We booked hotel Shanthala, Surathkal via OYO app for 1 week prepaid. On reaching hotel Shanthala after 8 hr journey, a huge board outside it greeted us saying ‘we are not checking in OYO paid customer ‘ . The hotel manager and owner told us to pay for a week again so you pay double. The OYO regional customer care guy didn’t pick up the calls. The entire operation is a scam, this hotel uses the OYO app to lure customers and then forces them to pay again. The customers have the option to cancel booking from OYO but you have to pay cancellation charges - in our case 2 days stay. So ultimately, the winners in this scam are OYO and the hotel. Be careful when booking via apps like OYO. The lesson we learnt is to contact hotel directly and not depend on some app. Us like another family with small kids were stranded and they called the cops... Finally we left and directly checked into a better hotel. Also the photos of the interiors of the hotel uploaded on OYO are not always genuine .

No room boys. Receptionist is always not in place. TV set is there but, only free channels.

Worst experience I had In hotel experience.. The staff are Way too rude.. No proper customer service.. AC not working properly.. On the app it shows there is complimentary breakfast available but the hotel guys tell that it's not available. They try to cheat a lot and coming to the tv channels.. Not a single channel works . No hot water for bath.. The worst experience man..

This place is very near to Surathkal junction which makes it easily accessible. The staffs were really polite and service provided by staff was also really good. This place is comparatively cheap also. But the room which i got was not that good. The bedsheets and the towels were not cleaned properly and there were dust in and around. The bathroom was okay okay. If you want to stay cheap with moderate facilities, you can consider this place.

Be cautious when booking advance period to needed particular room, they do not issue any recipt and write down diary book, at the end they change room as per demand ,this can lead to sleepless night.

Easy access to surathkal town and National Highway, because its located in the heart of the city. Clean and management is also good

We had taken an a/c room this week which costs Rs.1700/. The rate is very high and the facilities provided are poor. Room is some what ok. Bathroom is not clean. Hot water is not coming. No room service, no intercom facilities, no room service,no staff at the reception.The rate should be cut short to around Rs.1100/- compared to the facilities provided.

No one present at reception most of the time. Don't know how to request room service. You will really feel hot inside non ac room. No tv. Have to take AC rooms. Only advantage is the prime location of the hotel. You can find lot of shops, travel to temples in Suratkal. Links Udupi to mangalore.
