Simply excellent, no words left after seeing a flock of 5000+ flamingoes.

This is the best natural reserve we have ever been! We joined the tour and saw all the special birds including purple swanphens and squacco heron. The tour guide Mauro really made the whole experience really special, thank you for hosting us and sharing the stories and birds information with us. Feel really nice to see the staffs are extremely caring to the birds and people, it’s a great example of co-existing with animals and show respect to them :) If you’re around, don’t miss out!

Absolutely love this place. For anyone who enjoys birdwatching, especially for waders, and especially for those who are used to walking around nature reserves with observation hides, this is a must. There are many places one can birdwatch from in and around Lisbon, but what EVOA does is special and uncommon in Portugal - they have several hides and a photography shelter. Care is taken to manage water levels and to keep disturbances to a minimum. Visit in winter for a quiet time (but plenty of wintering birrds!) and avoid summer weekends where it might b busier.

Beautiful visitors centre, easy paths and lovely hides with so much to see. Cafe for drinks and tpilets. Interesting displays. Saw lots of birds. Difficult to get to without a guide so plan it was part of a day trip as 45 min taxi from train station.

Little known spot but well worth a visit. I always noticed this area which looks beautiful when flying into Lisbon during the approach to the airport and managed to locate it on Google Maps. Then I discovered there was a bird watching center - EVOA. We visited as a family and it is great to show kids the huge diversity of birds they have around. This is a great weekend walk / activity.

Unexpected to find that kind of facilities in the middle of nowhere, pretty cool

It is truly heartening to see agricultural and industrial areas being reclaimed and rehabilitated as wildlife habitat, and this is a wonderful example of how well it can be done. Plus, the visitor center and staff are a treat. Knowledgeable, friendly, and committed to the health of the environment, they also make a great cappuccino. There are few places I know of where you can sit on the balcony and sip a latte (or a beer) while racking up 50+ species in the surrounding wetlands.

If you visiting Lisbon and want to make some birding, than you definetly should consider visiting this spot with three lagoons with shelters around where you can see many spieces not only in Evoa but also during the country road that takes you there. Although better in winter than in summer you can see spieces in summer that you can't during winter.

Apparently birdwatching is not a big hobby in Portugal and I have no clue why because the area is a paradise with so many species and the Evoa visitor centre is a pristine air conditioned cafe with lovely food and super friendly staff

The dusty gravel roads leading up to the Visitor Centre trick you into thinking there won't be much at the end. But just WOW. The building is a Grand Design and the Wildlife around is something else. From Zitting Cisticola's to Flamingo. There are plenty of Bird species to take in on a well designed circuit path. Wonderful

Amazing experience even out of migratory season. Plenty of flamingo, black winged stilt, spoonbill, glossy ibis, purple heron, Marsh harrier, black kite, black winged kite. Throughly enjoyed my visit

Great place to get close to Flamingos, spoonbills, different species of ducks and waders, warblers and so on without disturbing them. Perfect place for taking photos! Admission was 14€ which we found rather steep at first but after discovering all the view towers and the effort they put into building that, I found it absolutely worth it.

Didn't actually go on the paid tour but, seemed well a organised tour centre. Friendly and professional staff.
