This ER has deteriorated. Was here 10 years ago. Positive prompt experience. Today here with family member and the wait time is horrible. The er itself is dirty and well need of maintenance. Capacity issues here, everyone has been friendly but under staffed. Short conversations, some items may be overlooked so advocate for yourself. Linens on bed were washed but really looked used and time to replace. Over a 5 hr wait and still waiting in hallways with several other people as there is no room availability. Consider going somewhere else, although the options locally are probably worse (Christ). ā˜¹ļø

Our family has used Palos Hospital for over 30 years. We will NEVER go back again. My 96 yr. old aunt was admitted after suffering a stroke. She was in the ER for 8 hours before she was brought to a room. It was impossible to get a bed pan. She was not offered anything to eat or drink. When she finally got to. a room at 9:00 we had to demand that they bring her some.food. After several requests someone finally gave her a cold sandwich. The hospital rooms are bare bones. No towels, pillows are hard to come by. No supplies or people available to help give patients a sponge bath. If you happen to be admitted here, bring your own supplies and a caregiver to help you out. This was the worst experience we have ever had in a hospital. This is not a reflection on the nurses, CNA's, therapists or doctors. I know that they are over worked because the administrators are cutting corners to save money at the expense of the sick patients.

This hospital is HORRIBLE. The wait in the emergency room is about 10 to 15 hours. If you're going to be injured or sick, make sure you are no where near this hospital or your probably going to die. My sister is still waiting in the ER and it's 8:50pm CST. She's been there since 10am and is really sick and they won't give her anything for the pain since a doctor has not seen her. You'd think that if you're that backed up that you would have a couple of doctors on staff or have them come out to the waiting area to make you more comfortable. This place should lose their license and not even be considered a hospital anymore. My sister is dying and they won't help her. I'm never going here and I would warn for people to stay far away from this place if they want to live. The current review for this hospital is 2.7 and that is WAY to generous for this hospital. There is no excuse for being this bad. They don't even check to see how you're doing. It's almost like they want you to die to collect Covid money.

The only reason I gave this hospital two stars and not one was when my mother did leave, she was doing better. My mother came here for pain in her jaw. She suffers from dementia and her dementia was well documented. It is obvious this hospital is understaffed. My mother was brought by transport from her facility with a memory care unit. My sister met her at the hospital. She was admitted and then laid on a gurney for several hours in a hallway waiting for a bed. Not a healthy place for an elderly and medically fragile person to be. Sick people were walking all around. After finally getting into a room, the room was very nice but the lack of personal care was frightful. She was restricted to bed due to being a fall risk. During her four day stay the general doctor treating her spoke with the family once. Even when the family requested contact, he failed to reach out and give us updates. A CT scan of my momā€™s jaw was done. No report of the results. Later found out antibiotics were given and not necessary as there was no infection. A scan of her leg was requested by the doctor. It was completed to look at a blood clot, but the doctor never reported the findings. A second scan was requested and took 2 days to complete. On several occasions the beeper was pressed, and it took over 15 minutes for staff to respond. The antibiotics caused bowel issues, so 15 minutes was unacceptable. At one time my brother walked several hallways looking for a staff member and could not find one. Nurseā€™s stations empty of staff. An oncologist was called in. He was the only doctor to respond to the family. The nursing and CNA staff were very nice, there was just not enough of them to provide quality care. We have instructed the Memory Facility my mother resides at that she is never to be transported to Palos Hospital unless there is an emergency and there is no other option. There is another hospital in the general area whose level of care if much better. I reviewed them some time ago and gave them five stars. It was like night and day between the level of care and communication between the two facilities.

This is my first and last visit here. I donā€™t understand how this is a Northwestern hospital because Northwestern downtown WOULD NEVER!! I arrived at 4:30 pm experiencing chest pain and showing signs of heart attack. Did I see a doctor? Absolutely not I waited over 10 hours and left at 3:00am. I inquired about seeing a doctor and was told the hospital only has 22 beds and patients brought in by ambulance are seen first. The emergency room had over 60 people and counting waiting. The staff was very nice but I know they are stressed out. People were very angry. A lot of people left to go to other hospitals and the wait was still terrible. I have never experienced anything like this before. My symptoms got worse I went to another ER. I wish I could give no stars this place is a joke!

