Used to be one of best Pepe’s around. Lost a lot of good employees went for dinner last night salsa was not fresh as it used to be ordered 2 steak dinners med rare, steak came med well Total difference in the food will not be back! Pretty pricey for a bad meal very disappointing.

I was never a Pepe’s fan until Moving by this location. Came in for the half priced margaritas and I am now there once a week. Food is real authentic Mexican food, happy hour specials are a bonus. Prices are fair for the awful economy. The reviewers complaining about slow service clearly don’t get out much, staffing is an issue in EVERY industry since 2020. Maybe relax and enjoy your marg while you wait. The staff they do have work their butts off and are so polite and helpful- take a sec and tell them they’re doing a good job. If mistakes happen they are quick to rectify.

After 40 YEARS of coming to this location, I can honestly say I WISH GOOGLE HAD NEGATIVE STARS! The owners have ruined a good business! Quesadillas with NO CHEESE IN THEM, beans that were more like soup instead of the long standing paste, sour cream that was just on the verge of milk again, cracked and warped dishes that you have to hold in place to keep them from rocking, I could go on and on! Should have just walked out when they brought the chips to the table at the start, and they were just little pieces and the salsa was like tomato paste! Then let's talk about the restaurant itself....the temperature was so warm our ice in the water glasses melted and the glasses were leaving puddles of sweat on the table from the warmth! YOUR STAFF , ALL OF THEM, NEED TO BE RE-TRAINED OR FIRED! Especially when we told Angel the appetizer was terrible and all he said was, " Should I punch the cook or just flip him off?". Even the soda was flat! Our bill was almost $5 more than the prices on the menu, and we were charged a credit card surcharge before we even paid the bill, WITH CASH! Now, you all can call us ignorant for not even leaving a penny for a tip! WE WON'T EVER BE BACK!

Wow, we ordered an appetizer and dinner. Within minutes our appetizer came out. Then about 4 minutes later our waiter and two other people brought out our dinner. We had plates of food covering the entire table and the two of us were sitting in a booth that seats 4 people. If you go here, order your dinner AFTER you finish your appetizer. Even the people sitting at a table near us joked with us about how they gave us no time to enjoy our appetizer before bringing out all the dinner plates of food.

We got to restaurant not busy very accommodating, but the specials for the beer were good, now the food the steak tacos very very greasy, and it is Soo so sad that you have to charge for everything from cilantro ( which I can buy at the store 3 for 1.00) to onions, beans, rice plus there surcharge on top of that and convince charges OMG not a good place at all never going back

I went with friends who wanted Mexican. That food doesn't sit well. We called and they said we have 'American cuisine options'. Those options: a freaking burger, French fries, onion rings, or chicken nuggets from the kids menu. You could tell that the hamburger went from the freezer to the microwave (rubber). The French fries were those bagged string fries you get from a grocery store. I found it quite nasty or in their native tongue it was: ASQUEROSO 🤢 🤮

I live within a 3 min drive from my local Pepe's. I've always loved their tacos. I usually prefer chicken tacos, (there's are great) but their beef tacos are very good. It's the seasoning in the beef that does it for me. The tacos are NOT skimpy, they've got some weight to them. Full of yummy goodness. Good food,& low pri ces is a recipe for success.

Me and my parents had a very nice dinner together. The building itself wasnt packed, and we seen the servers very often. They were very generous with the chips, which was nice! I got the enchiladas like I always do and it was great. I always like the experience when we come eat here

I ordered fajitas a while back and didn't get the tortillas with it. I called them and they made a note to comp me on my next order. I was going to order fajitas today but I called first to make sure they would add my comp to the order; a dessert, etc. I was told they could only give me more tortillas. Why in the world do I need more tortillas when I was ordering fajitas again that comes with tortillas. I will NEVER order from there again. What a shame too, because the food is good.

Very underwhelming!!!! Food was not as good as google reviews led me to believe. Service was ok. Food was done about 6 min after having order taken. Chicken torta was soggy by the time it made it to the table. Wasn’t hot…👀. Son’s kids meal quesadilla was the only thing cooked fresh. Safe to say I will not be returning. Also, I’m used to Mexican restaurants automatically serving dishes with cilantro and onion, wasn’t aware that it had to be requested, food came with cheese, lettuce and tomato. Only had green sauce, and pico de gallo, neither one was spicy. Hope this helps.

This location has been here since 1967 that says a lot there. We had a very nice dinner and my wife had a small fish bowl margarita it was huge. Service was great food tasting very good. I would recommend this location to anyone. I plan to return again. Thank you

Place was recommended to me in my search for a good margaritas while I was in the area. Self seat at the bar. Bar was not clean at all, glasses and dishes everywhere that seemed to be sitting there for awhile. Restaurant was not busy at all and the service was extremely lacking in all areas. Very hot temperature in the building as if the HVAC was not on. Floor was sticky. Menus came out and has some time of chewed/raw food in between the pages. Took 1 sip of a margarita and paid and left. Would not recommend.

Staff was very polite, clean ,wuv how the place looked and food was good.

Found while getting off the Interstate for lunch. Very good lunch buffet, prices seem good, overall menu looked good. Decor is a plus. Service was friendly. A definite lucky find for us, wish we lived 600 miles closer.

The best Pepe's in Illinois. I have invited so many people to this restaurant they have re-invited people here and it's still continues to serve us like it is our first visit they are like family great business great food great service great drinks no complaints outside patio is adorable they really cater to their customers. The buffet is great although could use a little change up but other than that the chicken soup is like homemade just like your mother's. The atmosphere is wonderful never too rowdy at all slot machines do hit. Not much more I can say but try it out for yourselves all the waitresses and bussers are phenomenal..

Were in today for the buffet. It has been better in the past. Think they are not as busy as in the past so food sits out a little longer. They also got rid of the taco salad bowls and dessert chips. The new flavored lemonade were great. Will be back but might just stick to regular menu.

Their entrées are big but overpriced. I ordered enchiladas in red sauce and the steak was chewy, and in general the food tasted ok.
