What a great experience. Wow. The museum was overtaken by "Saturday Night Live" memorabilia. From desks and telegrams, to costumes and props we felt like we were there. The way it was setup was so you could experience as if you were a part of the cast. The exhibits were, in many cases hands-on. We got to sit on the Wayne's World couch, saw recordings of cast members from the early days up to today, and did a lot of walking in general. I strongly recommend everyone who has any interest in SNL to go see this while you can. I am still very interested in seeing the rest of the museum when the exhibit is not there. What we did get to see was a collection of old radios and TV sets; we saw memorabilia from Chicago TV shows like Bozo the Clown; we even got to sit at a weather desk with green screen. Of course, as with any museum, they are not lacking in gift shops. Even though it is a relatively small museum they have two. The one at the end of the tour had an area where you could have your picture taken at the Weekend Update desk and have a host superimposed. For $20, it was fun and will help keep good memories alive.

My After School Matters teens were very disappointed today and so was I because there is only one floor to see so we were finished with the tour in 15 minutes when we were told that it would take one hour. I took a group of teens there on July 10, 2018 for the Saturday Night Live Experience and we had an awesome time! There was a lot more to see on multiple floors than today. All of those exhibits are no longer there so I guess that is why it was free. It was definitely not what I expected and I truly feel like I let my teens down. The staff should tell people in advance that there is only one floor to see prior to booking appointments.

Spent the afternoon viewing the Saturday Night Live exhibit. The staff was courteous and informative. The second floor had collectables from old shows and viewing areas with chairs to relax. Great way to get out of the heat this summer! Students receive discount on tickets with school/college ID.

A Great place to visit, except it is currently under construction but, yet still open. Some exhibits you normally were able to see, you won't be able to see due to the construction. The Svengoolie exhibit has been currently taken down during the construction.

We had such a blast learning so much! I didn't realize there was a big television scene in Chicago. Cliff was incredible and so fun to talk to! He taught us a lot. Thanks for such a pleasant visit!

For anyone fascinated by mass communication (especially radio) this is a must see! Tons of things to read about the history of radio and television. Lots to see inside including the broadcast hall of fame!

A couple of friends and I stopped by today for a quick tour and Cliff made our day!! He was so friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. I love learning from people who are really passionate about their thing and you could tell Cliff was. I also found a new love for Garfield Goose and Friends!! Gonna go watch old episodes now. Thanks Cliff!!

FYI: free entry with WBEZ membership and certain other types of discounts and free entry available. Otherwise, tickets are $14 for adults. I agree with others that Cliff, the docent, really made this experience special. He gave us a little tour of the broadcast studio and shared a lot of fun facts. They have quite a number of neat artifacts, like the only academy award given to a puppet! I would say this is a should do for locals, students, and those with a special interest, but would not make the highlights tour for those visiting Chicago for a weekend trip.

Was rather disappointed that a lot of stuff wasn't on display - was only one floor and was pretty much focused on radio other than a few bits around American TV shows. Certainly nothing like the reviewer photos were suggesting. What was there was good and the guide was very helpful but wish I'd had the chance to see what previous reviewers had seen.

I had a great experience while on a time crunch in Chicago! I happened to be the only one in the museum for a short while, and Cliff gave me a wonderful personalized tour (but also let me take my time on my own too). He was extremely kind and gave unique information on the exhibits/Chicago in general. I will definitely be back with guests to see these great exhibits + new ones!

Thank you Cliff for showing us around! Definitely recommended for anyone in the broadcasting industry. It's currently limited to one-floor only, mostly radio-related for the buffs and a great collection of local Chicago tv history. There's enough nerdy things to capture the engineering side but also significant historical pieces for pop culture memories for those who are just passing by. (see pic of Cliff showing us their new Gilligan's Island display and how it came to be) As a tv photog, I was a bit sad to not able to see most of the tv collection although they had the AP newswire teletype machine on display with the original JFK bulletin. (Who is old enough to remember the bells!?)

We really had a great time and learned so much about radio overall, Chicago radio and Black radio as well! I want to highlight Cliff! We came at a slow time and he checked on us periodically and told a few stories that really made our time special! If you get him ask him about the Skippers hat! He really has a passion for the museum and it showed. We really enjoyed ourselves!

Beautifully done small museum. The timeline in the front is a great interactive exhibit. Jack was extremely knowledgeable and made us all feel welcome. Really glad they were there to walk us through the exhibit.

I went to the broadcast museum today with a friend and we had the most wonderful time! There were so many cool displays and a lot of interesting facts. Cliff, an employee of the museum, was super knowledgeable and made the experience something we won’t ever forget. He was so genuinely kind to us, and you can tell that he’s passionate about the broadcast industry and was excited to share his wealth of knowledge with others. Overall a stellar experience. We will definitely be returning again!!

14 months ago I ordered a DVD. I received an email that confirmed the order. I never received the DVD, no response to my email requests and no one answering the phone. The money was taken from my account and that was that. Very disappointed with the lack of professionalism, really expected better. Update: Someone from the museum saw my review and immediately sent out my DVD. They emailed me with the tracking number and a contact if I needed any more help. They made it right very fast. Thank you so much.

Absolutely fantastic experience. Cliff, one of the employees, gave us a personal tour, including the radio studio. His stories were so interesting. He spent nearly an hour just with us. Highly recommend.

Overall a pretty unique and cool place to spend an hour or two. The SNL exhibit is on the 2nd and 4th floors, and you are routed to go that way before you see the rest of the musuem ( which is on the 3rd floor). So when I was there, I bought my ticket and went upstairs. I did check my coat and was immediately put in the SNL exhibit. So if there is a choice to skip it, I missed it. But do see it. It was interesting even though I am not am SNL fan. I do appreciate the history of SNL and the musuem does a fine job of capturing that history.

Super informative! Very nice gentleman docent. I was excited to see the Svengoolie display and Mortimer Snerd , Charlie McCarthy dummies. Radios from the past were very nostalgic. Depending how much time you want to read about the displays, you will spend 30 minutes to an hour (or more) walking around.

I visited the museum for the Saturday Night Live Exhibit. The exhibit was excellent. There are original costumes from the show as well as informative videos describing what goes on to put the show on when it is in production.

Came here for the SNL exhibit and it did not disappoint! The exhibit took you through life on the set at SNL. It takes you through everyday of the week, from writing, planning, costume and set design, rehearsals and all the way up to the live show. It was really neat to see the insight of such an iconic show. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking or something fun to do.

It was so great seeing all of the characters that are CHICAGO. From Blob to Garfield Goose and Cudley Dudley, I smiled my whole way through the museum. I just wish I had more time to visit.
