This is more than a museum, it's more like a time warp taking you back in time to not only enhance you with some beautiful pieces of art and not just paintings and sculptures, showing how the artist made use many different forms to create some astounding pieces. The main house give a good insight to how the artist and his family live, tastefully furnished, but not over the top. The studio was inspirational with lots of information in various languages explaining the day to day running was carried out. The enclosed gardens we're serene with a peaceful ambience. We were impressed with what we found behind the humble exterior. Hygiene and security measures were upheld. Not the largest museum, but if you can fit it in your Valencian itinerary it's a must, we were happy we didn't pass this one by. If you find this helpful, please push the helpful button. Thank you.

Great collection of original furniture of José Benlliure, many painting of him, also from his brother Mariano and his son Peppino. Also a sample of Mariano scultures. The painter studio located behind the beautiful garden of the house, show also a big collection of objects.

This is more than a museum and one of the places I wouldn't miss in Valencia. When you enter the art studio and library on the second floor at the rear of the garden it's like stepping back right into the time they lived. The owners of the home, possibly since they were artists, also collected fine pieces from their day as well as from earlier times. There are numerous ceramics, musical instruments, museum quality objects from as far back as maybe around 500 AD, and a plethora of interesting miscellaneous items. Up at the front of the property, where the majority of the paintings are housed, you'll also see the home furnishings from that period. Some of the paintings are exceptional and there's also a fine collection of engravings. And, like many of the museums in Valencia it's only 2€ or less depending on your age, etc.

Very pretty, calm, 3 story house/museum/art gallery with small garden. Fountain, ceramic benches, outdoor kitchen area. Paintings are interesting, especially originals signed letters (3rd floor) and artist workshop with equipments, easels all around. Clean, modern WC (1st floor) and nice welcome when you arrive. No charge (state where you're from), weekday in January. Open only 10-2pm but not worth more than an hour. Located on main street right across from Turia park (although google had a hard time finding it) through maze of old streets.

The home of this famous Valencian painter is now a wonderful, often overlooked, museum. The house and contents, including many paintings, were donated by the painters’ daughter in 1957. The museum is along the south side of the river park not far from the north tower. The peace of the garden belies the busy street just outside the front door.

It is worth a visit. Two euros entrance fee. Photography allowed. The property was constructed between 1880 and 1883 to a design drawn up by master builder Vicente Miquel y Viñuelas. Planned as a well-to-do middle-class house, it includes a wide range of styles inspired by the classics. In 1896, José Benlliure bought it and made it into his home on his return from a long period spent in Rome. The property consists of three parts: the house, a large garden and in the back of the garden, a painter's studio built in 1902

A friend suggested I view some of the Valencian painter Joaquín Sorolla works while I was in Valencia. During my time here I found that the museum had a few of his works in a special exhibit so decided to attend. I attended on a Sunday but normally believe it is 1 or 2 EU to enter. While not large as it was a personal house, it is well laid out and had different works on the different floors. I personally found the second floor which had works from José Benlliure Gil and the top floor with the special exhibit of Joaquín Sorolla to be the most interesting but all the works were enjoyable.

I absolutely love this casa museo, more than the one of Blasco Ibáñez. There are two separate villas and one garden in it. The library makes me awe at the first sight. It’s stunning. To be honest, I don’t even know who José Benlliure Gil is before I come here. But I definitely would pay more attention on his paintings in the future. This museum is on the same way of the twin towers, excuse my poor memory of those names, probably about ten minutes walk, and very close to the old town Ciutat Vella. The entrance costs €2.

Employees were not polite and and didnt speak English ! I thought this is a house museum, its expected to have visits from foreigners ! I am glad I had TVC and the entry was free. It was nice to see what houses looked like a century ago.

A small museum with a lot to offer. The former home of Jose Benlliure not only showcases his art and studio but the ground level of his home is also on display with mostly original furnishings. The studio and upper floors of the house display work of his son brothers. There is also a lovely garden and a display of the outdoor kitchen.

What a wonderful little museum, it was empty when I arrived, it's free and you can have a trip to what life was like in the early 19th century home to a medium-high society of the time, don't forget to visit the garden with the collection of ceramic tiles and he painter's studio at the back of the garden

Brilliant. The garden is an oasis of calm. It's almost as nice as Sorolla's house in Madrid. Well worth a visit.

Must see! Small but excellent museum with works of Benlliure family and other contemporary Spanish painters/sculptors. Free for EU citizens (otherwise 1.5€)

For me the best art museum in Valencia. All Sundays are free. Sometimes there are guided tours and it makes it even better. I have been there 3 times! And Ialways want to back.

Sehr schönes kleines Museum. Der Besuch lohnt sich alleine schon wegen des wunderschönen Innengartens.

Apart from the nice garden view below, there was nothing much to see around. Exhibits were a little too abstract

Interesting painters house over 3 floors, a beautiful quiet garden & painters studio. The smaller pictures were stunning & some rooms retained their original 19th century layout & furniture. Fascinating to see family portraits next to early photographs. A great way to spend a couple of hours near the Torres de Quart.

I have gone to a lot of the museums in Valencia and this one was my favourite. Mainly because it was not just a huge collection of paintings but focused on one family, their home and its numerous creative descendants. The paintings and sculptures were impressive and one could feel a narrative. Don't miss the studio preserved at the back of the small but lush garden. There's a family tree there with photos to put a face to the artists.

A gem. Lovely house museum of a contemporary ( and his sons) of Sorolla's. Small but a significant amount of display, a lovely garden and temporary exhibition space.

Nice looking building with a very nice looking garden behind the casa museo. There are three floors to discover in the main building , the garden and an additional small building with 2 more rooms that are containing some paintings and other objects.

It's so refreshing to step into the past, a wonderful preservation of the artist's home and studio, really a quiet hidden treasure in the middle of modern traffic-clogged Valencia. We loved the garden and the painting studio with all the props for the artist's sets and models, his library, the wonderful window and north facing skylight. The paintings by Sorolla and sculptures by his brother Mariano were precious. Congratulations, to the curators for a lovely job! If only some preservationists could clean up all the ugly graffiti, Valencia would be a world class architectural site!

What an amazing find. The artist's family home preserved as he left it plus a collection of his art. Very interesting and beautiful space. Don't miss the studio at the end of the garden which was the highlight for us. An amazing collection of ephemera and artistic inspiration. Well worth seeking out.

Unfortunately, I cannot give a good review because this includes the very rude person that greeted us as we opened the door. What do you want!? Not the way guests should be greeted, then spewing out a list of commands on how to go about my visit. When I asked if I did not have a choice on my path through the museum, he gets loud and says he will close the place in an hour. It would have helped to say the closing is in an hour FIRST. Extremely rude person doesn't belong working with visiting public.

The place is a must to visit to get a slight hint of this special Valencian vibe. The inner garden is a hidden gem.

Nice sympathetically kept original rooms gave a feeling of observing who sat where, dressed in what, and taking tea. The art gallery was quite interesting, a little sterile, but he was a pretty good artist, and some of the paintings were lovely. But for me the Garden was best, the vines that are abundant are original, the garden and its veiw of the house are charming, the walls decorated in colourful tile art, the fashion for neat box hedging, the outside kitchen as lovely place for the residents to sit in the sun and embroider or read, and paint.. whatever the household did in the later 19th century.