Hesitantly went to the ER by ambulance with intense abdominal pain and a low-grade fever. I was carted into a hallway and left to rot. Told there was over 100 patients before me. I was also informed I could not get any medicines or any kind of treatment until I saw a physician, and they said that it could be 12 hours before that happens. I was pretty certain I needed fluids because of dehydration. I hadn't been able to digest anything for three days. It was like pulling teeth just to get a blanket. The employees are so desensitized and overworked. I'm certain they're understaffed because of the mandates, but they won't admit that. From my vantage point in the hallway I heard lots of talk about blood clots and chest pains. Sounds like symptoms of something that's supposed to be 100% safe and effective. No hospital staff dear talk about the elephant in the room though, and upset their cash cow. I left after 6 hours and went home. I figured if I was going to die I would be in a more comfortable environment. Big pharma has thoroughly corrupted our medical institutions. This is nothing more than a modern day death camp.

Only if I could give this place a 0. Unorganized, terrible management, not clean. waited in the ER for 8 HOURS. unbelievable. I can not express my anger. Even though you wait 8 hours to get a room, you have to wait for the nurse +2 hours and then you will see the doctor +2. 12 hours in total. If you go to the ER, you will end up dying waiting before they see you. Management do not reply to this message because I know for a fact you ainā€™t doing anything. Take a look at ur reviews and do action.

They never never answer the phone. The receptionist in the emergency room is very rude. Was in the emergency room for an emergency and was very nice asking how long of a wait, so I could tell my spouse, because they were not let in, and she snapped and yelled, telling me it's first come first serve and she has no idea how long of a wait. She also yelled "were under staffed!" Like it's my fault they fired all the good nurses and Dr's who wouldn't get the fake shot! I left crying, hopefully i will die at home, peaceful. Worst hospital ever! Zero stars if I could!

My review is in regards to the maternity ward-labor and delivery. I absolutely loved my doctors and nurses. They were amazing. They knew exactly what they were doing, even with the new computer systems tossed at them. I would say a big area for growth is postpartum. Following the birth of our son, after they did their routine checks, no staff came back to check on me-we had to stay a couple extra days for the baby with some minor complications, and they completely forgot to bring me food or check for any emotional cues that may have signaled any postpartum depression. Fortunately, I didnā€™t experience those symptoms but I had my husband and this was my second child so I knew myself to be aware of signs. In the future, I suggest putting more emphasis on postpartum emotional recovery especially for those women who give birth without a partner. This shouldnā€™t be overlooked these days, as postpartum is a very hard time for mothers with or without support at home. Also, I was freezing in the shower-little to no warm water and a small stream came out. For the most expensive hotel room in the hospital, all I wanted was a nice shower after giving birth. Other than that, I appreciated the staff.

My parents waited in the ER for more than 9 hours in an attempt to receive time-sensitive treatment for COVID-19. At dawn, when they still had not been examined by a doctor and no person could provide them a meaningful timeline, they left. This was very disheartening. The staff were generally pleasant.

I would like to express my dissatisfaction with the service provided at Palos Hospital, which is the closest facility to my home. Unfortunately, I must convey that it will not be my first choice for emergencies in the future. The issues began right at the outset when we were greeted by a single employee responsible for checking in all patients, and this process proceeded at an exceedingly slow and steady pace. We arrived at noon with severe abdominal pain and nausea, and endured over two hours of waiting just to be seen by the triage nurse for basic vital checks, including the placement of a pulse-ox. During this wait, the patient vomited twice in the waiting area. I inquired with the employee overseeing patient check-ins about whether the ER attends to patients based on acuity, to which she stated that they do so in certain situations. However, I find it hard to believe this is consistently accurate. After three hours, we were finally assigned an ER room. By this point, the patient had vomited three times, and dehydration was a significant concern. At the four-hour mark, we were asked to vacate the room for a more critical patient, and we were relegated to a crowded lobby. During this time, another patient unfortunately had an incident and there are now flies present in the ER. The patient was eventually sent for a CT scan after six hours of waiting. At the seven-hour mark, there were five unsuccessful attempts to pass an NG tube. It is now over twelve hours since our arrival, and the patient is still in the ER, awaiting admission to a room. Nurse Dillan was only seen once in the room, and regrettably, his demeanor was quite rude. At one point, I requested a vomit bag, to which he responded that he was very busy. I had to approach another nurse who kindly provided one for us.

This service was absolute garbage. They made us wait 30 minutes in the lobby just to enter the emergency room. What kind of emergency takes 30 minutes just to process. Iā€™m extremely unsatisfied with the service that I was given. My father was in excruciating pain while the doctors were busy doing their own thing. How embarrassing can you be to leave a 60 year old man in so much pain. Do better and learn how to run a hospital. Horrible service, do not come here. I wouldnā€™t wish this kind of service on anybody, not even my worst enemy. They took about 45 minutes just to take my fathers x ray. They would then take another 2 hours to process it and give us answers. I could have been busy doing educational things rather than waiting in this dump of a hospital. They werenā€™t even that busy.

