The Mission Ranch is hang out spot for elitist wealthy Carmel geriatrics. The food is over priced and subpar but it resides in a beautiful location. The owners and staff could careless about unhappy patrons because they know the public will come for the views and the dusty old rich peoples opinion is the only one that counts anyway. Look at the poor reviews, do you see anyone from management or owners responding to these complaints. No..no you don’t. Go for drinks at sunset but go elsewhere for good food and service. This place is basically the equivalent of the recreation room at an expensive retirement community.

Old school charm. Enjoy the bar scene and a drink while you wait for your table. The piano player was super engaging and added to the ambience. Food was glorious. Enjoyed the prime rib. And ribs. Champagne and mixed drinks were meh. The ambiance trumped those experiences.

We were at Mission Ranch a few days ago for dinner and were disappointed in our meal. There were so many good reviews and we were so excited to try it, but unfortunately it didn’t meet our expectations. I got a steak and asked for medium rare and it was well done, there was no seasoning on it, so I had to season each piece before I took a bite. Overall the food wasn’t it. But, the atmosphere was so welcoming and fun! They had live music and it was sweet to see that. When we told the staff about our experience, they were very kind to us and understood where we came from. So overall, the food wasn’t great, the atmosphere was inviting and fun, and the staff were kind and sweet to us!

We enjoyed happy hour on the outside patio and got a perfect table by arriving at 3pm. The views are outstanding, the service attentive and the food delicious. A few nights later we went at 5pm for dinner then stayed afterwards for the wonderful performance at the piano bar. The ambience is so cozy and the music was very good. Also bartender pours generously.

The 2 person table by the French window that you can open or close.... open and close the blind... overlooking the sheep and ocean is literally heaven on earth!!! Like a fairytale... the "catch of the day" never disappoints! Friendly staff and has live piano somedays

We drove over/down from the Sierra Foothills with our friends and had a wonderful time! We had rooms 31 and 32 in the Farmhouse and were very happy! We especially enjoyed the living room with the fireplace where we had after dinner drinks. We had breakfast and dinner both days and loved everything. Beautiful property! Thanks so much, Clint for saving and restoring this jewel.

What a lovely venue, went here with my wife for dinner and drinks. We did have to wait just over an hour for a table but the atmosphere and surroundings were beautiful. The food was amazing. I had Whiskey Marinated Beef Brochette and it was the best meal I have had in the 2 week's I have spent in the USA travelling from Las Vegas to Carmel, via Yosemite, Tahoe, Napa and San Fran

Around $150 for dinner and drinks for two! I think it was worth it, definitely delicious, we got there about an hour before opening and enjoyed grazing hour. I think they really should have started live piano much earlier! We were ready to leave when it finally started, but that was pretty much the only disappointment.

Food was great, ambience is awesome. Highly recommend, the view is to die for. If you're visiting Carmel and want a romantic evening, this is a great place to go. Relaxed atmosphere and great food.

My husband and I got a seat at the piano bar while waiting for our special table. We met so many nice people. Our dinner was to celebrate our 30th anniversary. The service was exceptional, our table was right by the cozy fireplace with a view of the Meadow. Our dinner and bottle of wine was fantastic. I highly recommend the Mission Ranch Restaurant experience.

Mediocre at best. Worst Old Fashioned I’ve ever had…they make them with soda water. I had to send it back and tell them how to make it (I never send anything back). Food was bland and boring. Prices are good…that terrible Old Fashioned was only $11. The view is great. When you visit Carmel you only get to enjoy dinner a few times…don’t waste one of those nights going to dinner here. Just so many better options.

This place deserves a solid four stars because it is very cute and the views are beautiful. But… you will be paying up for food that isn’t very well seasoned or good. It’s not worth the wait in my personal opinion, but it is a beautiful spot. They go for an old school vibe, which a lot of people absolutely love. It has its charm, and I get it. However, because of that they get away with food that is a 2.5/5. You’re paying for the atmosphere, not really a tasty meal.

My go-to place for dinner every time we come down Carmel Valley Ranch for staycation. I always order rack of lamb, simply the best meat (although feel bad eating the meat while watching the lamb in the background…) drinks and dessert are fantastic. Price is very reasonable! Come around 4:50pm to get a buzzer to get seated early 5pm.

We had dinner at the ranches restaurant last night. It's was good. We filled up on the best fresh garlic's bread and could hardly eat our dinners. Had a refreshing frozen grasshopper cocktail as well and the food was fast and service friendly.

This restaurant is completely run down, we were there for dinner and 3 out of our 4 menu folders had no menu inside, there were cobwebs in our booth, and the busboy spilled all over my husbands jacket....the hostess was super rude and unfriendly. We have dined here a couple times but I don't think we want to come back any more. Moving on.

Set on an old sheep farm clise to Carmel mission, with views out to Carmel bay, the hotel and restaurant are must stops on any visit to Carmel, CA. Restaurant’s weekend brunch is a good deal. You can walk around the grounds and enjoy the scenery while you wait for the table.

