My friends and I had a great experience. The coffee was great, the staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was accommodating. They sell some merch inside the shop, and there's a viewing area for where they grind the beans and roast the coffee. The only downsides are that they don't have tables inside and they don't have restrooms for patrons. They have several tables outside, but it can be tough to relax there on windy days.

Metric Coffee is a cozy place that during the warmer months offers outdoor seating. Their mocha was very good as well as their lattes. you can buy at the store or order online. Take home and brew or buy ready. their service was fast and accurate. have come back for pickup and soon we will eat outside once it starts getting warmer again.

Needed to fuel up for the long day planned in Chicago, so finally went to Metric Coffee! They’re currently working on their fall seasonal menu, so we went with our go-to’s (honey oat latte and pour over). Had to grab a bag of the beans to take home was really good!

3.8 | great coffee shop that came recommended as a spot with great roasts and specialty coffee. the service was good, the coffee was great, and atmosphere was nice, though it seemed a bit cold. not temperature wise, although it is Chicago in the fall lol, but I think sometimes you can walk into a spot and tell the atmosphere is just a bit tense. might be over projecting here but I also know the coffee industry can be difficult. I would go back and recommend for just a good drip or pour over. the espresso was a tab bitter but the flavor profile I could tell was still good. I also enjoyed the squash and rosemary scone. very unique.

Coffee roaster tucked away in an industrial area. Most of what they sell goes to businesses but there is a small storefront and shop. High quality drip, pour overs, and lattes - some of the best I've had in the city. Pastries are brought in and also very good - but limited in supply! There is no seating indoors but weather permitting there are tables and chairs outside.

This spot is the real deal. If you’re looking for high quality coffee in Chicago, don’t miss it! I visited Chicago this weekend and was already planning to go, but several shops I went to beforehand sold their coffee, so the hype only grew. Didn’t disappoint in the least. Bought some of their beans.

Bought some coffee beans for a friend who is really into it. My coffee knowledge is pretty limited. The employee behind the counter was pretty helpful and knowledgeable with suggesting a bean for my friend that she would like based off of what she's had before. Coffee smelled delicious and the space was well-designed, and also had some limited-run beans. Would love to come back and get some coffee for myself next time I'm in town :)

Great coffee! Workers aren't overly friendly or anything. Food was ok (no donuts for a couple weeks :( ). Atmosphere is diff, just small place (take out only)

Delcious coffee. Great attention to detail as you might expect from a name like metric. Great space to see the roasting process. Nice patio if you want to sit outside and sip away.

All the big coffee outlets are a scam. Visit your neighborhood coffee shops. Metric coffee is an example. Amazing coffee.

One of the only places with good coffee that I found during my trip in Chicago. Their flat whites are correctly made and the coffee beans must be tried. There’s a nice small terrace outside. 4 stars because they’re not allowing customers to use the bathroom, which I found rather weird.

Went on a nice crisp winter morning. Arrived near opening as my number one goal was to get donuts. I'd heard good things. Storefront is small but their coffee is good. I got one of each most were all fine but the biggest issue was the chocolate orange cake donut. It was hyper saturated in grease. My partner spat hers out and didn't have more than one bite. Not only was it super greasy, it was also as crispy as a potato chip. I love donuts and will eat any kind delicious fresh old stale. This donut is probably one of the only donuts I have never finished in my life. Appalling for anyone who knows me which speaks to how utterly bad that donut was.

Visited from Michigan. Staff were so nice. There was a line but they didn’t rush to get to the next person. They’re intentional and it shows through their coffee. When I shared w/ friends that I got to visit - they also said amazing things about Metric. Nice job! Best espresso I had on this trip.

coffee was good but service was literally a 1/10. Also, there's no seating inside the cafe. They do have tables and chairs setup outside though! Just make sure the weather is suitable enough. We went when it was raining and so we stood inside & finished our donut and coffees!

Perfectly textured milk is an art form. Not to discount their fantastic latte art abilities, but latte art does not ensure perfect texture. Anyone practiced can do latte art with milk that is ~80% of what “perfect texture” is. Steaming milk is easy to get good at, but very difficult to master. Different drinks require different milk temperatures (based on the ratio of milk:espresso since espresso is hotter), and levels of aeration (the amount of foam). The barista must be conscious of these variables while still creating a dense micro-foam that doesn’t collapse as you sip. Kudos to the training and passionate culture present at Metric. They do many things superbly, but from my experience, they do milk perfectly.