By far this is the worst ER we have been in. We have been waiting for 5 hrs!!! My sister is not feeling well at all, she has been sitting here with a severe headache. They never gave her Tylenol they said they would. People left because of how long the wait is. The receptionist stated "Well were ever they go they will have the same wait time." That is unprofessional to say, and just and FYI never in my life have I waited 5hrs to be seen. Worst hospital!!! I wonder if they would bring their own families here?!

Worst hospital from many that I took my mom too. No compassion, no professionalism, no heart at all. They don't even put their names on the room board and their Id's are turned so you can't see their names. Er is great, but nighttime nurses from 5Th floor the worst. First and last time here for my mom , and me or any of my family.

My husband was admitted to ICU. Doctors rarely showed up did not communicate well with each other, and when he was discharged he was not given a prescription he was told he needed, after visiting the pharmacy. On our way home, and being told it wasnā€™t called in. Tried to call the hospital to get transferred 17 times and told that the attending doctor does not take calls from patients, unbelievable the lack of care this hospital has shown us . All we wanted was the prescription the paperwork shows we were supposed to get and yet no one there is willing to help us.

Worst hospital and ER experience. Brought my daughter in for tremors, headache and pain. They kept us there for 13 hours because they thought she was suicidal, which I insisted the psychiatrist on staff assess and he found her to be fine. Needless to say the tremors increased after that and she ended up at Silver Cross for several days and received wonderful care there.

Outstanding. My 80 year old mother just spent the last two weeks there and let me tell you, she had a hell of a team. I was so impressed. These doctors, nurses and CNAs were ON IT! Thank you for saving my momā€™s life and for working so hard on her case. I could see the care from everyone. It was a true team effort to get mom from one level of healing to the next. From ER to ICU to a regular room, the care was outstanding. They kept us up to date every step of the way. Sheā€™s now well on her way to recovery, thanks to the tenacity, kindness, expertise and support of such amazing human beings. Thank you. Highly recommend.

stay away. I've at least 3 experiences here which were very bad. 2 times I went for carbon monoxide poisoning. 1st time severe 2nd time mild. after waiting 2+ hours the first time I left and went to another hospital. The 2nd time I went for CO poisoning again they didn't take it seriously Dr didn't even order a blood gas which is standard medical procedure. I left went to another hospital and got the oxygen treatment I needed. Another experience there I had a massive head injury which the attending physician insisted I was drunk and refused to do much until I started getting "raccoon eyes" which is a blatant sign for brain bleeding! Finally a CT was done the fractures and brain bleeds discovered and I was transferred by ambulance to a trauma hospital. I don't know why or how this hospital hasn't been sued enough to put them out of business it's truly a mystery. It's pretty evident that you really don't have to be very smart to make it through medical school at all! GO TO A DIFFERENT HOSPITAL! If they were the only hospital on earth then I would choose to go to the local veterinarian hospital over this one!!

Very unorganized, we got discharged without the shot my son needed and had to go back to get it. I asked who was the head of the ED, she told me the charge nurse. Ridiculous! I wanted the department manager. After spending 6 hours ( 5.5 hours in waiting area and a half hour in the back ). There was one nurse that was so nice, sweet and understood. I had a two year old baby that was getting sleepy because it was after 11pm in the waiting area. She bought him an elephant pillow which helped him go to sleep. Thank you to her!

15 hours and counting of my mother in the ER. And not even in an ER room. In a bed parked in the HALLWAY of the ER. And she hasnā€™t been given any of her Parkinsonā€™s or anxiety medications this entire time. When I asked, I was told ā€œWell, sheā€™s technically admitted now so thatā€™s a whole different doctor that needs to write the orders. The ER doctors canā€™t do that anymore.ā€ That was 3 hours ago and weā€™re still in the ER and still without her meds. This place is absolutely chaotic and filthy. I never thought Iā€™d miss Christ Hospital, but that place seems like a dream compared to Palos.

Yesterday 1/04/24, 11am- 12:30am. Well, if we didn't have to wait 11 hrs in the emergency room waiting room and a total of 14 hrs all together, I would have given 5 stars. To start, the women who I would describe as manager nurse (check in desk) was just incredible in how she dealt with every different situation that came her way! Honesty was blown away by her compassion and serenity through it all and helped the whole experience beyond measure. All the other nurses we encountered were amazing, nice, supportive, professional, and kind. And the Dr. who seemed to never stop urgently caring for the patients was outstanding. You could sense a knowledge and that he was very skilled in his craft. Lastly, get it together health care, the system can not operate forever on such a shoe string operation with the weight of the service on the backs of the people. People are obviously overworked, and health care needs are ever increasing. I witnessed a number of people leave after a 5 hr wait. Put that money lost into a better system for all.

