Known as scandal point because Maharaja Patiala eloped with the Viceroys daughter and caused a lot of commotion in this area. Still reminiscent of the british era Shimla, buildings & the vibe still takes you back in time. Must visit for anyone travelling to shimla. It is the point where the Mall, the route to the Ridge and that to the GPO meet. It is regarded by many to have got its name from where an erstwhile Maharaja of Patiala carried off a British Commander-in-Chief's daughter. While Bhupinder Singh, the Maharaja in question, is known to have cut a finger that was more than dashing, it is unlikely that the Maharaja or the lady would have been out on the streets airing their love.
