mask at all... there is no safe distance between too persons and in weekend it is a mess. My opinion would be to avoid the zoo for now but if you can't resist yourself make sure you have a sanitizer and you are wearing a mask the whole time of your visit.

    Very poorly maintained

  • 3/5 Debajyoti D. 3 years ago on Google
The aquariums were maintained well. But if you are a fish keeper you'll get bored cause except 2 or 3 species each and every fish are just domestic ones which are found in every aquarium shops like goldfish, angels,Oscars etc. You'll see some Pacu and alligator gars too. Though the tickets are very cheap for that much. It's good for kids.

It used to be an amazing place. I used to love going here. Now there very less fish, and the place is NOT maintained well. Waste of time.

  • 3/5 Travelnindia 1 year ago on Google
It is a small, cute little place right opposite the Alipore zoo. A place like Kolkata should have a big and aquarium considering close location to sea.

  • 1/5 Manish G. 1 year ago on Google
Don't waste your money. Most of the fish tanks are empty and some commonly available fish are kept there. Ticket price is Rs. 20 but not worth it. Better to Avoid. You can finish the place sights in less than 5 minutes.

  • 2/5 Alien 10 months ago on Google
Not much fishes variety .. also aquarium is too small ..

  • 2/5 Ruptosh C. 8 months ago on Google
There are very few types of fish available in this zoo aquarium. 20 Rupees ticket is not worthy for this aquarium as it is not well maintained and not clean. Need to clean and requires more organised and need to increase the type fish. Lots of aquariums are empty.

  • 1/5 Hriddhimaan B. 4 months ago on Google • 3 reviews
Very empty and too badly maintained. I literally saw paan/guthka spit walls. It's definitely not worth visiting. Save your time and enjoy the main zoo more.
