This is a hidden gem! On Wednesdays they have open mic from 7 pm to 10 pm. So many talented acts! Each person normally plays 2 songs, so it’s a great variety of live music. Live music also Thursdays and Fridays. The food is also amazing!!! The burger and fries are to die for and the nachos is huge and tasty. Super casual and lay back atmosphere. And easy parking.

A few minutes drive from the St. Pete Pier, this no frills tavern with a surprisingly good-sized menu is a must. Don't be mislead by the cheap eats and parking lot view from the deck. Wonderful live music and a rustic tavern feel make you forget where you are. We had wings, burgers (cooked to taste), South West wrap with a side of Sriracha aioli, Buffalo shrimp, and a quesadilla. Everything came out fairly quickly and tasted amazing. The fries had a pleasant sweetness to their spice. A cooler of canned drinks and beers on tap round out the bar. Staff was super nice and laid back and the cool band took requests. Would totally go back!

If I could give them 7 stars I would! Literally everything I’ve had there has been amazing as well as the staff. And the fried grouper sandwich definitely lives up to its name with a homemade bun and homemade tarter. I can’t believe they’re not slammed 24/7.

They have a nice selection of food on the menu. Everyone was friendly and food came out fast. There was live music which I enjoyed. This place is worth a visit.

If you're looking for an aesthetic cute little spot for your perfectly curated Instagram feed, this is not that. But if you're looking for some banging affordable lunch, this is the one. I would have never discovered this place if I didn't work at a place within walking distance. And let me tell you, that would have been entirely my loss. This is a great spot to grab lunch with colleagues or pop in with a friend for a bite. Be mindful that the restaurant is technically on USF St. Pete's campus, so when class is in session you may have longer wait times. There's ample outdoor seating and parking right out front. Apparently they have live music but I've never been when that's going on. GET THE FRIED GROUPER SANDWICH OR GET THE SHRIMP PO BOY. You'll thank me later.

What a great find! Tucked away among the trees is this super cute and casual restaurant and bar. Our quesadilla had just the right amount of heat, the hamburger was thick and juicy, and the seasoned fries were the bomb! Plus, live entertainment on Thursday!!! Way to hit it out of the park!

Stopped in unexpectedly for one of their famous Grouper sandwiches. I got the crunchy—coated with corn flakes and slivered almonds! Delicious and FRESH. Very comfy and casual dining where you order at the counter. The place was crowded but the service was fast and efficient. Will definitely go back and try another style of Grouper.

One of the best, if not the best open mic 🎤🎤 my husband and I have ever attended. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and it was mouth watering. This wonderful place also had kombucha, so you know I'm happy. I highly recommend this place.

We came for a quick dinner before the Rays game and loved our visit. The staff are very friendly and the food came fast. You have to get the Fish Spread: smoked mullet served with banana peppers, jalapeno peppers and crackers. It's so good!! I had grilled grouper to die for, perfectly seasoned. We will definitely be returning!

Quiet bar type place with outdoor seating and good food. Great for kids, families, and everybody else. Shrimp po’boy was good, nachos were good, and the burger was a little thin but it had good flavor (Mac and cheese burger) forgot to put steak in the quesadilla but they got it resolved. Not too loud and not too expensive. Right next to campus

They were sadly out of grouper, one of their main items. The fried ravioli was a little over cooked, not burnt but too dark. I order my hamburger medium well and it was only medium cook when it arrived. My friend ordered a southwest wrap and sent it back for them to warm up (traditionally served cold so just his preference) which they did gladly. The service was great, the grouper chowder was good and the burger was good give or take on the cook of the meat. But nice toppings, seasoning, etc. The reason I gave a 4 and not a 3 was because the atmosphere with outside seating and live music was nice and the service was really good. I think this place could be 5 star with a small bump, and am hoping maybe they were just having a slightly off night.

The best offerings at The Tavern at Bayboro are the grouper offerings. Sold out tonight so I ordered the Steak & Cheese sandwich. Very tasty, loaded with steak with fried onions and peppers. If you like steak sandwiches you need to try one here. All I can say is I wish it was a bit bigger... otherwise a tasty sandwich.

One thing I can't keep to myself is this delicious grouper sandwich from The Tavern. 🤤🐟 Made in the traditional fashion, this sandwich is seriously one of the best I've ever had. And if you're feeling adventurous, they also have a cornflakes crusted version! 🤩 #FloridaTrip #GrouperSandwich #TheTavernDowntownStPete #TraditionalRecipe #CornflakesCrusted #Foodie #Travelgram"

Grouper sandwich was amazing! Best I ever had! Music was great too! A little loud but it was okay because it was good music!

Some of the best bar food in St Pete. All the sandwiches are great. Some of the nicest servers. A great place to hang out.

Grilled cheese had very little cheese and the bread was burned. We waited for 20 minutes for it! We also ordered a mini key lime pie to share - it was 3” diameter! Two of us had a taste and it was more like a pudding with a premade Graham cracker crust. Very disappointing. As a group the 5 of us we agreed on a 1 star review.

We got the fried grouper sandwich (huge fish portion), onion rings, and the MOS (a mushroom onion and swiss hamburger). All were good. The grouper has a crispy almond and cornflakes batter. You can get it like 8 ways though so fried is not necessary. It dwarfed the bun. My major complaint is that we got a tiny souffle cup of tartar for a huge piece of fish. It would have been better with more tartar sauce. Grouper sandwich 4/5 (5 if more tartar) $13.75 MOS 4/5 ~$9 Onion rings 5/5 ~$4 As for the building, it's an interesting old cottage repurposed as a restaurant with outdoor and indoor seating. You bus your own dishes and get your own condiments though. Keep in mind this spot is on the USF campus which can get busy during the day.

Stopped in based on reviews. Fantastic service on a Wednesday late afternoon. Got a grilled grouper sandwich, though, I believe the play here is one of the more intricate grouper sandwiches. Grilled is obviously the healthy way to go, but, they’re crunchy is very good, and I’ll probably do their grouper reuben next time. Eclectic inside, plenty of space outside.

Went there last Thursday, after a friend took me flying out of Albert Whitted Airport. Service was fast and food was hot and the beer was cold. He had a grouper specialty sandwich that he said was very good. My Cuban was very good as well. In my opinion, just as good as the famous place on Central, at a lower cost. The only issue is the owner is a Georgia fan...:) For good food and cold beer, I can look past that.

I was there for a private event so our food was probably different than their normal menu items. Prior to the rush of our group arriving they had tables full of cups of beer already - Summer Shandy is always a hit. Great outdoor eating areas.

Cute Pub and Cafe. Reminds me of being in a North East fishing village. The owner spoke about the history of the building and it used to be a wood workshop in the 1930's-1940's. Equipped with a boat hoist to repair wooden boats. Great brews, great food, great atmosphere and great service. I even left my phone outside and the owner spotted it, and waited till I showed up. 5/5 ⭐'s
