This was such a fun day!! My husband and I wanted to get a trip in a couple of months before or daughter was due. This was such a great choice! The museum was busy but all of the exhibits are very accessible. Nice!

Worth going, I saw everything I wanted in a couple hours. I wish there was more, especially for the price. The building itself is beautiful

My wife and I had a fantastic time at the Field Museum. We were visiting Chicago and I insisted that we go here. First, it is a massive place with a lot of exhibits to take in. I recommend getting there when they open so you can take in as much as possible over the course of the day. We arrived an hour after they opened and still did not get to see everything by the time the museum closed. Seeing Sue the T-Rex was incredible. I did not imagine I would get the opportunity to visit and see Sue. She alone is worth the price of admission. The main attraction I wanted to see were the fabled Lions of Tsabo. I had heard the story about these lions from a young age and really wanted to see them. I was utterly amazed at how well they have been preserved and attended. When we visited (it has been a few years now), there was an Ancient Egypt exhibit that was such a treat. You can easily spend hours in this exhibit alone with all the things to see and facts to read up on. This was one of the last exhibits we went to and it ultimately ended up being the last one we would see. We easily spent 2+ hours. The Field Museum is a must visit for anyone. We are looking forward to when we can take our son to visit Sue.

A great place to take kids to see all the stuff. I would recommend at least taking in one show to learn a bit more about the sky/galaxy. Finally, minus the show my daughter and I took in, we got through the museum in about 90 minutes.

Great aquarium! I got us tickets to the penguin encounter. We got to spend 45 min with a penguin. It was very informative and fun. For both of us it was almost $200.00, it also includes a general admission to the aquarium. The shows and the exhibits are great. There are a lot of kid areas. They also have a couple of food options and vending machines. The staff is super friendly and helpful. We have been here a couple of times, and it's always a great experience. I would Uber or Lyft there. So you don't have to deal with parking.

We went to the Field Museum, Aquarium, and Planetarium. We loved them all! I would definitely recommend all of them. The Field Museum does take all day even without the extra exhibits. So, plan accordingly. We did the Planetarium and Aquarium in the same day and it worked out well.

Best shot of the city can be found right here. It was brutal cold and the lake was frozen. Only the creeking of the frozen top against the edge and the wind could be heard

It was a Monday afternoon at the start of winter break. We thought it would be packed. It was not. Masks were required. Really enjoyed seeing Sue. Walked through all exhibits included with general admission. Took is about 4 hours, but you could easily spend more time if you pay for admission into the extra sections. Such a great experience. I think I enjoyed it just as much, if not more, than my eleven year old.

I’ve grown up coming here and I’m not too young anymore. You can definitely spend several hours here very easily. We did and didn’t stop to read everything they had posted all over. The Jurassic Underwater Exhibition was good too. Seeing these animals in life size display was awesome.

The museum campus is the most magical area of Chicago, with the three amazing museums, surrounded by parks and trails, and the beautiful lake views. Getting in and out from Lakeshore Drive is a major hassle, but worth it.

A 💯 must go and spend the day. Lots of places to sit throughout the displays. Stunning, clean, food available, close parking was $30 and worth it. Daily ticket and Memberships a available, also.

It was a cool aquarium. Pretty expensive though, and even though my family works in Chicago and lives only 5 mins outside Chiago City limits, they would not give us a resident rate. We enjoyed the day but will never go back. The area outside was fabulous. So much to do in the area that we will explore elsewhere. The Veteran monument outside Soldier Stadium was spectacular

We visited the Shedd Aquarium over the holidays and had a wonderful time. It's been a while since we have visited. Some displays are the same, but the Shedd has it's lower level updated. It's very kid friendly. There are hands on displays, like touch a starfish. The dolphin show was short but engaging. The Shedd is a great place to take the kids for several hours of fun and learning. Parking was easy with a lot across the street or street parking.

Field Museum was fun. The evolving earth, Sue, & the rest of the dinosaurs were the best part. The staff was setting up for an evening event around 3:30-4 and we felt like we were in their way while navigating the museum the last hour. Having signs up stating that would happen would have been good. Maybe there were signs and we missed them — Overall we had a great time.

It's an amazing museum. There are a large number of animals from current and pre-historic times. We avail the free Illinois residents pass for family. One advise is to get book parking in advance or come by public transport. It can take more than 3 hours to complete.

