Gumbo Limbo is such a beautiful nature center. I have two kids (2 & 4) and they love it here. Beautiful sightings of butterflies 🦋, turtles 🐢, lots of fish 🐠, and sting ray too!!! There is a variety of things to see here. I believe it’s free access, but they do accept donations. This is a great activity whether it’s summer time, after school or something to do on the weekend with family. I love that it is stroller friendly, a huge plus! Bring your sunscreen and enjoy nature’s beauty!

100% recommended! Perfect place to go and have a nice time with the kids. My kids ages 9 and 5 really enjoyed it. The fishes are appreciated very well and they look super happy. Interesting information displayed everywhere. The people who work and the volunteers are very friendly and they are always ready to answer the children's questions. We will come back every time we visit Florida. Thanks for such a good job!

The Gumbo Limbo Nature Center is a fun place to take the family. This place should get an extra star for the good they do in saving Sea Turtles. Highly educational in the world of the ocean especially with Sea Turtle preservation, this place is one not to miss. I enjoyed the feeding of the fish and turtles in the two large deep aquariums and the two large shallow tanks. The facilities are very nice and the nature trail is something to enjoy. I like the education on Turtle lighting and found out that there are 7 types of Sea Turtles and the Florida waters are home to 6 of them. Bet you didn’t know that. If so, you listened better than me in oceanography class. The gift shop is small, but has all the typical Florida stuff and the full size turtle statues out front are fun for a photo opportunity and the kids love to play on them. I will be back...

This place is simply amazing. A turtle rescue that does so much more and educate people on the well being of Florida Coast marine life. They ask for donations as entry fee so be generous, it is for a good cause 🐠🦈🐢🌊🤩🤩

Wonderful place to visit for a walk in nature. There is a boardwalk, butterfly garden, marine life viewing areas, and the sea turtle rehab center, as well as a beautiful gift shop. And the most amazing thing is - it's free! Great for all ages.

Great place to visit with kids, to learn about sea life and have fun for a couple of hours. The boardwalk is a great experience to get into the natural Floridian vegetation (don't know if you can call it a forest). The fish tanks are great because they have big windows where kids can enjoy the experience. I recommend to visit just before midday, because the feed the fishes at 12:30. The Florida Atlantic University have a lab there, where you can learn about the life circle of sea turtles. There is also a butterfly garden with a path where kids can run around (there are some mosquitos so be aware).

See all the Turtles being cared for and those that could not be returned to the wild! Also a Butterfly Garden and boardwalk nature trail. Free admission, accept donations. Gift shop on site.

This was our 3rd visit here. The place is so beautiful! There’s so much nature and wildlife to see. We went early and were treated with several banana spiders, orb Weavers, crabs, woodpecker and a raccoon on the trail. The nature center itself is so well kept, beautiful sea life to enjoy. The staff are incredibly nice and helpful. We learn so much every time.

This place was really neat. It's free which is very cool. You can donate money if you would like. They have about 4 big aquariums. What was also cool, they had people next to the different viewing areas to explain different types of fish or how the water is fed into the tank, etc. That was educational which we appreciated. Also the butterfly garden was great to explore and as you follow a trail past the garden you are led to a small beach or inlet where we saw a manatee. Overall we had a great visit.

What an amazing experience. The work this organization does to protection Turtle 🐢 is so important to the protection of these animals. You will fall in love with turtle's after touring the center. Make sure you stop by the gift shop. 100% of the store proceeds go to benefit the center. From Postcards to posters, food to fashion, toys to totes, there is something for everyone and it's all eco friendly. Come visit and make a difference in the world.

This was a great experience. The parking lot isn’t huge, so depending on how busy it is, it can be a little tricky with parking. It’s free to get in, but they have a box and a gift shop to collect donations so they can operate. Great opportunity for kids and animal lovers. They rehab turtles from the area. Too cool. The staff were polite and knowledgeable. Just be sure to check their hours before showing up. Some parts may close earlier in the day depending on the day.

Was in Boca for a day and a half and was looking to do something outdoorsy with my significant other. This spot was perfect for that. Doesn’t cost anything to enter but they expect you to pay at least $5 per person to keep their business open. They are open for a good cause and rehabbing turtles is one of their main specialities. If you got a few hrs to kill, this is a cool spot to go with someone of ANY AGE. I thought their fish tanks were pretty fascinating.