Loved it! Gorgeous spot to enjoy yum food & drinks on a beautiful patio. We went for grazing hour 2x while in town - get there as close to 3:00 as possible for a seat outside, there is a line to get in later. Yummy potato skins, so crispy & delish! Excellent service from the waitstaff to the folks replenishing water etc. The only not-great service people in our experience were the hostesses, they were unfriendly but everything else is great. Highly recommend!

This is for Mission Ranch Restaurant which was formerly owned by Clint Eastwood. Not the hotel. Meal was average and very over priced and I've eaten at MANY top notch restaurants and this is not one of them. Google for a better place to eat. I would not give it a 4.6 as it is rated.

Came for the view and was not disappointed but the food was hit and missed. Loved the Beretta salad but the chicken sandwich was dry and had no sauce. Dinner is better inside with the piano playing and a warm fire

Sunday afternoon brunch, which was just a simple ala carte menu with classic breakfast like omlettes and french toast as well as lunch sandwiches. Burger and fries were great, I saw the eggs benedict at the next table and it was a hard choice. Suprised we didnt wait at all on such a lovely day, we were back because the night before was two hours.

We had a great time here last evening. We were not particularly hungry so we just had appetizers but I enjoyed the cocktails and wine. There was live music with guest singers and one in particular was absolutely awesome. We danced, sang along and enjoyed the entertainment. Great place.

Make sure to learn the story about the restaurant. Clint Eastwood is a hero and the area because of it. The view of the farm next door lived up to expectations. The food was delicious and everyone especially enjoyed their variety of beverages. Service was top notch. We did get a little rain on us sitting outside but they're used to that and accommodated quickly.

Love Mission Ranch! I've been coming here for years but have never stayed at the inn, just dined at the restaurant...wasn't disappointed. My room was close to the restaurant and cozy and clean. The overhead ceiling fan was helpful, mini fridge, good cable channels...and quiet. I had a room on the first floor but wasn't able to hear the people above me which is rare. The parking was also easy, like literally right in front of my door. Affordable and nice! The staff at the front desk were incredibly kind and accommodating as well. As for the restaurant-never a bad decision to dine there. The scenery is gorgeous, love watching the sheep graze, the staff...great! I sat at the bar and had a giant prime rib dinner and was doted on by Brent (think that's his name). So much fun with the locals and Brent. The piano bar is always a must-the pianist is amazing. I also had breakfast the following morning outside-so pretty and quiet. You can't go wrong staying at Mission Ranch or dining there! Favorite stop in Carmel.

A little difficult to find but well worth persevering. A beautiful location and lovely restaurant area. The staff were pleasant and attentive. The food, well I ordered ribs and my plate would have fed six people! Can highly recommend

Mission Restaurant patio with 4 girlfriends. Excellent service, excellent food, beautiful scenery. We will see you again in October 2023. Reasonable prices for such a wonderful restaurant. We highly recommend it. We sat on the patio and ordered drinks and 5 or 6 appetizers. We were so full after the appetizers that we couldn’t order dinner. Excellent food, drinks just ok.

Very romantic reminds me of Edward Hopper paintings. The restaurant has an amazing location with exquisite view and the service is excellent. The style is very casual— Carmel style! The food is sort of old fashion, but well done. Loved the bread basket of garlic bread. Many space heaters for the patio you won’t be cold!

This restaurant is superb! I have traveled the world, and this is in my top 5! The owner is very humble and has an awesome team helping him operate his great restaurant and cottages. The herd of sheep are well taken care of on the beautiful pasture richly painted upon our Pacific Ocean. Thank you for the memorable experience you bestowed upon my wife and friends while visiting your property.

Great views and good quality if good. Restaurant is in pricier side justifiable by massive portions that are just too much. People send unfinished plates back. Service lacks the finesse this is not a fine dining. Sunset pasture with sheep, the view is stunning though.

I've been to the Mission Ranch hundreds of times and love the place. My friend Andy was a regular there and when I visited we went there 3 or 4 times a week. Great old building, watch your head if you are a tall person. Best atmosphere ever, from the dining area, to the bar, to the fantastic view from the patio. Food is wonderful and lot's of good wine. Everybody treated us great. Saw Mr. Clint in there many times. He came up to the bar and set in my seat while I was out on the patio talking to a friend. I saw him there and thought I would tease him. I asked my friend Andy, why he didn't save me seat. Clint turned around and said he could be talking to some pretty ladies instead of us two clowns. I said I was only kidding so sit back down. Being the gentleman he is, he got up and went to talk to the manager(a great gal by the way). I was bummed, as I wanted to see what movies he was going to make next. Big fan. My friend said when Clint sat down that just because you own the place doesn't mean you can sit in Howie's seat. Kidding of course. My two friends and I had several glasses of wine and great burgers for dinner and when we asked for the check, the bartender said Clint picked it up. As he was not known for doing that I felt privileged. My friend Andy said, if we are going to get free drinks we should kick him out more often. That's my Clint story. Nice man and very personable if you get the chance to meet him. Genady, the piano player is world class and helps sometimes with his movie music. Wonderful memories from going there. Oh yeah, the food it great too.