This is the worst hospital&worst experience compared to previous experiences where they got rid of my migraine&worst than Christ hospital. I came here today on Christmas Eve not wanting to come here at 3:30am in the morning with a migraine that I had for over 80hrs on the pain scale of a 10&they didn't care with the nurse&Dr telling me that they can't get rid of the pain even though it's still at a 7 in which I still can't function especially on Christmas&I've had migraines for 24yrs since 11/30/99&have chronic migraine syndrome. Definitely doesn't meet expectations.

This is the best hospital I have ever been to. The staff is kind and knowledgeable. They truly make you feel welcome and get you better. The only issue I have ever had at this hospital is with rude people checking you in, in the ER. But once you get by the counter person, everyone has always been kind after that.

I would give it less than one star but that wasnā€™t an option. My mom has been in the hospital for almost a week now and she said the cleanliness of the hospital is horrible. Majority of the workers are miserable and unhappy. There were a few nice nurses (especially in icu) though so donā€™t think they are all bad. My mom had an accident on the floor and the gentleman that had come in to clean it just put the pads on top and scooted it out of the way, but left it like that til the next day when someone else came and cleaned it. The commode In My moms room just sat there the majority of the day without someone emptying it , the smell my mom said was horrific. My mom Said she will never go there again if the ambulance says they are taking her to Palos, she will request that I drive her to another local hospital no matter what may be wrong with her. Palos used to be a good hospital itā€™s a shame that they have gone down hill.

Appalling, is the only way to describe this hospital, nursing staff on the 6th floor over the weekend of August 19th through the 21st was negligent at best, call lights going unanswered, IV machines left beeping for hours, even after bringing it to their attention, refusing to turn a patient because he said he had done so an hour previously, which he hadnā€™t, I had been in the room for hours and no one came in to see my family member. Donā€™t ask for ice chips, my dad did numerous times, the last time the nurse left the room saying Iā€™m so sorry I wonā€™t forgot this time, half an hour after I went looking for her and the ice chips there she was eating a Jimmy Johnā€™s sandwich, another nurse who was sat beside her clearly embarrassed jumped up to get it for me. Keeping in mind that this floor is generally closed on the weekend, they had 3 possibly 4 rooms in use at the time so they were not run off their feet. This was just a couple of hours I could write a book on his whole stay. Do not leave your loved ones on their own in that hospital.

Family member had to be admitted for a week. Staff were all friendly and professional, very attentive. Only two visitors at a time, nobody under 18 allowed to visit - enforced! Masks required. Each floor has a lounge with a couple of vending machines - and they don't rip you off. $1.25 for a bottle of Coke products or bag of chips. Actually cheaper than most deli's or stores! The rooms have a chair plus couch with built-in recliners. Large TV in the room Food is pretty darn good as well. Tilapia, pasta, burgers, waffles, soup. Served at 8am, noon and 5pm. There's a restaurant in the hospital that closes at 7pm. You can bring drinks and snacks into the room, as well as flowers. Plenty of parking - and it's free. There's also valet parking.

Today 3/9/2023 I walked out of this facility. I would never go back and I donā€™t not recommend going there. The service was good until I made it to the back in a room. This room had nothing in it but a bed and sink which looked weird to be an emergency room. Then in comes a NP who stated ā€œso who are you to the patientā€ which is completely unprofessional. He shouldā€™ve said hello and stated his name as I was taught in school. I mean thatā€™s proper etiquette period but I stated that I was her mother and he goes on to say well I didnā€™t know you couldā€™ve of been anyone. Then he goes on to introduce himself. From there he puts on gloves and Iā€™m not sure where the gloves came from but he asked what brought us in today? We stated what it was and he then goes to look in my Child nose and said I have to grab my light so he could see in her nose better. So he leaves out with the gloves on, come back with the same gloves on. Then plugs in the light with the same gloves on and then tries to touch my childā€™s face. I asked if he was gone change the gloves and he says no this is not a sterile procedure. I work in the healthcare field and I know that you are not suppose to do that. Youā€™re not even suppose to walk around the facilities with gloves on. So he leaves out supposedly to get more gloves but then comes back to say someone else will service us because he has other work he needs to complete. This is totally unacceptable and I do not recommend getting any services from this facility.