It was very informative, and the staff were extremely knowledgeable. There's so much more behind the scene that nobody sees. Well worth the visit. Admission is free, and contributions are welcome. They do amazing rehabilitation and rescue efforts that most have no understanding of. They provide expert knowledge and willing to share such. I can't say enough about this organization. Much more than a general aquarium tour. Special thanks to Mrs. Whitney, Mrs Lara, and Mr. Bryon. Definitely will be returning.

Absolutely superb experience at Gumbo Limbo Nature Center! Free admission (we weren’t sure when we first walked in, but the staff was incredibly attentive, patient, kind, and informative. This center not only provides education to visitors of all ages, but provides crucial services to help sea turtles survive and thrive! They have a hatching center that you can see down into; we came just before the expected hatching week; but can wait to go back so we can see FAU taking care of the turtles after they hatch. While this center is free, they encourage donations, we would highly recommend everyone donate at least some funds to help out their cause. If you don’t have cash, there are some convenient card donation machines in the gift shop. Lots to do and see, I would highly recommend a visit here.

This is a great place for any age to visit and learn more about the beloved Florida Sea Turtles. There is no admission fee. Actual research and rehabilitation happens on-site in cooperation with Florida Atlantic University. There is a beautiful walk that goes through a butterfly garden and stops along the Intracoastal waterway. It wasn't an overcrowded attraction but there was not a shortage of visitors. The Aquarium has a huge eel like I've never seen before. They even sell a stuffed version of this character in the gift shop. If you are local or visiting it's worth checking out on a beach day.

This place is a free gem. A quick walk across A1A from the Atlantic Ocean. The aquatic nature center is Interesting and informative for kids, adults and seniors. Fish of all sizes and species are freely swimming in large aquarium tanks or pools. Small seahorses and other aquatic life are on display in an indoor lab. Students from the FAU School of Environmental, Coastal, and Ocean Sustainability (ECOS) are available to answer questions. It was a windy day when I visited, so there was no activity in the butterfly area.

Absolutely so much fun! Adults and children both can enjoy! They have huge, huge tanks with all sorts of fish that come straight up to the window and tanks with baby sea turtles that they are nursing and protecting. There's a cute little gift sho other I fell in love with. Everything from necklaces, bracelets, shark teeth, turtle trinkets, and more. I had an absolute ball coming here. Come support this place!

Excellent conversation center focused on local ecology, especially in understanding and aiding Sea Turtles. Pretty amazing to see all of the different hatchery rooms and rehabilitation rooms and all of the hard work that goes into it. Great boardwalks meander through forest-like areas. And eventually lead to an open area with beautiful views (photos). Cool aquarium in the entrance building as well as a fun gift shop. Useful poster on Florida’s venomous snakes for anyone interested!

Had a great time at Gumbo Limbo. This is a great place to bring the kids for cheap. There are tanks with sea turtles being rehabilitated as well as several aquarium tanks with all sorts of fish and creatures! My favorite were the pufferfish! Every where was pretty wheelchair accessible and there were plenty of bathrooms.

The last time I had visited here was over 15 years ago, so it was a treat to take my children to a place I enjoyed on school trips! Very educational place, and the lessons they teach about the animals and their importance to our fragile ego system was great for our 4 year old! My 2 year old just loved the 2 large aquariums and the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation tanks. The people here and kind and very knowledgeable, and I appreciate their willingness to teach and answer questions. They have a beautiful butterfly garden, but these days it’s a bit too got to spend a lot of time there, the kids did not enjoy the heat. Most of this place is outside, and I’m thinking of trying again end of the year when it’s a bit cooler. My fav part was the Boardwalk from the parking lot next door to the Center, it’s a beautiful walk in nature, and I got a ton of pics. But you don’t need to park there to walk it! Notes: overflow parking next door is not free, it’s pay by hour. Also, it’s $5 donation to visit here and I highly suggest paying as the proceeds help this wonderful place keep going, as well as help it’s Animal residents cared for. Bring Water/Snacks/Comfy Shoes too!

