Small place so if you're not good with niche spaces you might not like the local. Friendly staff and the food was amazing. I had the yellow curry and added eggplant that was sumptuous! Will definitely go again.

I took my family here for a birthday celebration (9 adults) and the staff were very accommodating. They let me bring in cupcakes, candles and balloons. The restaurant is small, but peaceful and quiet, so you can actually have a conversation. No tvs lining the walls or loud music. The food was outstanding with lots of variety. Everyone raved about the food. Generous portions, very flavorful, and decently priced. The waitresses were helpful and there was not a long wait between ordering and arrival of the food. The place is clean and tastfully decorated. There is not one bad thing I have to say about this place. We had a large table in the middle of the room, which they let us know when I made the reservation, but that was not a problem at all, it was perfect! Our entire experience was one of a lovely, relaxed celebration in a warm, intimate setting. I'd return here again in a heartbeat.

Food is fresh. Service is fast. True authentic Thai food. The space is very intimate and very clean. Prices are reasonable ranging from $4 - $15 on most menu items.

UPDATE: Joy of Thai will close for about a month or so starting about October 27. No, they are not going out of business. The owner will travel to their native country to tend to family matters. I hope things go well with them and the family. I offered to do the cooking while they were away. She didn’t take me up on my offer. Oh well...their loss. I had a bright idea of ordering a few items and keep them in the freezer. This should tide me over while they are away. I hope they have a safe trip and return quickly. They are really nice people. — We had a taste for Thai food and today we decided to try someplace different. Joy of Thai is one of three similar type restaurants nearby. Located on the south side of 179th street just east of Wolf Road. It is in a small strip mall, being one of three occupants. We pass by it all the time. Having tried and being unsatisfied with the other restaurants we had eaten from before. This visit was out very first. To keep things simple we ordered pork fried rice and pineapple fried rice, a vegetable dish. Both dishes were prepared fresh, were very tasty, and presented in a different style of dish whereby we could actually see what we purchased. The seasoning used reminded my of Indian food with a slight use of curry. Everything was delicious and I can’t believe I consumed the entire dish; each serving was a few hours apart of course. Would I recommend them? Absolutely. The carryout experience was smooth and easy. Give them a try. You will enjoy it.

We been going to Thai restaurants for 30 years, and we're not satisfied with Joy of Thai because our stir fry we're all soupy, no moo ping pork no homade sauce. Despite that we still gave the waitress $8 cash tip, she counted the money, put it back on the table and said; 10% (on $100 total). Just so you know tip is optional and given for a good performance and customer satisfaction. Stir fry should have a glaze on it, not drown in soupy sauce.

Wonderful service. We had to dash because I'd lost my ring (we found it if your reading! Haha) so they very swiftly packed up our food and were so sweet. I loved the panang noodles and my husband enjoyed the chicken basil rice.

Our favorite Thai food in the area by far. Delicious green and red curry, awesome dumplings and crab Rangoon, and amazing Thai noodles. Sometimes wish they had a delivery option, but worth the drive to pickup when we're craving Thai

There is not many Thai food restaurants in our area and this review its for the owner of Joy of Thai to realize that this place can thrive as long as its gonna be clean ,food wasn't that bad ,could be also better , and I wanted to try because of the other reviews. For people like me , who loves food and different cultures, the first impression is important, and right now in this place I wasnt impresed by anything, the staff seems really nice but the carpet inside and overall look of this place its far from being clean now ,I hope that you will clean this place and serve your great Thai food with passion and Joy ,Best wishes.

Small place but big on flavor. Would recommend it for fresh Thai food. Great service.

This is hands down the best Thai in the area and the employees are gems! I trek all the way from Chicago to come eat here. The service and quality of food is unmatched, and the staff take the time to get to know their regulars. I wish I could come more frequently, but it’s always on point when I do! Can’t say enough good things about this place - efficient, quick, delicious, great atmosphere, easy takeaway, and so many menu options! Try the red curry and make your pad Thai a little spicy! You won’t be disappointed

This is hands down my go to place for Thai food. The crab Rangoon is the best here. Pad Thai has some spice but it's soooo good it won't even bother you. The flavor profile on every dish is just soo unique. The soy sauce isn't bitter like most others out there also. Service is always great. They are soo kind and pay attention to every detail. 99.9% sure they hand make everything in house with how it taste. You just gotta come and see for yourself!

I don't eat Thai very often so I didn't know what to expect. The Spring rolls were an excellent choice for an appetizer. The Chicken Panang Curry was very flavorful and the serving size was generous. The staff were very friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend.

This is among the best Thai restaurant in Southwest suburbs, dine in and carry out has long wait time so please call in advance. They never compromise in quality, freshness and taste of the food. My wife and I love their food, and take friends and guests frequently and it’s been great. This place is small and congested on weekend and evenings, but it’s worth if you want to try freshly cooked authentic Thai food in front of you.

My siblings and I have been coming here for years. The staff are always kind and efficient. I love that they utilize fresh ingredients and seem to enjoy serving their customers. If you want some good food you should definitely give them a try!

We were in town visiting family and I found this on google maps. My BIL&SIL meet us there, they live in the area but have never tried this place. Everyone was impressed with the flavors and freshness. Friendly atmosphere. Brother in law said they will put it on their regular visit list.

We order for here every week or so. Food is fresh and and always perfect. Very Grateful this place is close and pretty reasonable. Wait staff and Owner are very nice and helpful. We have our favorite dishes for sure. I always order and then wind up taking my wives.

  • 4/5 Michael O. 1 year ago on Google
The food was delicious. I normally look for places that have Rama Chicken and mango stick rice which are 2 of my favorites. We ordered some type of combination appetizers and they were a little burnt (spring rolls and egg rolls), crab Rangoon was good. Everyone else enjoyed there meals. We had to pay for chili sauce and I thought with the amount of food we ordered they would throw that in but it’s ok.

The most delicious Thai food I’ve had. Our family continues and will continue to only eat exclusively at this restaurant. The staff too is amazing.

Food was actually very good. Only downer was Pad Thai could have used a little more peanuts. The Pad Thai itself was wonderful. Also, the young lady at the register was friendly and happy. A pleasure to come in for a pick up.

My first Thai experience and the food was amazing. Service was great and the place is very cute. Will certainly visit again.

Fresh food. NO MSG or other additives in their food. Also joy does not add fish paste to her curry. Which is huge for me. Joy has never disappointed with her great food!! They take card or cash and has a small quaint restaurant setting inside (maybe 10 tables?) great food, great owner two thumbs up!

This restaurant is the reason why Thai food is my favorite type of food. This is my favorite restaurant I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to countless restaurants all over Europe and North America. I live in nyc now and have yet to find a Thai place with a panang curry as amazing as Joy’s. I’m in love with this place and whenever I go home to IL, this place is my biggest priority to go to. I deeply wish I could order food from here and have it delivered to me in NY!

Fantastic, fresh Thai. Joy of Thai is definitely the best Thai restaurant in the area! The Glass Noodle Soup and Baby Chicken Egg Rolls are our favorites, but everything we've tried is fresh & delicious. They take all covid-19 precautions for carry-out & care about their customers. Highly recommended!

Very good Thai food! The Tom Kha was a bit too sour for me, but the pad Thai and Pad See-ew was sooo good! Well balanced flavors, option for combination chicken, beef, and shrimp, good tofu, and the noodles were perfectly done. Will definitely go again!