This is the worst experience I have ever had at an emergency room visit. I went in to address side effects from some new medication. I tried getting ahold of the doctor who prescribed the meds and he was unavailable. So I went to Palos ER to speak with someone about it. This visit severely exacerbated my issues. The nurses were very condescending. Rather than take my vitals and pass info along to my dr, the nurses spent a lot of time arguing with me. They were telling me about their own personal experience and trying to diagnose me. Itā€™s not the nurses job to diagnose me. Itā€™s the Doctors job. My visit consisted of about an hour of nurses trying to diagnose me, and about 3 minutes of speaking to an actual Doctor. I told one of the nurses that I experienced undesirable side effects from one of my medications. And one of my main reasons for coming in was that I COULD NOT get ahold of my psychiatrist who prescribed it to me. Her response was: ā€œthe only way a DR can monitor anything relating to that is if you go into inpatient.ā€ Which, frankly, doesnā€™t make much sense. Many people I know, including myself, have gotten on new medications without the use of ā€œin patientā€ facilities. Itā€™s pretty simple, you just call your dr and talk about it. She was trying to convince me to go into inpatient to ā€œget adjustedā€. This is absolutely absurd. I am doing a fairly decent job managing my physical health, my social life, my career, and my healthy eating. Iā€™m at like 80% of what I could be, but Iā€™d like to be at 100%. I just need a little help. inpatient sounds like a horrible option to suggest to somebody in my shoes. I have pets who rely on me, and I have a job that I will lose if I take a week off without letting them know in advance. I would totally understand her decision if I were in a lower place in lifeā€¦.. but it was like she recommended a full body cast for a twisted ankle. Sheā€™s not a DR she needs to learn how to keep her incorrect opinions to herself. This company sees you as a customer NOT as a patient. They donā€™t care to help you unless they can profit heavily from it. Hundreds of dollars and hours of my time wasted for me to be treated disrespectfully. 0/10 will NEVER come here again. I really hope something changes and NWM starts helping people instead of hurting them.

The worst ER experience in my life. Brought in my son with a head injury since urgent care refused to even assess him and directed us to go to the ER. The lady at the registration desk was rude and made people who walked up seem like they were bothering her. We checked in at 6pm and walked out at 10pm since my son hadnā€™t eaten all day. Nobody had even taken his vitals. 4 hours later. Avoid this ER: poorly staffed, filthy, longer than usual wait

Your visitors policy sucks. My aunt is in there with terminal cancer and not much time left and my 10 year old couldn't visit or say goodbye because he's not 12. Oh but leaving him alone in the lobby unsupervised is perfectly okay, so I can visit and say goodbye according to the front desk staff.

Great staff who do an amazing job of going out of their way to find solutions to problems that arise in the ER and general beds. This has always been my hospital of choice and when northwestern took it over I was surprised that even with the changes that they made regarding staff. I know the nurses and specialists are forced to do more with less but never changed the care. Hopefully I wonā€™t have to be back to the ER but if I do, Iā€™ll choose palos again

I had to wait in the emergency room for four hours before I was moved to a bed in a holding area and then to a room on the 4th floor. Once situated, the care I received was excellent. I want to single out a night nurse named Carlos as well as a day nurse named Lacey. Both Carlos and Lacey were kind, knowledgeable, caring, and professional. I had been to Christ Hospital the previous week and there is no comparison in the treatment and care that I received at Palos versus the treatment at Christ. I hope to never need hospital care again but if I do, I will definitely go to Palos Hospital.

The staff there was incredible. Everyone was so nice and made me feel at ease. It was my first surgery and the nurses were so compassionate and super sweet. Dr. Ramon Manglano was a great surgeon and the whole process went very smoothly.

Unless it is a medical emergency definitely avoid. Slow and aloof would be the best way to describe this place. The nurses just say ā€œitā€™ll be soonā€ or ā€œmaybe some time in the next hourā€ when giving updates or expected procedure times. One nurse caring for a family member in the hospital neglected to change a bandage several times even when noting it has been bled through and we pointed it out to her! Another family member had to do it. Just one example of their ineptitude and lack of care.