One of the most amazing aquariums out there! Definitely spend most of your day here to explore. Amazing specimens here and some of the fish are the largest I've seen of their species. I would come back again!

Lots and lots of exhibits. Huge, so I didn't pay for the extra exhibits. I stayed for 4 hours, which really isnt much time, considering the size. You really need to come back more than once to absorb all that the Field Museum offers. I arrived at 10 am, when it wasn't too busy. It got quite busy as the day went on. There are lots and lots and lots of benches and places to rest, which is great since I brought my back pack and it was sort of heavy. They have a café on the main floor, and a large area to sit and eat, with vending machines, on the lower level. There are 3 levels, and a few areas require extra fees/tickets to get in: China area, the dead exhibit, European kings exhibit, underground exhibit, are the ones that I recall are extra $'s. There are things to see for all ages, and even a special play area just for the younger children, but to enjoy all that the Field Museum offers, probably ages 10 and up will enjoy it much more. In the attached pictures is a picture of a bust of Stanley Field who was president of the museum from 1909 until 1964. I didn't realize the museum is named after Stanley Field who was born in 1875.

Always have a great time here, so much to do! Most recently, my family (Mom, Sister, and my sister's and my partners) and I saw Taylor Swift here, and it was my first time at Soldier Field. It is a really nice venue! We had seats in section 340, and they were set up basically right in the middle of the length of her stage, where we could see really well! It was an absolute blast! We also parked in a Soldier Field parking lot, which had port a potty stations set up in several locations for patrons, and the lot in general was kept nice and clean. Everyone was Tayl-gating and having so much fun! We traded bracelets with other fans, everyone was so positive and happy to be there and were so sweet to one another, I heard so many compliments from everyone to everyone else! If you haven't visited this area before, go check it out! Between the Lake Michigan shore, the Shedd Aquarium, museums, and the nearby park, shopping, and general hustle bustle of Chicago, it is a really fun time!

It was very interesting! I got to see a lot of different things, you can easily lose track of time. I spent 3 hours in there, but it was worth it. I learned some things I didn't know. Great place to take the family or just go your to spend the morning.

Really nice area. All the museums are there. You can see soldier Field you can't actually like. Go to it to take a better picture unless you really want to walk all the way around the promenade. But yeah it was a nice area and you can get the rainbow cone which is really good and it's pretty well priced

We visited the Shed Aquarium, and it was all I had hoped it would be. This is the first time I have been here, and it was an awesome experience! Dolphins, fish, crabs, whales, turtles, stingrays, this place has them all. Next time, I would like to visit the Planetarium!

You really have to go. Plenty to keep kids eyes and hands busy. The building and grounds are beautiful. Parking isn't that bad l, just pricey. Bathrooms on every floor. Just plan on a lot of walking. If you're planning on buying food here, sell some stock before you go...gets expensive quick.

  • 4/5 David R. 3 months ago on Google • 75 reviews New
The museum is fantastic, there's so much to see and so much information, there's no way to see it all in one day. But, the parking situation was RIDICULOUS. They had cones up directing people arriving in loops going nowhere. $30 for parking and finally got parked after about 25 minutes of that nonsense.

This museum has exhibits that are very well designed and maintained. It is the best natural history museum that I have visited. I was particularly impressed by the exhibit "The Evolution of Life." The "Sue" exhibit of the most complete fossil skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus rex found to date is also amazing. We spent the entire day at the museum and did not get around to all exhibits. I will visit this museum whenever I travel to Chicago.

Touching the sting rays something all kids, toodlers can do. They took the shows away. Never go on the same day as a bears game, the bears fans have priority parking and will have to walk miles and pay crazy parking fees. Beautiful as usual .

So much to see and experience! We were only able to get the top floor done on Sunday. We are definitely coming back to experience the rest! This is my favorite museum in Chicago and it's very nostalgic for me. Lot's of wonderful exhibits!

  • 5/5 Richard S. 2 years ago on Google
Soldier Field is one of my favorite places on earth. There are very few things I'd rather be doing than taking in a Bears home game. I do find the lack of beer guy & billions of people in line for beer instead to be an opportunity for improvement, as is traffic management before the game; otherwise fantastic experience.