I stay at Mission Ranch every time I'm in the area which is about 6-10 times a year. The room is always clean and comfortable, I get the same room every time I'm there, feels like home. I love the grounds they are so beautiful and relaxing. I go there to walk and relax. I was just there last month and plan on heading there next month again. Everyone that works at Mission Ranch are always so nice. I am a diehard Mission Ranch fan...Forever! Clint Eastwood is a hero of mine just like Paul Newman is. They not only have worked very hard for their well deserved money but they use it to make peoples lives better! Mine is definitely better because of Mission Ranch..... :)

Mission Ranch is a magical place. My dinner was incredibly nostalgic. I was reminded of family celebrations at Lawry's in LA; this prime rib was better than Lawry's of late, lean and tender. The twice-baked potato was reminiscent of my Nana's in the best way. Debbie took real good care of us. The grasshopper dessert cocktail is a liquid version of your favorite childhood dessert. Even better that it gave me just enough courage to sing along with the piano; I didn't get the piano-player's name, but she was lovely!

John at the bar was excellent. We arrived early for drinks and an appetizer. Debbie was our waitress and was informative, fun and witty. We had the scallops and fillet, both superb. For dessert, the pecan pie and brandy Alexander, good enough to be Southern. It is a local experience and I highly recommend.

We recently went with my family for a Sunday brunch. The food is extremely good, and always freshly replenished. The location is great. There is always a long waiting time since it is not possible to reserve a table... but the wait is definitely worth it!

  • 2/5 George G. 1 year ago on Google
We visited twice and both times the receptionist was quite rude and arrogant, like they own the place. Service was good, but the food so and so, nothing special for that price.

I love mission ranch, I’ve been coming here for years. However — do not come here if you have a service dog. The staff will meet you with attitude & judgement. The staff will walk around to make sure your dog is performing as he should. My dog slept at my feet the entire dinner , but the comments made for a uncomfortable experience & we will not be back.

The location and the history of Mission Ranch is fantastic and for that reason alone I would recommend it. But, our room overlooked a school playground so we were woken by the bell both mornings. Fine if we had been made aware of this at any point, or if it had been mentioned in the information about the room but, perhaps deliberately, it wasn’t. The room itself (17) was spacious, traditional in style and could do with a bit of an update. The beds were comfortable and there was water and coffee making facilities. It would have been great if a fresh supply of these could have been left at our door or just inside for our second night. I know we could have asked for it but I don’t think it would have been that much of a stretch to just do it. Two small bottles of water between four of us staying for two nights was a bit underwhelming. We had breakfast in the restaurant once. The view was gorgeous so we sat outside even though it was a bit drizzly. They kindly lit the outdoor fire for us. The breakfast was good - pancakes, eggs Benedict, juices and coffee. Checkout was simple and accurate but I struggled with the lack of interest in whether we’d had a nice stay. I felt as though I was an annoyance and there was absolutely no interest in conversing with me - just wanted the keys back and to tell me the bill would be emailed. A missed opportunity to make a guest feel valued. Overall, we love Carmel so this was a good base for us.

Sorry but hard pass. Cute sheep and a nice sunset but waited 1.5 hrs for not good seating (terrible booking system btw), head host was kinda rude, customers stuck up and the food was soggy and overpriced. Bring your camera cause that's the main thing you'll be paying for. The servers were great though all credit to them.

  • 5/5 Desiray D. 1 year ago on Google
The view from the patio is beautiful! There's a big field where I got to see deer along with the sheep, and right past the field is the ocean! The food was really good, I recommend having a reservation if possible cause I went on a Wednesday and had to wait over an hour. There is some seating outside for you to wait and have a drink while you wait or you can sit at the bar.

Had a really nice dinner here after spending a day in Carmel and Big Sur. The view of the ranch was very scenic, and the live piano music added a very lively vibe for dinner. The food was very good too, although a bit on the pricier side

Great food , staff, guests and atmosphere. We watched sunset and then ate dinner. It was a wonderful evening. The pasta bolognese and the stuffed Porkchop were amazing. I’d make every effort to return each time we visit Carmel. Very moderately priced considering what you get.

Immaculate vibes: sheep grazing, lots of patio space, good views of a marsh and the beach. Food was good as well - but limited gluten free options (artichoke, omelette, bruschetta) - come for the vibes and the drinks, not the food if you’re gluten free/celiac (I still gave it 5/5 after all!) I got a drink which I can’t remember the name of because I was told it tastes like an orange creamsicle - was true to the promise, and I’d get it again!