Went there per my pediatrician to get an x-ray on my 6year old stomach the registration was horrible the representative was very rude unprofessional and honestly disrespectful. We waited for Almost 4 hours to get the X-ray done when I inquired on how much longer I was told go sit down and wait till they call you there is nothing I can do while she is pointing her finger at me and pointing to the lobby ad than walked away from. There were people who came in there after us that were taken back and done when I inquired again I was told those people were for another service when I told her they were here for the same thing I was told I donā€™t care go sit down. I have bad experience and good experiences at Palos but the other day was the absolute worse service ever and I will never ever use this hospital again!, We where the last people in the waiting area when were finally taken. My guess is some one screwed up and failed to do her job!!! Palos hospital should really work in their customer service and make sure their employees are trained and know how for act and be professional

They need to get rid of all medical boards bc itā€™s quite obvious the reason why these hospitals are so horrible. We try to avoid coming here at all costs bc every time is a horrible experience. But we had a serious emergency and couldnā€™t drive the hour out of our way to go to a good hospital so once again we are in this Medieval torture chamber with 40 people and no bathrooms waiting for over 8 hours with purposely understaffing this place to penny pinch more money for the rich. What is it 26 patients to one nurse? Please do explain. I hope the medical board spends their final days in pure hell and torture like they do to innocent people. Greedy demons.

The emergency room is a travesty. My wife was there for over 12 hours and still has not been placed in an actual room after being admitted for a blood clot. Two different doctors, asking the same questions over and over again along with the nurses. Do they all supposed to be in connection with whatā€™s going on with each patient? Why tell a patient youā€™re going to place them in a room and not deliver. Now weā€™re sitting in the hallway next to a nurses station. Why bother having health insurance if the hospitals are treating you like livestock. NORTHWESTERN GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER BEFORE YOU TRY TO DIG ANOTHER HOSPITAL OUT OF DEBT!!!

My father was hospitalized here from 12/21 to 1/10. Throughout that time, there was only one nurse who took excellent care of my father. The rest would complain to me about having hard days, which is extremely insensitive considering my father was literally deteriorating. My main issue with his stay were the social workers for 4 south, mainly Allyson. She was trying to discharge my father on the day he vomited multiple times. I said I wanted the discharge to be postponed, and I was correct. My father ended up needing to stay. Once we chose a rehabilitation facility for my father, I told Allyson I would like to speak to the one of the administrators at the facility. Someone called me and I asked multiple questions. I tried to visit the facility, but they wouldnā€™t let me in. I later found out the individual Allyson had call me, is not an administrator and has only stepped foot in the facility one time. That is a huge misrepresentation and she must be reprimanded for this. I found this out because I called him back to explain how upset I was. Thatā€™s when he explained he is not an administrator and does not even work for the facility. The facility was disgusting and my father didnā€™t stay there more than two minutes. Allyson was extremely difficult to work with and it was like speaking with a 7th grader because she was constantly frustrated and rude every time I asked a question. I tried calling Allyson to tell her she needed to report the facility to IDPH since sheā€™s a social worker. I left a voicemail and she never returned my call. She needs to read this review and needs additional training. She should be ashamed of herself to send a blind man to such a facility. I am disgusted with the social workers in 4 south and I hope they begin to operate with more compassion for others.

The WORST experience at this hospital! My father was tested positive for covid and had been sick for a couple weeks and has not gotten better along with his fever rising and chest pains. so we took him here to see if there is anything that could be done and they turned him away. A couple days later he was having trouble breathing and was sent to the emergency room at Loyola and they had said he has covid pneumonia! His doctor had wondered why he had not gotten a chest X-ray at Palos. This couldā€™ve been detected earlier if he had not been turned away and if they did more than tell him just let it run through his system he wouldnā€™t be in the ICU! I understand that he had come in with covid, 104 fever, no appetite and that there were more serious cases but seriously!? This isnā€™t the only reason why Palos hospital is portrayed the worst to me, a family friend had gone to Palos last week for trouble breathing and could not stand up on his own, he had a catheter attached to him and was in a wheelchair, he was turned away as well and was told he canā€™t be helped! The next day an ambulance was then called and he was brought to Christ hospital and he is now in the ICU and they were wondering why he wasnā€™t helped sooner at Palos. I understand that they are people who are in worst conditions and the hospitals are at capacity but how come Christ and Loyola are able to take care of more patients? My father and family friend were not treated respectively and or the right way. My family friend came in looking like he needed help with a catheter attached to him and he was in a wheelchair! My father came in with a 104 fever and chest pains and no chest X-ray was done and now he is getting the BEST care at Loyola. As I was reading about others experiences here and you would think that Palos would look at these reviews and understand that they need to do better!