Lovely little coffee shop. The workers are polite and very knowledgeable. The donuts looked really good and are priced a little over $3 each. I had the espresso and thought it was great. Priced reasonable too ($3.50). One thing to note for now, a face mask is required upon entry.

Delicious, high quality coffee. The donuts were unique and weren't too in your face which I appreciated. I preferred the pastries over the donuts though.

Review has been long overdue, but Metric will always be a stop for me when I visit home in Chicago. Hands down the best representation of specialty coffee that the city has to offer. Knowledgeable baristas on offerings and drinks. The drip is dank and the espresso based beverages never miss the mark. I'll always be a huge advocate for Metric Coffee.

This a quick cool spot for commuters and those working in the area. There is a small patio out front, no indoor seating though. The apple pimento croissant was to die for!!! I was skeptical of the pimento but it somehow worked. Also the hazelnut croissant was really good and filled with chocolate/ Nutella like spread. We both got cortados made with coconut milk. They were alright, a bit bitter but the espresso was tasty.

Metric is easily one of the best coffee shops in the city of Chicago. I just got one of their drip coffees and it was perfect. Not boiling hot, but certainly not cold. It was fruitful and not bitter at all. I also order their beans to make coffee at home and I love that I can get beans within a day or two after ordering and the beans are freshly roasted for the order. Highly suggest going to their shop and ordering from their site.

This is a serious little coffee roastery sandwiched among a bunch of factory warehouse buildings within a gritty industrial pocket of the west loop. The steady flow of walk up customers in an area with very few (any?) other retailers indicates a very loyal customer base which is no surprise given my strong/bold cappuccino. Damn — if this is cappuccino whats the espresso taste like? No inside seating (disappointing) but that’s consistent with the serious roastery vibe; I’ll have to come back when it’s warmer to sit outside among the rumbling trucks and hard-working folks walking in/out of all the nearby warehouses. The city that works baby!

Exquisite coffee. These guys know what they’re doing. A small coffee shop in their production building. Super high quality and professional baristas.

Cute place! Kind of feels like a hole-in-the-wall. They didn’t have a Gibraltar, but offered a cortado which was pretty good! (I got oat milk). We had the passion fruit donut - to die for; and the cold brew was super juicy and flavorful. Fun staff! Fun to see the huge roasterie.

Cute place but of the three high-priced doughnuts I bought on a Sunday morning, none of them were amazing and one was basically inedible (burnt to the point of being crunchy and carbon-tasting). All struck me as day-old rather than fresh. Bummer.

Metric is always a cool little experience. Little is a pretty key operative here. It's a small space, just the bar with no seating. You do get to see a lot of their roasting and packaging process if you crane your neck enough, and the bar area that is exposed to you is very cute. The coffee was great as always, but the barista seemed to be having a rough day and I definitely think the vibes muted them funky notes my coffee was supposed to be using to slap my taste buds silly.

Great quality coffee with precise slow bar. The card give me depth story about the coffee I take. I would revisit in the future for sure.

Amazing little gem, as soon as you open the door you will be hit with the wonderful smell of coffee, nice staff, good selection of coffee and donuts available. I had the nitro coffee which was perfect for a Sunday morning! Will sure come back. I would also recommend this place to locals and out of town visitors. 2 thumbs up!!

This has become my go-to coffee shop. I don't even live anywhere near, but I will drive through terribly congested Chicago traffic to get my latte here. I'll be late for work for this place. I probably visit too often now and I'm sure they're sick of me, but everyone seems super kind here and I really appreciate that. Their food items are also great - that cream puff especially

This coffee shop has a friendly staff and a awesome coffee and espresso selection with something always new to try. The pastries are also good. I highly recommend this coffee shop.

Really amazing coffee! We only bought one of the big bags, but the friends we were with bought 4 different varieties of the smaller bags and I almost wish we had done the same. 😂

Service was great. I asked for sweet foam on top and I think there was a miss communication. The Vanilla nitro cold brew tasted like sweet tea. It was the overall flavor that was lacking for my personal taste.

Set in an idyllic little corner of the neighborhood, this coffee shop is on an quiet street & has a great vibe. Wonderful service and great coffee. There’s a nice outdoor space and plenty of free parking.

This place is the best! Everyone is so knowledgeable about coffee and can pull a great shot - great outdoor patio to sip on your coffee and enjoy the sunshine ☀️

My first intro to Metric was through my trade coffee subscription. Yep it was so good that we made a point to come and check it out in person on our next trip to Chicago! The whole bean coffee selection and quality of this place might be the best in Chicago. The quality of my cortado was solid and overall experience just made us so satisfied. They are doing things well! Give ‘em a try.
