Loved the food and fish fry. Tables and wash area are clean in spite of the rushing crowd. They serve “rice water” along with meals which was another tasty and worthy addition. Only street parking available here. Food prices are slightly higher than other budget restaurants but can be adjusted with the great quality delicious food.

We had king fish, prawns, sardine fry, mackerel fry and squid fry along with plate meals as the base. Each dish was as tasty as the other... Very satisfied and it made our day.

The only advice I wanna give is to consume less rice and try their sea food special side dishes. The meals is good except for the rice I felt really heavy. And let me say one thing that many of the restaurants serving meals and fish fries over-rated and overpriced once you eat the sea food special side dishes from here. The fish is so fresh and perfectly cooked without overpowering with masala. The freshness of the fish, correct cooking and the quantity of the fish served for such price is really reasonable. The curries and pickle served are good. Lunch is served in banana leaves. Please note there will be rush and waiting time for you to get a seat. Proper place for parking won't be there and hence find our own spot and park responsibly.

If we want a variety lunch with full of seafood items (chemmeen,koonthal,kallummakkayi and all type fishes) ondens is the top option to go for Sometimes it is very busy or crowdy so you have to wait for the lunch because of less tables.. Most of all items are delicious,but the price is a bit high when we go in single ( for eg: the chemmeen is priced of 110 so the total bill amount will be around 400 when we order 2 or 3 items..)so it is better to go in groups. Fishe like mathi is get in small price (₹25/piece) so the people having small budget also can go for ... Parking facility is very less...

Best place for simple Kerala meals in Kannur city without too much fanfare and good fried seafood. The place is bare bones in terms of seating (seats have no backrest - likely to prevent people from sitting too long.. 🙂) and ambience but is so busy during lunch time that you have to stand next to the table of whoever is likely to finish his/her lunch to get a seat. You will get the same treatment when you are almost finishing your lunch 🙂

Awesome food! We travelled all the way from our halt in Thalassery to try out this place after reading about it's popularity. It was well worth. There is a dedicated parking lot but it gets full quickly. The restaurant is small but extremely busy at lunchtime and finding a seat is not easy. Once seated, everyone is served rice, fish curry and dal on a banana leaf, along with vegetables. Then a waiter comes around with the star dishes, various fish fries, squid, prawns and mussels in a fry or roast preparation. You are free to pick as many as needed. The taste is awesome and not too spicy. Free topping up of rice and gravy is provided. Rice starch water is also given. This place is well worth a try for lunch if you are in the vicinity.

I have known this place fore over two decades now. The hype over this place in the recent past has highly contributed to the deterioration. What used to be the finest sea food meals joint has turned into a place where fish is served with masala which is hardly cooked. What made their fish dishes lip smacking was the way it was cooked, but alas that seems to be have changed, because they have such heavy rush that they cannot serve it as well cooked as they used to, before. This time I went there, washed my hands and came out. Fighting to get a seating is not in my books. The last time around 1 year back after the COVID restrictions were eased out I went to Odhen's to try out the fish, of which I was very much impressed and loved the taste. But this time, I am disappointed that they've left the seating and priority to each customer who comes there. The strongest wins the bread, but here the strongest wins the seat and eventually gets to eat. I strongly suggest that the management takes necessary action to control the crowd at their doorstep and are allowed to enter depending upon the seats that are getting vacant. The current situation is like this, If I'm sitting and eating there is a poor hungry child or a family or a someone staring at me and making me think guilty of occupying their seat before them. Otherwise, the situation is like I am standing near some stranger who is trying to enjoy his meal with the tastiest dishes but me trying to make him/her uncomfortable as possible. They have improved on arranging parking area but Plz Odhen's, make an arrangement for the priority seating or a basic Queue system so as to avoid the CARNAGE.. Heard so much of Odhens Kannur so we had to visit it. We reached Kannur at 1330 hrs from Bengaluru, so we drove straight for lunch. It was packed like sardines in a can!! As we disclosed that we have just driven from Bangalore the waiters found us a table, for four, already occupied by a young couple. We were set upon, by a couple of waiters and before we could say Jack, a plantain leaf was set before us and immediately we were served with Red rice(you need to get used to the feel in your mouth, we are not too fond of the same but white rice was not on the menu.) Then sambar, fish curry, some palya and pickle. Then they brought plates of different seafood, squid, muscles, pomfret, king fish and prawns. We chose the king fish, prawns and a biggish pomfret. Excellent stuff BUT Amma's Hotel Calicut beats Odhens hollow. The above just cost us Rs 650??????? Sorry no pictures because there was no room to move our elbows and people were literally standing on your head waiting for you to finish so they could jump you place.