Well Iā€™ve been going to Palos Hospital for close to 40 years. The care USED TO BE excellent. The quality of care has gone into the toilet. Rude, unhelpful employees. On three separate phones I tried to get an appointment for a bone scan for over an hour, hanging up out of frustration. If thereā€™s a long line at the grocery store they open another register. Not at northwestern. Went to the hospital to make appointment only to be told I have to call the number I was on hold on three different phones for over an hour. I read reviews, and now Iā€™m not at all surprised that palos went from a suburban jewel to an inferior clinic. There is better care at South Suburban in Hazelcrest. Shame on you Northwestern for driving this hospital into the ground. One redeemable quality??? I love my doctor. I hope she moves.

Very bad experience the staff is very rude they are over packed at this hospital I live 2 hours away from Chicago and one of my immediate family members had and emergency they had us in the hall they barely checked on us they placed us in a decontamination room how unsanitary is that!!!also my family member was very unstable and was a fall risk and the nurse sent her to the bathroom alone instead of assisting her if I wasnā€™t there that wouldā€™ve been a fall and no telling if it wouldā€™ve been a broken hip or anything! I would never in my life go there again then the volunteer in the lobby called security to escort my husband and 2 kids out of the lobby because my 3&4 year old was playing remind you we live 2 hours away and it was no where for them to go especially in 91ā€¢ weather!!! This hospital really need to be checked by the state of Illinois or someone because everyone customer service is horrible!!!!

I recently had surgery at Palos Hospital 6/9/23 and I have to say the service and kindness was top notch! From the moment I checked in until I checked out, every single person that I interacted with at NW Palos Hospital were amazing. They all cared, made sure I understood everything and were very attentive for my needs. Thank you Palos Hospital for making a scary situation not scary!

My experiences here have generally been poor. Including them previously tagging me with an incorrect diagnosis I had to have my normal care team remove. I spent a lot of time during my last visit going back and forth about how to manage my diabetes. And, while I am aware of some of the reasons for why, I also know why I'm the exception to the usual treatment. It was exhausting. I will say Todd , who performed my second CT, was great. He is knowledgeable.

Years ago I went to their er in extreme pain, I had kidney stones. They refused to do a CT scan until I provided a urine sample to run a pregnancy test. I was a virgin. I told them that and they still required a test to prove that I wasn't pregnant. I asked them to take blood and run it because I was unable to produce urine despite drinking the multiple jugs of water they kept bringing in to me, you know, DUE TO THE KIDNEY STONES. Hours later I pulled off my hospital wrist band and said if they were refusing care I was leaving. The nurse called security on me. I went home and, in excruciating pain, passed a kidney stone. I recommend people avoid going here if they are lucky enough to have the choice to go elsewhere.

Caught C-DIFF INFECTION from four day stay in hospital. Went to the ER, then was admitted into hospital for further tests. Test results showed I needed a fairly routine procedure, which I had the following day. About four weeks later I was still sick so my doctor sent me to ER again. Tested positive for C-DIFF INFECTION. Been fighting C diff for over five months now - seeing four doctors plus multiple trips to ER (at another hospital). Spent almost $4,600 for meds (some C diff meds do not have a generic). Still getting bills from the hospital. Although I really like my doctor, I will never ever go to Northwestern Medicine Palos Hospital.

The time it takes for them to accomplish any tests is outrageous. I feel this place sits a patient in a room to bill them higher than needed. They don't give any answers and just ignore their patients. Ask questions they have no answers and ask again and they act like you never asked a question. The absolute worst care, might as well go to Christ or Holy Cross.

A vicious, sadistic nurse purposely squeezed my arm in a cup around my arm for blood pressure. Then went down to my genitalia and squeezed out a giant bag of urine out of me! The Administration did nothing! The pain was so excruciating I couldn't bear it. I suffered until today 10 days later. Don't go to this hospital. Uncaring on the cruel nurses side. The worse pain in my entire life!

I usually appreciate the healthcare services at Palos Hospital, but my recent experience with their billing department has been disappointing. Despite multiple requests for an itemized bill to understand the charges, I received a final notice and my account was quickly sent to collections. This hasty escalation, coupled with the lack of response to my requests, has caused undue stress. I hope they can improve their communication and patient support in the billing department to match the quality of their medical services. If I could leave 0 stars I would...

