There is a sign at this resort that reads "We will take care of you" - they mean it. They go beyond even the extra mile. The host is incredibly kind and helpful. The service and food is outstanding - competing with the best I have experienced in Laos. Lots of thought and care put into all of the services provided here. You don't need to stay in central Pakse, there's nothing you need to be so close to and you can rent motorbikes and book tuktuks from the resort. Very grateful for my stay here.

I can not speak about the resort. But about Ngoc's Cooking Classes: it's fantastic! Even for just one participant Ngoc takes her time, explains very well and under her supervising great meals were created. When I was here we made papaya salad, pad Thai, chicken curry and as dessert mango sticky rice, plus learned how to make coconut milk. So yummy yummy! All cooked food is for own eating, so come hungry ;-) Highly to be recommended!

The Xuanmai Garden Resort is a small hidden paradise a little bit outside of the city centre. The rooms are clean and spacious. The shower is warm and water pressure is good. Breakfast is included and nice. But the best is the helpful host. She helped us organizing our further trip and speaks decent english.

Would definitely recommend to stay at this peaceful place! After a warm welcome we had a delicious dinner and also the breakfast next day was very good. All in all very good value for money and I personally really enjoyed the friendly, supportive & warm-hearted atmosphere of the owner here.

We spent 4 nights here. We were given early access to our room, and it was very comfortable with A/C and came equipped with a mini fridge. Not all units have a fridge. There was a nice seating area just outside our door that looked out to the garden, which we took full advantage of. Ngoc has a restaurant on-site, which we ate at one night, and I did a cooking class that was one-on-one. Breakfast was included in our rate, and her food was delicious. Ngoc helped us with ordering our scooter rental and arranging our transportation to our next destination. She was very attentive to all her customers. We would definitely recommend staying here! 3btraveler

The place is really nice: rooms are big and clean. The restaurant they have is amazing, all we had there was delicious and the hostess is reaaaally nice. The breakfast they offer with the room is also really good with a lot of different options, and the coffee is really good. The only "problem" is that you need a motorbike (or private transport) to move around as it is not near the city center.

We have spent 4 nights at this lovely place and can really recommend it to everyone who is looking for a quiet place with lovely food and a super nice family who runs it! Ngoc does everything to make your stay comfortable, she helps you renting motorbike, she does your laundry, fixes your bus tickets, prepere all your meals when you like, she has cooking classes etc. The rooms are big and very well cleaned every day. The garden, where you can relax, eat and have a juice/coffee/Tea, is absolutely lovely! Ngoc, Her family and staff will make your stay unforgetable!! /Linda & Mattias

This guesthouse is not a Garden Resort. It is located in an ugly built-up area along the main highway several kilometers outside of downtown. The garden mainly consists of the swampy remains of what was once meant to be a pond or a pool, next to a dusty parking lot. Apart from some wooden stools and benches no seating was provided. The biggest letdown was the food. We ordered dinner the first day and were served the blandest Asian food we have ever been served, in Asia or elsewhere. For a cold beer we had to go to a little shop nearby at the highway. As there are no restaurants nearby, we had no other choice but to make the trip into town the next day for dinner. Breakfast was just as bad, with stale bread - served without butter and jam - a gluey pancake and undrinkable coffee. We regretted not having taken some other guesthouse in town where there is at least a certain choice of restaurants. The second star is for the room, which had a decent standard.

I had a perfect stay in Xuanmai Garden Resort. The host will help you with everything. She speaks her English very good. The food is great. And of course the room has everything.

We joined the cooking class with Ngoc, such a good and fun experience. It is an amazing cooking class, you actually get your hands “dirty” and prepare everything with Ngoc’s help. It takes around 5hours to prepare 3 dishes plus dessert! The portions are BIG, I would recomend the Laab (typical laotian dish) and the donuts for dessert! Thanks for everything, def. worth the price 😊. A bit on the outskirts but they pick you up and drop you at your hotel/hostel!

We absolutely loved our stay here with Ngoc and her staff. Ngoc is incredibly helpful and goes out of her way to make sure everything is okay. It is a bit of a way out of the centre but there are bikes you can borrow, or with a scooter everything is much more accessible. In staying that it is very beautiful to sit in the garden and enjoy being away from the noises of town. Thank you Ngoc and all the wonderful staff at Xuanmai!

Highly recommended paradise close to Pakse. Rooms are big, clean and comfortable. The food is tasty - best we had so far in Laos. Stuff is friendly and they go the extra mile. We would definitely come back

We did the cooking class (didn't stay in the resort) and it was so lovely! Great nice owner, delicious food, great place! I bet it's also nice to stay here.

Peaceful quiet place, just outside of the city but not too far from everything. Food is great and Ngoc, the host, is very kind and helpful. We felt welcome.

First of all I felt very welcome. I firmed up very early and unannounced, no problem and the room was ready. There was this instant relaxing atmosphere. As soon as you turn off the main road there is the nice garden complete with pond and little bridge Ngoc will help you with anything, on my first day I couldn't make up my mind about a tour and she had a huge wedding party of her husband's boss. Even from there, she called the gency twice to help me out. The room is spacious, nice and clean and I felt at home straight away. Everything is good, nice spacious bathroom and hot shower! And above all their cooking. I didn't get out for dinner, I just ate here in the relaxing garden. Her mother is a great cook as well 😁 Thank you so much for a great stay. Will recommend this to anyone, traveling alone or together.