I walked on the Gumbo Limbo boardwalk that’s between Ocean Blvd. Parking which is to the south and attached to the Golf Course and the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center. The boardwalk is almost half a mile with a couple of side trails. You can go into the Nature Center for free but they ask for donations. Suggested $5.00 donation per person. That’s a great deal. I’m sure it’s only a small part of what keeps this place running. There is also a gift shop off the main room that has very nice gifts. Everything is a bit expensive but you are helping to support Gumbo Limbo so it’s fine. My wife got a nice canvas shoulder bag with a turtle on it. Now that the Nature Center is reopened to the public I went there with my wife and my mother. I didn’t really know what to expect inside the Nature Center. Once inside there are a few exhibits to look at. The woman at the desk asked us if we needed a map and suggested that we go to see the Turtle talk downstairs. We just happened to arrive just before this talk was starting So we headed off down to the lower lever. There is a long ramp that switches back for wheelchair or walkers to easily use. There were about 20 people there listening to the talk. It was about the different turtles in the tanks there. She explained a little about each turtle and why it was there. Gumbo Limbo is made up of four different parts. Boardwalk, Turtle rescue, Fish, Butterfly garden. The butterfly garden is on the north end and it has a path called Ashley Trail that heads around and down to the intercoastal where there is a small beach and bench. It’s a good place to relax and look at the water. Entering the water is not allowed. The Outdoor Marine Aquariums are amazing. Two large tanks about three feet deep with windows so you can view the fish swimming from above or through the windows plus another two tanks over ten feet deep that you view through large windows. We spend a long time watching the fish, rays, turtles, eels moving around the tanks. Signs identify each of the different species. Gumbo Limbo is run by both paid employees and volunteers. Talking to one volunteer she said that they are made up of year round and some snow bird volunteers. Everyone is friendly and helpful. We will be back to both walk the boardwalk and to visit the Nature Center.

This places is great and so are the people that volunteer here. The sea horses seem to be the biggest hit. My fav is the fish tank as some of the fish will follow you around. Such a cool educational place to take kids! Seeing the rescued turtles and learning about their stories and rehabilitation was really cool. My son loves Spider-Man, and one of the rescues was named Peter Parker, so he loved watching her (it was a girl!) It’s an amazing establishment to be caring for these creatures. There’s also a lot of information on how littering decomposes and the effects of the materials in the water. Staff was very friendly and seemed to care very much about their work!

This is a fantastic place to go to and to enjoy some amazing aquatic setups. They have a really interesting turtle talk. They also have gopher turtles roaming a large section. The gift shop is very nice. They are currently working on the boardwalk that goes to the north side. It seems as though they will be done in under a year. The FAU research section is quite the sight to see.

These people do really great work saving the sea turtles! The boardwalk is great and ends by a park with a bbq pit and table. I read the review that said they were thrown out when they tried to feed their kids in the car and can't believe that's what happened. While it is free, there is a suggested donation of $5. If you go, please give that donation so these people can continue working on wildlife!

So glad we decided to stop by! It was a recommendation from a couple we met in Juno Beach, since the Loggerhead place over there did not have sea turtles. It is such a neat and good sized knowledge center. They are free to the public and welcome donations. It should really charge an entrance fee, because all the care they provide to the sea turtles and their habitat is expensive! If you can make a donation, please do so :) They have 3 tanks in which each of them houses sea life from different environments in the ocean. You get to see the volunteers feed the fish, they do a turtle talk, you can ask questions about the turtles that are being cared for, see rescued hatchlings and see butterflies. You can easily spend 2 hours here learning about sea turtles, why they are important to the world and why we need to help by recycling and refusing plastic. They do offer sea turtles nest walks and hatchings releases during the summer, but those fill fast and you have to do the reservation in advance. No walk ins since space is limited. Parking is free, the entrance right off A1A, there are water stations throughout and volunteers are mire than happy to answer questions or give information. John at the turtle station was awesome and full of knowledge! Everyone was nice, friendly and happy to show you the importance of keeping the ocean and it's creatures cared for. Thanks for a good time!

10-09-2020 Gumbo Limbo remains CLOSED to the public due to COVID. Although Google shows it is open, call first to verify. It is a fantastic facility aimed at Sea Turtle and marinelife rehabilitation, with top-notch volunteers and staff that love to educate visitors about the varieties of sea Turtles under their care. Make sure to visit once they reopen! (The boardwalk remains open with parking south of the facility... Signs direct you to parking) A nice view of the intercoastal at the west end.