Loved every minute of this museum! Wish I had more time, and also wish I would have paid for the Hall of China!

  • 5/5 Norbert C. 2 years ago on Google
I have visited this museum many times in the past, but not in recent years. I was impressed with the improvements. I recommend that you pay the extra fee and visit all three special exhibits and the 3D movie."The Machine Inside" and the "Cyrus Tang Hall of China" are excellent, with many interactive displays. The "Underground Adventure" is the same I saw many years ago, so it is getting a bit outdated, but it is still worthwhile visiting if you have the time. See also the "Tsavo Lions", even if it is a bit out of the way. When I was there on 9/15/21 there was a friendly staff person explaining the exhibit in some detail, including why these lions are maneless even though they are males. If you saw the movie "The Ghost and the Darkness", you probably noticed that there the lions had manes, which was not the case in real life.

Kids loved it (5 stars) but it was a little boring to me (3 stars) so total score 4 stars. More than can be done in a day Sue was the best part but to be honest the dinosaurs at Brookfield zoo actually move so meh.

  • 5/5 Shanna R. 2 years ago on Google
My visit was as awesome as I'd always imagined. ❤️ The architecture of the museum is as amazing as many of the exhibits. Absolutely gorgeous. Top 3 favorite exhibits: 1. Sue the T-Rex 2. The man eating Lions of Tsavo 3. The Lucy bones

This place is awesome 👌 the dolphins are so neat to watch plus the show is free!! The amount of different species of fish is surreal. We spent most of the day there and didn't see everything. What an amazing place to explore whether on your own or with the whole family. There are ginormous dinausor and animals from the past, present and sadly 😥 possibly extinct animals in the future. It is large and may possibly take more than one day to fully explore and take in all it has to offer.

Getting quite outdated, fun for a nostalgic museum experience but they could really use an upgrade there already. The COLOR exhibit was AWESOME

  • 5/5 Sadye H. 2 years ago on Google
It's such a big awesome place. I was worried my 3 and 6 year old wouldn't be interested enough but we were there from open to close and still didn't get through 3 exhibits. The kids loved it they just got too tired. One negative due to covid- all drink machines were down except energy drinks and Starbucks vending. So there was nothing for kids even the drinking fountains are off unless you have a bottle and I didn't know to bring one.

  • 5/5 Ana K A. 2 years ago on Google
We loved it, we had kids from 3 to 10 yo and they all had fun and enjoyed the aquarium. But the annual pass, it's totally worth it, otherwise tickets are expensive, with pass you also get discounts at the gift shop and other activities inside the aquarium. Tip: even with the annual pass you have to reserve tickets in advanced.

If you have never been to the museum campus in Chicago you should definitely make an effort to go because the place is gorgeous, full of amazing activities to do, and the views of the city are breathtaking! Everything is here for you in one spot-the Planetarium, Aquarium, Field Museum, Soldier Field. There is parking available on the street or in lots. Sidewalks to all attractions so you can take strollers, walkers, or wheelchairs easily. With a City Pass you will get your money's worth and more.

  • 4/5 Jeanna L. 2 years ago on Google
Very, very crowded, the parking situation for handicapped guests is ridiculous and the parking attendants were not friendly or helpful. I'm not from Chicago so I'm not familiar with all the 'suggestions' I received from staff and asking for more info seemed to irritate these individuals. The staff in inside the museum was hit or miss as to being friendly and/or helpful. The best service/attitude came from the cleaning staff walking around keeping the ground looking good. They were knowledgeable friendly, and made many suggestions on a range of things. Definitely check out the Color attraction that you pay extra for...my 12 & 14 yr olds thought it was interesting. The gift shop was extremely crowded but it was also near closing time. The issue we had was when we were overcharged for an item and were then sent to 3 different people to get a refund. The item had a sign clearly marked 50% off, had it been a few dollars I would have just said forget it, but $15 an the attitude whoa it was a bit much. The museum sights are worth the trip, just be prepared for the crowds and attitudes.

The exhibits and information to accompany them are excellent and the price is reasonable for what you get! The building is gorgeous and all the environmentals (temp etc) were good. We weren't too impressed with the instructions/map/directions. Some of the exhibits had a definite start and finish, which was not marked on the map, and no other way to know where the start was except to wander around. There were many vending machines and all but one was out of water. That vending machine advertised a 16oz water for $2.25 but charged me $3.35 when it dispensed. I realize that drinks are going to be more expensive out of a vending machine at a venue like this but selling a can of soda for $1.50 and a bottle of water for $3.35 is just all kinds of wrong. Not to mention the false advertising on the price.

