😠 Definitely a school for rich kids. I've met students here that are just so unrealistic and stuck up. I've also met professors here that are so in their own world also unrealistic and stuck up, this school was a joke. The professors honestly are artists that couldn't make it so they teach. Definitely... People often mention school, students, fashion, good, classes, professors, time, class, staff, amazing,

Definitely a school for rich kids. I've met students here that are just so unrealistic and stuck up. I've also met professors here that are so in their own world also unrealistic and stuck up, this school was a joke. The professors honestly are artists that couldn't make it so they teach. Definitely a school for students that are ready to focus very hard cause if you're there to have some fun then expect to fail. Some staff are very nice if you can get into the Eop program then you're doing better than most already. Don't let the rich kids make you feel bad with their stuck up attitudes or if you see one of them one day pull up to school in a rolls Royce while you're just stepping out the 1 train. Unless you're a rich kid yourself with tons of mommy and daddy's money I wouldn't recommend this school.

An amazing school for those who want to succeed in a variety of fashion inspired industries. And the cost is fairly affordable for a state university. I studied Home Products Development and Marketing and left the program beyond prepared for the home industry. I had amazing professors who were not only experts in the field, but active in the industry. Add great career and networking opportunities and you get your money's worth.

My old alma mater. My home away from home. I'm a proud graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, and I'm happy to pass by Seventh Avenue and Twenty-seventh Street anytime I can, simply to relive memories of when I was a General Illustration student here. I'm in the area on a sunny day, I'll sit outside on one of the many campus benches or alcoves with a good book and have lunch, reminiscing about the days my fellow artists and I would do the exact same thing between classes. As much as I learned about painting and drawing, I learned just as much about friendships, relationships, and LIFE that have guided me through my path in the ensuing years. Some of those friendships and relationships have ended and others miraculously and happily carry on---as have the artistic lessons I learned from F.I.T., the place, and I say this with no small amount of exaggeration, that changed my life for the better. If you're reading this, and you happen to be a graduate of this school, you'll know what I mean. And if you're reading this and thinking of ATTENDING this institution, you'll EVENTUALLY know what I mean.

One of the few worldwide institutions for high fashion research, education and development.

I went to this so-called school and was very disappointed and extremely annoyed. First off, the curriculum for the majors are mostly liberal arts classes than classes that pertain to your major it's a serious waste of time. And the classes are very redundant it's like you're taking the same classes over and over again every semester. Secondly, this school is ridiculously expensive it has the same costs as a private university which FIT is not its more like a community college if that. And you're paying all that money to take liberal arts classes with so called professors that I don't even consider professors- they are just there for the paycheck and weren't even teaching the material that pertained to the class they just talk about they're lifestory. What are you really paying for? This so called school is a serious waste of money it's extremely ridiculous. Thirdly, the students and the faculty and staff are very rude and racist -yes that's right racist. I can't believe this school gets away with the amount of racism that goes on in that school- I'm definitely reporting them. There were even staff members that would be extremely racist towards me and I wonder how they're getting away with it in a school. FIT is very disappointing in every way . I have no idea how they get away with the things that go on there-some of the things are even illegal. It's funny how everybody who likes fashion wants to go to school here and then get a job in fashion because reality is a lot of students don't even get jobs in their field when they graduate the closest they get is being a sales associate at a clothing store- another disappointment. I only gave them one star because I had to.

I'm an alumni and trust me, you will meet some good professors. But lots of the professors are unqualified and there is absolutely no way for student to complaint nor department take it seriously. I recently decided to come back for continuous study courses and against all the information that was provided on their website, instructor had issue with industry professional taking the course. Isn't that what continuous studies are about? Regardless FIT's official website description, instructor "recommended" me to withdrawal. I had pre-qualified class 99.89% score. Nor I intrupted the class. Despites all the odds, it was more so personal feeling/descrimination. Of course, department didn't care and simply refunded the course fee. I officially brought this issue to their student affair team, assistant executive emailed me and said "under investigation", never replied. I bet it is all under the rug by now. FIT knows that students will give up and no justice will happen. Regardless how inappropriate, discriminatory, unfair their employees or faculties are. Therefore, few good employees and faculties are always over worked and often leave the school. This is good school until you are the next person who are unfairly treated or get into an accident.

First year in school, just finish my first semester , all of my professor is very very effective in teaching , love my FBM first semester, love my BSN professor Christine Straggazi, very smart lecturer knows how to help you with professional growth. Best learning experience so far. If you came here to learn Fashion knowledges and willing to work hard, this place is a heaven, if you just want to waste time this place will be a hell for you.

