This place was a pleasant surprise! The taste was authentic, and the service was excellent! And the handmade tortillas really made my day!

Food was so good we went back again!!! The Shrimp Chimichinga was out of this world. This time I tried all 3 of their margaritas: coconut, pineapple and hibiscus and everything was delicious! We sat outside and our waiter Jose is always nice and friendly. La Cabinita is now my favorite restaurant! My coworker told me about this place and it is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant now!!!! The tacos was amazing with the handmade corn tortillas and I had to Caldo De Res soup with corn tortillas and it was fantastic! I had the mango margarita and that was yummy as well. My hubby had the 3 tacos dinner with 2 al pastor and 1 shrimp and he said it was very good. We sat outside on this wonderful 70 degrees evening and it was just a wonderful date night. I highly recommend this place for some delicious Mexican food! Prices was reasonable too! Yummmm!

Excellent, excellent, EXCELLENT!!!! I (admittedly) made a pretty obnoxious special request, & it was honored w/o hesitation. Very nice staff. Amazing food.

I had one bite of the AL Pastor it made my stomach hurt so bad I sat there with a stomach while my friends talked, not only was there little to no meat on the tacos, what was there was greasy, oily mess. The oil was seeping out of the meat, and into my refried beans. I ate my refried beans, and than took one bite of the taco and I knew it was not gunna be good. Almost immediately after eating my stomach began to hurt.(So did my friends who got the same thing.) Mine was so bad I had to cancel all my plans for the night, and I just spent the entire night getting sick in my bathroom, sweating this place without a doubt gave me a a bug or food poisoning. One of the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. The drinks weren't even that good for the price, and they were super weak.

My first time there and my last time. waitress was rude brought chips to the table not enough for 4 people then had to charge for more 4.99 what? Then we ordered from the menu food came out. By that time she must have known that we were not happy and was being very happy and trying to explain. I don't mind paying a little more for good portions size but it looked like the kids plate one teaspoon of beans. So I will say this when I have a bad experience I will post this because you as Management and Ownership apparently don't care.

The server was very nice and attentive. Atmosphere was nice. The food was good but a little bland. Their fresh fruit margaritas 🍹 are delicious 😋.

I am from Texas and I must say this food reminds me of home! If you are ever in Burr Ridge Illinois not far from Chicago this restaurant is a must! The service food is excellent. I have found a new spot . Almost forgot the Skinny Margarita is a must

Downtown experience without the parking pain, overpriced and long waits. My husband and I normally go downtown for more “fancy” drinks. Today we decided to try La Cabañita and we are still amazed by the food, the drinks but most importantly the SERVICE! Esteban was wonderful at explaining the menu, Ingredients in the drinks. I mentioned I loved strawberries and we got a Strawberry margarita which is one of the BEST drinks I’ve ever had! I’m definitely going back for more! Also, the meat was tender, juicy and cooked! I truly enjoyed the food too! I had a long week and this experience definitely made my week! I highly suggest you ask for Esteban. He is humble, friendly and very attentive.

Worst Mexican food I’ve ever had! Beans tasted like they were out of a can! Homemade tortillas were horrible! 2 spoonfuls of guacamole cost $11! Taco Bell would have been better

Spectacular service all the way around. The food was well prepared and the salsa and guacamole was tasty.

If I had to sum up La Cabañita is two words, it would be unimpressive and dissappointing. The service was not good. Our waitress hardly ever came over to us, and at the end of the meal when we were ready to leave, we sat there clearly finished, for about 15-20 minutes. Next, the Atmosphere. It is crowded, and seems to be in an identity crisis when it comes to Decor. It seems like its half going for fine dining ambiance, half a casual Mexican eatery. Most importantly, the food was definetely sub par. No salt on the tortilla chips, the guacamole was bland, watery, and VERY cold, making me think it may be frozen. I don't know that for sure, but it definetely was not made fresh to order. In addition, the guacamole was $13 for about a 1 Cup serving size (see my picture for reference). The tacos we had were also very bland. The steak was extremely dry, didn't have any flavor, and were generally underwhelming for a plate of 3 tacos that cost $18. Needless to say, we will not be coming back unless there are signifigant changes. In an area with plenty of tasty mexican restaurants, La Cabañita does not make the cut for me.

The food is very bland. Almost flavorless. This is unlike any Mexican food I ever had. We took the remaining home thinking next day would be better. Just as bad the next day. Mango Margherita was very good. Chips and Salsa just ok.

In town for a business trip. This is a family owned restaurant with a great relaxed atmosphere. I ordered the Chilean bass topped with a tomato sauce , green peppers, onions , over white cilantro rice (I did not taste the cilantro in the rice), garnished with lettuce, avocado and diced tomatoes. No spice- I like my Mexican food spicy so I asked for their homemade hot sauce( server brought out both versions- a red and green) . Flavors were food

First time there, and last time there. I ordered pork tamales, they were terrible. So dried out and hard I had to keep drinking water to get them down. These were store bought tamales an just wrapped in the husk. Very stingy with the beans. Asked for some sour cream and was charged $2 for an ounce. I’ve had better Mexican food.

Horrible...as a Mexican..this restaurant has the worst food I ever taste, no flavor, bad food. Expensive and they add the tip at 20%..for only 3 people...DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY IN THIS PLACE..there are better places than this one. Seriuosly ...not good.

Really like this restaurant although it seems every time we try to go there it's always closed. One time on a Sunday. Nope. One time for lunch at noon on Saturday. Nope. I guess we have to plan better.

Excellent spot to grab a table at or a quick bite to go. Nice atmosphere with a great bar. I love the tacos and fajitas! They do charge a CC fee which I think is ridiculous, that is a cost of doing business for the business.

The food was amazing. We sat at the bar the bartender was incredible. He allowed us to sample their margaritas to help us decide what we wanted. Was a great experience.

Ordered this through door dash and haven’t been able to test the food in house. I ordered a steak salad and it was very enjoyable. It was the perfect amount of food for someone trying to lose some weight but not go hungry.

We did a retirement lunch for a co-worker, and a colleague suggested this place to us. From the first conversation with Sal who took the order and with Sally, with whom we completed everything, everyone was friendly, professional and easy to work with. The food was fabulous - wish I had ordered more enchiladas - they went SO quickly! And maybe less elephant ears because i couldn't stop eating them :) thank you everyone at La Cabanita.

I am loyal customer for five+ years because they never let me down. I order the same veggie burrito every time and every time it is the same and it is delicious. They are consistent on quality of the ingredients, consistent on cleanliness, and consistently provide excellent service. Hands down the best service I've received at any other casual dining restaurant. 5 stars all around!