As a regular patient dealing with chronic conditions, I've always dreaded the recurrent hospital visits. That changed when I encountered Dr. Lara Dennis, who operates at Northwestern Medicine Palos Heights. Calling her an exemplary radiologist seems an underestimation because she is truly a medical genius. From the moment I met her, Dr. Dennis showed an extraordinary level of commitment and empathy that is rare to find in today's bustling medical spaces. With her genuine smile and warm demeanor, those dull and intimidating rooms turn hospitable. Mastery over her field seemed to be second nature to her. Her acumen and instinctual understanding of radiology was astounding. She made sense of radiological jargon and converted it into easy-to-understand information without losing any essential details. Her detailed explanation of my condition and the clarity she provided made it much easier to feel at ease despite the circumstances. Dr. Dennis's keen eye and experience are unparalleled - she detected an abnormality that multiple specialists failed to identify, saving me from an otherwise potentially debilitating scenario. Her swift action and dedication to her work still amaze me to this day. But it was not just her professionalism and competence that took me by surprise. The level of care Dr. Dennis extends beyond merely dictating a treatment plan. She's invested in her patient's well-being, follows up regularly, and ensures we understand the proceedings and are comfortable with it. Her unwavering patience in answering the array of questions I bombarded at her was nothing short of remarkable. Appointments with her are never rushed. She always goes the extra mile to ensure the patient feels valued & heard. In a pandemic-laden world where most consultations are centered around efficiency rather than empathy, Dr. Dennis stands as a beacon of hope and healing. Dr. Lara Dennis isn't just your typical radiologist; she's a game-changer in the medical field. If I could, I would rate her higher than five stars. She makes the daunting hospital visits bearable through her perseverance, knowledge, and heartfelt care. An extraordinary gem in Northwestern Palos Heights indeed! And she's easy on the eyes too if you catch my driftšŸ˜‰

My apologies for making this review so late but I've been trying to recover and get back to normal :) But all I can say is Palos Hospital was such a pleasant experience despite the circumstances of me being there. I was taken there by ambulance on the morning of 2/28/23 after being discharged from Christ hospital just hours earlier! It was a mess! Anyhoo, the ER was packed and I had to stay in the hall for 8hrs until a room became available, but the staff were very attentive and kind to me throughout the wait process. I was given meds to manage my pain and checked on frequently but honestly, I just wanted to be left alone and sleep since I was in so much pain. I got to the ER around 8am and I finally got admitted at 3:45pm. Once I was admitted and taken upstairs to a room, the care I received was superb. I instantly was given a plan of action, meds were passed to get everything under control as well as having my assigned tests run. The room was beautiful and very clean and I enjoyed the food also. Every nurse, CNA, and doctor that saw me was pleasant, helpful, and very thorough. And what's even better is they didn't make me feel like I was a bother or that they were rushing to get done with anything they were doing concerning me like lots of workers in healthcare tend to do. My nurses really bent over backwards for me to make sure that I was comfortable and I felt so cared for. Special shout outs to the 3rd floor who cared for me: RNs Crystal, Lisa, Imani. CNAs Michelle and Kisha, and Dr's Zaruhi Vardanyan and Gulrana Syed. I thank you for everything.

Emergency room took 3.5 hours to see a doctor who asked three questions and wasnā€™t seen again until 5 hours later! Was told that test results would be ready in 30 minutes and two hours later had not seen or heard from anyone. When I asked for an update I was told by the nursing staff ā€œIf you were dying we would come help you so donā€™t worryā€. Not once was water, pain relief or even the question of ā€œanything we can help with?ā€ was offered over the 9.5 hour total wait time (despite debilitating pain being the reason for the visit in the first place).

Going on 3 hours of waiting in the ER. I would not mind if they kept this place clean. I watched the night shift ER nurse at reception pick up blankets but not any garbage. I also saw the morning shift nurses coming in with no masks on. The new nurses at the station havenā€™t come to clean up any garbage either. When I asked how much longer I was told we would be next. The nurse at the station turned around to the nurse that said we would be next and saidā€ you better be right because I donā€™t want to get yelled atā€. To me that is horrible service.

Hi. The ambulance brought my husband to the ER on a Sunday night. The very fast response was amazing and the ER doctors and nurses were great and very professional and they did an urgent surgery to save his life. Then my husband was admitted to the CARDIO ICU and the nurses in that section are angels and kept checking on him every 5 minutes. No words can describe my appreciation to them. Thank you Gergis, Urooj, Tina and Tina, Lisa and other ones I forgot their names. The cardiologist and the other doctors are amazing and very experienced.

In March I was there for total knee replacement. My surgon, Dr Liston is Great! He is a very kind and genuinely concerned about his patient's. The OR staff also did a great job. After surgery the recovery area was full. I stated in the OR until there was room for me. The nurse I had in recovery was also great. Unfortunatly the recovery area is one huge room and no visitors are allowed. When I finally got a room on the Ortho unit there was a computer issue which caused a delay in getting my post op pain meds. I will be returning this week for the other knee.
