Favorite (and closest 😊) beach in Chicago. Clean. Small sand beach with Oak beach bar. Place for volleyball. A place to jump into the water. Spectacular view of the city!

Beautiful beach to chill at and get a nice tan. Also it’s cool to see the Chicago skyline thru a different perspective.

Entrance path that goes through an underpass: surprised how clean it was and the lack of homeless loitering. Beach was very clean and path was easily visible. Labeled appropriately for walkers and cyclist paths. Plenty of trash and recycling bins. Water fountains are frequent while you pass through sections

Nice sandy beach, not crowded and convenient walking distance from our hotel. It was very clean. There are beach loungers to rent if you wish to spend time down there, or you can throw a towel down on the sand and relax for free. Great views of the city too!

Really enjoyed our evening swim here looking at the buildings, boats & sunset. The beach is kind of rocky close to the shoreline. The water is a bit dirtier or murkier than foster ave beach but I like that it’s close to the magnificent mile & a short walk from our hotel. Not every crowded either. There are public restrooms nearby which we didn’t use. Had a lovely time & will return.

Oak street is that perfect sliver of beach between North Ave beach & Ohio Street Beach. Right in the middle of it all near the Gold Coast but does not get shady as quickly as Ohio beach. We went on the 4th of July and although it was on a Tuesday it was still packed. This is to be expected on any given holiday or weekend when it is beautiful in Chicago though. The views are of the lake, the boats in the playpen and the Chicago skyline up close, so it is stunning to say the least. Also this beach has a pop up massage booth and the beach bar Whispers as well as a hotdog stand. Everything you might need for a good beach day. Heads up, on busy days, they do have checkpoints to not bring alcohol to the beach. Glass is NEVER allowed in a beach and please don’t litter! Let’s keep our beaches clean, they have trash & recycling bins EVERYWHERE, so it shouldn’t be hard.

A beautiful haven on the edge of the city. Well-marked bike paths and walking trails. On a weekday it wasn't crowded. A boardwalk restaurant looked perfectly placed to rest though we didn't stop by.

This has been my first time visiting Chiacago, I came from Minneapolis to go to Lollapalooza. To kill time, my friend and I stopped at this beach. This beach is BEAUTIFUL. it was clean, not over crowded, the water is super blue, it's in a great area. I can't wait to come back here again. I wish I could've stayed out there longer honestly!

The beach view, juxtaposed against the cityscape, creates a harmonious blend of natural serenity and urban vibrancy. The rhythmic waves and golden sands provide a tranquil escape, while the distant city skyline adds a touch of dynamic energy. It's a picturesque convergence where the beauty of nature meets the hustle and bustle of city life, offering a refreshing and captivating panorama.

I come here and pick up trash every Monday, it's not very crowded, everyone's at work, and there's a few pretty good restaurants within walking distance. If I see someone else picking up trash I will fall in love with them instantly. Cough cough (πŸ‘€)

Nothing like a nice sandy beach in the middle of a big city! Good way to spend the day before heading out on the town and there is a restaurant and bar right on the beach as well.

The best thing about Oak Street Beach is it’s nearby street parking on E Lakeshore Drive, which gets busy oftentimes but like North Ave Beach the street parkings aren’t far away! Good for all human and animals!

Close to the city center with a beach bar/restaurant. Next to a park. I would definitely recommend it for a walk and coffee/lunch break.

Great place with amenities along the board walk, and plenty of beach volleyball courts, only downside here is parking, it's non-existent you have to find a garage or street parking a few blocks away and walk your way across... pretty inconvenient as parking and driving anywhere downtown Chicago is a nightmare.

Wonderful beach that you can enjoy either swimming or relaxing. You can also play volleyball. Sometimes, I join groups who I don't know. People are nice there.

Nice little beach if you are walking the Michigan mile you can slide over for a great view. Grab a beverage or have a seat at whispers, dip your toes in the water but either way a nice little area to visit.

Great views of the skyline and beautiful beach. Lots of volleyball nets and little beach shops. It was a tad littered near the water but not too crazy.

😐 You can park for as little as $2 for 1 hour. While I came here to see The Secret Mermaid, I was disturbed by the amount of trash, plastic, and glass on the beach. There are trash cans and recycling containers every 50 feet but trash everywhere. I started to pick up trash to keep it from going into...