One of the best places we stayed in SE Asia so far. The rooms are clean, the food is delicious and the garden is beautiful and invites you to relax. Ngoc and her wonderful staff lets you feel like at home :) Only downside is the distance to the city center, so things like renting a bike is somewhat more expensive (220000 kip/day) as someone needs to bring it, but other than that everything was perfect. We definitely come back if we come to pakse again.

I was there for Miss Nogc's cooking class. She is super knowledgeable about Lao and Vietnamese food and incredibly kind and patient. If you want to experience Laotian culture through cooking. Definitely give Miss Nogc a chance!

We spent several days. During the stay Ms. Ngoc took care of our travel arrangement such as bus trip to Champasak and other day trips. She served us very delicious foods, very impressive taste such as Tom Yankun and cook of local fish. Eating at the restaurant on the second floor was pleasant. We had a good time by the hospitality of Ms. Ngoc and her family.

What a beautiful place! We were very late getting to the resort due to some bus issues. However our host was waiting for us patiently and was so welcoming. We'd hadn't eaten all day and she kindly made us dinner. We had Pad Thai and it was delicious! The room was comfortable and so spacious, and nice hot shower. We wish we'd had more time to stay here, however we had 1 night in Pakse. Again in the morning it was lovely to see our hosts happy face greet us again for breakfast and coffee. She also helped us arrange all our transfers to Thakhek. Such a lovely lady and lovely family. Would 100% recommend to stay here if you're visiting Pakse

Had a lovely time learning how to make caramelized fish and chicken laap. We had the best teacher! Would definitely recommend if you're looking for an activity while in Pakse, definitely cheap (15$ for 2 dishes) and insightful !

Wonderful host; large, comfortable clean rooms, beautiful garden and good, home-coked food available. Also able to hire motor scooters and buy bus tickets.

This place is great for relaxing in Pakse! The lady who runs this place, Ngoc, is a great host and speaks excellent English! You are truly well looked after at this resort and they can keep your luggage stored whilst going on the Bolaven Plateau Loop! We arrived very early in the morning from Vientiane on the night bus, and we were so glad when Ngoc advised us via email that she would make our room ready (with no extra charge) for a 7am check in. This was heaven as it meant we could continue our sleep right after arriving. Breakfast included is quite basic and good. The fruits offered every morning was a huge bonus! We had the omelet every morning and it was nice that they made it healthier adding some greens (kale?) in to it :) As a vegetarian, they were able to accommodate my dietary and made a delicious vegan Vietnamese coconut milk based curry for me in the evenings! Please note that you need to place an order for the dinner on the same evening latest in the noon, so they know what to buy from the market :) The resort also offers a variety of tours if you are interested on those. We purchased our bus tickets to Cambodia from there the day before departure! Don’t be afraid to ask for recommendations from Ngoc, she tipped us to go to this massage place in center where blind people massage you, and it was great! One of the best massages we have had in SE Asia, and we have had loads!!! Now on to the minor negatives (at least for us). The WiFi signal (great speed) is not strong enough to carry a signal in the furthest rooms from the restaurants (which we were staying in) and the resort is located about 5-6km from the town centre. That being said, if you do not like driving a scooter, be prepared to pay for taxi/tuk tuk. A taxi from the resort to centre is 25000kips/person. You can get a tuk tuk back from centre with a price ranging from 15000-50000kips. Also, please note that during the dry season the garden is dry and there is no water in the pond. I would stay here again, if ever in Pakse!

Beautiful spot, friendly people, good food and nice room with a good bed. It's a busy street so you don't expect such a nice place.

The food wasnt so good. Its abit far from center (5km). But it quiet and clean room. But staffs cant talk english even just one word. We asked for a room but they just ran away and hided somewhere. It was unable to order food and drink. We had to go to a store near by to do it. Everything only solved when the owner came. But the worst thing here is I got bitten by a rove beetle when I sat on the table front of my room. I couldnt go to pharmacy because last time when I went there to buy hydrogen peroxide to cleaning my wound, they gave me a box full of pill after seeing my wound... so it wasnt a nice place to stay to me but you guys can try :)))

Tucked into a small side alley, the place is bigger than it seems. It has a really big garden, and plenty of secure parking for bikes or cars. The lady owner speaks english well, and she cooks well too. However, the location is not near anything meaningful but there's a small grocer outside the hotel. All in all, it's well priced and worth the stay.

Loved our time here with our host Ngoc. Our room was spacious and the garden was well maintained creating a relaxing environment. The food that Ngoc cooked for us was great. Very tasty! We took her cooking class which was a fantastic experience. She is a really good cook and explains the cooking process well. Although the location is a bit outside of the town, I would recommend staying here. You'd have a hard time finding a more friendly host. She will organize a motorbike for you to rent so getting around is not a problem. We were sad to leave, but hopefully we will return to Xuanmai Garden Resort in the future.

We had a great time staying here! Ngoc is an amazing host and takes care of any need you might have. Her cooking is wonderful- definitely try a traditional Lao meal while staying with her :) The rooms are very clean and comfortable with good A/C, the property is so well maintained and peaceful, and the breakfasts are made to order and so good. They have bicycles and motorcycles to rent, cooking classes, and laundry services. 10/10 experience; we will be back if we are ever in southern Laos again!

We highly recommend this place! The rooms are clean, the owner is super friendly and helpful, and the food is very tasty! The only downside is the location, but you can just ask for the owner to organise a tuktuk for you :) Also, we did the Paksé loop and left our bags there without any issues.