A friend took me here and was overjoyed he did. It’s 20 acres with 4 aquariums, butterflies, trails, living coral reefs and they conduct conservation research. Free.

(Translated by Google) It is an amazing place that does an extraordinary job. They are responsible for recovering marine spices mainly turtles, the place is very beautiful and their workers are willing to tell you about the history of each turtle recovered. Admission is free, but a donation of about $ 5 per person is estimated, which is worth it since they do a great job. Excellent walk to do as a family. (Translated by Google) Gumbo Limbo is a cool center for the care of turtles and fish and rays. People are terrible because they harm turtles and other animals, but people from the center treat and release turtles into the ocean. It is such a curiosity that fishing nets in Florida have a hole for the flow of turtles, and other states do not have it. Nice volunteers worked there, and they were seniors. Pracowali tam mili wolontariusze, a byli nimi seniorzy.

Very nice facility. The nature walk was done very well, nice boardwalk. Spoke with several employees and all were very pleasant and informative.

What a great stop, the sea turtle rescue section was a real gem with friendly & knowledgeable volunteers ready to talk about the turtles in their rescue program. The butterfly garden was nice as well as the wetland boardwalk, too bad you couldn't get more of a view of the water while on the boardwalk.

If you haven’t been here yet, MAKE IT A POINT TO GO. It’s beautiful and so well maintained and the staff are amazing! What this place stands for creates the hope we need in humanity. There’s a donation of $5 per person requested upon entrance which goes to maintaining everything. There’s trails, a gift shop, you can see where the turtles are being rehabilitated, there’s a bunch of other fish too! It’s so nice that places like this exist because zoos are completely inappropriate and I believe unless the animals are hurt or in danger or endangered, they should be in their natural habitats! A great place for kids, and even some adults to learn how bad plastics are for not only the ocean but life as well.

Spent nearly a full day at the centre, plenty to see and do. Exmouth is a great place to visit with plenty of diving, fishing, surfing, great beaches, hikes, nature and history to explore. Could stay in this region for weeks and not run out of things to do.

Lovely centre and aquarium. Worth a visit. However I wanted to buy a souvenir but nobody to serve me. Dissapointed that there are no land tours available. We are elderly woman without a car and would have liked to have seen some of the countryside however no public buses or taxis and no bus tours available

The nature center is really lovely. It's a small suggested donation to get in so it can make for a great low cost option for a family outting. You can see the turtles being rehabilited, their are large fish tanks to enjoy, some baby turtles, and a small tank with sea horses. We tried to butterfly section but it's not really the season so we saw about two butterflys. Instead we did get chewed alive by mosquitos so bring insect repellent if you want to check out the butterfly section.

My new favorite nature center! All the typical nature center activities (trails, butterfly garden) plus Turtles, Turtles, Turtles and more Turtles! The beautiful "shipwreck tank" aquarium is also a highlight and can be viewed outdoors. Admission is free but I hope you'll make a donation (easy to do with the self-service credit card donation machines I'm the lobby). We went on a super busy day over winter break and it was VERY DIFFICULT to find parking, but the bathrooms were still clean and the buildings still did not feel crowded.

This is a place I have visited several times when I am down in Florida. As an environmental educator, it gives me great joy to visit a place that is designed to educate the public about our environment and how we can participate in taking better care of our local places and spaces. Gumbo Limbo does an amazing job with providing visitors with a feel for the local flora and fauna while also rescuing and rehabilitating some of the poor victims of disease or human caused injuries. The paths, trails, boardwalks, butterfly gardens, nature center and more give plenty to do for people of all ages. Love this place!

It’s free to visit, spend an afternoon and learn much about turtle rehabilitation, humans effects on marine life and more!

Great place to take the kids. My kids always enjoy being here. They have lots of interesting things plus a great hiking area. It’s very calming at the same time very fun to be at. Kids playground is great for parents to rest while kiddos take all their energy out to continue enjoying the museum. Their gift shop is also a great place to get something little to remember the place by.

It was pretty good, you can't complain because it's free of charge which doesn't really happen anywhere these days... some of it was closed due to building projects going on ... I can recommend a visit ...take some Moskito spray with you for the butterfly garden...my wife was eaten alive from them...