Brought our son and two friends to Adler for his birthday on a Sunday. A great time was had by all. Had guest services been available during the week prior to our visit to answer questions about the on-site dining options, Adler would've gotten the fifth star.

Shedd Aquarium is awesome. Fully worth a visit to Chicago. The Field Museum is massive. We spent over 1 hour in one exhibit area. There are 3 floors with multiple exhibitions on each floor, the smaller children (8y/o) wanted to go from point to point quickly while the older kids spent time reading the info plaques and watching the videos. It did get crowded in the Sue exhibit, as well as within the Ancient Americas exhibit. The staff were energetic and engaging, and answered my silly questions with science and humor. Even if one were outside of the buildings, the grounds are well manicured and clean. There are gardens and orchards to visit. The lake front walkway offers nice views of the lake, the museums' impressive exteriors and the city skyline.

We spent around 6 hours and only saw approximately 30 percent of the exhibits. First time we were lucky enough to experience the massive amount of informative and wonderful cultivated exhibits. Staff is courteous and informative. Highly recommend the city pass if you decide to take in some of the wonderful and amazing sights Chicago has to offer.

We had only half a day here but our four year old and our 12 year old enjoyed it equally. We enjoyed it as well. Bathrooms were clean , they even had toddler areas with smaller toilets. We enjoyed all the exhibits and plan to return. It was nice to know ( even tho we could not use it because we are not Illinois residents) they have a free day. As for food , there were two cafeteria type places and we ate at the one in the second level. Food was expensive ($14 for a cheeseburger) but the double patty with all the fixins, was much much better than anticipated. We were pleased and plan to return and we're just discussing yearly passes or the like. A very good family trip. We spent about four hours exploring and agreed we could have stayed an entire day at the least.

The Shedd Aquarium is a beautiful place to visit. The whole family or you and your significant other can have a great time seeing the many kinds of sea creatures and other animals. Plus the entry is not expensive at all. Also they have a variety of food you can buy and enjoy there.

  • 4/5 Brianna G. 8 months ago on Google
Honestly, I'm not sure I believe all that is presented here! The dinosaurs are awesome, and they have just so much to see! We spent most of the day here, and didn't even see all the exhibits! If you have littles, go to the children's area first. We went to the dinos first, and he had too many wiggles to appreciate it! He was much more settled after visiting the children's area.

I absolutely adored the experience. I have an anxiety disorder and needed to borrow a wheelchair for the day due to faintness. Not a single staff member made me feel unwelcome or like an inconvenience for being slow or positioned somewhere with my friend group. Every exhibit was exceptionally clean and well maintained, and we enjoyed our discovery passes all day until closing and still didn't get to see everything! I highly recommend the experience.

A must to go in Chicago. It’s AMAZING. So plan your visit and go early to see all the exhibitions because there are a lot to see and learn. Don’t miss the 3D movies and visit the shop. With the City Pass you have discounts to buy souvenirs.

Note: there is currently construction going on not schedule to be done until 2027. Overall the aquarium is a great learning experience. They sealife of all sorts. Everything from ocean animals to the Great lakes. Everything is well marked and a teaching moment for younger kids and adults. It's definitely fun for the whole family. The penguins and dolphins were our favorite!

The Field is one of the best place to see wild life , though I will always miss Sue the T-Rex as you walk in . It's great for kids because you can walk it in a couple hours or really take you time with the special exhibits. 😉 the Cafe is a solid spot to grab a snack if your planning on making a day of the area , before a football game, to see a show at the planetarium, or visit the aquarium. Remember to use your city idea for a discount or if just moved to the city. Get a city pass and enjoy all the spot in Chicago.

It's been a number of years since my wife and I were there. The city of Chicago has done an excellent job to this campus. Yet parking fees were completely outrageous. Shame on whoever has control of that.

There are a lot of things to see in the museum, which is great but they make you pay a lot more money once you are inside. Several area they charge additional fees for. I was disappointed. It wasn't cheap to get in. If you had time and money to do it all it could be very expensive!