The main fashion exhibit was closed, but the current Shoes exhibit was fascinating. The history of design and heels vs flats, and the evolution of design.

My feelings are mixed about this College. I am happy to have the instructors I had for the few classes I took, but was very displeased with the rude, condescending, admission advisor Catherine. Not only was she pretty nasty over the phone but boasted about how well she was paid. It made me realize that I was not interested in contributing to the salary of such a person. With this new day in age, we don't have to go through the ridiculous, overpriced institution of College / Universities for an education. Technology has opened so many other doors for learning, practicing and advancing while offering convenience and an opportunity to avoid Debt. I'm so much more happy taking online courses at my leisure, connecting and learning directly from artists that I admire and respect, and saving from inconveniences of travel, traditional class scheduling, and additional expenses. I withdrew from my plan on taking further courses at FIT and still have not received my refund from those classes which I withdrew (2 months+).

FIT is a good school, but not if you have a disability. They have a disability department, but they do NOT educate their professors, and most of their professors are very unprofessional when it comes to students with disabilities. If you have a disability, think twice before attending this school. The added stress of fighting for your rights may not be something that you want on top of school work.

Full disclosure: I work here. Want to state how amazing this school is, especially when you consider that it is a State School and still ranks among the highest rated fashion schools in the world. Tuition is far lower that what you would end up paying to go other top schools. The students are talented, ambitious, respectful and fun.

Very unique. I would not know it's a school if I just walked by. Although it is located between busy blocks but the inside had a very quiet and peaceful spot! Amazing

More than just stuff for students here. Great seminars, presentations and short term summer courses. Get on the mailing list to get the schedules. They even offer 1 day city tour classes at reasonable prices.

Floral arranging class 101. Having no experience my bouquet turned out beautifully. Learned a few impactful tricks of the trade to give arrangements symmetry, fullness, and vibrant color. Best part, you get to take your arrangement home, vase and all!

I adore this museum and go there all the time. They are all fashion studies, with dresses donated for the shows. Dresses by Chanel, Dior, Bob Mackie, Alexander McQueen. Way too many to mention. Let’s just say everyone who is anybody in fashion. One year they had a Goth exhibit that was mind blowing. What a place to learn, appreciate design, and just enjoy the talents of these amazing fashion icons.

What's up F.I.T. that little pride flag you have in the window is so lame. Would rather have seen a cool display. It's kind of an insult. Nothing would actually be better.

As someone who is about to graduate from the school, it’s been a lot of fun. The teachers are really nice and you have a Lot of opportunities to express yourself. They honestly don’t judge for your background or what you like they instead like to embrace it. Some teachers I love have to be : Mr.Jimenez truly a sweetheart, mrs. abraskin,mr kearns , Ms . Brock , mr A!!, the 11th grade counselor Ms.Marin And of course the wonderful hsfi team and Mr blank ♥︎ thank for such amazing years I am grateful that I was a student here love you guys and good luck to the new students your in good hands!!❣️

I only rate the exterior of the building - amazing! The walls completely covered in murals, all valid but some truly beautiful. I passed by in the late evening, otherwise I would have gladly visited the interior. Expression, style, imagination: if you walk around the city, waste half an hour, it's worth it!

My daughter attended this university, the staff don’t provide no resources or help students navigate any request. They make it difficult for all students. Why do they even work there when they don’t help them. The students pay tuition, supplies, etc. and paying out of state tuition can be expensive and they treated them like they are stupid.

Horrible experience! I paid my tuition and created my student profile, then two weeks later I was told I didn’t pay enough. And dis-enrolled from the class. Attempted to resolve the situation multiple times and each time the price went up more. I asked multiple, specific questions about the curriculum and still have not received any answers. Do NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY! They don’t care about you.

don’t even think about going to this school I have experience discrimination in this school multiple times and yet nothing was done to give me justice or solve the issue the school also overworks it’s students to the point where they get sick the professors don’t care about your well being also they make you pay for supplies where half of the time you don’t even use all of the supplies and they also have poor communication skills

A little hard to get around with the construction going on all over (it sometimes feels like). My daughter attends FIT, she worked very hard to get accepted. A great place to learn if that is your field of study. Good Luck all FIT students with your future. You worked so hard to get here your rewards should be plentiful and personally satisfying.
