If you're an Elmhurst resident, the upstairs exhibit is really interesting. Be sure to sit for the movie and check out the interactive map. Some great old pictures of familiar buildings. The amusement park exhibit is small but worth a stop!

Great place to stop with the kids, its free and open to the public by appointment only. Interesting history about the small town and an exhibit on the history of road trips. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the artifacts, small space with big information.

I love this place! Has many interesting exhibits that change every month or so. Disco Demolition, It's a Wonderful Life, Ronco. Nice movie & history of the area is always available. Lot of memorabilia from stores, schools, etc

Really outstanding little place. They have such fun special exhibits. I mean fun! I really hate it when museums make political statements. This is pure enjoyment. We went to the fast food one in the past. Put smiles on our faces. I remember it better than most exhibits I’ve seen at the Art Institute. Today was the lost department stores. The parking lot was packed!!! There was a line to read all the exhibits. And that wasn’t a bad thing. Ladies were taking pictures of each other next to the exhibits. I think we all worked at one of these places growing up. The nostalgia was incredible. And there was Uncle Mistletoe. And even Klaus Dept store from my neighborhood in the city! Very, very well done!!! And it was free! Naturally, we left a donation! I belong to quite a few of the Chicago area and organizations. PThis one is truly a gem.

Culturally rich museum of historical artifacts that played a big part in Chicago's early years of operation. Elmhurst History museum also displayed it's own collectives of the city of Elmhurst. The 2 story building is great for history buffs and individuals who don't like a lot of walking and winding halls. Nice experience.

It's your typical local civic museum. While it's clean, adjacent to a nice downtown area, and free it's entire collection looks like it was found at local garage sales. No complaint, it's just nothing special. On the other hand they do occasionally bring in some unique traveling exhibits. We just saw a Snoopy exhibit that was worth the drive across the metro area.

Came for the bike exhibit and it was cute small but cute . It was very interesting. Brought my small son along so was kinda hard to keep him occupied. Otherwise it was a great property. Old house that was donated to Elmhurst and turned into a museum.

Nice museum covering local history. A little cramped in the rotating exhibit. Probably would of been better if the patrons would of been more considerable of others. If they would of moved out of the way and carry on their reminiscing while others can enjoy the displays.

Saw their display of the famous department stores of Chicago and Elmhurst. So much to see, read and feel. It was like a time capsule had been opened for trip down memory lane. I recommend this place.

I went to the museum for an exhibit display about retail stores from the past. I really enjoyed the exhibit because it took me down memory lane. This was my first time going, but I think I will definitely visit again

One of my go-to places in town. Thought provoking, engaging and rich with facts. Awesome welcoming staff. Love to visit.

Very cool that elhhurst has a history museum. The videos were interesting, but also seemed to only show the "progressive" parts of Elmhurst's history. A little more balance would have made it more interesting. I noted that the visiting exhibit downstairs seemed to be more balanced.

Went for the Chicago food exhibit. It was well done, but concentrated on deep dish pizza, and little on thin crust. Lots of info on dogs and Italian beef. Overall well done. But the upstairs Elmhurst history was eye opening, especially for someone not from this village
